American Access Technologies, Herman Miller, Outfit Digital Library in Phase I for Kellogg Community College
LAKE MARY, Fla., May 24, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- In the first of a
three-building data network upgrade, Kellogg Community College, Battle Creek,
Michigan, is installing $2 million in Herman Miller modular furniture
(Nasdaq: MLHR) outfitted exclusively with American Access Technologies, Inc.
(Nasdaq: AATK) patented slip-fit Ethocom zone cabling units.
American Access Regional Sales Manager Jim Herrick said "Our solution was to
provide Ethocom Active Zone Cabling Enclosures for a high speed data network
needed for Kellogg`s Digital Library. The Library features 54 Herman Miller
research stations in clusters of 8, all fed by Ethocom Fiber Optic high speed
data signals."
Kellogg`s Director of Information Services, Ozzie LaFleur, said that he has
approved American Access` active zone cabling networks, including its floor
units, in the next two phases. "I`m enthused. We have two multi-story high-rises
in the design phase, and zone cabling is a true smart building solution for us."
Del Elridge, account manager for Herman Miller, orchestrated the $2 million
Phase I sale of the modular furniture system that includes American Access
products, installed in this multi-use four-story building.
American Access manufactures zone cabling units that mount in ceilings, raised
floors, and in Herman Miller Ethospace furniture. The Company`s concept of "zone
cabling" reduces costs of installation and maintenance by as much as 70%, while
providing versatility for voice and data infrastructures.
Along with Herman Miller, publicly-held companies that are customers of American
Access include Sun Microsystems; Lucent Technologies; SGI; Baan Company N.V.;
Qwest Communications International Inc.; Fina, Inc. (NYSE:FIN); First Data
Corporation; Gateway 2000 Inc.; Harris Corporation; Household International
Inc.; Mobil Corporation; Cisco Systems, Inc.; and Level 3 Communications, Inc.
Several private corporations, school districts and other government entities
also are American Access customers.
