New Geely EC7 headed to SA

The new Geely EC7 is due for launch in South Africa early in 2013.
The Geely EC7 will be available as a five-door hatch and four-door sedan. The sedan will be launched in the first quarter of 2013, while the hatch version will make its local debut in the third quarter of 2013.
The subcompact passenger vehicle recently took the top spot as the best-selling subcompact in China after record sales in the first half of 2012.
"Competition in South Africa is extremely competitive as well, with a host of Chinese and other budget brands fighting for their slice of the South African cake," says Henri Meistre of Geely South Africa.
"The entry-level segment of the market is rife with imported newcomers with a host of so-called budget models from different manufacturers, and the product offerings from China are some of the most competitive. Our Geely range of passenger cars have recently come out tops in three out of four JD Power Customer Satisfaction Index divisions in its home country," Meistre added.
Apart from these developments, Geely SA earlier this month opened its own Research and Development Centre at its head office in Midrand, Gauteng, to assist the Chinese automaker with changes needed for local conditions before the launch of new models for the 2013 South African market.

Auch auf Kuba versucht Geely weiter Fuss zu fassen...hatte Geely nicht im letzten Jahr 200 EC8/EC7 nach Kuba für das Militär und Tourismusbehörde geliefert???

In particular, the model's September export volume reached 5,623 units.
According to statistics released, the accumulative sales of the EC7 had reached around 100,000 units by September this year, accounting for over 31 percent of Geely's total sales. In this sense, the model has become a classic sedan of the homegrown auto brand moving into mid-/high-end market. As a model designed during Geely's transformation period, it is targeted at international markets from the start and Geely has paid high prices to make it a competitive model.
Besides its fashionable and simple styling, the EC7 incorporates world-class equipment and technologies from international suppliers, such as Holland's PDE Automotive BV and German-based Dürr. Another feature that makes the EC7 a strong competitor of joint venture models is its excellent safety performance. It earned the first 4-star rating in a crash test carried out by E-NCAP in 2011, marking a milestone for China's homegrown automakers.
The total sales of Geely cars for the first three quarters of 2012 reached 323,938 units, representing an increase of 11 percent over year-ago. In September only, the company's export volume exceeded 11,600 units, among which that of the Emgrand EC7 accounted for 50 percent."

@goge: Zuviel der Ehre....natürlich habe ich zum einen ein vitales Interesse über das Geschehen von Geely zu "recherchieren", da ich ja investiert bin...zum anderen finde ich die Geely-Geschichte aber auch total spannend und aufregend und freue mich über jede neue Nachricht (wobei ich die guten Nachrichten lieber lese ) ....
Der EC7 wird im 1. Q 2013 auch in Süd Afrika hoffentlich seinen Siegeszug starten...warum der stylische und für junge Leute attraktive EC7-RV erst im 3. Q in SA startet, verstehe ich allerdings nicht...

Geely SA also this month opened its own research and development centre at its head office in Midrand, Gauteng, to assist the Chinese automaker in adapting new models for local conditions.

jupp, wäre vielleicht ne Chance für Geely...ich stelle mir allerdings auch die Frage, inwiefern die ganze Angelegenheit GEGEN Geely von bestimmten Interessensgruppen genutzt werden kann....
MBH ist ein TRADITIONSUNTERNEHMEN in UK...Gewerkschaften und Politik scheinen gleichermaßen Interesse an einem Erhalt von MBH zu haben....geht MBH den Bach runter könnte es auch heißen....Geely hat in der grössten Not dem Unternehmen nicht beigestanden, zudem sind sie direkt/indirekt involviert in die Problematik der Lenkung von den London-Cabs...das könnte dem geplanten Markteintritt von Geely Ende 2012 in UK evtl. Probleme bereiten und der Konkurrenz Monition GEGEN Geely liefern....ist aber halt nur meine subjektive Sichtweise...
