Hallo Aderianer,

Adera expands by acquiring GCI Interactive
Adera AB (publ.) has acquired GCI Interactive AB in Sweden, the
Internet Company that was former partly owned by Swedish PR-consultancy GCI
Rinfogruppen.
- By acquiring GCI Interactive in Sweden, a focused web agency, with a
strong competence in areas such as editorial on-line communication,
international client management, business development and technical
solutions, we will strengthen our presence in Stockholm and get a number of
very interesting new business opportunities, says Aderas President, Rolf
Jansson.
GCI Interactive in Sweden started in 1996 and has of today 30 people with
clients within healthcare, IR, B2B- and consumer markets.
- The acquisition of GCI Interactive means that we can offer our clients PR
on the net, integrated with our other core competences. Further more, we
will strengthen our position on the important e-business market in Sweden,
where we today have around 250 employees, says Henrik Martin, MD for Adera
Sverige.
Adera will integrate all staff and business in Aderas Stockholm-operation
under its own name. The company will continue to work close to GCI Rinfo on
shared clients.
Thanks to the cooperation, GCI Interactive`s clients will now get access to
a broader range of Internet offerings while keeping the close cooperation
between their interactive- and PR-consultants.
-GCI Rinfo has developed a strong practices in a number of areas, including
PR for clients within IT, new technologies, healthcare, consumer and
services. The selling of GCI Interactive gives us stronger resources to
expand our PR-business within these and other areas, says GCI Rinfo`s
managing director Henry Rawet.
Joining Adera, who was recently elected the best Internet agency in Sweden,
opens up a lot of new possibilities for our consultants as well as clients,
says Karin Ekman, managing director of GCI Interactive.
The transaction does not in any way affect GCI Rinfo and GCI Gothenburg, who
continue to be part of Grey`s global PR network GCI. It does neither i
anyway affect Grey`s other interactive ventures in Sweden or globally.
Adera AB (publ.) is Europe`s first E-agency. We create commercial benefits
for our clients by bringing together in our organisation skills which are
crucial for being able to compete successfully in the new business world:
strategic/commercial development, marketing/communications and IT/internet
skills. Adera currently has 360 employees
and offices in Gothenburg, Stockholm, Ljungby, Copenhagen, Oslo, London,
Antwerp, Munich and Dallas. Its shares have been listed on the Stockholm

Adera named as Sweden`s best Web consultancy
When the customers are given the chance to choose their favourite Swedish
web consultancy, Adera ends up in first place. This result is from a survey
conducted by the magazine Vision amongst 277 of Sweden`s largest buyers
of web services.
The investigation "Customer`s choice 2000" was conducted by Vision (Sweden`s
leading business
magazine for the new economy) in collaboration with the swedish association
of advertising,
Annonsorforeningen. 277 Swedish web services buyers were given the chance
to assess
web consultancies based on the criteria of creativity, strategic competence
and customer attitude.
The result was published today in Vision.
"Our vision is to be Europe`s leading e-agency in terms of customer
satisfaction. This investigation
has confirmed that we are well on our way. We are now the customers`
favourite in Sweden.
Next step is to conquer Europe," says Adera`s CEO and President Rolf
Jansson.
The Swedish communications and marketing directors` ranking of Swedish web
consultancies,
according to the magazine Vision, is as follows:
1. Adera
2. Razorfish
3. Icon Medialab
4. Cell Network
5. Framfab
6. WM-data
Vision writes: "Adera has made a big impression on communications and
marketing directors,
who give the agency credit for a clearly positive trend. A lot of them are
also following Adera with
some interest for possible collaboration".

Adera`s vision won out
Combining the communications know-how of the advertising agency
with the ambitions of the web agency
Article in Vision, 01-26-2000
Journalist:Jonas Jonsson (jonas.jonsson@vision-media.se)
Adera is the advertising agency which saw early on that the world was
changing.
In 1999 it became Sweden`s first e-agency.
Nowadays a lot of traditional advertising agencies are trying to establish
in the world
of the Internet.
"Far too late" says Adera`s CEO and President, Rolf Jansson, who believes
that
IT consultancies in a strong financial position are now acquiring the
advertising
agencies.
Adera is the web consultancy which came out on top in the customer survey
conducted by the
Advertising Association and by Vision. The agency has succeeded in changing
its profile from
that of a traditional advertising agency, and it has created for itself an
image as a successful
competitor to the more widely written-about web consultancies such as
Framfab, Razorfish
and Icon Medialab.
This journey began as early as 1993 when Adera decided, for reasons of
economy, to
concentrate on working with databases and digital media instead of
traditional advertising
campaigns.
When the development of the Internet really started to pick up in 1995,
Adera`s management
was prepared.
"A lot of advertising agencies will have trouble backtracking in order to do
what we did",
says Rolf Jansson, CEO and President at Adera.
Neither does he believe that it is the advertising agencies who will be
buying more
out-and-out web consultancies.
"If you look at how the Internet consultancies are valued, it should be the
other way around.
We even get offers to acquire advertising agencies."
Today 25 percent of Adera`s employees are communicators, 50 percent are
technicians
and 25 percent are management consultants. The reason for this is simple.
"Companies with that structure are in great demand in the market. Right now
the advertising
agencies have a long way to go. A lot of them still see the Internet as just
one of many
communications media. This is a far too limited approach since the Internet
is so much more.
On the other hand web agencies lack communications skills."
Has the change in profile from advertising agency to web consultancy been a
complicated one?
"We have worked on integrating technical and creative staff. This is
necessary because the
advertising side of things has no idea at all about IT projects. But the
Internet consultants
still have a lot to do".

Epani has developed the OnTee time booking service and is a partner in successful national golfing web companies in five countries with svenska golf.se as the most well—known. The concept has been launched in 5 European countries in co-operation with the countries’ national golf federations and local telecommunication companies. solutions.
Adera`s previous CEO, Rolf Jansson who was also the founder of the company,
will remain as a member of the company`s Board of Directors. In addition, he

which has included the creation of "Industry Centers" which have

Europe and to substantially increase Adera`s market recognition. With our

are in place to enable us to do what is necessary to improve profitability
and carry out our expansion plans" says Jörgen Ericsson.
Adera`s Board of Directors has appointed Jörgen Ericsson as the company`s
new corporate CEO and President. He will assume this position today, March
1st 2000. With Jörgen Ericsson as CEO, Adera will develop into Europe`s
leading quality supplier of complete e-business solutions i.e. the
integration of business strategies, market positioning and advanced IT
solutions.
Adera`s previous CEO, Rolf Jansson who was also the founder of the company,
will remain as a member of the company`s Board of Directors. In addition, he
will become the working Chairman of the Board of the newly established Adera
Venture Zone which will focus on supporting entrepreneurs in the
establishment and development of competitive e-business companies.
Jörgen Ericsson began at Adera as Deputy CEO in February of last year and
has since established the company`s strategy/business development unit.
Adera has also undergone a major reorganisation under Jörgen`s leadership
which has included the creation of "Industry Centers" which have
strengthened Adera`s expertise in key business areas. In addition, "Centers
of Excellence" have been created which will enable Adera to develop leading
concepts and methodology in order to assist customers to adapt to the new
business logic.
"Adera was the second Internet related consultancy company on the Stockholm
Stock Exchange. Much due to Rolf Jansson`s determined efforts. Now, new
types of skills are needed which can develop Adera towards a leading quality
position in Europe. Jörgen Ericsson has shown considerable drive during the
reorganisation and reprofiling undertaken by the company and he also
possesses the profile and background Adera needs in order to succeed" says
Adera`s Chairman Leif Nobel.
In Jörgen Ericsson, Adera will have a CEO with deep experience of
management issues and e-business on an international level. Jörgen Ericsson
has carried out several extensive projects within e-business strategy and
has established a wide international network. Before Jörgen became Adera`s
Deputy CEO he worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company for
six years. The last three years of which he was responsible for McKinsey`s
e-business initiatives in Scandinavia.
Jörgen Ericsson has already formed a new, strong management team that will
secure company expansion in Sweden and in the rest of Europe generally.
"We will now speed up significantly. We have established a number of
priority areas. We will intend to secure the continued development of our
offices in Sweden, to establish a stronger position on the key markets in
Europe and to substantially increase Adera`s market recognition. With our
new organisation and a strengthened management team, all the preconditions
are in place to enable us to do what is necessary to improve profitability
and carry out our expansion plans" says Jörgen Ericsson.
Adera Business Solutions strengthens digital imaging operations
Adera Business Solutions, a subsidiary of Adera AB, has taken over Elpical
Software
- a company operating within the digital image processing and content
management field.
Adera Business Solutions has thereby gained valuable products and expertise
within
image processing and image management. In addition, access to an established
distribution
channel in Europe has been aquired
In March 1997, Viktor Hasselblad AB sold the digital imaging part of its
operations, Hasselblad Electronic
Imaging, to the Dutch company Elpical Software BV. Consequently a core group
of develpers from
Hasselblad Electronic Imaging joined the new company. Since then, Elpical
has established a well
functioning marketing organisation in Benelux and Germany.
Now Adera Business Solutions is taking over the Swedish operations.
"The takeover means that we are supplying the necessary platform Elpical
Software needs in order to
strengthen its development activities, thereby increasing capacity and
gaining improved economics
of scale. We also gain access to around 40 customers in the Nordic countries
and the rest of Europe
- customers currently using Elpical´s products. They are potential customers
for new versions of these
products but also - which is perhaps more interesting - for our current
products including IMpress,
SiteManager and Autopublishing" says Adera Business Solutions` MD, Urban
Jönér.
Elpical Software´s existing customers include the Bonnier Group (Sydsvenska
Dagbladet, Pressens Bild),
the Norweigian newspaper Bergens Tidende, Dutch De Telegraaf and VND,
Belgian Belga and
Laatste Nieuws, German Abendzeitung, Thüringer Allgemeine and Ostthüringer
Zeitung, French
Le Midi Libre and L ´Indépendant, plus the Turkish publications Hurriyet and
Milliyet.
"This solution is extremely positive both for Elpical and Adera Business
Solutions. Each company can
now focus on what it does best, thereby achieving more than if we were
working separately" says
Robert Vroom, CEO of Elpical Software. In addition to the take-over of the
operations, Adera Business
Solutions is aquring the industrial and intellectual rights to the products
ImageDepot, Image Production
Server, Image Agenda and Spector Repro Server. These products are widely
spread in Europe and
use the same technical platform as Adera Business Solutions works with.
"I am convinced that Spector Repro Server, which is a solution for digital
image processing, will
prove to be a considerable success in the future. The market has not yet
fully realised that Internet
also requires high quality images. With Spector all images are automatically
processed to produce
the highest quality with regards to resolution, sharpness and colour" says
Urban Jönér.
"This takeover will exert a considerable effect on Adera Business Solutions`
operations. Elpical
Software´s personnel possess leading edge competence within the area of
image processing/management.
Their expertise and experience are extremely valuable for the future
development of our products. In addition,
Elpical Software´s procucts form an extremely advantageous complement to
Adera Business Solutions`
product range. In the future we will be able to offer total solutions within
autopublishing to every type of
customer" concludes Urban Jönér.
