Topcell Solar International, Co., Ltd. News Release 2010/9/16 (2010/9/16)
Topcell Solar International, Co., Ltd (“TSi”) was founded on April 2010, a crystalline-based solar cell designer and manufacture in Taiwan. TSi has very experienced R&D team and targets to develop and manufacture new generation high efficiency solar cells. Initial capital of TSi is 800 million NT dollars. New Business Unit of UMC group invested 530 million NT dollars in TSi for 60% stake, sharing UMC group’s expansion in traditional crystalline-based solar cell business; joining the green industry, TSi devotes to become the leader in crystalline-based solar cell industry and voice for Taiwan solar alliances.
At the fledging phase of TSi, employee number is only one digit. In April 2010, we begin to move into the office and to set up the Fab, with all staff’s continuous efforts and passion, machinery move-in starts as scheduled and the first cell is produced midnight of 25th of August and the mass production follows immediately at the same day.
The current capacity of TSi is 150MW and will grow to 450MW at Q1 2011; we expect to reach more than 800MW in Q3 (2011) when our employee number will be more than 2000.
TSi will continue to develop core technology and total product solution to bring the latest technology to our customers worldwide for competitiveness advantage; with the state-of-the-art machinery and patent registration, TSi has the capability to market high efficiency solar cells and devotes to advanced technology development to bring the conversation efficiency of solar cells to the next new level.
Looking into the future, Topcell Solar International bears the goal of achieving grid-parity therefore Topcell will continuously introduce the latest and advanced solar cell products to the world and contribute to the green goal of energy saving and carbon footprint lowering for our generations.
