29.05.00 Gold +3 auf 273 $/oz, Goldaktien freundlicher, Analyse: TVX (Nordamerika)

Der Goldpreis konnte sich im Freitagshandel in New York um 2 auf 272 $/oz befestigen. Heute
morgen notierte der Goldpreis im Handel in Sydney und Hongkong in der Handelsspanne
zwischen 272 und 273 $/oz nochmals etwas höher. Die Goldaktien entwickelten sich weltweit
freundlicher.

Der nordamerikanische xau-Goldminenindex befestigte sich um 0,4 % oder 0,2 auf 56,8 Punkte.
Bei den Standardwerten stiegen Barrick 1,4 % und Franco Nevada 1,1 %. Freeport fiel um 3,8 %
zurück. Bei den kleineren Werten gewannen Echo Bay 13,3 %, Kinross 8,4 %, TVX 6,7 % und
Battle Mountain 3,2 %.

Der australische Goldminenindex gab um 0,4 % oder 2,8 auf 660,8 Punkte nach. Bei den
Standardwerten fiel Newcrest um 3,3 % zurück. Goldfields befestigte sich um 1,9 %. Bei den
kleineren Werten schloß Dome Resources, die von der südafrikanischen Durban Roodepoort
Deep komplett übernommen werden, um 5,8 % höher. Der Basismetallkonzern MIM stieg um 3,6
%.

29.05.00 TVX (NA, MKP 126 Mio A$) meldet für das Märzquartal eine Goldproduktion von 48.700
oz und eine Silberproduktion von 740.000 oz, was einem Goldäquivalent von 62.200 oz
entspricht. Die Jahresproduktionsrate liegt damit bei etwa 250.000 oz. Bei Nettoproduktionskosten
von 172 $/oz und einem Verkaufspreis von 365 $/oz für das Gold und 4,30 $/oz für das Silber
konnte TVX im Märzquartal einen operativen Gewinn von 6,4 Mio $ erzielen, was einem aktuellen
KGV von 3,2 entspricht. Im griechischen Olympias Projekt wird der Abschluß der Umweltstudie
noch im Juniquartal erwartet, nachdem die Archäologen ihre Studien abgeschlossen haben. Am
2. Juni 2000 findet eine Anhörung vor dem Obersten Gericht statt, in dem alle bisherigen
Genehmigungen für das Projekt angefochten werden können. Sollte das Projekt genehmigt
werden, ist die Erstellung von Produktionsanlagen für jährlich 254.000 oz Gold und 2,3 Mio oz
Silber innerhalb von 2 Jahren vorgesehen. Am 31. März 2000 verfügte TVX über einen
Cashbestand von 181,8 Mio A$, der über dem aktuellen Gegenwert der Gesellschaft lag.

Beurteilung: Bei einer aktuellen Produktion von 250.000 oz, einem aktuellen KGV von 3,2, einer
Lebensdauer der Reserven von 49,5 Jahren, einer Lebensdauer der Ressourcen von 80,3 Jahren
und einem Hebel von 27,8 auf den Goldpreis eignet sich TVX als erstklassiges Investment für ein
spekulatives Goldminendepot. Der Erfolg der TVX hängt allerdings wesentlich von der
Entwicklung des griechischen Olympias Projektes ab, dessen Genehmigung fraglich ist.

Empfehlung: Halten, unter 1,00 $ kaufen, aktueller Kurs 0,50 $. TVX wird in Deutschland mit den
größten Umsätzen in Stuttgart gehandelt.

wie ist der Einfluss der Deutschen Bank auf TVX zu beurteilen, dazu steht leider nichts in der Analyse.
Wie seht ihr die starken Shortpositionen im Zusammenhang mit der Genehmigung? Aus der Sicht kann es doch nur positiv ausgehen. Geld regiert die Welt oder ist dass in Griechenland anders?

Ich finde hier täglich eure Ausführungen zum Gold und zu Goldminenaktien, stelle jedoch fest, daß die Kolumne nur beschreibenden Charakter aufweist.
Den letzten Handelstag zusammenzufassen ist doch letzendlich nur bedingt interessant und lediglich eine Fleißarbeit.
Ich vermisse konkrete Aussagen und Einschätzungen über die Zukunft.
Man investiert je schließlich in Zukunftserwartungen.

Zugegeben, bei Zukunftsprognosen kann man falsch liegen, aber wer was zu sagen hat, sollte sich schon trauen - oder?

ich empfinde ähnlich wie Du, was diese Kolumne anbelangt. Interessant sind letztlich nur die Einschätzungen zu den einzelnen Goldminen. Ob der Modus, jeden Tag einen Wert herauszugreifen, gut gewählt ist, darüber kann man streiten. Eine gut gepflegte Homepage mit Links zu den jeweiligen Einschätzungen wäre für uns als Surfer sicher eine gute Alternative.

Es gibt jedoch eine sehr empfehlenswerte Internetseite, die die von Dir vermißten Aussagen und Einschätzungen über die Zukunft liefert. Sie wird an jedem (US-)Werktag aktualisiert. Ich schätze diese Seite sehr. Es ist S. J. Kaplans http://www.goldminingoutlook.com. Vielleicht kennst Du die Seite ja noch nicht.

Zu TVX Gold Inc. wäre noch folgendes anzumerken:
Die NYSE (New York Stock Exchance) fordert, dass der Aktienkurs aller gelisteten Gesellschaften mindestens 1 US$ beträgt. TVX Gold Inc. notiert zur Zeit bei etwa 0,50 US$. Um dies zu ändern ist geplant jeweils fünf (5) „alte“ Aktien zu einer „neuen“ zusammenzufassen (Reverse Split). Diese Kapitalmaßnahme soll am 27.06.2000 in Toronto im Rahmen einer außerordentlichen Hauptversammlung beschlossen werden.
Der Kurs der TVX Gold Inc. Aktie sank nach der Bekanntmachung dieser Meldung am 18.05.2000 von 0,75 US$ auf den heutigen Stand ab.
Es gibt momentan 179.616.097 alte Aktien. Nach der Kapitalmaßnahme wird es demnach 35.923.219 Anteile geben.

Court Confirms Status Quo
TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 2000--The Court of Appeal for Ontario (the ``Court``) dismissed the appeals and cross-appeals in the action brought by the Alpha Group (``Alpha``) against TVX Gold Inc. (NYSE:TVX - news; TSE:TVX. - news; ``TVX``). The result of the Court decision is to maintain the effect of the trial judgment of Madam Justice Feldman, which granted Alpha a 12% carried interest and the right to acquire a 12% participating interest in the Kassandra Mines, upon payment of applicable costs. TVX maintains its ownership in and control of the Kassandra Mines.

In dismissing TVX`s appeal, the Court of Appeal overturned the trial judge`s finding that TVX owed Alpha a fiduciary duty which survived the termination of the agreement between TVX and Alpha. The Court, however, upheld the claim of Alpha that TVX used confidential information which belonged to Alpha.

The Court of Appeal also rejected the cross-appeal of Alpha which claimed the entirety of the Kassandra Mines. The Court stated ``there is no basis in law for the remedy sought by Alpha``. The Court further rejected an alternative claim by Alpha to convert its interest into a substantial damages award.

The judgment of the Court of Appeal leaves a clear path for 1235866 Ontario Inc. (``1235866``), the successor to Curragh Inc., to continue with its action against Alpha. This action claims Alpha`s interest in the mines on the basis that Alpha improperly took the business opportunity to acquire the Kassandra Mines from Curragh, and misused Curragh confidential information. TVX entered into an agreement with 1235866 in July 1999 that will ensure that these new claims will not result in any additional diminution of TVX`s interests in the Kassandra Mines.

TVX will be reviewing the decision and considering its position with respect to a possible application for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada. The Court of Appeal decision, however, does not change the current situation, in which TVX is proceeding with the development of the Kassandra Mines.

Greek Counseil d`Etat Hearing Postponed TVX to Continue Ongoing Development Work at Olympias
TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 2, 2000--TVX Gold Inc. (TSE:TVX. - news; NYSE:TVX - news; ``TVX``) was advised today that the Greek Counseil d`Etat (Supreme Court for Administrative matters) has postponed, on its own accord, until October 6, 2000, the hearing scheduled for today concerning challenges to certain permits, which were issued to its 100% owned subsidiary, TVX Hellas S.A. (``TVX Hellas``).

The postponement is to provide time for the Court to consider the recently announced Greek Central Archaeological Council (``CAC``) decision, which gave clearance for the development of the Olympias project. The postponement does not affect the ongoing development work at either the Olympias project or the Stratoni operations.

These challenges are brought against the Greek Government by three local Municipalities on environmental grounds. TVX Hellas, along with 6 local unions, the Labour Centre of Halkidiki, the National General Confederation of Greek Workers, the local Municipality of Panagia and several members of local Town Councils have been granted standing as intervenors in support of the Greek Government`s position.

The Environmental Impact Study (``EIS``), being the key permit required before commencing development and construction of the Olympias project, is anticipated in the coming weeks. The content of the EIS has been agreed with the Ministry of the Environment, who has made the document available to the public for comment. Following a public hearing scheduled for early June, the Environmental terms for the development of the project will be finalized. This is the last major permitting hurdle the project must overcome. Receipt of construction permits is anticipated late summer.

TVX, while disappointed by the postponement of the hearing by the Court, recognizes that the Greek Government defence will be strengthened by being able to demonstrate that all key permits relating to the Olympias project, including the CAC decision and the EIS, will have been considered, approved and issued prior to the October 6, 2000 hearing date.
