Vom kalifornischen Betreiber Aurora Feint Inc. wurde zunächst eine Fünf-Jahres-Lizenz erworben. Anfangs werden die Spiele nur für Handys mit Android-Betriebssystem angeboten. In naher Zukunft sollen allerdings auch Geräte mit Apples iOS darauf zugreifen können. OpenFeint ermöglicht es den Usern, mittels ihrer Smartphones in Echtzeit gegeneinander zu spielen. Die Spiele-Plattform ist seit 18 Monaten in Betrieb und bietet seinen mehr als 50 Millionen registrierten Usern etwa 3.800 mobile Spiele an. The9 hofft, mit der Einführung von OpenFeint künftig endlich wieder schwarze Zahlen zu schreiben. Seit dem zweiten Quartal 2009, als die Lizenz für das populäre Online Game "World of Warcraft" auslief, macht das Unternehmen kontinuierlich Verluste. Im zweiten Quartal dieses Jahres ging der Umsatz im Jahresvergleich um 91 Prozent zurück, während sich der Verlust auf 65,8 Millionen Yuan (7,53 Millionen Euro) belief. Laut einer Studie von Analysis International wird die Zahl der chinesischen Nutzer von mobilen Online-Games von 2011 bis 2013 um 41 Prozent auf 276 Millionen Kunden wachsen. Der Umsatz am chinesischen Markt soll zu diesem Zeitpunkt 9,6 Milliarden Yuan betragen.

jetzt muß erstmal bewiesen werden, daß sich mit der Investition auch Geld für die Firma verdienen läßt....

The9, a Chinese online game developer, has made an undisclosed minority equity investment in Aurora Feint, the company behind OpenFeint, a social gaming network for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.


Die besitzen eine Minderheitsbeteiligung an Aurora Feint und bauen diese fett in ihre eigenen Applikationen ein. Bei Aurora Feint sollen sich angeblich bereits 50 Mio. Mitglieder angemeldet haben. Alleine diese Beteiligung dürfte schon krass was wert sein. Bestimmt hat man ein Mitspracherecht für die Lizenzvergabe. Auf jedenfall ereignet sich dort gerade eine Win-Win-Situation.

Social game platforms are hot, and here’s more proof: Intel Capital and Chinese online game publisher The9 have invested $8 million in social game platform company Aurora Feint, which runs the equivalent of the Xbox Live gaming service for Apple and Android mobile phones.

The9’s investment had previously been revealed. But Intel Capital is the newest participant in the second round of funding for Burlingame, Calif.-based Aurora Feint. Aurora Feint runs the Open Feint social game platform, which has more than 3,400 games that are played by more than 45 million gamers.


Jason Citron, chief executive of Aurora Feint, said the company will use the money to expand its investments in its platform for socializing games on the iPhone and Android operating systems. Developers use the company’s Open Feint software development kit to make their games more social, adding features such as leaderboards, friend challenges, or achievements. Those features prompt users to share their games, enabling games to spread more rapidly among friends, just as they do on social networks such as Facebook or Xbox Live. The offloading of these tasks allows game developers to concentrate on making a good game.

“Having a big brand like Intel support us is another stamp of legitimacy for us,” Citron said.

This sector of the social gaming ecosystem is getting more competitive. Ngmoco had developed its Plus+ social game platform for social sharing. That was one of the reasons that Japan’s DeNA agreed to pay as much as $400 million for Ngmoco last week. Other rivals include PapayaMobile, Mocospace, and Scoreloop.

Aurora Feint previously raised money from DeNA, which invested $3 million for a 20 percent stake last year. Now Citron finds himself in a somewhat awkward position, since DeNA now owns Aurora Feint’s competitor Ngmoco. It’s a delicate situation as to what happens next, Citron acknowledged.

Mike Buckley, managing director of Intel Capital, said that interest in mobile gaming has exploded in the past few years, creating a huge market opportunity. Open Feint’s popularity with developers and users made the investment attractive. On top of that, Intel has taken its own interest in creating an app store for netbooks. Over time, Intel’s own strategic interest in Aurora Feint will likely become more evident, saidVenu Pemmaraju, investment director of Intel Capital.

Aurora Feint got its start making a social platform for the iPhone. Apple has since created its own social platform with the launch of Game Center for the iPhone. But Citron said his company can coexist with Game Center because it can add features on top of what Apple offers. Aurora Feint also diversified to the Android platform last month. Now players can play each other across game platforms, letting friends join each other in games regardless of what phone they have.

Aurora Feint has about 45 employees.

Chinese publisher The9 has announced an agreement to set up a $100 million fund for mobile development.

The publisher has entered into a memorandum of understanding with three investment firms – Chengwei Ventures, ChinaRock Capital Management and China Renaissance K2 Ventures – to set up the fund, which will invest in mobile app development both in China and overseas.

“Mobile internet application and platform has become a significant part of the mobile and internet industry with a rapidly growing number of smartphone users, especially in China,” said Jun Zhu, The9’s chairman and CEO. “We noticed that there are many talented and creative domestic development teams. If they receive financial and other support such as marketing, operation and administration, their chance of success will be much higher.”

The9 was the original publisher of World Of Warcraft in China, and now operates its own and licensed MMOGs and casual games. In a separate release yesterday the firm announced it had secured a licence to bring Aurora Feint’s mobile social networking platform OpenFeint, which runs on Android and iOS, to China for the next five years.

Vor allem vor dem Hintergrund, dass Facebook jetzt bereits 50 Milliarden Dollar wert sein soll, wäre THE9 atemberaubend unterbewertet.

Gerne würde ich mir mal die Produkte ansehen. Einen Vergleich mit Facebook sehe ich erstmal nicht, da FB bereits unglaublich stark und ausbalanciert weltweit verbreitet sind.

Fakt ist natürlich auch, dass The9 endlich wieder schwarze Zahlen schreiben muss. Munich, hast Du hier weitere Informationen? Z.B. Präsentationen für Analysten/Investoren?

Trotzalledem eine Unterbewertung ist bereits durch den hohen Cash Bestand vs. niedriger Marktkapitalisierung eklatant.

Mittlerweile sind es schon über 50 Mio. Spieler. Intel Capital (ist nicht irgendjemand) hat sich zusammen mit THE9 im Oktober in einer zweiten Finanzierungsrunde bei Aurora Feint eingekauft. THE9 hatte sich bereits im Juli 2010 in einer ersten Finanzierungsrunde eine Minderheitsbeteiligung an Open Feint gesichert. Man hält sich ziemlich bedeckt, was da rauskommen soll. Es muss jedoch etwas ganz großes sein, sonst würde sich nicht drei chinesische Großinvestoren (Chengwei Ventures, ChinaRock Capital Management and China Renaissance K2 Ventures) für 100 Mio. $ die Beine breit machen.

Chinese investors see mobile technology boom in 2011

Mobile gaming, application development attract attention of Chinese technology investors.
China's mobile game and application development market is attracting significant attention, with big deals and new funds pointing to one of 2011's hot markets, investors said.

In the past three months, two publicly traded Chinese technology companies have launched funds targeting the mobile Internet market in China and two start-ups have raised big rounds to roll out mobile applications.

The most recent sign of the mobile market's importance for China's investors is the $100 million fund launched by the Shanghai-based game developer and operator The9 Ltd. and venture funds Chengwei Ventures, ChinaRock Capital Management and China Renaissance K2 Ventures.
The fund follows the partnership of another publicly traded company, the Hong Kong-listed NetDragon Websoft Inc., with IDG Capital Partners to form the mFund in late November. The mFund will invest $50 million in mobile Internet applications, content and services, according to a statement from the company. NetDragon and IDG both declined to comment beyond the press release.

Foreign companies are also feeling the pull of China's mobile market. Earlier this year, BlackBerry Partners Fund, which is managed in part by Research In Motion Ltd., the manufacturer of BlackBerry smartphones, made its foray into the country with a new $100 million affiliate pool of capital dedicated to mobile computing.

The fund, called BlackBerry Partners Fund China LP, will add to a $150 million first venture fund raised in 2008 by Toronto-based BlackBerry Partners, which is managed by Research in Motion, the Royal Bank of Canada, Thomson Reuters Corp. and Canadian venture firm JLA Ventures.

Chinese private equity firm China Broadband Capital Partners helped BlackBerry Partners raise the new $100 million, which is expected to close at the end of August, said Co-Managing Partner Kevin Talbot in an April interview.

"If you look at China, 20% of the market is smartphones and you've got the rollout of 3G and that's creating very fertile ground for mobile applications and mobile gaming," said technology analyst Michael Clendenin, managing director and founder of RedTech Advisors (China) LLC.

General Administration of Press and Publication's (GAPP) Department of Technology and Digital Publishing and Copyright Protection Center of China have jointly directed 16 of China's online gaming companies and organizations to form the "China Online Gaming Copyright Protection Alliance" to combat game copyright infringement issues.

Die Facebook-Blase wird aufgepumpt

In den USA bahnt sich die nächste Anleger-Abzocke an: Im Vorfeld eines Börsengangs wird der "Wert" des Unternehmens Facebook stark hochgetrieben. Die Bewertung entspricht einem Kurs-Gewinn-Verhältnis von 125.

Wie viel ist das virtuelle soziale Netzwerk „Facebook“ des vom „Time Magazin“ soeben zum Mann des Jahres gekürten Unternehmerjungstars Marc Zuckerberg wert? Interessante Frage. Zumal das Unternehmen ja spätestens 2012, möglicherweise aber noch heuer an die Börse will.

Die amerikanische Investmentbank Goldman Sachs hat die Antwort: 50 Mrd. Dollar. Die Bank hat nämlich (gemeinsam mit der russischen DST Gruppe) knapp ein Prozent der Facebook-Anteile um knapp 500 Mio. Dollar erworben und will sich weitere drei Prozent um 1,5 Mrd. Dollar für einen Spezialfonds sichern, dessen Anteile an betuchte Klienten (ab zwei Mio. Dollar ist man dabei) verkauft werden sollen.

Das „Griss“ unter reichen Amerikanern und Asiaten um diese Anteile ist trotz enormer Ausgabeaufschläge und Gewinnprovisionen groß, während Aktienexperten eher zu Stirnrunzeln neigen: Facebook macht gerade einmal zwei Mrd. Dollar Umsatz und 400 Mio. Dollar Gewinn (wobei diese Zahlen nicht geprüft sind, weil das derzeit nicht börsenotierte Unternehmen sie nicht veröffentlichen muss). Eine Bewertung mit 50 Mrd. Dollar entspräche also einem Kurs-Gewinn-Verhältnis von 125. Anders gesagt: In der aktuellen Facebook-Bewertung steckt der Gewinn der nächsten 125 Jahre schon drin. Das sieht nicht nach seriösem Geschäft aus.


Hoffen auf extreme Gewinne

Wer zu solchen Kursen kauft, hofft auf eine extreme Gewinnsteigerung: Erst wenn sich der Facebook-Gewinn annähernd verzehnfacht, entspräche die Bewertung der anderer börsenotierter „US-Techs“ wie etwa Apple, Google oder Microsoft, deren Kurs-Gewinn-Verhältnisse zur Zeit zwischen (gesunden) zehn und 20 liegen.

Oder er hat anderes im Sinn: Für Goldman Sachs und seine Klienten könnte sich der Einstieg zu einer derart hohen Bewertung ja durchaus auszahlen. Dann nämlich, wenn es gelingt, den Kurs noch ordentlich „hochzuhypen“.

Das Spiel kennt man aus den wilden Neunzigern des vorigen Jahrhunderts, als die Internet-Spekulationsblase aufgeblasen wurde: Mit völlig unrealistischen Zukunftshoffnungen und abstrusen Theorien („die wirtschaftlichen Schwerkraftgesetze gelten nicht mehr, entscheidend ist nicht der Gewinn, sondern die Marktbeherrschung“) wurde schon im Vorfeld von Börsengängen Hysterie ausgelöst. Die „Cash burning rate“ wurde zur wichtigen Kennzahl. Über Kurs-Gewinn-Verhältnisse von 300 und mehr wunderte sich an den Tech-Börsen niemand mehr.


Kühlen Kopf bewahren

Als die Blase platzte, waren die Profis mit fetten Gewinnen schon „draußen“. Und die Kleinen, die zu spät in das Schneeballsystem eingestiegen waren, lecken heute noch ihre tiefen Wunden, die ihnen Kursverluste um 80 Prozent und mehr beim Platzen der Blase geschlagen hatten.

Leicht möglich, dass das Spiel jetzt wiederholt werden könnte. Der deutsche Vermögensverwalter und Finanzexperte Max Otte sagte kürzlich in einem Interview, Goldman Sachs gehöre zu den „begnadetsten Schneeballwerfern der Welt“ und sei dann immer unter den ersten, die unrealistische Bewertungen „auffliegen lassen“, nachdem sie vorher ihren Schnitt gemacht haben.

Tatsächlich hat die US-Bank nicht das beste Image, seit sie beispielsweise ihren Kunden Immobilienpapiere verkaufte – und dann selbst (erfolgreich) auf Kursrückgänge dieser Papiere spekulierte.

Leicht möglich, dass bei Facebook – das sich wegen seiner medialen Präsenz dafür besonders gut eignet – gerade eine neue Blase aufgepumpt wird und in deren Windschatten noch ein paar weitere Einzelblasen entstehen. Denn an unregulierten außerbörslichen Handelsplattformen (etwa sharespost.com) werden derzeit schon einige nicht börsenotierte Techs zu recht abenteuerlichen Bewertungen gehandelt. Facebook war an diesen Märkten vor dem Goldman-Einstieg übrigens auf 42 Mrd. Dollar taxiert worden.

Bis zum Facebook-Börsengang wird das PR-Stakkato gewaltige Ausmaße erreichen. Nicht privilegierte Privatanleger sollten da kühlen Kopf bewahren und einige Vorsichtsgrundsätze (siehe Tipps am Kopf dieser Seite) beachten. Denn bis sie zum Zug kommen, wird das ganz große Geschäft mit dem Börsengang des Jahres wohl schon gelaufen sein.

Die schwarzen Zahlen könnten sehr schnell kommen, da mit Mobile Gaming einiges zu verdienen ist momentan. Außerdem sind die Verluste, die sie momentan noch verbuchen ja nicht soo hoch und können schnell ausgeglichen werden.
Werd mir bei Gelegenheit mal ne Position sichern.

Darf man nur nicht allzulange machen...
Sonst verliert man die Freude und das Verhältnis an/zu seinen anderen Werten in den Depots...🙂

Am besten ist...bei Ihub...stöbern und die Threads durchgehen...Für ein paar Dollar im Monat gibt es die Real Kurse.....
Es finden sich immer irgendwelche Indikatoren für den nächsten Ausbruch...
Die Amis sind da viel freier mit sogenannten Empfehlungen...hier bei uns ist es schon fast eine
Straftat...wenn man Werte empfiehlt...
Zusätzlich muss man hier, am besten 10 Mal dazuschreiben, dass es keine Kaufempfehlung ist.....
So ein Quark....kann/soll doch ohnehin jeder selbst entscheiden.

Aber wie gesagt, bei Ihub.... Die Boards und Threads/Foren durchgehen....

Ja aber wie gesagt, das Teil will immer wieder nach oben. Nach unten sind meiner Meinung nach nur Panikverkäufe. Entspannt bleiben. Ich habe letzte Woche schon gemerkt, dass hier ordentlich Druck hinter ist bei unter 60 Cent, habe mich aber leider nicht getraut.

Und im Gegenteil....man sollte (allgemein) mehr "Tipps" in den Threads
austauschen...
Jeder ist alt genug, um dann zu entscheiden, ob er investiert oder nicht!

Im Gegensatz zu uns in Germany....gehen die Amis viel freier/offener

Das stimmt, dafür sind die Amis aber auch etwas leichtgläubiger, emotionaler und meistens hoffen und beten sie auf Anstiege, ohne groß Charttechnik zu betreiben 😊

Korrekt!🙂
Allerdings kommt man mittlerweile mit der Charttechnik nicht mehr "weit"...

Dafür sind die Einflüsse von außen viel zu groß geworden...
Da werden einfach negative/positive Nachrichten gestreut und die Charttechnik kann man dann in die Tonne klopfen...

Die Werte steigen und Fallen....wie sie möchten oder besser ausgedrückt...
so wie die "großen" das steuern.....

Fundamental ist nichts mehr zu begründen....
