Lignol begins sales of High Performance Lignin for industrial trials
Press Release Source: Lignol Energy Corporation On Thursday April 28, 2011, 8:30 am EDT
Major step achieved in developing off-take agreements for a commercial biorefinery
VANCOUVER, April 28 /CNW/ - Lignol Energy Corporation (TSXV:LEC.V), a leading technology company in the advanced biofuels and renewable chemicals sector, has recently begun to sell tonnage quantities of its proprietary High Performance Lignin (HP-LTM) to its development partners for industrial production trials.
"Lignol has a unique capacity to manufacture and supply High Performance Lignin in sufficient quantities for industrial trials," said Ross MacLachlan, President and CEO. "With the manufacturing capabilities of our pilot-scale biorefinery and our existing inventory of High Performance Lignin, we are well positioned to supply industrial partners with the volumes necessary to develop major commercial markets."
"These capabilities, coupled with our innovative applications development expertise, position Lignol as a preferred partner with companies looking to enhance their business by incorporating renewable chemicals in their product lines," added MacLachlan.
Industrial trials are an important step in the process of obtaining commercial validation and customer acceptance of products incorporating High Performance Lignins. The process involves months of laboratory-scale product applications testing by Lignol and its development partners culminating with industrial production trials.
"These industrial trials are a significant step forward for Lignol in the development of off-take agreements for a commercial biorefinery that produces both cellulosic ethanol and High Performance Lignin," concluded MacLachlan.

Lignol Energy Corporation is a developer of biorefineries for the
production of fuel-grade ethanol and biochemical products from
non-food based biomass feedstocks. The Company's proprietary
process converts cellulose to ethanol using fewer enzymes than
conventional processes, minimal amounts of water and arable land
and readily available, low cost feedstock. In addition to ethanol, the
Lignol Extraction Process produces high purity biochemicals like
high purity lignin, which can be sold, improving plant economics.
...
reason to watch
In the face of higher oil prices, the scaling back of venture
capital's investment in ethanol start-ups will make government
initiatives more important for biofuels. US subsidy programs and
fuel efficiency laws should spur mid-term demand for biofuels while
programs in both Canada and the US will help Lignol finance the
commercialization of its process. LEC serves as a Canadian pureplay
on government's desire to roll out alternative fuels.
- While we believe that alternative fuels will play second fiddle to
the electrification of transportation, cellulosic ethanol will likely
steal marketshare from traditional corn-based ethanol.

Hi,
The Canadian Renewable Fuels Association (CRFA) has announced a new roadmap from the International Energy Agency (IEA) that reestablishes the critical role of biofuels in the future of global energy supplies.
According to the roadmap, entitled ‘Technology roadmap: biofuels for transport’, biofuels can account for over 25% of transportation fuels by 2050 and ‘can play an important role in reducing CO2 emissions in the transport sector, and enhancing energy security.’
The IEA goes on to state that ‘global biofuel consumption can increase in a sustainable way - one in which production of biofuels brings significant life cycle environmental benefits and does not compromise food security - from 55 million t of oil equivalent today to 750 million in 2050; this would mean that the global share of biofuel in total transport fuel would grow from 2% today to 27% in 2050.’

Hi,

Im Saale-Orla-Kreis will man verstärkt Energiekosten sparen.

Hi,
heute in der FAZ:
"Versorger RWE produziert Holz-Pellets in Georgia - Unterzeile - Der Bedarf an Biomasse wächst rasant in Europa"
Gesamtinvestition rund 120 Millionen Euro

Hi,
es geht was.

Lignol Reports Fiscal 2013 First Quarter Financial Results
.........The Company's wholly owned subsidiary, Lignol Innovations Ltd. ("LIL") is presently one of only a handful of companies with an operational, integrated pilot-scale biorefinery capable of producing a clean, reactive cellulose for both cellulosic ethanol and a range of high value cellulose applications such as dissolving pulp. LIL has completed an engineering design package for a commercial-scale biorefinery that would produce up to 80 million litres of cellulosic ethanol (approximately 20 million U.S. Gallons) and 55,000 tonnes of High Performance Lignin (HP-L™ lignin) derivatives annually.
During Q1 FY13, LIL continued to operate its pilot plant and research facilities to accelerate a major body of work related to enzyme optimization with Novozymes, and to produce a range of pre-hydrolysates from a number of different feedstocks to enhance hemicellulosic sugars recovery. These process optimization activities have the potential to increase the amount of ethanol produced and improve plant economics. This is a key part of the extended work plan which is supported by Sustainable Development Technology Canada ("SDTC"). It was recently announced on September 6, 2012 , that this major body of work had been successfully completed with Novozymes, showing performance improvements of up to 35%, as compared to previously best.........

Lignol to supply HP-L to unnamed thermoplastics firm
2013-01-31 07:12 ET - News Release
Mr. Ross MacLachlan reports
LIGNOL ENERGY CORPORATION ANNOUNCES FIRST COMMERCIAL SUPPLY AGREEMENT FOR HP-L LIGNIN IN THE THERMOPLASTICS SECTOR
Lignol Energy Corp.'s wholly owned subsidiary, Lignol Innovations Ltd., has secured a commercial supply agreement with a market leader in the sustainable thermoplastics industry.
The agreement provides for the supply of LIL's proprietary HP-LTM lignin to a European company, a global leader in sustainable thermoplastics, as an ingredient in its commercial products. Previously Lignol had delivered trial samples which were used for formulation development, customer evaluation and product trials. LIL will supply tonnage quantities of HP-L lignin for this supply agreement and anticipates working with this customer on other product applications, building upon this initial business success.
"Our ability to attract commercial business for HP-L lignin with a global leader in the sustainable thermoplastics sector is a major step towards commercial deployment of our technology", said President and Chief Executive Officer, Ross MacLachlan. "This order in the thermoplastics field complements our own development efforts with the use of HP-L lignin in proprietary polymer applications."
LIL is engaged in a wide range of application development projects with the products derived from its biorefinery technology at values that are expected to provide attractive returns for commercial projects. Most companies in the cellulosic biorefining sector realize only the thermal value for lignin in the range of 5 cents per pound since they burn the lignin fraction (about 25% of the biomass) to provide energy for their process. Conversely, LIL's proprietary HP-L lignin can be sold for significantly higher values when incorporated into many core products of the chemical industry, such as coatings, resins, binders and thermoplastics.

Generation produzieren.
