Ueno und Twitter: was EM wohl *vorher* mal wieder nicht wusste
Hintergrund zum Streit mit Haraldur Þorleifsson aus Island:

in kurz mMn: EM möchte wohl Zahlungen von grob geschätzt US$ 50 Millionen vermeiden (also grob US$1.0 Million pro übernommene/n MitarbeiterIn (*) in bislang ähnlich gelagerten Fällen in den USA; hier in 2021)

Haraldur Þorleifsson Sweeps Person of the Year Awards
      https://www.icelandreview.com/news/haraldur-thorleifsson-swe…
      ...
Haraldur Þorleifsson, known as Halli, has garnered multiple Person of the Year Awards from various Icelanidc media outlets, including from national broadcaster RÚV, Morgunblaðið, and Vísir.

Halli, a 45 year-old designer, gained nation-wide recognition this year when, after the sale of his tech company Ueno to Twitter, he chose to be paid the sale price as wages. Normally in such large sales, the payment comes in the form of stock or other financial instruments, which categorize the sale as capital gains, meaning it is taxed at a much lower rate. Halli, however, gladly paid the higher tax rate, having spoken publicly on many occasions about the benefits he has received from the Icelandic social system.

Halli was born with muscular dystrophy and came from a working class background. In statements about his decision to pay back into the Icelandic social system, he cited both healthcare and education in Iceland as keys to his success. Notably, he was one of the highest tax payers in the nation after the sale of Ueno.

Since the sale of Ueno, Halli has engaged in numerous philanthropic pursuits, earning a reputation as Iceland’s benevolent tech titan.

The company also said it will be meeting with Ueno’s 50 global employees over the weeks ahead to learn more about their professional backgrounds and goals — essentially, to determine if they can fit inside Twitter’s design and research orgs. That means Twitter may or may not end up hiring all 50.

      6:34 PM · Mar 7, 2023:
      ...
From what I’ve been told, he’s done almost no work for the past four months, middle-management or otherwise.
      ...
      https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1633159188787658757

=> mit anderen Worten: zuletzt sind ihm da wohl selber Zweifel an seinem Vorgehen gekommen

Auch hat EM ein "The reality is that this guy (who is independently wealthy) did no actual work.." https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1633011448459964417 10 Stunden später zu einem "almost no work" leicht abgeschwächt.

He thinks for Mr Musk it's about money. He says cleaning and catering staff were all sacked - and that Mr Musk even tried to sell the office plants to employees.

EM ist ein böser und schlechter Mensch:

Elon Musk branded 'world's worst boss' for publicly humiliating employee who asks if he's been sacked
      https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/elon-musk-branded-…
      ...
In an interview with the BBC, Thorleifsson confirmed that following his public duel with Musk, Twitter’s HR department sent him an email confirming he had, indeed, been given the boot.

The Icelandic designer also told the news site about his fears regarding the contract he signed with Twitter when he sold them his company, in light of Musk’s behaviour.

"This is extremely stressful. This is my retirement fund, a way to take care of myself and my family as my disease progresses. Having the richest man in the world on the other end of this, potentially refusing to stand by contracts is not easy for me to accept," he said.

Thorleifsson explained that one of the reasons he decided to sell is that he has muscular dystrophy, meaning his “body is slowly but surely failing” him.

"I have a few good work years left in me so this was a way to wrap up my company, and set up myself and my family for years when I won't be able to do as much," he said.

Did we mention Musk has been branded the “world’s worst boss” and an “absolute scumbag”? – a Twitter user’s words. Not ours…

Tesla Inc. is no longer the favorite US-listed automaker of Adam Jonas, the Morgan Stanley analyst who has been a long-time bull on the electric vehicle maker.

Jonas now prefers Italian luxury-car maker Ferrari NV, saying it has the “longest order backlog, greatest earnings visibility and highest pricing power of any company we cover.” The maker of six-figure supercars like the new €390,000 ($415,000) Purosangue crossover has a “near unmatched brand” and is a defensive name in the sector amid macroeconomic uncertainty and a consumer squeeze, he added.

Since my work, whether on Twitter, Youtube, or on Patron, is not weighted by my audience as I would have liked, I cannot say how long I will continue to put hours and hours into my publications each week and may decide to decrease or even stop my publications.

I bought our house 2 months ago from my brothers and sisters and there is a lot to do because my family never had money and did not invest in the house for decades. It was built by my father and his brother and not much has changed in the last 70 years and if just by family members to keep it protected.

Over the next few years, I'm going to spend a lot of time and significant money not only renovating it but making it a place where all the energy and electricity are generated and consumed on-site in a sustainable way.
      ...

All of that I have done without selling a single Tesla share and I have no plans to do it anytime soon but at a certain point in time may and must decide to do so. Sooner or later all my Tesla stocks will be used to create, maintain, and support the mission and natural reserves to protect the most valuable thing humanity has – the earth.
