Cordoba drills 111m of 1.01% Cu, 0.38 g/t Au at Alacran

      2016-04-11 07:29 ET - News Release

      Mr. Mario Stifano reports

CORDOBA MINERALS CONFIRMS A SIGNIFICANT COPPER-GOLD DISCOVERY AT THE ALACRAN PROJECT WITH 111 METRES OF 1.01% COPPER AND 0.38 G/T GOLD

Drilling at the Alacran project within Cordoba Minerals Corp.'s San Matias copper gold project in Colombia has confirmed a high-grade and shallow copper-gold discovery. The initial six drill holes in the preliminary 3,000-metre diamond drilling program all contain significant intercepts of copper and gold mineralization, often from near surface. Drilling also has demonstrated similar visual copper-sulphide mineralization in an additional four holes. Drilling to date at Alacran covers 270 metres of strike length at the northern end of a 1,300-metre defined mineralized trend. The mineralized trend remains open in all directions and at depth.

      Alacran drilling highlights

      ASA051: 111 metres at 1.01 per cent copper and 0.38 gram per tonne gold (1.32 per cent copper equivalent (CuEq));
      ACD006A: 109 metres at 0.95 per cent copper and 0.35 g/t gold (1.24 per cent CuEq);
      ACD001: 108 metres at 0.94 per cent copper and 0.37 g/t gold (1.24 per cent CuEq);
      ACD005: 29 metres at 2.72 per cent copper and 1.16 g/t gold (3.66 per cent CuEq);
ACD002: 80 metres at 0.75 per cent copper and 0.31 g/t gold (1.0 per cent CuEq).
Mario Stifano, president and chief executive officer of Cordoba, commented: "Our drilling at Alacran has confirmed a significant high-grade copper-gold discovery within what we believe is potentially a large and prolific copper-gold district. The geological importance of the Alacran discovery confirms our belief that the San Matias copper-gold project hosts porphyry copper-gold mineralization and high-grade replacement (or skarn-hosted) copper-gold systems. In addition, preliminary results from the proprietary Typhoon deep induced polarization technology deployed by the company's joint venture partner, High Power Exploration, indicate multiple large and potentially significant sulphide chargeability targets, indicating the potential to make a world-class discovery."

Cordoba and High Power Exploration (HPX) are jointly planning the next phase of the exploration program at the San Matias project. Current plans include an expansion of the Typhoon survey and follow-on drilling at Alacran and additional high-priority targets defined by Typhon IP and detailed airborne magnetic surveys.

      Details

      Alacran copper-gold system

The Alacran copper-gold system is located within the company's San Matias copper-gold project in the department of Cordoba, Colombia. The Alacran system is located on a topographic high in gently rolling topography, optimal for potential open-pit mining. Access and infrastructure are good. Alacran is approximately two kilometres southwest of the Montiel porphyry copper-gold discovery, where recent drilling interested 101 metres of 1.0 per cent copper and 0.65 g/t gold, and two kilometres northwest of the Costa Azul porphyry copper-gold discovery, where recent drilling interested 87 metres of 0.62 per cent copper and 0.51 g/t gold. The copper-gold mineralization at Alacran is associated with strata-bound replacement of a marine volcanosedimentary sequence in the core of a faulted anti-formal fold structure. The deposit comprises moderately to steeply dipping stratigraphy that is mineralized as a series of subparallel replacement-style or skarn zones and associated disseminations. The copper-gold mineralization is composed of multiple overprinting hydrothermal events with the main ore phase comprising chalcopyrite-pyrrhotite-pyrite that appears to overprint a large-scale early magnetite metasomatic event.

High-temperature potassic feldspar-biotite-amphibole-albite alteration in the host geological sequence indicates that the copper-gold mineralization is proximal to a source intrusion. At least two intrusive phases, locally occurring as sills, confirm an intrusive source for the mineralizing fluids. The overall size and complexity of the hydrothermal system indicate a significant mineralization event. Mineralization occurs within all members of the sedimentary and volcanic sequence, where it can be traced over a strike length of greater than 1,300 metres and local thickness of more than 90 metres true width from the current drilling and surface sampling.

      Alacran exploration

In addition to the continuing diamond drilling program, extensive soil sampling and detailed geological mapping programs are under way to further define the extent of copper-gold mineralization at Alacran and to determine if additional mineralized zones exist. The hydrothermal alteration halo associated with the known mineralization is of kilometre-scale dimensions, indicating the potential for a substantial mineralized zone and the high probability of additional mineralized areas. A Typhoon IP and electromagnetic survey also has been completed over the northern parts of the Alacran project and data are currently being interpreted.

      Typhoon

Typhoon is a proprietary deep IP technology, developed by HPX, that generates high signal-to-noise ratios enabling accurate inversions to identify prospective targets. The recently completed phase one Typhoon program at San Matias, which covered Montiel and the northern area of Alacran, will be expanded north and south of the currently surveyed areas as the trends and targets remain open. The final 3-D inversion of the Typhoon geophysical survey is being completed and will be released in the coming weeks.

      About San Matias project

The newly discovered San Matias copper-gold project comprises a 20,000-hectare land package on the inferred northern extension of the richly endowed Mid Cauca belt in Colombia. The project contains several known areas of porphyry copper-gold mineralization, copper-gold skarn mineralization and vein-hosted, gold-copper mineralization. Porphyry mineralization at the San Matias project incorporates high-grade zones of copper-gold mineralization hosted by diorite porphyries containing secondary biotite alteration and various orientations of sheeted and stockwork quartz-magnetite veins with chalcopyrite and bornite. The copper-gold skarn mineralization at Alacran is associated with strata-bound replacement of a marine volcanosedimentary sequence. District-scale alteration and an abundance of mineralized showings at San Matias show similarities to other world-class Tier 1 copper-gold porphyry deposits.

Ein sehr guter Artikel zu Cordoba Minerals! Gestern erst veröffentlicht!
Cordoba Minerals and Friedland’s HPX advance San Matias
POSTED BY: TRISH SAYWELL APRIL 12, 2016

When Mario Stifano found himself alone in an elevator with mine finder Robert Friedland at the end of a long day of presentations at the BMO Conference, the stars just seemed to align.

“It was around 4:30 p.m. and usually the elevators at the conference are packed around that time but there he was—it was just him and I,” Stifano, the president and CEO of junior explorer Cordoba Minerals(TSXV: CDB), recalls of the chance encounter in February 2014.

“I introduced myself, told him I loved his speeches, and that I wanted to tell him about our project, where airborne surveys seemed to show some similarities with his Oyu Tolgoi project. I had thirty seconds to pitch him.”

Friedland agreed to meet Stifano at 7:30 p.m. that evening to learn more about the company’s San Matias project in northern Colombia, where drilling the year before at the Montiel prospect had returned high-grade copper-gold porphyry mineralization including a 101.10 metre intercept averaging 1.0% copper and 0.65 gram gold per tonne.

“I explained the project to him and why I thought it was special,” Stifano says. “He told me why it would be extremely difficult for Cordoba to advance it on its own, and relayed his experience at Oyu Tolgoi and how difficult it is to find these porphyries and how you need a lot of experience and lots of geophysics. He reminded me that it took him 134 holes, some of them really deep, to hit the discovery hole at Oyu Tolgoi.”

Nevertheless, Friedland was intrigued enough to dispatch the exploration team at his his privately held High Power Exploration (HPX), to take a look at the project.

“We didn’t need money at the time, but I was thinking ahead and thought it might make sense for him to look at the project because you don’t know what the future is going to hold,” Stifano says, noting that Cordoba had already raised $15 million in early 2014 from a syndicate consisting of the Bank of Montreal, Dundee, GMP Securities and Clarus Securities.

At the same time, he notes, Cordoba was signing a number of confidentiality agreements with large base metal companies. “We had almost every major mining company in the base metal space and some of the world’s largest mining companies come and look at our ground in the district,” Stifano says. “But from day one I always wanted to do a deal with Robert. There’s no better mine finder and explorer than Robert Friedland.”

Over the course of that year, Cordoba continued to find more copper-gold porphyry mineralization at San Matias. At its Costa Azul target, an 800 metre by 800 metre copper-gold soil anomaly about 2 km south of the Montiel target, results of rotary air blast drilling were released in August 2014. Intercepts included 31 metres of 0.25 gram gold and 0.61% copper; 30 metres of 0.22 gram gold and 0.70% copper; and 12 metres of 0.20 gram gold and 0.65% copper.

Stifano’s wish that Cordoba would ultimately do a deal with Friedland, however, came true in May 2015. Under a joint-venture agreement, HPX will spend $6 million for a 25% stake in the project and another $10.5 million for a 51% stake. They then have the right to carry it to feasibility.

Separately, Friedland also owns 37% of Cordoba, a lot of which he bought on the open market, through private placements and through the exercise of warrants, Stifano says.

“I wanted as part of the joint-venture deal that my partner earn into the property but at the same time I wanted them to be a shareholder of Cordoba because I wanted all of our interests aligned,” Stifano says. “That was one of my conditions and Robert agrees with that strategy and that we need to be aligned in all matters.”

Cordoba holds a 35% stake in the project and does not to need to spend additional funds until a feasibility study has been completed.

“We did this deal in the early part of 2015, when no juniors could get anything done,” Stifano continues. “I’ve always felt that great projects always get financed.”

HPX has a robust treasury to take the project forward, Stifano says. “It raised $100 million with Robert’s own personal money and some additional money from a high net worth individual,” he says. “They can spend money where they need to spend money. And Robert can raise money—it’s never been an issue for him.”

Another reason Stifano wanted to partner with HPX was because of its proprietary Typhoon technology, a deep induced polarization technology. “It’s almost like deep IP but it allows you to go 2 km below surface with significant detail and they are fantastic at doing inversions so you can do it in three dimensions,” he explains.

This week, Cordoba released drill results from its Alacran target at San Matias, about 2 km southwest of the Montiel porphyry copper-gold discovery and 2.5 km from Costa Azul. Highlights included 111 metres of 1.01% copper and 038 gram gold; 109 metres of 0.95% copper and 0.35 gram gold; and 108 metres of 0.94% copper and 0.36 gram gold.

Alacran covers 270 metres of strike length at the northern end of a 1,300 metre defined mineralized trend, which remains open in all directions and at depth.

Stifano notes that the Alacran discovery confirms his belief that San Matias hosts porphyry copper-gold mineralization and high-grade skarn-hosted copper-gold systems.

“People always ask me why HPX came into this little company called Cordoba and the answer is quite simple: The HPX team that visited the project saw a lot of similarities with Oyu Tolgoi,” Stifano says. “We think we’re in a porphyry cluster. There’s a lot of faulting that you would have seen at Oyu Tolgoi. What we see in a lot of our geophysics is that some of these intrusions are deep and big.”

“We’re not talking about 0.2% copper or 0.3% copper, we’re talking some pretty high-grade copper and this has potential, with a lot of work obviously, for us to find a world-class Tier 1 discovery,” he adds.

“Robert is probably the most aggressive explorations out there, period. This is what he does, this is what he loves. You can’t fault his track record: Voiseys Bay, Oyu Tolgoi, Kamoa, Platreef, all his projects are world-class. There is nobody better at finding world-class projects than Robert Friesland and his team, nobody.”

San Matias, about 200 km north of Medellin, is 20 km south of BHP Billitonn’s Cerro Matoso nickel mine and within 10 km of two open-pit coal mines operated by a Colombian conglomerate, and has access to road infrastructure and power.

Heute toller Cash-Out Day.

Dennoch DANKE! So kann es gerne weitergehen.

      Cordoba drills 108 m of 1.26% Cu, 0.87 g/t Au at Matias

      2017-01-11 07:16 ET - News Release

      Mr. Mario Stifano reports

CORDOBA MINERALS INTERSECTS 108 METRES OF 1.26% COPPER AND 0.87 G/T GOLD AT THE ALACRAN DEPOSIT

Cordoba Minerals Corp. and its joint venture partner, High Power Exploration Inc., a private mineral exploration company indirectly controlled by mining entrepreneur Robert Friedland's Ivanhoe Industries LLC, have provided an update. Drilling at the San Matias copper-gold project in Colombia has significantly expanded the volume of near-surface copper-gold mineralization at the Alacran deposit. Copper mineralization at Alacran has been intersected over a strike length of 1.3 kilometres, to widths of up to 400 metres, and extends from surface to depths of more than 260 metres below surface.

Recent Alacran drilling highlights (refer to the associated table for complete drilling results):

      ACD028:
24 metres (m) at 1.64 per cent copper (Cu) plus 0.62 gram per tonne gold (Au) (from 42 m), including:
      Six m at 1.97 per cent Cu plus 0.91 g/t Au (from 50 m);
      Four m at 3.69 per cent Cu plus 1.06 g/t Au (from 62 m).
      ACD032:
      66 m at 1.20 per cent Cu plus 0.23 g/t Au (from 46 m), including:
      14 m at 3.31 per cent Cu plus 0.26 g/t Au (from 60 m);
      Six m at 1.95 per cent Cu plus 0.72 g/t Au (from 98 m).
      ACD033:
108 m at 1.26 per cent Cu plus 0.87 g/t Au (from zero m), including:
      26 m at 1.48 per cent Cu plus 1.37 g/t Au (from 20 m);
      26 m at 3.18 per cent Cu plus 1.62 g/t Au (from 62 m).
      ACD035:
34 m at 0.75 per cent Cu plus 0.47 g/t Au (from six m), including:
      18 m at 1.20 per cent Cu plus 0.74 g/t Au (from 22 m);
      60 m at 0.40 per cent Cu plus 0.21 g/t Au (from 122 m).
Hole ACD033 (108 m at 1.26 per cent Cu plus 0.87 g/t Au) has returned one of the best intersections to date on the project with mineralization outside the current inferred mineral resource shell. The recent drilling results demonstrate the potential to significantly increase the current inferred mineral resource at Alacran of 53.5 million tonnes of 0.70 per cent copper and 0.37 g/t gold announced in a press release dated Jan. 5, 2017. The area around hole ACD033 is a priority target to follow up with additional drilling to the east, where the mineralization remains open.

Prior to the current drilling program, the mineralization at Alacran was believed to be striking in a north-south direction, with a subvertical westerly dip. This drilling campaign has shown that the mineralization dips more moderately to the west, conformable to the host stratigraphy, adding additional shallow mineralization updip to the east. Moving from north to south, the host stratigraphy appears to steepen while the mineralization changes from pyrrhotite-pyrite-chalcopyrite to magnetite-chalcopyrite. Based on magnetic and induced polarization surveys, attractive exploration targets remain down plunge and along strike.

Mario Stifano, president and chief executive officer of Cordoba, commented: "These drill results highlight the potential for Alacran to host a large high-grade, open-pittable, copper-gold deposit. Current drilling at Alacran will continue to test the eastern extensions of the deposit as well as priority exploration to identify and target the potential source for the mineralization at Alacran."

Alacran, Colombia: 108m at 1.26% Cu and 0.87% Au from surface (ACD033)

Cordoba Minerals (CN:CDB) has hit more copper-gold mineralisation at the Alacran deposit, part of its San Matias project, a week after announcing Alacran’s maiden resource of 53.52 million tonnes grading 0.70% copper and 0.37g/t gold.

Cordoba’s joint venture partner at San Matias is High Power Exploration Inc (HPX), a private mineral exploration company indirectly controlled by mining entrepreneur Robert Friedland’s Ivanhoe Industries.

Cordoba president and CEO Mario Stifano said Hole ACD033 returned one of the best intersections to date on the project, with the mineralisation outside the current resource shell.

It also included intersections of 26m at 1.48% copper and 1.37g/t gold from 20m, and 26m at 3.18% copper and 1.62g/t gold from 62m.

Stifano has told Mining Journal Friedland didn’t invest to find 5Moz or 10Moz and Stifano believed Alacran could be part of a tier one district.

HPX has earned a 51% interest in San Matias by spending C$19 (US$14.4) million on exploration and can now earn up to 65% by completing a feasibility study.

Follow-up drilling is planned to extend the known mineralisation area, which already spans 1.3km and widths of up to 400m.

      Cordoba: Copper in Colombia

      Resources Wire | Jay Currie

The biggest deposits in the world write their own rules, said Mario Stifano, President and CEO of Cordoba Minerals (V.CDB), Our Alacran Copper-Gold project is potentially a very big and very complex system.

Located in northern Colombia, Cordobas San Matias property covers 200 square kilometers with another 200,000 hectares under application. The Alacran Copper-Gold project is a 390 hectare portion of the overall property.

To figure out a large system Cordoba needed money and world beating technology. Both were supplied by multi-mine mogul, Robert Friedland who, literally, met Stifano on an elevator and has been engaged in the San Matias project ever since.

Getting a handle on such a vast area with so many mineral indications is a huge job. While the test of a discovery is the diamond drill, where to drill is critical to cost-effective success. We have a tremendous number of targets, said Stifano, Which is where the Typhoon technology from joint venture partner, High Power Exploration (HPX), is so useful. It uses terrifically powerful bursts of energy to see deep into the ground. Two kilometers down, which is leaps and bounds ahead of competitive technology. We have access to the technology and, as importantly, the people who can interpret the results through HPX which is indirectly controlled by mining entrepreneur Robert Friedlands Ivanhoe Industries. So we drill according to the information and interpretation Typhoon gives us. Exploration is looking for a needle in a haystack and what Typhoon tells us is where the haystacks are and potentially the needles.

The results to date have obviously impressed Friedland and his team. Hes spent 20 million dollars on the property in a year and a half. Under the terms of our deal he had seven years to make that investment, said Stifano. Robert Friedland is excited by the project.

For Cordoba a significant milestone was passed with the filing of a NI 43-101 in early January 2017. In the press release announcing this initial resource estimate, Stilfano is quoted as saying, We are pleased with the initial mineral resource which demonstrates the potential for the Alacran Project to host a significant tonnage of high-grade, potentially open-pittable copper-gold mineralization. This is just the beginning as our ongoing, aggressive drilling program is aimed at growing the mineral resources in size and confidence levels, extending high-grade copper- and gold-rich mineralized zones and drilling additional exploration targets with potential to add a new and significant exploration front to Alacran.

The initial NI 43-101 inferred resource is an impressive start. We already have 53.5 million tonnes at 0.70% copper and 0.37 g/t gold or 1.1 billion pounds of copper equivalent or 2.4 million ounces of gold equivalent. Most copper mines are 0.5% copper equivalent, and we have signifantly more copper plus the gold putting our grade at almost twice the average and the deposit will get bigger, added Stifano.

In our interview Stifano elaborated, The initial NI 43-101 was based on results from only the first 22 holes weve drilled. There is a lot of unclassified material within the pit shell but we have just not done enough drilling to commit this material to resources. Also the deposit remains open.

Perhaps as important is that the best hole Cordoba has drilled so far, with 108 meters of 1.26% copper and 0.87 g/t gold, is outside the pitshell. Wherever we have drilled or sampled on the property we have found mineralization. said Stifano.

Stifano is confident that Cordoba is looking at a world class district at San Matias. To be world class you need grade and you need quantity. Half a billion tons of high grade material and you hit world class. said Stifano, But that still leaves the question, wheres the heart of it?

Using Typhoon to find the targets, Cordoba is running its drills to try to find the source of the mineralization it is encountering. From the Cordoba shareholder perspective this is costless exploration as HPX is financing the exploration effort as part of their deal to acquire shares. Cordoba does not have to spend a dime, explained Stifano. And given that Friedland owns 36 percent of Cordoba, there is a precise alignment of interests.

At the moment, despite a gratifying rise in the price of Cordoba shares, Stifano is certain that the real value of the property is not yet appreciated by the market. Were identifying porphyries all over the property. To really appreciate the potential value of Cordoba you have to look at the potential of the district as a whole. The blue sky here is in the ongoing exploration of the district. We will turn that blue sky into reality with our aggressive exploration. said Stifano.

At time of writing Cordoba was trading at $0.88 per share with 86.7 million shares outstanding for a market cap of $76.29 million.

Cordoba Minerals Intersects 4,440 g/t Gold, 10.25% Copper, 24.7% Zinc and 347 g/t Silver Over 0.9 Meters in New Discovery

      V.CDB | 57 minutes ago

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jan. 23, 2017) - Cordoba Minerals Corp. (TSX VENTURE:CDB)(OTCQX:CDBMF) ("Cordoba" or the "Company") and its joint-venture partner, High Power Exploration Inc. ("HPX"), a private mineral exploration company indirectly controlled by mining entrepreneur Robert Friedland's Ivanhoe Industries, LLC, are pleased to announce that drilling at the San Matias Copper-Gold Project in Colombia has intersected bonanza gold veins at Alacran. The discovery of this new style of high grade gold mineralization represents a separate and significant exploration opportunity at Alacran.

      Alacran drilling highlights:

      ACD036:
      0.90 meters (m) @ 4,440 g/t gold (Au) + 10.25% copper (Cu) + 24.70% zinc (Zn) + 347 g/t silver (Ag)

      Part of
      5.00 m @ 800.90 g/t Au + 3.70% Cu + 8.60% Zn + 88.63 g/t Ag
      136.00 m @ 1.00% Cu + 0.56 g/t Au (cut*)

The 0.90 meter bonanza grade gold intersection in ACD036 is hosted in a late stage, chalcopyrite-sphalerite-carbonate-coarse gold vein that overprints earlier chalcopyrite-pyrrhotite copper-gold mineralization (Figure 1). The high-grade gold vein is similar to Carbonate Base Metal (CBM) vein systems found globally, including Barrick Gold's Porgera gold mine and also Continental Gold's Buritica deposit, located south of Cordoba's licenses along the Mid Cauca belt in Colombia.

The discovery of these structurally controlled high-grade gold rich veins represents an important new target to add extremely high value material within the existing inferred copper-gold mineral resource shell and resource expansion. The CBM Vein in ACD036 was intersected at a depth of approximately 90 meters below surface. Copper-gold mineralization at Alacran has now been intersected over a strike length of 1.3 kilometres, to widths of up to 400 meters, and extends from surface to depths of more than 260 meters below surface.

Mario Stifano, President and CEO of Cordoba, commented: "We are excited by the discovery of bonanza grade gold in CBM veins as this new style of mineralization adds another significant exploration front to potentially increase the size and scope of mineralization at Alacran. We are still in the very early stages of our aggressive exploration program at our district scale San Matias copper-gold project, but our best in class exploration team and HPX's proprietary Typhoon technology, reminds us that anywhere, anytime, there is potential for a significant discovery at San Matias."

Drilling at Alacran will now focus on testing the up-dip eastern extensions of the deposit, the extent of the newly discovered CBM veins including structural controls and the potential source for the mineralization at Alacran.

      Alacran Copper-Gold System

The Alacran copper-gold system is located within the San Matias Copper-Gold Project in the Department of Cordoba, Colombia. The San Matias Copper-Gold Project comprises a 20,000-hectare land package on the inferred northern extension of the richly endowed Mid-Cauca Belt in Colombia. The project contains several known areas of porphyry copper-gold mineralization, copper-gold skarn mineralization and vein-hosted, gold-copper mineralization.

The Alacran system is located on a topographic high in gently rolling topography, optimal for potential open-pit mining. Access and infrastructure are considered favourable. Initial inferred resources at Alacran are 53.5 million tonnes of 0.70% copper and 0.37 g/t gold. Alacran is approximately two kilometers southwest of the Company's Montiel porphyry copper-gold discovery, where drilling interested 101 metres of 1.0% copper and 0.65 g/t gold, and two kilometers northwest of the Costa Azul porphyry copper-gold discovery, where drilling interested 87 metres of 0.62% copper and 0.51 g/t gold (Figure 2). The copper-gold mineralization at Alacran is associated with stratabound replacement of a marine volcano-sedimentary sequence in the core of a faulted antiformal fold structure. The deposit comprises moderately to steeply-dipping stratigraphy that is mineralized as a series of sub-parallel replacement-style zones and associated disseminations. The copper-gold mineralization is composed of multiple overprinting hydrothermal events with the main ore phase comprised of chalcopyrite-pyrrhotite-pyrite that appears to overprint an early magnetite metasomatic event.

      Technical Information

The technical information has been reviewed and verified by Christian J. Grainger, PhD, a Qualified Person for the purpose of NI 43-101. Dr. Grainger is a geologist with over 15 years in the minerals mining, consulting, exploration and research industries. Dr. Grainger is a Member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists (AIG).

Copper-equivalent values have been calculated using a US$1,300 per ounce gold price and US$2.50 per pound copper price.

Cordoba utilizes a comprehensive industry-standard QAQC program. HQ and NQ diamond drill core is sawn in two halves, and one half is sampled and shipped to a sample preparation laboratory. The other half of the core is stored in a secure facility for future assay verification. All samples are prepared at ALS Minerals Laboratory in Medellin, Colombia, and assayed at ALS Minerals Laboratory in Lima, Peru. ALS Minerals operates in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025.

Gold is determined by 50 g fire assay with an AAS finish. An initial multi-element suite comprising copper, molybdenum, silver and additional elements is analyzed by four-acid digest with an ICP-ES or ICP-MS finish. All samples with copper values over 2000 ppm are re-assayed by a method for higher grades, which also uses a four-acid digest with an ICP-ES finish.

Selected samples of elevated gold grades are submitted to ALS Lima for metallic screen analysis to accurately represent grades given the presence of coarse gold.

Weitere Bohrergebnissen folgen!

      Auch ein schöner Satz:

The high-grade gold vein is similar to Carbonate Base Metal (CBM) vein systems found globally, including Barrick Gold's Porgera gold mine and also Continental Gold's Buritica deposit, located south of Cordoba's licenses along the Mid Cauca belt in Colombia.

      Cordoba’s No.1 drill hit - 5m @800.9g/t Au, 88.63g/t Ag,

      http://www.mining-journal.com/financeinvestment/exploration/…

      Cordoba’s No.1 drill hit

Cordoba Minerals’ (TSXV: CDB) impressive gold-silver-copper-zinc hit from the San Matias property in Colombia topped the best drill intercepts from around the globe last week.

Data compiled by RSC Mining & Mineral Exploration had Cordoba ahead of Wesdome Gold Mines and – not for the first time this year – Arizona Mining got high marks with another strong hit at Hermosa in Arizona, USA.

      Cordoba’s 5m at 800.9gpt gold, 88.63gpt silver, 3.65% copper, and 8.6% zinc, from a hole depth of 112m, gave it a gold-equivalent value of 4,069g m/t (*see explanation below). :eek::eek:

Cordoba and joint-venture partner High Power Exploration said the bonanza gold veins intersected at San Matias represented discovery of a new style of mineralisation at the Alacran project and “a separate and significant exploration opportunity”.

The intersection in hole ACD036 showed mineralisation hosted in a late stage, chalcopyrite-sphalerite-carbonate-coarse gold vein overprinting earlier chalcopyrite-pyrrhotite copper-gold mineralisation.

The high-grade gold vein is similar to carbonate base metal (CBM) vein systems found globally, including [at] Barrick Gold’s Porgera gold mine and also Continental Gold’s Buritica deposit, located south of Cordoba’s licences along the Mid Cauca belt in Colombia,” Cordoba said.

The discovery of these structurally controlled high-grade gold rich veins represents an important new target to add extremely high value material within the existing inferred copper-gold mineral resource shell and resource expansion.

The CBM Vein in ACD036 was intersected at a depth of approximately 90m below surface.

Copper-gold mineralization at Alacran has now been intersected over a strike length of 1.3km, to widths of up to 400m, and extends from surface to depths of more than 260m below surface.”

Cordoba Minerals commences expanded drilling program at the San Matias Copper-Gold Project in Colombia

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Feb. 1, 2017) - Cordoba Minerals Corp. (TSX VENTURE:CDB)(OTCQX:CDBMF) ("Cordoba" or the "Company") and its joint-venture partner, High Power Exploration Inc. ("HPX"), a private mineral exploration company indirectly controlled by mining entrepreneur Robert Friedland's Ivanhoe Industries, LLC, are pleased to announce that Major Drilling International Inc. ("Major Drilling") has been engaged to expand Cordoba's exploration program providing a more powerful drill rig that will allow for the drill testing of deeper targets at the San Matias Copper-Gold Project in Colombia.

The first two Major Drilling rigs are being mobilized to site and drilling is expected to begin next week. Additional rigs are expected to be mobilized to site in the near future.

Following Cordoba's news release on January 23, 2017, announcing the discovery of bonanza-grade gold veins at Alacran where hole ACD036 intersected 0.9 metres of 4,440 g/t gold, 10.25% copper, 24.7% zinc and 347 g/t silver, drilling at Alacran will be focused on testing the extent of the newly discovered, bonanza-grade, structurally controlled, Carbonate Base Metal (CBM) veins, and the up-dip eastern extensions of the Alacran deposit where hole ACD033 intersected 108 metres of 1.26% copper and 0.87 g/t gold and the down dip extensions on the western side.

Mario Stifano, President and CEO of Cordoba, commented: "We look forward to restarting our aggressive drilling program at our highly prospective San Matias Copper-Gold Project, which will focus on expanding the size and scope of mineralization at Alacran, as well as testing other high priority targets at San Matias that have previously yielded large widths of high-grade copper-gold mineralization."

Cordoba Minerals (CDB.v) and those warrants

We know Cordoba Minerals (CDB.v) needs to raise a bit of working capital. We know it has a real tiger by the tail now at San Matias. We also know this (from the company Financials):

15m warrants lapse in less than a week's time at $1.50. At the bell today CDB opened at $1.49. Interesting dynamics, no?

      Cordoba - San Matias
Disclosure: I also hold shares in Cordoba, I feel that Alacran is a good exploration stage project. Cordoba have found a decent, at the moment small (~50Mt), well mineralized deposit. I am hoping that this will be the first of many similar deposits found around their property.

We see the share price surge after Cordoba released assay data from a spectacular drill-hole at San Matias (link).

Interview mit CEO Mario Stifano - 15.02.2017
      http://resourcestockdigest.com/archives/interview_hold/index…

Gerardo Del Real: This is Gerardo Del Reall with Resource Stock Digest. Joining me this afternoon is Cordoba Minerals (TSX-V: CDB)(OTC: CDBMF) President and CEO, Mario Stifano. Mario, thank you so much for joining me this afternoon.

Mario Stifano: Thank you Gerardo. Thank you for having me.

Gerardo Del Real: I wanted to have you on, and first off, I want to congratulate you because Cordoba was recently named to the 2017 Over the Counter Best 50, so congrats on that.

Mario Stifano: Thank you. Look, it's a huge testament to how much Cordoba has advanced in 2016. We started the year with an C$8 million market cap, and an C$8 million project value. We're now sitting at a project value of C$250 million, and Cordoba's market cap is over C$120 million because we have a 50-50 JV with Robert Friedland's private company, High Power Exploration. It really demonstrates how much this project has captured the market's attention with these fantastic drill holes that we've been drilling.

Gerardo Del Real: Absolutely. Let's talk about that a little bit. The last time that I had you on was right on the heels of that intersection that came in at 0.9 meters of 4,440 grams per tonne gold, 10.25% copper, 24.7% zinc, and 347 grams per tonne silver. Since then, I was fortunate enough to be out in Colombia to visit the San Matias project. I got to say, the exploration upside is obvious to anybody with eyes. But what I really was impressed with was the quality of the infrastructure surrounding the project. Could you touch on that just a bit, Mario, because I think that's rally important.

Mario Stifano: Look, you hit the nail right on the head. When you're trying to build a project, the most critical thing and the most costly thing is infrastructure. If you're in a region that doesn't have infrastructure you get capex blowout because you got to build all the infrastructure. We are so lucky that we're in the middle of a district in Colombia where there's infrastructure all around us. The reason is 'cause there are two operating open pit mines 10 kilometers away, and the other one is 20 kilometers away. That's South32's Cerro Matoso, it's the world's third largest nickel mine and it's open pit. Unless you're there it's hard to understand why that infrastructure is critical. So we know, we have an economic deposit now, at Alacran, we know it's going to get bigger but we know from a comparative perspective the capex will be lower than a lot of other mines because we don't have to run power grids for 100 kilometers because we're only 10 kilometers away from the grid. We have roads all around us. We're close to the port. This is what you want to see for an open pit district.

Gerardo Del Real: Absolutely. And let's talk about how that's gonna get bigger. Now obviously on February the 1st you announced you were commencing the expanded and aggressive drill program at San Matias. Again, you're looking to follow up those CBM bains at 4,440 per tonne gold at .9 meters that you hit but you're also looking to step out on the Alacran deposit and add some tonnage there. Can you talk a little bit about the goals of the drilling program and how you see that progressing?

Mario Stifano: Right, so we currently have 2 drills on site. One drill is at Alacran and the other drill will be focused on new targets. At Alacran, when we came up with the resource, it was obvious that the resource could get bigger, it's open at depth and there's some obvious targets there that we're gonna try and extend the deposit at depth. It's open to the east up dip and there's some obvious targets there and right in the middle of the resource there's some holes that with a little bit more drilling we can include that area into resource. So we're very confident that our resource which is currently at 55 million tonnes, .7 copper, .37 gold which is about 1.1 billion pounds copper equivalent or if you think in gold ounces it's 2.4 million ounces. The gold all high-grade. We think this deposit could get bigger with additional drilling but to your point, we had a very significant game-changer when we drove the 4,400 grams gold over that .9 meters because that hole is a whole different style of mineralization that has cross-cut the main Alacran deposit.

So the easiest way to think about it, and I've been toying in my head "how do you explain this?" It's almost like having 2 mines in one. That's basically what we are seeing now at Alacran. You've got the main open pit deposit but now you may be having this high-grade gold deposit with these carbonate-base metal veins cross-cutting this main deposit. Carbonate-base metal veins, I'll use Buritica as an example, as it's in Colombia, are typically high-grade and large. Buritica is almost 10 million ounces at 10 grams gold. We are so lucky as investors in Cordoba that we have the Alacran deposit and now potentially we have a carbonate-base metal deposit within Alacran.

Gerardo Del Real: Excellent, now Mario the other thing when you're standing there and you're actually looking at the deposit that really stands out is the strip ratio. You talk about maybe having, you know in the way that you explained it, possibly 2 mines in 1. When you're looking at Alacran, I mean it's clear as day that the strip ratio is so favorable. Can you chat a bit about that and explain that to those that are listening and maybe try to provide us a visual.

Mario Stifano: That's a great point. Again, because the mineralization at Alacran starts at surface and it also updips to surface. Then the northern part of Alacran is on a hillside. Basically as you start to mine this deposit, the northern part, you're almost at a 0 strip ratio. All the mineralization there is up around .9 to 1% copper equivalent. So we're quite lucky that when we start to mine Alacran we got no waste. It's all mineralized. The other key benefit we're gonna have within Alacran is because we have such a low strip ratio, and we're thinking this thing could end up being 1 to 1 strip ratio. You touched upon infrastructure and I mentioned when you have infrastructure it really reduces your capex. Well it's the same thing for strip ratio. If you have a mine that's 1 to 1 strip ratio you need significantly less mobile equipment. The trucks to move the ore and the waste is significantly less and if you have a 4 to 1 or 5 to 1 or 10 to 1 strip ratio. So everything is lining up ideally for us to have Alacran be an economic deposit.

Gerardo Del Real: Excellent. Now my understanding of the current drilling that is ongoing is that you have 2 rigs as you mentioned earlier. Do you expect more to be mobilized here in the near future?

Mario Stifano: Yes. So what we're going to start with is 2 rigs. We expect to have another rig at Alacran shortly. We're going to focus again on some info drilling, we're going to focus on following up on those carbonate-base metal veins. Now our view is that vein cannot be isolated because we have seen some indications of some additional veins in the northern part of Alacran and we're going back now to re-look at some of those veins. So we're going to focus on the carbonate-base metal veins while at the same time trying to expand the initial resource of Alacran and then the other drill will focus on additional targets. We're going to be looking for porphyries on our porphyry trend, which is our 13 kilometer trend. We're also going to be looking for the source of mineralization in Alacran. We believe there's a porphyry there somewhere nearby we just don't yet know where it is. But we will find it and I've said this many times and I've said it in my new release: Anywhere, anytime you can see a discovery from Cordoba on our district so just continue to hold on to your seats and be prepared because there will be multiple discoveries in our district. It's not just Alacran. There are multiple discoveries to be found.

Gerardo Del Real: Well, it's going to be an exciting 2017. I'm looking forward to the drilling, I'm looking forward to the assays and I'm looking forward to seeing the project develop. Is there anything else, Mario, you'd like to ad?

Mario Stifano: No, I think that's it. Just continue to be patient here, we're very aggressive explorers, we've got the best team to find world class discoveries. I was just in South Africa looking at Robert Friedland's assets, you know, Kamoa, Kakula, Kipushi, Platreef. These are all world-class style discoveries and you know, it really brings home how important it was to bring Robert Friedland and his team into our San Matias project. Because there's no one better than Robert Friedland and his team to help us find a world-class discovery at San Matias because we know it's there. Now we've got the team to help us find it.

Gerardo Del Real: Excellent. Mario, thank you again for your time, hopefully we have you back on soon as soon as we start getting further assay results from the new drilling.

Mario Stifano: Thank you, and I look forward to talking about our next drill results.

      Danke, Popeye!

      Aus dem Artikel:
      ...

The results to date have obviously impressed Friedland and his team. “He’s spent 20 million dollars on the property in a year and a half... .

...the potential for the Alacran Project to host a significant tonnage of high-grade, potentially open-pittable copper-gold mineralization... .

The initial NI 43-101 inferred resource is an impressive start. “We already have 53.5 million tonnes at 0.70% copper and 0.37 g/t gold or 1.1 billion pounds of copper equivalent or 2.4 million ounces of gold equivalent. Most copper mines are 0.5% copper equivalent, and we have signifantly more copper plus the gold putting our grade at almost twice the average and the deposit will get bigger”, added Stifano.

In our interview Stifano elaborated, “The initial NI 43-101 was based on results from only the first 22 holes we’ve drilled. There is a lot of “unclassified” material within the pit shell but we have just not done enough drilling to commit this material to resources. Also the deposit remains open.”

Perhaps as important is that the best hole Cordoba has drilled so far, with 108 meters of 1.26% copper and 0.87 g/t gold, is outside the pitshell. “Wherever we have drilled or sampled on the property we have found mineralization.” said Stifano.

Stifano is confident that Cordoba is looking at a world class district at San Matias. “To be world class you need grade and you need quantity. Half a billion tons of high grade material and you hit world class.” said Stifano, “But that still leaves the question, where’s the heart of it?”

Using Typhoon to find the targets, Cordoba is running its drills to try to find the source of the mineralization it is encountering. From the Cordoba shareholder perspective this is costless exploration as HPX is financing the exploration effort as part of their deal to acquire shares. “Cordoba does not have to spend a dime,” explained Stifano. And given that Friedland owns 36 percent of Cordoba, there is a precise alignment of interests.

At the moment, despite a gratifying rise in the price of Cordoba shares, Stifano is certain that the real value of the property is not yet appreciated by the market. “We’re identifying porphyries all over the property. To really appreciate the potential value of Cordoba you have to look at the potential of the district as a whole. The blue sky here is in the ongoing exploration of the district. We will turn that blue sky into reality with our aggressive exploration.” said Stifano.

      Ziemlich ruhig geworden....

      - Cordoba Minerals Intersects 108 metres of 1.26% Copper and 0.87 g/t Gold at the Alacran Deposit
      - Cordoba Minerals Intersects 4,440 g/t Gold, 10.25% Copper, 24.7% Zinc and 347 g/t Silver Over 0.9 Meters in New Discovery

CDB shares went through a wild swing last week, losing 15% last Thursday on no news just to regain most of the lost ground soon after. I still don’t know why. I do know that CDB is expecting to release drill results any day, so my best guess is anxious pre-trading. I do not share that anxiety, for two reasons. First, it seems obvious that Cordoba would have followed up its early January drill hole, the hot hole that tapped into a high-grade portion of the Alacran skarn outside of the defined resource, with another hole. As such I am guessing the next set of results should include at least a few good holes. Second, Cordoba’s partnership with High Power Exploration, Robert Friedland’s private exploreco, impacts its operational foci. A pure public company explorer has to feed the market, which often means working to expand a known zone even if other, perhaps more interesting targets beckon or releasing even one or two drill holes at a time to create newsflow and help keep investors engaged. With Cordoba, it’s different. As I’ve explained before, the fact that HPX is earning 65% of the San Matias project by taking at least one deposit to feasibility level while also owning 37% of Cordoba raises the question of why HPX doesn’t just take Cordoba over. I think the answer is that Friedland loves market success, but also likes to be able to do things his way and quickly, which can be difficult in a public company. The HPX-Cordoba partnership answers that quandary: HPX can operate on its own, private company terms, while pubco Cordoba provides a mark-to-market measure. The result has pros and cons for CDB investors. On the plus side, HPX is spending oodles of cash at San Matias and has very good geologists working to unlock its complex geologic puzzle. Friedland’s obvious backing also supports Cordoba’s share price. The main downside is that HPX doesn’t worry about market impressions on a daily basis. That’s why, despite constant drilling, Cordoba hasn’t released results in almost four months. They will, once HPX is ready, and when it happens the release will likely include a raft of data, but in the interim the market has to be patient...which it is not good at! So I expect results shortly, a big batch of them and including at least a few hot holes. I could certainly be wrong, but that’s where logic leads me.

      EXPLORATION UPDATE

Initial Mineral Resource Estimatefor the Alacran Copper and Gold Deposit

On January 5, 2017, the Company announced an initial Mineral Resource estimate for the Alacran
      Copper-Gold Deposit in Colombia.

      Highlights

•The initial, pit-constrained, Inferred Mineral Resource for the Alacran Deposit is 53.52 million tonnes
at 0.70% copper and 0.37 g/t gold, or 0.95% copper equivalent (CuEq), including 7.37 million tonnes
at 2.14% copper and 0.41 g/t gold above 1% copper (Cu) cut off.

      • The Inferred Mineral Resource is contained within a shallow, north-south trending mineralized corridor that is approximately 1.3 kilometres long and up to 355 metres wide.

      • Mineral resources are reported within a conceptual open-pit shell which extends for the full length
of the 1.3-kilometre corridor and to a depth of 220 metres below surface. The broad horizontal widths of mineral resource zones from surface are considered favorable for potential open-pit development at relatively low potential strip ratios, subject to the demonstration of economic viability.

      • Copper-gold mineralization has been intercepted in drill holes below the conceptual pit shell and
also at depths greater than 220 metres below surface; however, this mineralization was not included
in the initial Inferred Mineral Resource due to insufficient drilling at the Mineral Resource cut-off date.

This mineralization provides the joint venture with immediate drilling targets which could materially expand the Inferred Mineral Resource.

      • The Alacran mineralized system remains open to depth. Surface copper-gold geochemical anomalies also indicate significant potential for additional mineralized zones to the east and west of the Mineral Resource.

The potential for the discovery of the mineralizing source for the high-grade copper and gold at Alacran is considered strong. Drill targets have been identified and will be aggressively tested by the joint venture this year.

      Interview zu den Ergebnissen:

Gerardo Del Real: This is Gerardo Del Real with Resource Stock Digest. Joining me today is President and CEO of Cordoba Minerals (TSX-V: CDB)(OTC: CDBMF), Mr. Mario Stifano. Mario, thank you for joining me this afternoon.

Mario Stifano: Thank you, Gerardo, for inviting me.

Gerardo Del Real: I wanted to have you on, you had a big news release today. You released some results. The headline reads, "Cordoba Minerals Announces Additional High-Grade Copper-Gold Mineralization at the Alacran Deposit in Colombia." Initially the market received the news very well, you were up 8% to 9% early morning if I'm not mistaken. Then mid-morning I think the US markets turned over. It seems like all the copper stocks specifically got hit hard and that included Cordoba. But the news release, it doesn't take away from how positive that was, so I definitely wanted to go over the drill results, what you're seeing and what the next steps are. Let's talk about the actual release, some very, very good copper numbers, some decent gold numbers. Can you go over the details with me?

Mario Stifano: Yeah, thank you. The way Cordoba likes to do our drilling programs, we like to do a whole program and then release the results in batches. We're not a typical microcap junior that does one hole at a time. What we want to try and do to the market is tell a story.

With this release what's become very clear here is we do have a high-grade deposit at Alacran, we appear now to have a gold zone, potentially multiple gold zones at Alacran. It's a north-south trending zone with crosscutting east-west zones. We hit quite a bit of high-grade gold and high-grade copper in multiple holes. What's really interesting from an open-pit perspective, all the mineralization that we hit starts near surface and it's all within the open-pit resource envelope that we currently have at Alacran.

Gerardo Del Real: Excellent. The other really interesting part to this news release is that you also hit another intercept. We don't have assays yet, I'll caution everyone, but you did have some more visible gold. Can we talk about that? Because the last time you saw that you registered 0.9 meters of 4,440 grams per tonne gold, 10.25% copper and 24.7% zinc. Just throw in 347 grams per tonne silver for kicks, right?

      Mario Stifano: Exactly.

Gerardo Del Real: Obviously, everybody hopes for those kinds of numbers, nobody expects them again. The bottom line is, you found some more visible gold in an area which I believe is about 150 meters from this last intercept. Is that accurate?

Mario Stifano: That's correct. We're hoping it's good karma here because where we hit the 4,000 grams was in hole 36, and this visible gold is in hole 63, so the inverse. Hopefully that's a good indication of good karma for what we're seeing at Alacran. Yeah, we did hit some visible gold. We don't have any assays back as of yet. It was actually one of the last holes we drilled. It was great timing to put into the news release.

Hopefully within the next month or so we'll get assays and get that out to the market. Typically when you see visible gold you get good assays. Fingers crossed that we get something that the market's really going to like and zero in on again like they did on hole 36... .

      Interview:

      - we appear now to have a gold zone, potentially multiple gold zones at Alacran. It's a north-south trending zone with crosscutting east-west zones. We hit quite a bit of high-grade gold and high-grade copper in multiple holes. What's really interesting from an open-pit perspective, all the mineralization that we hit starts near surface and it's all within the open-pit resource envelope

      - At Alacran now, in the news release you'll see that we mention the dyke and the diorite intrusion. This is becoming a key feature for us and a key thing we're going to follow up down plunge because a lot of high-grade is related to this dyke and a lot of the high-grade is around the artisanal mines, where of course these artisanal miners have been mining for 30 years and where we hit hole 36 with the 4,000 gram hit. Now what we need to do and prepare ourselves for is some deeper holes around this village area, which we haven't done as of yet, and trying to follow where this mineralization is coming from. Because what we're hoping here is it will lead us to the porphyry.

      - We're hoping and we're anticipating that potentially the porphyry is sitting underneath this village area, where all these artisanal mines are, just from what we're starting to see in the core and the grades that we're starting to see in the core in this area. That's why we really want to focus now on a couple of deeper holes here. We're not just going to stop at the deeper holes, we see potential for offsets at Alacran to the north and the south based on a lot of the geological work we've been doing. Some of those targets will be drilled as well. There's a lot more to come we believe at Alacran.

Q: you found some more visible gold in an area which I believe is about 150 meters from this last intercept. Is that accurate?

A:Yeah, we did hit some visible gold. We don't have any assays back as of yet. It was actually one of the last holes we drilled. It was great timing to put into the news release. Hopefully within the next month or so we'll get assays and get that out to the market. (Anmerkung ca 1 Monat)

Q: When I went and visited the property you were very excited about following up at Costa Azul (liegt 2 KM östlich von Alacran) and at Montiel West and East. Can we talk a bit about those targets?

A: we drilled a hole there two years ago, it was around 80 meters of 0.6% copper and 0.5 grams gold, and it's a porphyry, but hasn't really been followed up. We just drilled one hole there and hopefully again we'll get some assays out on that in the next month.

That hole, Costa Azul to Buenos Aires trend, is about a three kilometer trend. We're seeing signficant geophysical targets... .

As you move further south to Buenos Aires there is some artisanal miners now that have started to mine some outcropping on top of a hill, where we can see the chalcopyrite and obviously they're recovering gold. We're getting really excited about this porphyry trend. Cordoba hasn't really focused yet on the porphyries because a lot of focus has been on Alacran, but as the year progresses we're going to be spending more and more time not only in Alacran but more and more time now starting to drill these porphyry targets. From a shareholder perspective, an investor perspective, I've said this many times, once we find these porphyries all bets are off on what the potential valuation could be for Cordoba.

Gwen Preston (Resource Maven) Kommentar zu Drillergebnissen
@mia Cordoba announced results from 22 holes into the northern half of the Alacran deposit. The results were good: intercepts were generally longer and higher grade than the deposit average and included several short high-grade hits.
Not included, however, was an interval like the mega high-grade hit Cordoba announced in late January (0.9 metres of 4,440 g/t gold 10.25% copper, 24.7% zinc, and 347 g/t silver). Unfortunately that’s what the market wanted to see. As a result CDB shares slid 15% in two days.
The slide put the price within 15% of our entry point ($0.80). For those not in the stock, I see this as a good opportunity.
The crazy hit announced in January came from a vein within the larger skarn deposit. Cordoba only just started understanding these veins in the last drill program (late 2016), which means the current drill program is the first attempt to track or define this new kind of mineralization.
The theory is that the veins resulted from the final mineralizing event at Alacran. They cut through established skarn mineralization, which is what makes up the current Alacran resource of 53.5 million inferred tonnes grading 0.7% copper and 0.37 g/t gold.
The skarn resource is growing. As much as investors wanted to see a few super high grade hits, what really matters are intercepts like 184 metres of 0.46% copper and 0.28 g/t gold, 128 metres of 0.8% copper and 0.24 g/t gold, and 28 metres of 1.55% copper and 0.58 g/t gold. Those are skarn intercepts but specifically they are long, well-mineralized skarn intercepts that set Alacran up for good resource growth in the next estimate.
It’s also important that drills are finding copper and gold in multiple rock types. Until recently it was assumed that only the limestones, siltstones, and mudstones carried grade, but as the cross section below shows it’s now apparent that the underlying volcanics and even the overlying tuff can also grade.
      3
The cross section is also a reminder of the structure and complexity of this deposit. In general, Alacran is a north-south striking body that dips steeply to the west. That is true, but within that body are multiple rock types and contacts.
As for the veins, the team still doesn’t understand well how to track them. The latest drilling did reveal an association between the veins and a diorite dyke the strikes right along the deposit but dips more steeply than the rest of the stratigraphy.
The other structural feature that seems to rouse higher grades is a north-northeast-striking fault corridor. Intercepts along this fault corridor so far suggest a set of stacked veins.
The dyke is the dark purple sliver and the fault the dashed blue line on this level plan, which actually shows rock types 75 metres below surface and incorporates a slight plunge to the south. At the moment most of the best gold intercepts, whether from veins or stronger skarn mineralization, happen near the dyke or fault.
       2 metres of 9.82 g/t gold and 1.57% copper
       2 metres of 11.15 g/t gold and 1.3% copper
       2 metres of 7.36 g/t gold and 1.56% copper
       2 metres of 3.4 g/t gold and 8.89% copper
“I know the market wanted more of
those high high grades and we will
find more, but we have to figure out where these veins are coming from,” said Mario Stifano, Cordoba president and CEO, in a call this afternoon. “They seem to be associated with this dyke, so we’re going to follow it down. We need to understand where all this mineralization is coming from.”
Down is good for another reason. Cordoba and partner HPX believe the veins are a particular type, called Carbonate Base Metal (CBM) veining, because they carry a particular mineralogy
      4
(chalcopyrite, sphalerite, carbonates, and coarse gold). The distinctive presence of zinc in particular (sphalerite) in these veins is proving consistent as drilling continues.
CBM systems are known for two key characteristics: high grades and deep extent. Unlike many vein systems that pinch out a few hundred metres down, CBM veins often carry on for hundreds and hundreds of metres.
So drilling at depth will be useful both for understanding structural controls on veining and to assess whether this CBM system offers that kind of rich depth extent. Cordoba has not done much deep work yet because the focus was on understanding the system and proving up a good open pit resource. They were also constrained in their deep drilling because many of the best spots are within the small town and locals have only recently granted permission for Cordoba to drill deep holes (the difference being that long holes take a long time, which means days of noise).
It’s now time for some depth work, especially since Cordoba and HPX also recently completed mag and IP work that highlights good depth potential.
The locals are clearly getting comfortable having Cordoba around, as they also just granted another permission: to sample the underground workings. Remember, the town of El Alacran is a mining town. Almost every man is a miner; instead of a town square El Alacran has a tailings pond. The town rings constantly with the hum of small ball mills that grind ore into sand, which is spread on walled tables and its gold leached with cyanide.
Houses (on the left), an adit (the grey area in the middle), and process facilities (on the right) in the town of El Alacran
      5
Adits disappear into the hillsides everywhere around El Alacran, driving right into the Alacran deposit. Cordoba has not had access to these extensive workings – until now. In short order a team will explore and map the workings, which should provide very useful information.
So. Cordoba’s results were good. There should be another batch in six to eight weeks – there is one rig turning, each hole takes a few days, and the Cordoba-HPX style is to release at least a dozen holes at a time.
It’s tough to know what CDB’s price will do between now and then. I think the market ‘overreacted’ to this set of holes not offering another doozy one-metre hit, but I also understand the Alacran deposit better than most and with that background see this set of results expanding the overall deposit and boosting its grade, while helping the team figure out how to home in on more high grade.
The deep holes will help, as will the underground mapping, though both will take a bit of time. In the meantime Cordoba will push holes through the dyke contact and the fault zone, hopefully capturing high-grade hits while expanding the overall deposit.
Given the summer doldrums, CDB may yet get a bit cheaper, especially since the next set of results are two months out. As such I don’t think there’s a rush to buy the stock but I do think this asset will deliver another doozy or two down the road, while establishing a solid skarn deposit.

Cordoba Minerals completes five drill holes at Alacran

      2017-10-26 11:44 ET - News Release

      Mr. Mario Stifano reports

CORDOBA MINERALS CORP. PROVIDES COMPANY UPDATE

Cordoba Minerals Corp. is providing an update on its continuing resource expansion program at the high-grade, near-surface Alacran deposit (located within the San Matias copper-gold project in Colombia) as well as other continuing activities.

      Drill program -- September/October, 2017

Cordoba is pleased to report that five out of the 10 planned drill holes at Alacran have been successfully completed. The company continues to work diligently to complete the remainder of the planned drill campaign. Drilling is taking place in two main fronts aimed at extending the resource in the immediate vicinity of an internally modelled pit shell.

Downdip extension to the west: The two stepout holes drilled so far in the northwestern portion of the deposit (ACD070 and ACD071) were successful at proving downdip continuation of the copper-gold mantos with wide intersections of abundant chalcopyrite mineralization. This is particularly impressive in hole ACD070, where the stratabound copper-gold mineralization is overprinted by a discordant metre-wide fault zone filled with semi-massive sulphides. Predominance of arsenopyrite (plus minor pyrite and sphalerite), coupled with the pervasive sericite-illite alteration and carbonate gangue, is diagnostic of a low-sulphidation epithermal vein event. Assay results are pending.

Southern extension of Alacran: Three stepout holes (ACD067, ACD069 and ACD072) were completed, adding 100 metres of strike length to the south of the shallow ore grade intercept that was reported in July for hole ACD066 (48 metres at 0.70 per cent copper and 0.19 gram per tonne gold). Assay results are also pending for these holes.

Mario Stifano, president and chief executive officer of Cordoba, said: "We are encouraged by our team's progress toward our immediate goal of publishing an updated resource estimate at the Alacran deposit. The exciting discovery of new epithermal veins increases the likelihood for additional high-grade gold at Alacran, and it remains unclear if they are related to previously reported high-grade gold-bearing carbonate base metal (CBM) veins. The downdip continuation of mineralization at northern Alacran has the potential to significantly increase the size and tonnage of the deposit. In addition, the potential relationship of the epithermal veins to the large soil anomaly and intrusive immediately north of Alacran needs to be explored."

      Step-Out Bohrung
Bin echt mal gespannt. Denn eine Step-Out Bohrung ( s.
