CD-R duplication has taken the media manufacturing industry by storm over the last two years. Plummeting CD-R media prices and advances in automated, high-speed recording have made it advantageous to use CD-R duplication instead of traditional replication for runs of 1,000 discs or less. But the growth of CD-R duplication has also brought to light other issues, such as anti-piracy and the quality of duplicated CD-Rs. This panel discussion, including executives from both CD-R duplication equipment companies and service providers, will address the state of the CD-R duplication business, including the impending growth of DVD-R duplication.

This session will include an update and review of some of the most successful and cost-effective technologies and materials that are being utilized in CD-R manufacture. Similarly, the challenges and solutions for CD-RW manufacturing will also be explored.

      Speaker: Wlodek Mischke, TREX, B.V.

      Business/Markets Track

      11:00am - 11:45am
Security Issues for High Value Products

Assuring your client, the content owner, that their product is secure while in the manufacturing facility, goes a long way in promoting and protecting your overall business. 11:45am - 12:30pm
Fulfillment and Distribution: Jumping on the E-commerce

Bandwagon While naysayers are predicting the ultimate demise of physical media, opportunistic media manufacturers are teaming with content providers to offer e-commerce capabilities. How do these deals work? What`s the truth behind MP3? And how does "smart" automation fit into the fulfillment and distribution process.

Moderator: Tom O`Reilly, Editor, TapeDisc Business magazine.
Speaker: Bob Freedman, Senior Vice President, Technical Operations, Optical Media, Crest National. Jeff Tarplin, Metatec; Travis Swartz, Now Disc.

      Hi Daak Maak,
