Korea's Hanwha boosting solar cell output, eyes 4GW by 2020
September 10, 2010 - South Korea's Hanwha Group is laying out a long-range plan to double its revenues by 2015, and boost solar capacity to 4GW by 2020, according to reports.
Hanwha Chemical currently has about 30MW/year capacity out of its Ulsan facility in southeast Korea, thanks in large part to a Spire turnkey line which it signed off on earlier this year, with which it planned to produce 15.8% efficient multicrystalline silicon cells at >34MW/year. Japan's Nikkei daily cites company CEO Hong Ki-Joon saying the company will spend ~6T won (US $5.13B) on an expansion of solar cell output capacity to 4GW/year over the next decade. (Japanese suppliers, including Tokyo Electron, saw stocks rise on this news, the paper noted.)
Hanwha also has been active outside its walls recently; as of August it is the largest stakeholder (49.99%) in China's Solarfun, and plans to expand that company's capacity to 1.5GW in 2011 (from 900MW now) and spend >3T won (US $2.56B) on the business through 2018, and shift focus from heavily on European demand to growing demand in China and the US, according to Bloomberg.

Hanwha Chemical to spend 1.04 tln won on polysilicon plant
Yonhap (South Korea)
April 12, 2011
Hanwha Chemical Corp., a chemical unit of South Korea's Hanwha Group, said Monday that it plans to spend 1.04 trillion won (US$924 million) on building a polysilicon-producing plant.
The construction of the facility in Yeosu, 455 kilometers southwest of Seoul, will be completed by July 2013, the company said in a regulatory filing. Polysilicon is used in solar panels and solar cells.
The plant will have an annual output of 10,000 tons of polysilicon, Hanwha Chemical said.
In August last year, Hanwha Chemical took over Solarfun Power Holdings, a Chinese solar modules manufacture, and renamed the company "Hanwha SolarOne."
Hanwha SolarOne is planning to set up a solar cell and solar cell module production line with a production capacity of 2 gigawatts in Nantong, a city in China's Jiangsu Province.
Local conglomerates such as Samsung and LG have been rushing to venture into the solar energy-related sector as part of efforts to diversify their business portfolios and secure new revenue sources.
The size of solar-related business globally was estimated at $30 billion last year and is expected to grow at an annual rate of over 20 percent down the road.

Bevor der Thread historisch wird, erwähne ich mal die Vorzugsaktien 009835 die (wie in Korea üblich) nur ca. ein Drittel der Stammaktien kosten.
