      Hi,

Investment Strategist Byron Wien :
Wien said that although he likes a lot of technology stock, many including JDS Uniphase Corp. (NasdaqNM:JDSU - news), Brocade Communications Systems Inc. (NasdaqNM:BRCD - news) and Intel Corp. (NasdaqNM:INTC - news) are not cheap.

      Hallo Megasolar,

      27.07.2000
      Brocade Comm. Kursziel $230
      Morgan Stanley Dean Witter

Die Analysten von Morgan Stanley Dean Witter erteilen der Aktie der Brocade Communications Systems Inc. (WKN: 922590, BRCD) das Höchstprädikat
      „strong buy“.

      Hi megasolar,

ich glaube Du verwechselst da was.

Storage Networking Leader Reports Record Revenues and Earnings

SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. (Brocade(R)) (Nasdaq: BRCD), the leading provider of Storage Area Networking infrastructure, reported today net revenues for the third quarter of fiscal 2000 (Q3 00) of $92.1 million, a 360 percent increase over the $20.1 million reported for the third quarter of fiscal 1999 (Q3 99), and a 48 percent increase over the $62.1 million reported in the second quarter of fiscal 2000 (Q2 00).

Net income was $20.1 million in Q3 00, a 1,146 percent increase over the $1.6 million reported for the same period in fiscal 1999, and a 51 percent increase over the $13.3 million reported in Q2 00. Diluted net income per share for Q3 00 was $0.16 compared to net income per share of $0.01 in Q3 99 and net income per share of $0.11 in Q2 00.

During Q3 00, Brocade generated $18.1 million in cash. Total cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments at July 29, 2000 were $129.6 million. Accounts receivable days sales outstanding were 52 days at the end of Q3 00. Annualized quarterly return on stockholder`s equity increased to 53.0 percent in Q3 00 from 49.2 percent in Q2 00. Annualized quarterly return on assets increased to 37.5 percent in Q3 00 from 31.8 percent in Q2 00.(1)

Gross margins increased during Q3 00 to 58.6 percent of net revenues from the 58.0 percent reported in Q2 00. Operating income as a percentage of net revenues increased to 26.1 percent in Q3 00 from 25.2 percent of net revenues in Q2 00.

"We are delighted to report our eighth consecutive period of quarter over quarter revenue and earnings growth for our shareholders," said Greg Reyes, Brocade President and Chief Executive Officer. "Data storage requirements continue to increase across the board at a staggering rate. Brocade products provide the networking foundation of choice for storage environments, helping the world`s leading companies keep pace with the exponential growth in storage."

Brocade Fibre Channel fabric switches and software provide a networking foundation for storage area networks (SANs). Using Brocade SilkWorm(R) switches, customers can connect servers with storage devices through a SAN, creating a highly reliable and scalable environment for high-ROI storage applications, such as server and storage consolidation, disaster recovery, data replication, clustering, and storage on demand.

Reyes continued, "As the SAN market continues to evolve at a rapid pace, we are putting in place the foundation to drive each phase of the SAN market`s evolution and ensure that we are well-positioned to capitalize on each incremental market opportunity. With the addition of 17 new systems integrator partners worldwide, and the recent expansion of our existing OEM partnerships with Compaq and HP, we shipped more Fibre Channel switch ports this quarter than all of last year combined."

During the third quarter, Brocade also continued its leadership role in facilitating multi-vendor, standards-based heterogeneous SANs. Brocade launched the Fabric Aware program, a comprehensive testing and certification program for end to end SAN interoperability. More than 30 leading companies have agreed to specify, test, and jointly support SAN configurations that comprise a heterogeneous mix of servers, storage subsystems, Brocade switches, and other SAN technologies. In addition, Brocade has published more than 26 SOLUTIONware(TM) guides, which offer pre-tested configurations for popular SAN solutions such as LAN-free backup, clustering, and disaster tolerance in heterogeneous environments. Brocade also expanded strategic partnerships with leading host bus adapter providers Emulex and JNI, to facilitate seamless interoperability in heterogeneous SAN environments.

In the third quarter, Brocade released significant new features of its intelligent distributed operating system, Fabric OS(TM), which provides a common set of core services for deploying a storage area network. These new features include Fabric Watch(TM) for intelligent real-time monitoring of SAN resources and Extended Fabrics(TM), which extends SAN to SAN native fibre connectivity from 10 to 100 Kilometers. Through an API layer, Brocade is also making critical information contained within the Fabric OS available to its development partners, providing direct access to the value-added management services of Fabric OS.

This quarter, Brocade entered into a multi-phased technology agreement with Cisco, to allow customers to seamlessly inter-network Brocade-based SANS over Cisco IP-based metropolitan and wide area networks. The two companies are jointly developing a Fibre Channel interface for Cisco`s Catalyst 6000 family of products and certifying interoperability between SilkWorm fabric switches and Cisco enterprise DWDM products, which will enable SAN-to-SAN connectivity over high-speed MANs.

"We believe that each phase of the SAN market`s evolution represents a significant incremental opportunity for Brocade and that we are well- positioned to capitalize on this market opportunity. Our significant accomplishments this last quarter demonstrate our commitment to continuing to expand our leadership position as the storage area networking infrastructure of choice for today`s business," concluded Reyes.

      Hier eine Aussage des CEO.

According to Reyes, the company`s market share grew another 7 percent this quarter. "We have 90 percent of the fabric market and 54 percent of the storage area infrastructure networking market."
      WOW!! http://cbs.marketwatch.com/archive/20000816/news/current/brc…

(gerundet)

      20,1=>30,1(50%)=>42,7(40%)=>62,1(45%)=>92,1(48%)=>132,1(43%)

      Hallo,

      heute nur ;) 10% zurück.

Tuesday January 30 12:24 PM ET
Brocade Shares Fall Over 10 Percent

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Shares of network storage equipment maker Brocade Communications Systems Inc. (NasdaqNM:BRCD - news) fell more than 10 percent in midday Tuesday trade, after a Goldman Sachs analyst made cautionary statements on the stock in a morning call.

Goldman Sachs analyst Laura Conigliaro said the company was not likely to deliver the same upside surprises seen in the past, a Goldman spokesman confirmed to Reuters.

Brocade`s stock lost more than 10 percent to an intraday low of $94, before recovering a bit to trade at $94-5/8, down $10-3/16. Brocade was among the Nasdaq`s most active stocks.

Analysts and traders noted there was no other news in the market, and several block trades were executed shortly after the Goldman call.

Conigliaro made positive comments on Brocade, but said its stock price had reached high levels and noted a potentially slowing growth rate, the spokesman said.

Brocade makes equipment designed to improve data storage in computer systems and fiber channel switches.

Monday February 12, 3:27 pm Eastern Time
U.S. Options-QLogic vols up as stock drops
CHICAGO, Feb 12 (Reuters) - Implied volatility in options of QLogic Corp. (NasdaqNM:QLGC - news), a maker of storage area network infrastructure equipment, was high on Monday as the stock dropped sharply after its rival Emulex Corp. (NasdaqNM:EMLX - news) softened its outlook.

Late Friday afternoon, high-speed data-storage network equipment maker Emulex said some customers were deferring orders and, should those deferrals continue to mount, it would not meet Wall Street`s revenue and earnings forecasts for its fiscal third quarter.

The sell-off in Emulex spilled over to its rivals as shares of QLogic Corp. and Brocade Communications Systems Inc. (NasdaqNM:BRCD - news) joined Emulex near the top of Nasdaq`s net losers list. EMC Corp. (NYSE:EMC - news), the No. 1 data storage company, was off $3.94 to $52.46 on the New York Stock Exchange.

Early Monday afternoon, QLogic shares skidded $16-1/4 to $52-1/8 after reaching a low of $45-1/2.

Options traders added new strikes in the deferred options contracts because of Monday`s drop in the underlying stock price.

``We had to add 45, 50 and 55 strikes in everything but February because it is expiration week,`` said a market maker with Wolverine on the Chicago Board Options Exchange.

February options go off the board on Friday.

The trader noted the implied volatility for the March 55 series stood at 135 percent, up about 15 percentage points, a line equivalent to the March 60 strikes before the drop in the stock.

Options activity was varied as some market participants rolled from their February positions into March.

The trader also noted the March 55 line ``was probably the most active series`` with customers buying both calls and puts.

The call buying was partly fueled by speculation the stock may rebound from the 55 level, the trader said. ``At the same time, you have people who are short calls and are buying back in.``

Options volume picked up as about 7,593 calls and 3,595 puts changed hands combined on Monday across the four U.S. options exchanges, according to Track Data.

Track Data`s total option tally for Friday reached 4,110 contracts versus 3,743 contracts on Thursday.

Brocade Dragged Down With Other Storage Names

      -
Brocade Communications (BRCD:Nasdaq - news) was hit hard in today`s trading session, as investors punished data storage companies following news of a slowdown at Emulex (EMLX:Nasdaq - news) and a downgrade of QLogic (QLGC:Nasdaq - news).

Shares of Brocade dropped $12.88, or 17.3%, to $61.44 in recent Nasdaq trading. J.P. Morgan Chase slashed its target price for Brocade to $85 from $125, citing decelerating top and bottom lines. The firm said in a report that the quarter looks fair, but added that it expects "guidance and comments on visibility to be less bullish than previous quarters."

      Jau,

das ging ja leider nochmals richtig abwärts. :(

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- Brocade is out investing its closest competitor in research and development by 100 percent, CEO Greg Reyes said Wednesday.
The San Jose, Calif.-based company, which makes fiber channel switches and related software for storage area networks, competes with, among others, Emulex and QLogic.

Speaking at the Robertson Stephens Tech 2001 conference in San Francisco, Reyes also said Brocade has a 90 percent market share in fiber channel fabric switches and 60 percent market share in the SAN architecture sector.

He also pointed out that Brocade (BRCD: news, msgs) shipped 750,000 ports in the last 12 months.

Robbie Stephens Conference: Brocade Sees Big Opportunities, but Offers Little of What Investors Want
      By Dan Colarusso
      Associate Editor
      2/14/01 1:27 PM ET

SAN FRANCISCO -- After seeing his company`s stock banged around for a couple of days, Brocade (BRCD:Nasdaq - news) Chief Financial Officer Michael Byrd spent most of his presentation at the Roberson Stephens Technology 2001 Conference here Wednesday highlighting the joys of storage-area networks.

      Related Stories

Goldman Conference: Brocade Does Little to Reassure Investors
Emulex Will Have to Wait for New Orders From EMC

Addressing a crowd of investors that couldn`t be fully contained by one of the larger ballrooms at the Palace Hotel, Byrd said Brocade sees tremendous growth opportunities in the storage-area network business, especially after cementing a pact with Cisco (CSCO:Nasdaq - news) to develop inter-network storage-area networks. Brocade makes fibre-channel switches that connect storage-area networks to one another.

Still, at a breakout session after the company`s presentation, investors prodded Byrd on the company`s health. The stock was hit after Emulex (EMLX:Nasdaq - news) disclosed Friday that some customers were pushing back orders.

But Brocade said little more than it did Tuesday at the Goldman Sachs Technology Investment Symposium. "The concerns are about economic conditions, not the competition," Byrd said. He added that the company was going to make "massive" investments in sales efforts and technology. And he said rumors last week of Brocade product delays were false.

Brocade says computer data business strong
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Brocade Communications Systems Inc.(NasdaqNM:BRCD - news), which makes switches that tie together computer data storage networks, is doing good business despite its own concerns about the economy, the chief executive said on Wednesday.

``The Brocade funnel has never been fuller, but I think there is cause for concern based on conflicting data points in the market place,`` CEO Greg Reyes told investors at a conference.

``We didn`t lose a single piece of business last quarter, so I think we are going to continue to gain market share, as we have in the past ... (but) I think there is room for caution in this economy.``

Major firms were building storage area networks, or SANs, and using Brocade switches to do so, as storage management moved to the top of information technology department budgets over the last six months, Reyes said.

``We saw SAN projects move to mainstream projects as part of the overall IT budget.``

Shares of Brocade were hit with those of other storage equipment makers after Emulex Corp. (NasdaqNM:EMLX - news), which makes hubs that are also part of storage area network infrastructure, said last week that some customers had delayed back orders and that more such delays would lead Emulex to miss earnings and revenue targets.

``I would put that in the category of a conflicting data point we are trying to get our arms around,`` Reyes said.

Brocade will introduce new products with administrative and security features in the fall, which will ``massively raise the bar, not just on switching front,`` Reyes told the conference, hosted by Robertson Stephens investment bank.

WEEK AHEAD: Brocade, Intuit earnings on deck

      By Larry Barrett ZDII

After enduring a stream of disappointing earnings from bellwethers, technology investors are looking forward to better news from a handful of smaller companies such as Brocade, Intuit and Autodesk next week.

For the week, the Dow Jones industrial average managed to gain 18 points to 10,799.01, while the Nasdaq composite shed 45 points to finish at 2,425.05.

Stocks gained ground initially following Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan`s testimony before a Senate Banking Committee. While Greenspan reiterated his concerns about the slowing economy, he said the U.S. economy wasn`t in a recession--at least not yet.

"Some people were disappointed that Greenspan did cite some signs of strength in the economy," said Ned Riley, chief investment strategist at State Street Global Advisors. "They saw it as an indication that maybe we aren`t on a path to recession and that monetary policy might be applied more gradually than some had factored into the price of stocks."

Investors will also be paying close attention to the developments in Iraq over the three-day weekend after U.S. warplanes bombed five Iraqi military sites in what President Bush called a "routine mission" to protect American and British patrol aircraft enforcing the "no-fly zone" over Southern Iraq.

Back in March 1999 when the United States commenced bombing missions in Bosnia, the stock market had little reaction to the uncertainty overseas.

Plenty of investors had to run for cover this week after several blue-chip tech firms dropped some of their own bombs.

Following a disastrous profit warning from Nortel Networks (NYSE: NT) and disappointing earnings and guidance from Dell Computer (Nasdaq: DELL) and Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HWP), tech investors can only hope next week`s batch will turn the tide.

      Brocade Communications (Nasdaq: BRCD)
Analysts are expecting a profit of 12 cents a share in its fourth quarter on sales of $162.2 million.

Wit SoundView analyst Glen Ingalls named Brocade as his best short-term pick last week when the stock was trading at $74 a whack. Trading around $54 a share, the stock`s been pounded in recent weeks, plunging from a high of $123 a share back in October.

Last quarter, Brocade raked in $27.2 million, or 22 cents a share, on sales of $132.1 million. It also set a 2-for-1 stock split.

Brocade is forecast to earn 62 cents a share in the fiscal year on sales of $829.8 million.

"The SAN market still has a long way to grow," Ingalls said last week. "Brocade`s the best-positioned company in this group and is growing at an astronomical rate. It holds a dominant share position and is actually setting prices in this market."

Brocade Announces Preliminary Q2 01 Financial Results

SAN JOSE, Calif.—April 20, 2001—Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. (Brocade®) (Nasdaq: BRCD) announced today preliminary results for the second quarter of fiscal 2001. Brocade expects to report total net revenue for the second quarter of fiscal 2001 (Q2 01) that will be approximately 30 percent less than the net revenue reported in the first quarter of fiscal 2001 (Q1 01). Diluted net income per share for Q2 01 is expected to be in the range of $0.05-$0.06 per share. During the second quarter, Brocade expects that gross margins will remain in the 60 percent range and will continue at those levels for the next several quarters. Additionally, Brocade expects that DSOs will be within the target range of 50 to 60 days.

“We are sober about the affect that the economy has had on the enterprise technology marketplace and on our short-term business outlook. We are committed to doing what is right for the business and will continue to invest in engineering resources and quota-carrying sales personnel at a rate that will continue to outpace our competitors. We believe that our long-term prospects and competitive position in delivering the world’s leading intelligent platform for networking storage have never been stronger. As enterprise capital spending continues to thaw, we are well positioned for growth in the latter part of fiscal 2001 and we expect our year-over-year revenue growth will be approximately 58 percent,” said Greg Reyes, Brocade President and CEO.

P.S. BRCD bleibt trotzdem mein LT-Favorit
