SpaceX plans to sell shares next month at $150B valuation — same as summer 2023: sources
https://nypost.com/2023/11/22/business/spacex-plans-to-sell-…
...
The closely held company — whose satellite-launching Starlink unit has reportedly struggled to meet profit goals despite rampant growth — is planning to launch a tender offer in December valuing SpaceX at around $150 billion, the same price tag it was assigned in a July tender offer, according to reports.
SpaceX’s July tender, which raised $750 million in cash, according to Bloomberg, followed a similar deal in January that also had raised $750 million, but at a $137 billion valuation.
Terms of that tender had represented a steady climb from May 2022, when SpaceX was valued at $125 billion.
Launching a tender offer next month appears to confirm that Musk is not considering a near-term IPO for its Starlink satellite division.

NASA will launch a Mars mission on Blue Origin’s first New Glenn rocket
This Mars mission is relatively modest in cost, so NASA thinks it's worth the risk.
https://arstechnica.com/space/2023/11/nasa-will-launch-a-mar…
...
The first flight of Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket seems to have a payload. Instead of launching a sports car, as SpaceX did with its first Falcon Heavy rocket, Jeff Bezos's space company will likely launch a pair of Mars probes for NASA.
NASA is aware of the risk of launching a real science mission on the first flight of a new rocket. But this mission, known by the acronym ESCAPADE, is relatively low cost. The Escape and Plasma Acceleration and Dynamics Explorers mission has a budget of approximately $79 million, significantly less than any mission NASA has sent to Mars in recent history.

Hier ist ein informativer Thread zu diesem Testflug: https://twitter.com/Tazerface16/status/1725712802239943023
Er wurde bereits vor dem Start geschrieben und sagte den Mißerfolg korrekt voraus: "..there's a better than 50/50 chance the Starship will blow up again.."

https://www.golem.de/news/spacex-auch-der-zweite-flug-des-st…
...

A REUTERS INVESTIGATION: At SpaceX, worker injuries soar in Elon Musk’s rush to Mars
https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/spacex-m…
...
Reuters documented at least 600 previously unreported workplace injuries at Musk’s rocket company: crushed limbs, amputations, electrocutions, head and eye wounds and one death. SpaceX employees say they’re paying the price for the billionaire’s push to colonize space at breakneck speed.
...
One windy night at Elon Musk’s SpaceX facility in McGregor, Texas, Lonnie LeBlanc and his co-workers realized they had a problem. They needed to transport foam insulation to the rocket company’s main hangar but had no straps to secure the cargo. LeBlanc, a relatively new employee, offered a solution to hold down the load: He sat on it.
After the truck drove away, a gust blew LeBlanc and the insulation off the trailer, slamming him headfirst into the pavement. LeBlanc, 38, had retired nine months earlier from the U.S. Marine Corps. He was pronounced dead from head trauma at the scene.

Israel says it will fight Elon Musk's pledge to provide aid organizations in Gaza with satellite service
https://edition.cnn.com/middleeast/live-news/israel-hamas-wa…
...
Israel vowed to fight Elon Musk’s pledge to provide aid organizations in Gaza with Starlink satellite service as the besieged strip struggles with internet connectivity.
Israeli Minister of Communications Shlomo Karhi said on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Hamas "will use it for terrorist activities."
"Perhaps Musk would be willing to condition it with the release of our abducted babies, sons, daughters, elderly people. All of them! By then, my office will cut any ties with starlink,” Karhi posted.
Musk made the announcement on X, which he owns, after US Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said that “cutting off all communication to a population of 2.2 million is unacceptable.”
“Starlink will support connectivity to internationally recognized aid organizations in Gaza,” Musk said in a post replying to Ocasio-Cortez.
In another post replying to another X account, Musk said, “No terminals from Gaza have attempted to communicate with our constellation.”

Amazon launches test satellites in challenge to Musk's Starlink
https://news.yahoo.com/amazons-challenge-musks-starlink-firs…
...
Amazon launched two satellites on Friday as part of its plan to deliver the internet from space and compete with Elon Musk's Starlink service.
The Atlas V rocket carrying the satellites lifted off from Cape Canaveral in Florida at 2:06 pm local time (6:06 pm GMT).
The launch was carried out by the United Launch Alliance (ULA) industrial group, a joint venture between Boeing and Lockheed Martin.
Once up and running, the company founded by Jeff Bezos says its Project Kuiper will provide "fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world," with a constellation of more than 3,200 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO).
"We've done extensive testing here in our lab and have a high degree of confidence in our satellite design, but there's no substitute for on-orbit testing," said Rajeev Badyal, Project Kuiper's vice president of technology.
The company has said it would invest $10 billion in the project and has booked 77 heavy-lift launches with commercial providers Arianespace, ULA, and Bezos-owned Blue Origin.
The first operational satellites of the Kuiper project are due to be launched in early 2024, according to Amazon, which hopes for initial tests with customers at the end of next year.

Elon Musk’s SpaceX Settles Claim It Tried to Stifle Employee’s Speech
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/elon-musk-s-spacex…
...
Elon Musk’s SpaceX agreed to settle a claim by the US labor board that the company illegally tried to stifle an employee’s speech with a warning not to discuss job conditions with co-workers.
A regional director of the US National Labor Relations Board determined that the aerospace company violated federal law by admonishing an employee not to talk to coworkers about working conditions they were discussing with human resources staff, agency spokesperson Kayla Blado said.
The settlement resolves a complaint that was filed with the agency last September, accusing SpaceX of “reprimanding” an employee for engaging in collective action “involving opposition to offensive racial comments in the workplace.”
The case is one of several run-ins that Musk’s companies have had with the labor board in recent years. SpaceX also is fighting an August complaint by the US Justice Department that it discriminates against refugees looking for jobs at its rocket factory. The billionaire’s electric-car maker, Tesla Inc., was sued Thursday by the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission over claims it created a hostile work environment for racial minorities at its California factory.
