Hallo AMX`ler !
Tja, ich bin auch noch mit an Bord. Endlich mal wieder ein Lebenszeichen von AMX, das ich Euch nicht vorenthalten möchte:
AMX RESOURCES LIMITED (AXR)
(Company background)
Deployment -Aust`s First Broadband Wireless Local Loop Ntwrk

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AMX RESOURCES LIMITED 2000-05-31
AMX Resources Limited (AMX) today announced that it had selected the
technology to allow the immediate deployment of Australia`s first
broadband wireless local loop (WLL) network. AMX is planning to
deploy a nationwide network providing enhanced telecommunications
services based on a true "last mile" solution capable of delivering
broadband services to support voice, video and data applications.
System trials will be conducted utilising products from two
suppliers, Spike Technologies Inc (Spike) and Hybrid Networks Inc
(Hybrid). Both systems are to be run in parallel to allow a direct
comparison of their capabilities to be completed. Spike and Hybrid
will provide equipment and resources during the trial period at no
cost to AMX which demonstrates their commitment to AMX`s business
initiatives. AMX has selected Cisco routers and switching equipment
as the transport platform to manage data applications.
Spike is a manufacturer of advanced microwave devices based in New
Hampshire, USA. Hybrid is a technology supplier and subsidiary
partner (approximately 30%) to Sprint Corporation, providing
equipment for WLL deployments throughout the United States.
Hybrid and Spike products were selected as the most suitable for the
proposed application. Their choice followed completion of an
extensive investigation by AMX in consultation with Network Design
and Construction, a wholly owned subsidiary of Telstra. A total of
thirteen suppliers were identified and investigated during the review
period with detailed analysis completed on all products.
Both suppliers` equipment complies with the current ACA apparatus
license conditions and is capable of operating in other frequency
spectrum and conditions.
AMX anticipates that the initial network installation will be
operational by mid July in accordance with the deployment schedule.
Final site selection is at an advanced stage with radio frequency
planning underway. The location for initial deployment will be chosen
based on ease of access and close proximity to a large customer base.
AMX expects that following completion of the system trials, selection
of a lead equipment supplier will be determined. The Company also
expects that the network will become the first commercial Australian
deployment of broadband WLL for regional and metropolitan use.
Revenues from commercial operation are expected to be generated from
October 2000 onwards from two services.
* High speed business data network services from 64kb/second to
2Mb/second.
* Residential broadband internet services of up to
2Mb/second.
OBJECTIVES OF THE TRIAL INCLUDE:
RADIO FREQUENCY
* Conformance with current apparatus license conditions of frequency,
channel allocation and propagation.
* Ability to adapt - quickly, inexpensively to new, different
frequency allocation, reparation and chanel widths.
* Validate conformance to vendor stated performance specifications of
radiated power, propagation and emission.
DATE PERFORMANCE
* Effective data throughput per node, Customer Premise Equipment
(CPE), data type (voice, video and quality of service control).
* Distance, terrain, weather/atmospherics, line of sight and near
line of sight performance, latency between CPE to node router, CPE
to end host.
INSTALLATION PROCESSES
* Service activation process, provisioning - transmitter site
equipment, provisioning - customer premises equipment.
AMX anticipates equipment installation will be completed within two
days of site mobilisation with on line customers connected during
installation. The trial period will be for approximately 8 - 10 weeks
during which time system management will be tested in readiness for
supporting full commercialisation of the network.
AMX is committed to the delivery of the first national WLL broadband
service to Australia and expects rapid expansion of those services
throughout the country and internationally.
