      einige Aussage sind ziemlich erschreckend
"The investigation looked at individuals from nearly 200 countries and revealed an increase in the number of obese people from 105mln in 1975 to 641mln in 2014, adding that quick action is needed to avoid "an epidemic of severe obesity".

      Issues Monitor report, 2016,
      WEC,
      E. Summary/f.r.,
      4/143p
      - The 2016 WORLD ENERGY ISSUES MONITOR A climate of innovation – responding to the commodity price storm, samples the views of CEOs, Ministers and experts from across the globe to highlight the critical uncertainties facing the sector. The aim of this report is to ensure that energy leaders across the world better understand the reality of their operating environment so that they can make more informed decisions towards a sustainable energy future.

This year’s report finds that energy leaders are most concerned about commodity prices, the ongoing effects of economic slowdown and continued climate framework uncertainty, while issues of new market design and electric storage are rapidly gaining prominence. Meanwhile, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), unconventionals and nuclear are suffering from the current context.

The report also finds that the ability to finance the transition to a sustainable energy system keeps energy leaders busy at work. There is a growing acknowledgement that adaptation to new resilience challenges – cyber threats, extreme weather risks and the energy-water nexus will require attention and funding, while smart innovation and regional interconnection are also being recognised as being key parts of the solution.

Now in its seventh year, the 2016 World Energy Issues Monitor represents the insights of over 1,200 energy leaders in 90 countries and provides over 30 individual national monitors across six regions to highlight differing regional and national priorities. It brings together the viewpoint of both industry and policy leaders along with experts from the World Energy Council’s community. ...-

      - In southern Louisiana, the Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw tribe and the United Houma Nation have watched their home on Isle de Jean Charles disappear. Rapidly sinking land and extreme erosion caused by fossil fuel development and other activities in the area, exacerbated by sea level rise, leave the tribes with no other option but to resettle. -

      - As sea level rises higher over the next 15 to 30 years, tidal flooding is expected to occur more often, cause more disruption, and even render some areas unusable — all within the time frame of a typical home mortgage.

      - Today scores of coastal communities are seeing more frequent flooding during high tides. As sea level rises higher over the next 15 to 30 years, tidal flooding is expected to occur more often, cause more disruption, and ultimately render some areas unusable — all within the time frame of a typical home mortage.

A Union of Concerned Scientists analysis of 52 tide gauges in communities stretching from Portland, Maine to Freeport, Texas shows that most of these communities will experience a dramatic increase in the number and severity of tidal flooding events over the coming decades, with significant implications for property, infrastructure, and the people who call these areas home.

Small Business Vouchers pilot’s round two selections to be announced,
      Webinar,
      NREL/DoE, EERE
      - David Friedman, acting assistant secretary for the Energy Department's (DOE) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Office, and Zack Baize, deputy director of the Lab Impact Initiative, will share the 43 businesses selected to participate in round two of EERE's Small Business Vouchers (SBV) pilot. A call with reporters, editors, and producers will take place on Thursday, August 18, from 1:15 to 1:45 p.m. (EDT).

EERE officials will unveil details about the latest round of selections for the SBV pilot, a Technology-to-Market Lab Impact program that helps small businesses leverage the world-class capabilities of 11 DOE national laboratories (including NREL) and bring their next-generation clean energy technologies to market faster. The businesses selected will receive more than $8 million in vouchers through this collaborative effort between EERE and the national laboratories.

By increasing small businesses' access to and awareness of the DOE national laboratory network, SBV creates partnerships that quicken the commercialization of clean energy technologies in nine different technical areas: wind, water, solar, bioenergy, electric vehicles, buildings, fuel cells, geothermal, and advanced manufacturing. ..................................-

Wer "Resourcen Magazine", "breitgefächerte, kompakte Informatiosquellen" für den Sektor sucht, sollte sich Das mal ansehen.
      Ob Ihm Das Was zusagt.

Du stellst ja manchmal Deine Graphiken Ein, wo dann (u.A.) (historisch, Zeitlinie)zu sehen ist:
      Crisis, Crisis, Crisis
      Börsenindices: up, up, up :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Global Trends in Renewable Energy Investment 2017, published on April 6th by UN Environment, the Frankfurt School-UNEP Collaborating Centre, and Bloomberg New Energy Finance, finds that all investments in renewables totalled $241.6 billion (excluding large hydro). These investments added 138.5 gigawatts to global power capacity in 2016, up 9 percent from the 127.5 gigawatts added the year before.

Investment in renewables capacity was roughly double that in fossil fuel generation; the corresponding new capacity from renewables was equivalent to 55 percent of all new power, the highest to date. The proportion of electricity coming from renewables excluding large hydro rose from 10.3 per cent to 11.3 per cent. This prevented the emission of an estimated 1.7 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide.

The total investment was $241.6 billion (excluding large hydro), the lowest since 2013. This was in large part a result of falling costs: the average dollar capital expenditure per megawatt for solar photovoltaics and wind dropped by over 10 per cent. The year also saw record-setting acquisition activity in the clean power sector, which rose 17 percent to $110.3 billion................ -

      The, Growing, Role of Minerals, and Metals, for a LOW-Carbon Future report;
      WorldBank/EGPS,
      112 Ps:

      - A NEW report released today by the World Bank highlights the potential impacts that the expected continuing boom in low-carbon energy technologies will have on demand for many minerals and metals.

Using wind, solar, and energy storage batteries as key examples of low-carbon or “green” energy technologies, the report, “The Growing Role of Minerals and Metals for a Low-Carbon Future” examines the types of minerals and metals that will likely increase in demand as the world works towards commitments to keep the global average temperature rise at or below 2°C.

ACCOOOOORDING to the report, minerals and metals expected to see heightened demand include: aluminum, copper, lead, lithium, manganese, nickel, silver, steel, and zinc and rare earth minerals such as indium, molybdenum, and neodymium. The most significant example is electric storage batteries, where the rise in relevant metals: aluminum, cobalt, iron, lead, lithium, manganese, and nickel—grow in demand from a relatively modest level under 4°C to more than 1000 percent under 2°C.

The report shows that a shift to a low-carbon future could result in opportunities for mineral-rich countries but aaaaalso points to the need for these countries to ensure they have long-term strategies in place that enable them to make smart investment decisions. In readiness for growth in demand, countries will need to have appropriate policy mechanisms in place to safeguard local communities and the environment.

“With BETTER planning, resource-rich countries can take advantage of the increased demand to foster growth and development,” said Riccardo Puliti, Senior Director and Head of the Energy and Extractive Industries Global Practice at the World Bank. “Countries with capacity and infrastructure to supply the minerals and metals required for cleaner technologies have a unique opportunity to grow their economies if they develop their mining sectors in a sustainable way.”

The future demand for specific metals is not only a function of the degree to which countries commit to a low-carbon future, it is also driven by intra-technology choices. The low-carbon technologies that emerge as most applicable and beneficial, will play an important role in defining the commodity marketplace of the next 50 years. For example, the three leading forms of alternative vehicles — electric, hybrid, and hydrogen — each have different implications for metal demand: electric vehicles require lithium; hybrid vehicles use lead; and hydrogen-powered vehicles use platinum.

Demand for individual metals and minerals will reflect the component mix of low-carbon technologies, corresponding with economic changes and technical developments. To position themselves well, countries will need reliable sources of economic data and market intelligence, as well as the capacity to turn that information into plans, investments, and sustainable operations.

Based on current trends, it is expected that Chile, Peru, and (potentially) Bolivia, will play a key role in supplying copper and lithium; Brazil is a key bauxite and iron ore supplier; while southern Africa and Guinea will be vital in the effort to meet growing demand for platinum, manganese, bauxite, and chromium. China will continue to play a leading role in production and reserve levels in practically every key metal required under low-carbon scenarios. India is dominant in iron, steel, and titanium, while Indonesia, Malaysia, and Philippines have opportunities with bauxite and nickel.

A “green” technology future has the potential to be materially intensive, the report states. Increased extraction and production activities could also have significant impacts on local water systems, ecosystems, and communities. As countries develop their natural resource endowments, it will be critical that sustainability, environmental protection, and options to recycle materials be integrated into new operations, policies and investments.

“The Growing Role of Minerals and Metals for a Low-Carbon Future” report is intended to contribute to a richer dialogue around the opportunities and challenges for resource-rich countries that a low-carbon future presents. The analysis is designed to support policy-makers and other stakeholders in the areas of extractives, clean energy and climate change to better understand the issues involved and identify areas of common interest..............-

"We’re at a pivotal moment in the transition to electric vehicles. Following the lead of Tesla, major automakers like VW and Nissan have committed to electrifying a significant share of their fleets. Countries like China, France, the U.K., India, and Norway, and cities like Paris, London and Madrid, are planning to ban vehicles with conventional engines. And investors are poised to seize the opportunities embedded in the transition.

But the U.S. is in danger of letting these opportunities pass. President Trump is seeking to weaken clean vehicle standards, and California’s Zero Emission Vehicle program (adopted by ten states) is under attack. And now a key provision in the House Republican tax reform bill would eliminate an important electric vehicle tax credit. And in order to drive consumer uptake of electric vehicles, U.S. electric utilities need to develop adequate charging infrastructure.

Utilities may wonder: Will the investment be worth it???????????????????????????????????

Well, Ceres and M.J. Bradley & Associates have crunched the numbers in our newly released report, Accelerating Investment in Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure. The answer is a resounding YES.

In fact, we found in our analysis of 12 of the largest utility service territories in seven states that the benefits of increased investment in electric vehicle charging infrastructure would outweigh the costs by a margin of more than three to one. These benefits would be shared by electric vehicle owners, electric utility customers, and by society at large.

Our analysis explores how specific policies and programs can accelerate the transition to electric vehicles, including vehicle purchase incentives, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and utility electric vehicle programs.

I hope you’ll take a moment to take a closer look at the research and watch this video to learn how you capture the opportunities embedded in the transition to electric vehicles.

      Thank YOU"

      Global Nutrition Report(2017),
      DI/WHO/WFP/FAO/UNICEF/B&MGF/Heartfile Pakistan, and may more,
      115 pages

      - The Global Nutrition Report 2017, launched today at the Global Nutrition Summit in Milan, Italy, highlights the need for an urgent and integrated response to global nutrition if we are to meet the Sustainable Development Goals of Agenda 2030.

With almost every country in the world facing a serious nutrition-related challenge, whether from undernutrition or obesity, the report authors call for a critical change in the global response to malnutrition in all its forms and action throughout the goals to tackle the many causes of malnutrition.

The report finds that 88% of the 140 countries studied face a serious burden of either two or all of the three forms of malnutrition used as indicators for broader trends: childhood stunting, anaemia in women of reproductive age, and overweight adult women.

Rates of undernutrition in children are decreasing, but not quickly enough to meet internationally agreed nutrition goals Almost one in three women of reproductive age worldwide is affected by anaemia, and rates continue to rise Overweight and obesity are on the rise in almost every country. Based on current trends, there is less than a 1 per cent chance of meeting the global target of halting the rise in obesity and diabetes by 2025. Key findings highlight the impact that this burden is having on broader global development efforts, and the report calls for nutrition to be placed at the heart of efforts to end poverty, fight disease, raise educational standards and tackle climate change.

Although global spending by donors on nutrition-specific interventions reached US$867 million in 2015, a 2 per cent increase over 2014, it fell as a proportion of official development assistance (ODA). It is estimated that US$70 billion will be needed over the next 10 years to achieve global nutrition targets.[1] Analysis shows that governments spend more on interventions that address the underlying causes of malnutrition than they do on nutrition-specific interventions.

In addition, only 0.01% of ODA was spent on nutrition-related non-communicable diseases, despite the significant global burden they represent. So in addition to ‘turbo-charging’ investment, there is an opportunity and need to finance a more integrated approach to improving nutrition through exploring existing flows and innovative financing mechanisms.

The Global Nutrition Report 2017 also underlines the need to tackle the data gaps that are hindering accountability and progress. Better and disaggregated data on all forms of malnutrition and their financing in all countries is needed to ensure no one is left behind in Agenda 2030, and to inform evidence-based decision-making at the policy level.

Development Initiatives (DI) is the host of the Global Nutrition Report 2017 and is responsible for its design and publication. The report is an independently produced annual stock-take of the state of the world’s nutrition. It tracks global nutrition targets on maternal, infant, and young child nutrition and on diet-related non-communicable diseases adopted by member states of the World Health Organization, as well as governments’ delivery against their commitments.

Development Initiatives’ Board Member and Strategic Adviser Judith Randel sits on the Independent Expert Group, and DI also contributed data analysis on nutrition financing to the report......................................... -

      World Investment Report(2017),
      UN/UNCTAD,
      252 p's

      - In 2016, global flows of foreign direct investment fell by about 2 per cent, to $1.75 trillion. Investment in developing countries declined even more, by 14 per cent, and flows to LDCs and structurally weak economies remain volatile and low. Although UNCTAD predicts a modest recovery of FDI flows in 2017–2018, they are expected to remain well below their 2007 peak.

These developments are troublesome, especially considering the enormous investment needs associated with the Sustainable Development Goals, detailed in UNCTAD’s Action Plan for Investment in the SDGs. Progress on sustainable development – and lasting peace – requires more investment in basic infrastructure, energy, water and sanitation, climate change mitigation, health and education, as well as investment in productive capacity to generate jobs and income growth.

Now more than ever it is important to ensure that the global policy environment remains conducive to investment in sustainable development. UNCTAD plays an important role in this, by providing guidance on national and international investment policy regimes. Its Investment Policy Framework and Roadmap for Reform of International Investment Agreements have been used by more than 130 countries in formulating a new generation of investment policies.

This year’s World Investment Report builds on that track record and presents policy advice on how to deal with close to 3,000 old-generation investment treaties.

A key challenge for policymakers in today’s global economy is digital development. The theme chapter of the Report this year shows that the digital economy is having a major impact on global patterns of investment. It provides important insights on the implications of the digital economy for investment policies designed for the analogue era, and suggests how investment policy can support digital development.

I commend this Report as an important tool for the international investment and development community.
