Dear Aerospace Engineer.

Germans are well aware about the events between 1933 and 1945. There are therefore to a large fraction (>95 %) not Nazis and wouldn`t subscribe to the goals of a Nazi-Party. Some of pro-Nazi-publications, which are permited in the US are unlegal in Germany. Germany has now a history of 50 years of stable democracy, peacefulness, acceptance of participation in international organizations and adherence to human rights, some of which are not protected even in the US (e.g. prohibition of death penalty and of overly cruel penalties like boot camps, mandatory health insurance, and workers rights).

Therefore Germans are not pleased about foreigners, who just discovered now the German past and want to rub into Germans, especially when in their countries the present might not look like a human rights or patriotic modesty example.

It is not polite, to send a very, very large posting about the time of the Third Reich, which everyone here is well informed about and in addition then to expect Germans in a German board to answer you in a foreign language. Why havn`t you learnt German? It is the least of politeness to a people, to learn at least some of their language, like I did it for your people.

Think about it.

thank you for your message.

I am not from germany, but I am living in NY since February 2000.

My girlfriend is German. I have met her one and a half months ago. She is from Hamurg. Since I have met her, I try to learn German. I am of the opinion, that Germany is a very smart country with many so called "dichter und denker".

I did niot want to hurt you by starting a discussion about what happened 560 years ago.

I feel sorry that you guys have misunderstood me.

I try to learn German as fast as possible, but in one and a half months, it is impossible to speag German perfectly. But I try my best to learn this language quickly.

I like Germans and I hope to visit Hamburg in two months, when my girl-friend returns to Germany.

thank you for your informative reply.

As far as I am concerned, I am living in NY since February 2000. I am not a native American.

My girlfriend is German, and sice I have met her, I am deeply interested in Germany, in its culture and, of course, in its history, too.

I can understand why you German guys are sick of talking about the deeds of your grandfathers. I didn`t think of that, when I posted the article from Washington Times (edition April 20).

But I am surprised that WallStreet-Online has removed it. The article was just an informative article about the past. And as today is April 20, it was the right moment to post it here and to start a discussion about this theme.
