SELECTCORE ANNOUNCES ONLINE BILL PAYMENT SERVICE
Selectcore Ltd. has a new on-line bill-payment service.
This new service is designed to allow consumers to pay their bills quickly and easily with their prepaid stored-value card account.
The landscape of on-line bill payment has changed significantly over the last decade, with more and more consumers embracing the technology. In 2013 alone, 30.3 billion on-line bill payments will be made globally.
Selectcore is now opening up a new market for on-line bill payments, bringing this valuable financial tool to underbanked consumers who do not have access to traditional banking.
Underbanked consumers typically have to wait in long lines at cheque-cashing centres to purchase money orders and then mail in their payments. Paying on-line and on time saves consumers time and money, including travel, postage and late fees.
Cardholders, including government beneficiaries, will be able to safely and conveniently pay their bills any time of day from anywhere on-line. The service supports on-line payments to thousands of payees, including utility companies, cable providers, telecom carriers, landlords and more. The platform also keeps a record of all payments processed, so cardholders can track and have more control over their spending.
On-line bill payment is the latest in Selectcore's lineup of innovative prepaid banking tools that include e-mail and text-message balance alerts, mobile applications, card-to-card money share, Interac on-line top-up, and more. As Selectcore continues to broaden its product development initiatives, this service will encompass mobile banking and peer-to-peer payments.
"Millions of underbanked consumers are not afforded the same financial tools that the majority of the population enjoys," said Keith McKenzie, chief executive officer of Selectcore. "We are dedicated to delivering new, innovative solutions that provide financial empowerment to an important demographic market."
We seek Safe Harbor.

ROTARY
Service club hears about successes of city business 6
By Bob Boughner, Chatham Daily News

Expansion is in the future plans for Chatham-based SelectCore because of its highly successful city service benefits card in Toronto.
More than 5,000 Ontario Works clients in Toronto are now receiving their social assistance by way of the first of its kind prepaid card program launched last July.
Derek Robertson, SelectCore's executive vice-president of compliance, told Chatham Rotarians Wednesday the Toronto program will eventually have 35,000 clients.
Robertson said talks are also taking place with federal and provincial officials over expanding the prepaid card program into other areas.
He said program benefits include immediate access to funds, elimination of expensive cheque-cashing fees, no bank account required and no stigma associated with the "welfare cheque''.
Robertson said the government benefits by reducing administration costs, having a streamlined business process, enhanced audit controls, reduced fraud and better utilization of human resources.
Robertson, who is also a municipal councillor, said SelectCore has been a pioneer in the prepaid card business since 1999.
The company has offices in Chatham and Toronto and is ranked as one of Canada's fastest-growing companies four times in the past six years.
Robertson said SelectCore serves some of Canada's largest corporations and was first to launch a prepaid card government disbursement program in Canada.
