One ADS share representing 5 ordinary shares of the Company.

ADS (x5 = 40 Mio.) = 169 Mio. ordninary shares.
      Income/Aktie: 55 : 169 = 0,32 USD pro ordinary share x 5 = 1,62 USD pro ADS

      Fourth Quarter 2010 Results

      Revenues

Revenues in the fourth quarter of 2010 were $81.9 million, an increase of 29.6% from the third quarter of 2010 and a 158.2% increase from the fourth quarter of 2009. The increase was primarily attributable to an increase in revenues generated from sales of polysilicon. The Company sold approximately 966 MT of polysilicon, which contributed revenues of $73.4 million in the fourth quarter of 2010, compared to revenues of $55.2 million for 973 MT of polysilicon sold in the third quarter of 2010, and revenues of $31.7 million for 597 MT of polysilicon sold in the fourth quarter of 2009. The increase from the third quarter of 2010 in revenues was primarily due to a higher average selling price for the polysilicon product. The increase from the fourth quarter of 2009 in revenues was also primarily due to the higher average selling price of polysilicon product combined with the higher sales volume.

In the fourth quarter of 2010 the Company also generated $6.6 million and $1.9 million for the sales of PV modules and wafers respectively.

      Gross profit and margin

Gross profit in the fourth quarter of 2010 was $45.8 million, compared to $26.9 million in the third quarter of 2010 and $8.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Gross margin was 55.9% in the fourth quarter of 2010, compared to 42.5% in the third quarter of 2010 and 25.5% in the fourth quarter of 2009. The increase from the third quarter of 2010 in gross profit and the gross margin was primarily due to a higher average selling price for the polysilicon product. The increase from the fourth quarter of 2009 in gross profit and the gross margin was also mainly due to higher average selling price of the polysilicon combined with lower production cost per kilogram for the polysilicon product.

      Operating expenses

Total operating expenses in the fourth quarter of 2010 were $4.5 million, an increase of $1.6 million from the third quarter of 2010 and $5.0 million from the fourth quarter of 2009. The increase from the third quarter of 2010 was primarily due to $1.2 million expenses as a result of the shut-down period in December 2010. The increase from the fourth quarter of 2009 was primarily due to the decrease of government subsidy.

      Operating income and margin

As a result of foregoing, operating income in the fourth quarter of 2010 was $41.3 million, compared to $24.0 million in the third quarter of 2010 and $8.6 million in the fourth quarter of 2009. Operating margin was 50.4%, compared to 38.0% in the third quarter of 2010 and 27.1% in the fourth quarter of 2009.

      Net Interest expense

Net interest expense in the fourth quarter of 2010 was $1.8 million, compared to $2.3 million in the third quarter of 2010, and $1.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2009. The decrease from the third quarter of 2010 was primarily due to reduction in the Company's average short-term and long-term borrowing and the interest capitalization in the fourth quarter of 2010.

      Foreign exchange loss

The foreign exchange loss in the fourth quarter of 2010 was $0.5 million, compared to $0.7 million in the third quarter of 2010.

      Income tax expense

Income tax expense in the fourth quarter of 2010 was $6.0 million, compared to $3 million in the third quarter of 2010 and income tax benefit of $3.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2009. The increase from the third quarter of 2010 was primarily due to the higher income before tax in the fourth quarter of 2010, while the year-over-year increase was primarily due to the lower R&D tax deduction and lower investment tax credit in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Net Income attributable to our shareholders, margin and earnings per share

Net income attributable to Daqo New Energy Corp. shareholders was $32.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2010, compared to a net income of $17.7 million in the third quarter of 2010 and $10.0 million in the fourth quarter of 2009.

Net margin attributable to Daqo New Energy Corp. shareholders was 40.1% in the fourth quarter of 2010, compared to 28.0% in the third quarter of 2010 and 31.4% in the fourth quarter of 2009.

The increase of profit margin was primarily due to the lower production cost per kilogram for polysilicon production cost marginally offset by lower average selling price of polyslicon.

      Operating expenses

Total operating expenses for 2010 were $13.7 million, compared to $5.5 million for 2009. The increase in the operating expenses was primarily due to decrease in government subsidy of $3.2 million and a $2.7 million charges related to a withdrawn IPO during the first quarter of 2010.

Auriga: Solar Overcapacity Won’t Be A Problem, Top Picks DQ, SOL, TSL, YGE, STP
      Posted by Tate Dwinnell | # |

      08:59:43 am on March 30, 2011

Usually, I just posts highlights of the reports from Mark Bachman from Auriga, but this morning decided to just publish in full. Thoughts?

As the second act of the Italian solar drama begins, we look at the bear argument of "too much 2012 capacity leading to uncontrollable price and margin declines." At the risk of starting a larger food fight, we provide our view on how industry capacity develops and show that actual shipments end up materially lower than stated capacity, and that installations are another step lower than shipments. This does not counter our view of continuing module price declines — lower prices are required to open newer markets and soak up supply — but we think a better understanding of shipments vs. capacity highlights an overcooked argument. We continue to focus on names that benefit from higher polysilicon prices and whose supply chain is minimally exposed to spot poly prices. Our top picks are Daqo (DQ, Buy) and Renesola (SOL, Buy), followed by Trina Solar (TSL, Buy), Yingli (YGE, Buy) and Suntech (STP, Buy).

      · Time shift accounts for bulk of apparent overcapacity. It is easy to understand how small differences between stated capacity plans and actual capex progression can lead to lower shipments than suggested by the outright announcements. An aspect rarely discussed is the idea today’s capacity plan addresses demand two years from now. While it is clear that expansion of existing facilities occurs quickly and addresses medium-term demand, it might be more important to compare capacity plans against next year’s demand expectations rather than this year’s expectations; as the solar industry continues to grow, one can argue that suppliers are simply skating toward expected demand. Discussions with companies suggest outsize capex plans are more about capturing peak near-term demand rather than normalized demand, and that out-year demand is expected to catch up.

      · Facilities are always underutilized. At the end of 2009, headlines were rife with fearful comments similar to "we only see 8GW demand in 2010, but industry capacity could approach 18GW," reflecting concern about the capacity announcements by major suppliers. The industry ended 2010 closer to 22GW of stated capacity but still exhibited strong prices with demand near 16GW. This discrepancy is likely a result of the near-constant underutilization of the industry as it builds capacity ahead of demand. Looking back, it seems fair to discount stated capacity by ~40% to account for achievable installations in a year (effective capacity is essentially 60% of stated capacity).

      · Channel inventory is significant. Comparing shipments to installations, we find a differential ranging from 10%-30%, indicating shipment into the channel accounting for the time delay between shipment and installation. As the market grows, it seems reasonable to assume the percentage of industry shipments in the channel should shrink, but we note that 10% channel inventory in 4Q08/1Q09 resulted in a substantial snapback in 2H09. Current indications suggest channel inventory is once again low, potentially mitigating the apparent overcapacity suggested by industry capex plans.

      · Prices should come down in a manageable fashion for low-cost suppliers. The general thesis on solar is that lower prices open more markets, allowing lower margins to be offset by higher volume. We continue to expect this scenario to play out and expect prices to come down over time. While there have been substantial announcements of capacity expansions capable of serving lower priced markets, there is also substantial legacy capacity that is not able to serve these lower priced markets. As more industry focus is placed on newer markets, stagnation in markets served by legacy equipment should lead to a roll-off in high-cost supply. This could be disastrous for companies providing such high-cost supply, but should be manageable for companies whose cost roadmaps match or outpace price declines.

Asia solar takeaways: 2011 could pleasantly surprise despite pricing, demand flux

April 4, 2011 - Top Chinese solar companies are likely to ride out pricing softness due in part to global market uncertainties, willing to suffer ASP hits to drive market share, according to an analyst citing conversations with several vendors.

Policy changes and uncertainty in Italy's market has caused some short-term supply disruptions and pricing impact, but without much impact to Chinese Tier 1 suppliers, write Barclays' Vishal Shah in a research note. In this environment, look for companies emphasizing lower costs and vertical integration (e.g. Trina Solar, Suntech) to benefit, with more vulnerability felt by higher-cost suppliers (e.g. ENER and other US/EU firms) that have higher exposure to spot demand (Tier 2). This should play out in 1Q11 numbers when they come out in a couple of weeks, he says -- "tier 1 companies may still be able to meet/exceed consensus estimates while earnings of tier 2 companies that experience greater than expected ASP declines could fall short of expectations."

Among his listed key takeaways from meetings in Asia:

Share, not profits. Tier 1 companies are more focused on gaining market share than on profitability, which creates a pricing-pressure environment for everyone. (Sound familiar for semiconductors?)

Pricing worries + verticality = better 2011. Chinese cell and module companies aren't very confident on the outlook for volume or pricing, thanks in part to uncertainty in Italy. "That said, companies are bringing on new vertically integrated supply, have cost structures of ~$1.25/W or lower and are willing to lower ASPs to drive market share," Shah writes. And so he thinks 2011 might actually have an upside surprise in demand, possibly exceeding his 21GW outlook.

Germany recovering, US flexible. Demand in Germany "is starting to recover," now at €1.25/W ASPs. If ASPs were €1.05/W or lower, 2011 could look a lot like 2010 for Germany, he writes. And in the US, if ASPs get to $1.45/W or lower, demand could also surprise to the upside.

Poly prices steady. Pricing for polysilicon is still higher than a year ago (~$90/kg); some companies expect them to decline in the near future, but Shah thinks there won't be a big correction until late 2011 or even 2012. Why? Poly demand is seasonally weakest in the first calendar quarter and tends to increase through the year. And just a $20/kg decline in poly spot prices translates to a ~$0.12/W cost structure reduction, "sufficient enough for companies to absorb $1.40-$1.45/W module ASPs" as the aforementioned demand trigger, he writes.

Auriga Reiterates a 'Buy' on Daqo New Energy (DQ); Mr. Toad's Wild Ride

      April 14, 2011 8:31 AM EDT

Auriga reiterates a 'Buy' on Daqo New Energy (NYSE: DQ), PT $22.

Auriga analyst says, "The price chart for shares of DQ since its IPO reminds us of an amusement park ride. Although going through constant undulations, the ride always seems to arrive safely back at the station (near the IPO price); thus, the thrill of appreciation is short-lived. While the price action largely follows the performance of the solar industry as a whole, we are disappointed that investors do not recognize the stock specific attributes to drive the stock appreciably higher. Specifically, the end market for polysilicon has increased substantially since Q4 2010 and the consensus EPS estimates on DQ have increased roughly 2X since the IPO, yet the stock still trades between 4X and 5X our earnings estimates. Our latest channel checks on the company suggest that the expansion plans remain on-track, while our industry pricing checks suggest there is likely still upside to our near-term estimates as there has been no decrease in spot polysilicon prices. Over the longer term, we remind investors that our 2012 estimates, which drive our price target, are predicated on poly pricing of just $45/kg.

Shares of Chinese solar firm LDK Solar Company (NYSE: LDK - News) are plunging 5% after the company slashed its first-quarter revenue forecast to $745-$755 million from $800-$850 million while also paring its forecast for solar wafer sales in the quarter. LDK now expects sales of 625-635 megawatts, below the 610-660 MW the firm previously forecast.

Solar module sales would also fall short and were now seen between 109 to 114 MW, down from the previous range of 120 to 140 MW, according to Reuters. While LDK stuck by its full-year revenue guidance of $3.5-$3.7 billion, that isn't enough to help the Solar Stocks Index, which is down 1%.

LDK did note that orders in the first quarter outpaced what the company saw a year earlier and added that it expects polysilicon prices to increase. Despite the bullish sentiment, several of LDK's rivals are following the company lower.

ReneSola (NYSE: SOL - News), Suntech Power Holdings Co (NYSE: STP - News) and Trina Solar (NYSE: TSL - News) are all down 3% while Canadian Solar (NASDAQ: CSIQ - News), JinkoSolar Holding (NYSE: JKS - News) and JA Solar Holdings (NASDAQ: JASO - News) are all lower by 2%.

      First Quarter 2011 Results

      Revenues

Revenues in the first quarter of 2011 were $87.3 million, an increase of 6.6% from the fourth quarter of 2010 and a 93.6% increase from the first quarter of 2010. The increase was primarily attributable to an increase in revenues generated from sales of polysilicon. The Company sold approximately 1,089 MT of polysilicon, which contributed revenues of $77.7 million in the first quarter of 2011, compared to revenues of $73.4 million for 966 MT of polysilicon sold in the fourth quarter of 2010, and revenues of $42.3 million for 815 MT of polysilicon sold in the first quarter of 2010. The increase from the fourth quarter of 2010 in revenues was primarily due to a higher sales volume for the polysilicon product, partially offset by lower average selling price in the first quarter of 2011. The increase from the first quarter of 2010 in revenues was also primarily due to the higher average selling price of polysilicon product combined with the higher sales volume.

In the first quarter of 2011 the Company also generated $8.6 million and $1.0 million for the sales of PV modules and wafers, respectively.

      Gross profit and margin

Gross profit in the first quarter of 2011 was $44.5 million, a decrease of 2.8% compared to $45.8 million in the fourth quarter of 2010 and an increase of 214.9% compared to $14.1 million in the first quarter of 2010.

Gross margin was 51.0% in the first quarter of 2011, compared to 55.9% in the fourth quarter of 2010 and 31.3% in the first quarter of 2010. The decrease from the fourth quarter of 2010 in gross profit and the gross margin was primarily due to lower average selling price of the polysilicon product combined with higher production cost per kilogram for the polysilicon product primarily due to higher electricity cost during the quarter. The increase from the first quarter of 2010 in gross profit and the gross margin was also mainly due to higher average selling price of the polysilicon and higher shipment volume combined with lower production cost per kilogram for the polysilicon product.

      Operating expenses

Total net operating expenses in the first quarter of 2011 were $1.0 million, a decrease from $4.5 million in the fourth quarter of 2010 and $3.5 million in the first quarter of 2010. The decrease from the fourth quarter of 2010 was primarily due to $2.1 million increase of government subsidy in the first quarter of 2011 and $808K expenses related to the scheduled shut-down during the fourth quarter of 2010. The decrease in the operating expenses from the first quarter of 2010 was primarily due to a $2.7 million charges related to a withdrawn IPO during the first quarter of 2010.

      Operating income and margin

As a result of foregoing, operating income in the first quarter of 2011 was $43.5 million, compared to $41.3 million in the fourth quarter of 2010 and $10.6 million in the first quarter of 2010. Operating margin was 49.8%, compared to 50.4% in the fourth quarter of 2010 and 23.5% in the first quarter 2010.

      Net Interest expense

Net interest expense in the fourth quarter of 2011 was $1.8 million, which remained constant with the fourth quarter 2010, and $2.6 million in the first quarter of 2010. The decrease from the first quarter of 2010 was primarily due to reduction in the Company’s average short-term and long-term borrowings and interest capitalized in the first quarter of 2011.

      Income tax expense

Income tax expense in the first quarter of 2011 was $6.5 million, compared to $6.0 million in the fourth quarter of 2010 and $1.7 million in the first quarter of 2010. The increase from the fourth quarter 2010 and the first quarter of 2010 was primarily due to the higher income before tax in the first quarter of 2011.

Net Income attributable to our shareholders, net margin and earnings per share

Net income attributable to Daqo New Energy Corp. shareholders was $35.0 million in the first quarter of 2011, compared to net income of $32.8 million in the fourth quarter 2010 and $6.3 million in the first quarter of 2010.

Net margin was 40.1% in the first quarter of 2011, which remained constant with the fourth quarter of 2010 and 13.9% in the first quarter of 2010.

Earnings per fully diluted ADS were $0.99, compared to $0.95 in the fourth quarter of 2010, and $0.20 in the first quarter of 2010. Earnings per fully diluted ordinary share were $0.20, compared to $0.19 in the fourth quarter of 2010 and $0.04 in the first quarter of 2010.

      Financial Condition

As of March 31, 2011, Daqo New Energy Corp. had $182.2 million in cash and cash equivalents and restricted cash, compared with $203.7 million as of December 31, 2010. As of March 31, 2011, the accounts receivable balance was $22.8 million, compared to $15.2 million as of December 31, 2010. As of March 31, 2011, total borrowings were $146.2 million, of which $75.3 million were long-term borrowings, while total borrowings were $154.6 million, of which $83.0 million were long-term borrowings as of December 31, 2010.

      Q2 2011 Outlook

For the second quarter of 2011, the Company expects its total revenue to be in the range of $92 million to $95 millions. The Company expects to ship between 950 MT to 1000 MT of polysilicon and generate revenues from the sales of polysilicon in an amount between US$64.5 million to US$67.5 million in the second quarter of 2011. The Company also expects to ship approximately 7 MW of wafer and generate about $4.5 million of revenue. The Company expects PV module sales to be approximately $23 million with the sales of approximately 14 MW PV modules under the Company's own brand and sales of approximately 2.5 MW PV modules outsourcing for its customers. This outlook reflects our current and preliminary view and may be subject to change. Our ability to achieve this outlook is subject to significant risks. Solar-Cell Prices Slump in May on Subsidy Cuts, New Energy Finance Says
      By Ben Sills - May 16, 2011 2:57 PM GMT+0200

      inShare
      14More Print Email

The world’s biggest solar-panel manufacturers, including Suntech Power Holdings, are leading an expansion that will add at least 9.5 gigawatts of new manufacturing lines this year, New Energy Finance forecast. Photographer: Qilai Shen/Bloomberg

The price of solar cells, the main component of photovoltaic panels, dropped in May as additional supply hit the market and demand was curbed by European cuts to solar power subsidies, Bloomberg New Energy Finance said.

Monocrystalline cell prices slumped 7.5 percent to $1.14 per watt from the previous month and multicrystalline cells were down 8.7 percent at $1.09 per watt, according to a report by Martin Simonek, an analyst at the London-based research company. With the spot price of the raw material polysilicon posting a smaller decline of 5.1 percent to $74.4 per kilo, many cell manufacturers have seen their profit margins wiped out, he said.

“The cost of materials is much higher than they were expecting,” Simonek said in a telephone interview. “Polysilicon prices are killing a lot of cellmakers.”

The squeeze on margins may force smaller producers out of business or to seek a takeover from a bigger rival, Simonek said. Evergreen Solar Inc. last week said it may run out of cash unless it can find more investment and restructure its debts after sales slumped 55 percent in the first quarter.

Spectrawatt Inc., the cell maker backed by Goldman Sachs Group Inc., last month closed its Hopewell Junction, New York, plant, laying off 117 workers.

China’s JA Solar Holdings Co. and Suntech Power Holdings Co., the world’s biggest solar-panel manufacturers, are leading an expansion by a number of producers that together will add at least 9.5 gigawatts of new manufacturing lines this year, raising global capacity to 41.5 gigawatts compared with demand of no more than 28 gigawatts, New Energy Finance forecast.

      German Subsidies

German Chancellor Angel Merkel last week said Germany may have to consider additional cuts to its subsidized solar tariff, which swallows half the country’s financial support for alternative energy. Italy this month passed a law which will progressively lower subsidies through the end of next year.

While competition is increasing in the market for solar cells, polysilicon production is still controlled by a handful of companies, such as Oslo-based Renewable Energy Corp., Munich- based Wacker Chemie AG (WCH) and GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Ltd. (3800) of Hong Kong.

New Energy Finance is forecasting a shortage of polysilicon this year, with global production set to reach about 24 gigawatts. Additional demand for solar cells will likely be met by thin-film panels that generate power from other substances such as cadmium telluride.

Press Release Source: Daqo New Energy Corp. On Monday July 4, 2011, 8:00 am EDT

CHONGQING, China--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Daqo New Energy Corp. (NYSE:DQ - News) ("Daqo New Energy" or the "Company"), a leading polysilicon manufacturer based in China, today revised its second quarter 2011 revenue guidance.

Due to the impact of price decline throughout the entire photovoltaic (PV) supply chains in the second quarter of 2011, the Company updates its revenue guidance for the second quarter of 2011 to the following:

For the second quarter of 2011, the Company expects its total revenue to be in the range of $70 million to $71 million, compared to a prior guidance of range of $92 million to $95 million. The Company expects to ship between 970 MT to 990 MT of polysilicon in the second quarter of 2011. The Company also expects to ship approximately 0.7 MW of wafer, 4 MW PV modules under its own brand and sales of approximately 8 MW PV modules outsourcing for its customers.

“We had experienced a substantial price decline in the second quarter of 2011, and as a result, we are revising our revenue guidance for the second quarter of 2011,” says Jimmy Lai, CFO of the company. “The reduction in revenue guidance is mainly due to the less shipment in the down-stream product, wafer and module.”

DQ Recoups Some Losses; Wells Fargo Sees Better Times In ’12

      By Tiernan Ray

Shares of Chinese solar energy technology provider Daqo New Energy (DQ) had a rough day but managed to recoup some losses after the company yesterday said that due to a decline in prices throughout the solar technology industry, and lower-than-expected shipments, the company expects $70 million to $71 million in revenue, versus a prior forecast for $92 million to $95 million.

That is below analysts’ current estimate of $91 million. The shares fell as low as $6.83, a 13% drop, before regaining some ground to close down just 38 cents, or 5%, at $7.45.

Wells Fargo analyst Sam Dubinsky reiterated an Outperform rating on the stock today, writing that DQ’s “problems are not unique; solar companies continue to report weak quarters due to excess capacity and channel inventory,” but that “We see more stability in 2012 as high cost manufacturers exit the market and lower component pricing drives greater end demand.”

With DQ struggling in wafer and panel shipments, Dubinsky expects the company may at some point get out of those businesses altogether and focus on polysilicon shipments, which “is the main profitability engine.” Although the company may have experienced a 30% price decline on its polysilicon shipments in Q2, by his estimate, the company still managed to make gross profit of better than 40% of sales, which is above the industry average. Dubinsky expects polysilicon prices may “stabilize” at $40 per kilogram, below his prior estimate for $45 to $50 a kilo.

Dubinsky lowered his 2011 EPS estimate to $2.04 from a prior $2.70, and lowered his 2012 estimate to $1.18 from $1.97.

Collins Stewart’s Dan Ries, meanwhile, reiterated a Sell rating on DQ, and a $5.50 price target, as his estimates were already well below the Street’s. Ries cut his2011 EPS estimate to $1.91 from a prior $2.01, on revenue of perhaps $341 million, down from $354 million previously.

Buy Daqo New Energy ADS (DQ): DQ is a Chinese manufacturer of poly-silicon for use in photo-voltaic products such as ingots, wafers, cells and modules. Guru funds hold $10 million of this stock, including $9 million held by Kingdon Capital Management LLC and $1 million held by Driehaus Capital Management. During the quarter, three guru funds added a total of $4.1 million, including Kingdon Capital Management LLC ($2.5 million), Driehaus Capital Management ($1.1 million) and SAC Capital Advisors LP ($0.5 million). DQ trades at a forward P/E of 3, at the bottom of its historic P/E range, while earnings are projected to increase from $1.96 in 2009 to $2.69 in 2010. Analyst targets are in the $15-$25 range, more than 100% above the current $8 price; and of the four analysts covering the stock, three rate it a buy/strong buy and only rates it at underperform. On Wednesday, the company guided June 2011 quarter revenue and earnings to the downside and the stock gapped down ten percent, but it closed most of that gap at the close. This indicates that most of the downside risk is already priced in and the stock may indeed have put in a bottom in the $7 range and may be safe for accumulating.

      lt. Q1-Bericht

      1) haben sie eine Gesamtherstellkostenquote von 49% vom Umsatz gehabt

      2) 1089 MT Poly wurden zu 77,7 Mio. USD verkauft => $71,34/kg

      3) unter der Annahme dass die Polymarge nicht schlechter als die Gesamtmarge war, komme ich auf maximale Herstellkosten von 71,34 x 49% = 35$/kg

      4) unter der Annahme eines Verkaufs zu aktuellen Spotpreisen von rund 50$ und 950 MT lande ich bei einem Mindest-gross-margin von 14,25 Mio. USD; Wafer, Modul etc. mit Null bewertet, keine Mengen-upside, etc.

      5) bei ansonsten gleichen Kosten (nicht gesenkt) bleibt also immer noch ein Gewinn von rund 12 Mio. pre-tax und bei gleicher Steuerquote von 10 Mio. after tax übrig => macht 40 Mio .im Jahr = KGV von 6

      Durchschnitts-Spotpreis waren zuletzt 33,60 USD / kg.

      http://pvinsights.com/

"Couple companies to receive an immediate benefit would be Jinko, which buys almost all of poly from the spot market. Second best situated is Yingli with 30% purchases of poly made from the spot. In case of Yingli their Fine Silicon plant yields poly at $65 per kg. Consequently, procurement on spot acts as an offset to its expensive production, nonetheless, price of poly is expected to drop by 25% in Q3 and another 10% in Q4 for this producer."
      http://solarpvinvestor.com/news/spvi-news/74-silicon-spot-pr…

Also 65 USD/kg in der Eigenproduktion!

"The amount to be supplied in 2011 and 2012 shall be 1,500 tons for each year. Among the 1,500 tons to be supplied in 2011, 1,000 tons shall be supplied at the long-term contract price and 500 tons shall be supplied in accordance with the then prevailing market price. The price for Goods to be supplied in 2012 shall be determined in mid-2011. Detailed price and time of supply shall be determined in accordance with purchase orders confirmed by both parties."

      http://www.secinfo.com/d14D5a.r6J91.a.htm

"In 2009, our top three customers, Yingli Green Energy, ReneSola and Solargiga, accounted for approximately 28%, 13% and 12% of our total revenues, respectively, and the three customers in aggregate accounted for approximately 54% of our total revenues. During the six months ended June 30, 2010, our top three customers, Solargiga, China Sunergy and Tianwei New Energy, accounted for approximately 18%, 15% and 9% of our total revenues, respectively, and the three customers in aggregate accounted for approximately 42% of our total revenues."
      http://www.secinfo.com/d14D5a.r6J91.htm

Daqo produziert solche speziellen Silizium-Sorten:

      http://www.dqsolar.com/Technology.php

"The Goods to be supplied by Party A hereunder shall be solar grade no-clean polysilicon materials. The quality of such polysilicon materials shall comply with the following industrial standards: 60% of the Goods shall have N-type resistivity within the range of 50 to 100 ohm.cm and P-type resistivity within the range of 500 to 1,000 ohm.cm; and 40% of the Goods shall have N-type resistivity exceeding 100 ohm.cm and P-type resistivity exceeding 1,000 ohm.cm."

      http://www.secinfo.com/d14D5a.r6J91.a.htm

      Daqo-Aktie:
      LT Debt pS 2.36
      Capital Invested pS 9.86
      Earnings pS (EPS) 2.30
      Cash pS 3.59 $
      Book-Value pS 9.42 $
      PE Ratio - LTM 0.5

      Aktienkurs 2,00 USD pS

      http://de.advfn.com/p.php?pid=financials&symbol=NYSE%3ADQ

      Total Debt/Equity (Gearing Ratio)

      DQ 0,59
      STP 1,13
      YGE 1,25
      LDK 2,92

      http://www.pv-tech.org/news/daqo_new_energy_to_more_than_dou…

      http://www.pv-tech.org/news/daqo_receives_us150_million_loan…

In January 2009, we acquired Cyber Power, a development stage enterprise designed to produce polysilicon. Cyber Power, through its principal operating subsidiary, Fine Silicon, has started trial production of solar-grade polysilicon in late 2009 and is expected to reach its full production capacity of 3,000 tons per year by the end of 2011. However, we do not expect that our in-house polysilicon production capacity will meet our entire polysilicon needs in the near future."

      http://google.brand.edgar-online.com/EFX_dll/EDGARpro.dll?Fe…

November 22, 2011 (Chinavestor) Four Chinese companies reported earnings between 4:00 P.M. yesterday and 8:30 A.M. this morning. Trina Solar (NYSE:TSL) and Jinko Solar (NYSE:JKS) opened earnings for Chinese solar this week on Monday.

The following charts go back to 2010 Q2 and display how these companies have done since then. IMPORTANT - Jinko Solar (NYSE:JSK) and JA Solar (NASDAQ:JASO) reported in RMB while Suntech (NYSE:STP) and Tina Solar (NYSE:TSL) numbers are in $US.

      Trina Solar [$ million]

      Jinko Solar [RMB million]

      Suntech Power [$ million]

      JA Solar [ RMB million]

First observation: Jinko Solar (NYSE:JKS) was able to report a quarterly profit while the rest swung to a net loss. Suntech Power reported a net loss of $116.4 million, more than the rest of them combined. Trina Solar (NYSE:TSL) lost $31.5 million while JA Solar (NASDAQ:JASO) reported a net loss of $58.9 million (RMB375.9 million).

Suntech Power (NYSE:STP) had cash of $458 million, down from $946 million a year earlier. The company had short-term borrowings of $1,582 million. Considering that Suntech Power (NYSE:STP) burnt $116.4 million in the last quarter, liquidity is going to be an issue.

Trina Solar (NYSE:TSL) is in a better shape from a financial point of view. For a detailed analysis, please read Trina Solar Swung to Q3 Net Loss

JA Solar (NASDAQ:JASO) had $504 million cash at hand compared to short-term obligations of $56 million. The company burnt $59.8 million in the third quarter, a relatively slow pace compared to its cash pile. Short term liquidity is not an issue.

Jinko Solar (NYSE:JKS) was able to report a net profit and is looking the best among these four, at least for now.

Investors have to wait till Wednesday to get a better picture of the Chinese solar landscape. This is when Yingli Green Energy (NYSE:YGE) will report, a company that reported net profit for the previous quarter.

Solar Stocks That May Not Survive to 2014

      http://www.thestreet.com/story/11390365/7/solar-stocks-that-…

      ...
Daqo New Energy shares are up 58% this year.

Simko has a different view of the Chinese polysilicon producer. "This is another company in big trouble," the analyst said.

The problem for Daqo is, like the panel makers that are struggling, about cost structure. However, in the case of Daqo it is about the market price for polysilicon versus its production price.

Polysilicon prices -- which once upon a time were as high as $300 per kilogram -- recently stabilized at around the $30 range thanks to the German demand pickup. Polysilicon prices were below $30 per kilogram just a month ago.

Daqo New Energy can't do enough to reduce its cost structure.

As Collins Stewart analyst Dan Ries recently wrote, "While Daqo is expanding and retrofitting its polysilicon product facilities to reduce costs...the polysilicon industry is facing a multi-year period of excess capacity. DQ's attempt to reduce its dependence on polysilicon with expansion into wafers and modules seems unlikey to payoff, as those business are extremely challenging even for vendors with brand and scale. If all goes well (production cost reduce to $21/kg from $29-30/kg today), DQ may return to profitability in CY13, but even then, earnings would be minor and its debt load high. We see little value in DQ's equity."

Daqo had cash of $60 million and debt of $269 million as of its last quarterly report in November.

Simko said it's hard to see how the Daqo story pans outs.

"To me, it's one more solar company where we don't know what happens, and it's better to stick with bigger companies with better financial statements."

Overall, Simko's outlook is to proceed with caution. "Solar could become like wind turbine manufacturers. Everyone uses the same technology and wind turbine margins disappear. When supply and demand is out of whack, it's a brutal business and there are very few companies left at the end of the day," he said.

Daqo’s polysilicon Phase 3a expansion said to be on track

China-based polysilicon and multicrystalline ingot/wafer producer Daqo New Energy was said to be on track to complete its Phase 3a polysilicon plant expansion and full ramp-up by mid-2017, according to ROTH Capital analyst, Philip Shen.

Shen said in an investor note that a recent visit to Daqo’s facilities, confirmed the 6,000MT polysilicon production expansion was ‘well underway’ and would be fully financed via bank loans, with capital expenditure requirements of around US$90 million to US$100 million.

Upon completion and ramp-up, Daqo would have a polysilicon nameplate capacity of around 18,000MT. Shen also noted that Daqo had the lowest polysilicon production costs across the sector with a GAAP cost structure of US$9.65/kg and cash cost of US$7.62/kg in the first quarter of 2016.

Daqo secures US$76 million for polysilicon production expansion

By Mark Osborne Jun 23, 2016

The polysilicon producer said the proceeds of the credit line would be used for capital expenditures related to its Phase 3A expansion project, which is expected to increase the capacity from 12,150MT to 18,000MT by the end of the second quarter of 2017.

Rapidly expanding China-based polysilicon and wafer producer Daqo New Energy has secured a RMB500 million (US$76.05 million) line of credit from Chongqing Rural Commercial Bank to expand polysilicon production by nearly 50%.

The polysilicon producer said the proceeds of the credit line would be used for capital expenditures related to its Phase 3A expansion project, which is expected to increase the capacity from 12,150MT to 18,000MT by the end of the second quarter of 2017.

Dr. Gongda Yao, CEO of Daqo New Energy said, "As a tier-one Chinese polysilicon manufacturer, our globally leading cost structure and promising profitability has served as the corner stone for our continued cooperation with Chongqing Rural Commercial Bank. The loan will provide strong capital support for our Phase 3A expansion project and afford us more flexibility in pursuing our future growth."

      anscheinend ja:
China-based polysilicon and wafer producer Daqo New Energy has reported record production and financial metrics on strong demand in the second quarter of 2016.

Daqo exceeded its nameplate polysilicon capacity in the quarter with production reaching 3,570MT, compared to 3,405MT in the previous quarter, which surpassed its annual name plate capacity of 12,150MT. The company has produced a total of over 13,200 MT of polysilicon over the past four quarters.

As a result, Daqo set a new global Siemens-based polysilicon production cost benchmark of US$9.43/kg, compared to US$9.65/kg in the previous quarter.

Daqo sets new polysilicon production and revenue records

The company has produced a total of over 13,200 MT of polysilicon over the past four quarters.

Dr. Gongda Yao, CEO of Daqo New Energy said, "During the quarter, we produced a record-high of 3,570 MT of polysilicon, which surpassed our annual name plate capacity of 12,150 MT. With our continuous effort on cost reduction, we reached our lowest ever cost structure with US$9.43/kg in total cost and US$7.42/kg in cash cost. Our current cost structure is 27% below Q2 2015 level, which at the time was already one of the lowest in the world. We believe we continue to be one of the lowest cost producers of polysilicon in the world in Q2 2016, and with further technology upgrades and process improvements, we believe we have a roadmap to reduce our cost even lower. Daqo drives polysilicon production costs down to US$8.41/kg in Q1

By Mark Osborne May 09, 2017

China-based polysilicon producer Daqo New Energy has reported its best ever financial quarter in terms of cost structure, production volume and polysilicon quality as it fully ramped annual capacity to 18,000MT.

Daqo reported that in the first quarter of 2017, its polysilicon average total production cost fell to US$8.41/kg, down from US$9.98/kg in the previous quarter and the lowest so far and the lowest in the industry for Siemens-based polysilicon production.

The company also reported a polysilicon cash cost of US$6.68/kg in the quarter, which decreased from US$7.34/kg in the previous quarter.

Average selling price (ASP) of polysilicon was US$16.66/kg in the quarter, which increased from US$14.96/kg in the previous quarter, due to increased demand.

Demand for wafers also increased in the quarter with a sales volume of 22.4 million pieces, up from 21.3 million pieces in the previous quarter.

As result of higher production, better ASP’s and demand, Daqo reported revenue of US$83.8 million in the first quarter of 2017, up 81.8% from US$46.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Gross profit was US$35.9 million, an increase of 152.8% from US$14.2 million in the previous quarter. Gross margin was 42.8%, compared to 30.7% in the previous quarter.

Dr. Gongda Yao, Chief Executive Officer of Daqo New Energy, commented: “During the quarter, we fully ramped up our Xinjiang polysilicon facility to 18,000 MT annual capacity and achieved full production. Our capacity ramp-up progressed ahead of schedule. We produced 4,927 MT of polysilicon in the first quarter of 2017, an increase of 100.6% as compared to the fourth quarter of 2016. While achieving a substantial increase in sequential polysilicon production volume, we also saw strong demand for our high quality products from our customers, and achieved the highest sales volume in the Company's history with market share gain.”

      Guidance

Daqo said it expected to produce 4,800MT to 5,000MT of polysilicon and sell approximately 4,200MT to 4,500MT to external customers during the second quarter of 2017. Wafer sales volume was expected to be approximately 23.5 million to 24 million pieces.

“Overall, the annual PV volume demand for this year is anticipated to be rather evenly spread between the first and the second half of the year,” added Dr. Gongda. “While the PV end market demand environment is very dynamic and may lead to polysilicon ASP volatility, we believe overall volume demand for the year is solid and healthy. Our cost leadership should help the company to weather through the market volatility."
