Gas Lobby Warns of Price Shocks Without Investment in New Supply
      https://finance.yahoo.com/news/gas-lobby-warns-price-shocks-…
      ...
Despite enduring demand for gas as a bridge fuel in the energy transition, supply is expected to crash following a 58% cut in investment from 2014 to 2020, the International Gas Union said. While spending has since edged up, differing forecasts for consumption and ambitious net zero policies hamper future planning.

“Restoring a sustainable balance in the global gas market is imperative and requires addressing the existing supply shortfall,” the IGU said in a report prepared with consultants Rystad Energy AS and Italian gas-grid operator Snam SpA. Investments are needed “to cope with natural supply decline, global demand dynamics, and likely growth in several regions.”

Countries in Europe have scrambled to secure new gas supplies after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine upended markets and prompted nations to prioritize energy security over green targets. Confidence in the fuel’s lasting appeal was evident in two long-term liquefied natural gas deals struck with Qatar this month.

Im Juni hat SandRidge Energy wieder eine Dividende ausbezahlt: one-time dividend of $2.00 per share (for a total payout of approximately $74 million): https://investors.sandridgeenergy.com/investor-relations/pre…

In der Meldung steht nicht mal drin, seit wann wieder:

The Board also announced that it currently plans to commence an on-going quarterly dividend of $0.10 per share starting after the second quarter 2023, estimated to be first paid in August 2023, continuing every quarter thereafter until noticed.

Kein Wunder, war es das letzte Mal offenbar in 1997:

US shale producers are on course to make nearly $200 billion this year, enough to make the industry debt-free by 2024 and potentially fund a pivot toward more natural gas production, according to Deloitte LLP.
      ...

The trend is most powerfully seen in US shale, which burned through about $300 billion of cash from 2010 to 2019. But for those companies that survived the pandemic, the bounty is well and truly here. The industry will have made back that entire loss in 2021 and 2022, with further profits on the horizon for the rest of the decade. Deloitte’s analysis assumes an average Brent oil price of $106 a barrel for 2022 and $81 a barrel for 2023. Brent futures settled at $101.22 a barrel on Wednesday.

The report also showed the scale of the profits beginning to come from US liquefied natural gas operators. They are expected to make $59 billion this year, double last year’s amount and easily making back $45 billion of losses from 2013 to 2020.

American gas exporters and German buyers of the power-plant fuel will meet next week in Berlin to speed up talks on how the U.S. can help the European industrial powerhouse wean itself off Russian supplies, people familiar with the plan said.

The U.S. Embassy in Germany is coordinating the meeting with the liquefied natural gas suppliers, expected to take place after the March 29-30 Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue conference, said the people, asking not to be named because the information isn’t public.

U.S. Embassy officials didn’t have an immediate comment.

This Could Be When Shale Driller Discipline Cracks, Citi Warns
      https://finance.yahoo.com/news/could-shale-driller-disciplin…
      ...
U.S. shale explorers are poised to boost spending by almost 40% this year, based on comments and plans revealed during recent earnings presentations, Citi analyst Scott Gruber wrote in a note to investors on Monday. That’s up from the bank’s previous call for a 30% rise. Overseas budgets are seen jumping by 32% from the old forecast of 17%.

“E&P managements will be hard pressed to abandon their commitments,” Gruber wrote. “But we foresee an increasing number beginning to lean into the market as the challenge of managing supply in a market as disaggregated as the global oil market becomes increasingly clear.”

U.S. companies probably will lift domestic daily crude production by as much as 1 million barrels this year, according to various analysts. American oil prices have climbed 21% this year to more than $90 a barrel, extending last year’s 55% advance.

U.S. Crude Output to Rise to Record in 2023 on Shale Growth
      https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/u-s-crude-output-to-rise-to-reco…
      ...
U.S. annual oil production is set to rise to a record next year as shale producers continue to boost output.

Oil supply will average 12.41 million barrels a day in 2023, according to the Energy Information Administration. That would surpass the current annual high of 12.3 million barrels a day set in 2019, the EIA said in its monthly Short-Term Energy Outlook report.

The agency also lowered its production estimate for this year to 11.8 million barrels a day.

The projected rise in U.S. output would represent nine consecutive quarters of growth, beginning the last three months of 2021, the EIA said. U.S. crude production reached a monthly peak in late 2019, months before the pandemic jolted global markets and forced producers to slash output. Since then oil prices have recovered by more than 50% but major producers have been weary of bringing back supplies too quickly, keeping monthly figures below pre-pandemic highs.
      ...

The agency also sees global petroleum supply rising to a record this year of 101.05 million barrels a day. That’s an upward revision from last month’s forecast of 100.93 million. The EIA expects global production will rise further to 102.8 million barrels a day in 2023.

Global consumption is set to reach 100.52 million barrels a day this year from its previous estimate of 100.46 million, according to the report. Consumption is expected to jump to 102.3 million barrels a day in 2023.

Natural gas prices to stay high for next two years, Centrica CEO says
      https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/gas-prices-to-stay-high-for-next…
      ...
Natural gas prices are likely to remain high for the next two years, with very few options to boost supplies quickly, according to the chief executive of Britain’s biggest energy supplier.

The U.K. market is exposed to global supply and demand forces, and having more domestic supply wouldn’t have brought prices down significantly, said Chris O’Shea, CEO of Centrica Plc, owner of British Gas. Wholesale prices tripled last year, and millions of British consumers now face a more than 50 per cent increase to energy bills from April.

“There’s no reason to think that energy prices will come down any time soon,” he told BBC radio on Wednesday. “The market suggests that high gas prices will be here for the next 18 months to 2 years.”

Britain has become more dependent on gas imports from places like Norway, Europe and as far afield as the U.S. and Qatar.

Domestic production has been in decline for years and in 2017, Centrica opted to shut its aging Rough site, the U.K.’s gas storage biggest storage facility -- a decision that has been questioned in the current crisis and a criticism O’Shea rejects.

“Having more domestic supply isn’t something that would have brought gas gas price down from three pounds a therm, as it was in December, to 50 pence a therm as it was a year ago,” he said. “We’re simply not in a position to simply have the U.K. as an isolated energy market.”

New England Power Prices Soar on Higher Gas Costs, Deep Freeze
      https://finance.yahoo.com/news/england-power-prices-soar-hig…
      ...
Electricity prices in New England jumped on Tuesday as a frigid start to the day spurred demand when the cost of natural gas used to fuel power plants soared.

Real-time power prices on the six-state grid in the U.S. Northeast averaged $141.90 a megawatt-hour as of 11 a.m., up fourfold from the same period on Monday, according to ISO New England data.

Temperatures were at about 24 degrees Fahrenheit (-4 Celsius) in Boston at 11 a.m., spurring heating demand. Power is also more expensive this week because of a jump in natural gas prices, the main fuel for power plants. Spot gas prices on Enbridge’s Algonquin system that serves New England jumped 88% on Monday from the prior trading day.

New England is frequently the most sensitive region to gas-supply constraints because it’s geographically at the end of the massive U.S. pipeline network.

Attempts to build more pipelines to increase the flow have failed, and the region has to compete with places like Europe and Asia to lure cargoes of the fuel.
