According to the NSW Chamber of Commerce, businesses that want to
maintain productivity during the Games in September should invest in
television sets for their offices now. "My advice to businesses is to
push the Olympics onto the desktop of all your staff - they`ll thank
you for it by turning up to work," responded Spence. "No matter how
many staff in a company, it can be delivered to everyone via PCs
through the entire 17 days".

In March, Access1 announced a strategic content alliance with Seven
Network Pay Television service C7, to deliver the C7 pay TV coverage
direct to PCs of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and on an ongoing
basis carry C7`s sports programming. Access1 has exclusive delivery
of the Olympics over its satellite-based IP technology delivery
platform, which provides broadband delivery of multimedia services
including high speed Internet and full-screen TV quality channels
directly to PCs across Australia. C7 is a cornerstone of Accessl`s

habe mir auch ein paar Stück für 0,74 ins Depot gelegt, da ich
von der Technologie überzeugt bin. Stellt Euch vor, Ihr sitzt mit Eurer
Intelligenz in der Australischen Pampa und könntet nicht im Internet
surfen und müßtet ca.10 Jahre auf die Verkabelung warten.
Die Frage ist nur, ob in der Pampa genügend Intelligenz vorhanden ist?
Die Olympic Games wird das Unternehmen wahrscheinlich so stark bekannt
machen, daß wir die jetzigen Kurse noch noch von oben betrachten können.
Die Frage ist auch hier: Wie hoch sind die Installationskosten für die
Bereitstellung und wann haben Sie sich amortisiert?

Access1 to Provide Content to Telstra`s Internet Service

Sydney, July 27 (Bloomberg) -- Access1 Ltd., an Australian company that`s broadcasting the Sydney Olympic Games to personal computers, said it has teamed with Telstra Corp. to provide television content to Australia`s No.1 Internet service provider.

Terms weren`t disclosed. The Perth-based company, in which Australia`s No. 2 ranked commercial TV network Seven Network Ltd. has a 5 percent stake, said it will provide content from their broadband channel AccessTV to Telstra`s Big Pond high-speed Internet service.

``Not only are we delivering `TV-like` channels of content -- we are creating a new market for the delivery of full-motion interactive advertising, where advertising can be served to individual users or demographics,`` said Access1 Chairman David Spence in a statement. Its shares surged 8 cents, or 9 percent, to 95 Australian cents.

Melbourne-based Telstra`s Big Pond service is the nation`s biggest Internet access provider with about 650,000 customers, increasing at 10,000 per week. Last week, Telstra said it has almost 40,000 Big Pond users on its high-speed networks. It already has content agreements with more than 300.

Access1 provides Internet connection using satellite, microwave and fixed-line technology, that allows it to broadcast television channels on personal computers. It currently shows C7, the sports pay-TV unit of Seven Network, and will show three of its channels during the Sydney Olympics in September.

Telstra rose 5 cents to A$7.27. Seven fell 12 cents to A$7.03.

Access1`s Golden Transformation

Access1 [X.ACC] will equip connected subscribers with live broadcasts of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games via their home or office PCs.
AccessTV will feature two channels of uninterrupted coverage of the 2000 Games for the entirety of the competition.
Individuals who don`t have access to a television throughout the Games can thus log onto their PCs - hopefully quashing work-related down-time.
It`s feasible for the company to transmit the competition thanks to the establishment of a strategic content alliance between Access1 and the Seven Network`s [X.SEV] C7 subsidiary.
The alliance between the two companies was formalised last March when Access1 placed 5 million shares and 2 million options (exercisable at 75 cents each and escrowed for a period of 24 months), to the Seven Network`s pay television operation.
C7, an amalgamation of Seven Network`s online and internet business i7, retains broadcasting rights for the forthcoming games.
The company`s alignment exempts Access1 from the International Olympic Committee`s decision to ban international web sites from showing live video and audio transmissions of the 2000 Games.
Although the vision will cease operation following the Olympic closing ceremony, Access1 subscribers will be able to continue viewing two separate channels dedicated to sport.
AccessTV will also deliver a 24-hour financial news channel. Last June, Access1 cemented a long-term agreement to carry content from Bloomberg Television Asia Pacific.
At the launch, Access1`s Chairman Mr David Spence said "Bloomberg is the first in a suite of services targeted for business and investors from Access1... with 53% of Australians now owning shares, we want to enable everyone to keep in touch with the local and global market."
Training and seminar, educational, and music video channels are in the process of being designed by the company as well. Undoubtedly the development of these channels will result in Access1 establishing content partnerships with corporations other than Bloomberg and C7.
Access1 uses satellite-based IP technology to provide broadband delivery of services including full-screen TV quality channels and high speed Internet services.
Accessibility to the offerings for home subscribers requires the installation of a small rooftop satellite dish and a decoder box. A satellite dish and a small network router are needed for users at work.
As a result of an umbrella content distribution agreement between Access1 and Telstra [X.TLS] Big Pond, approximately 40,000 Big Pond Advance users will also have the ability to retrieve Access1`s cumulative broadband content via their networks. Access1`s content under that arrangement will be obtainable via Telstra`s new DSL technology.
Mr Spence said "this agreement is the first step in a strategy to deliver the range of Access1`s multimedia services across all networks regardless of the technology employed, as well as on the Access1 satellite network currently being rolled out nationally."
Once known as Kilkenny Gold, Access1 previously emphasised its core business remained as gold mining and exploration. The company`s focus changed however late last year with the spin-off its gold assets into Phoenix Mining [X.PHX]. The execution raised an additional A$3.25 million for Access1.
According to Access1`s Managing Director Mr Tony Brennan, the transfer of gold assets to Phoenix Mining illustrated the company`s long-term strategy to deliver a broadband portal, along with high-speed Internet services encompassing content.
"By spinning off the gold assets we have provided an additional injection of funds, taking our cash holdings to over $10.5 million" said Brennan. "For Access1 investors, we have provided an additional opportunity in what may be the only underwritten gold float this year."
The separately listed Phoenix Mining commenced trading on May 26, 2000. The company raised $4 million by offering 20 million shares (with a free option attached) exclusively to Access1 shareholders.
At the time of writing Access1 shares were trading around 77 cents - mid-range between the stock`s 52-week low (38.5 cents) and 52-week high ($1.91). Phoenix Mining shares are trading in a range similar to when they listed - between 17c and 18c.

Davnet Telecommunications Ltd (DVT) today announced it has entered into an agreement with Access1 Ltd (ACC) whereby, ACC would provide content such as AccessTV and Netcourier to its customers.

AccessTV is Access1`s broadband content service that delivers TV-like channels direct to PCs and currently includes 2 channels of the Sydney 2000 Olympic games, Bloomberg Television and C7. NetCourier is the distribution of large files that contain pictures or video that until now have required physical distribution via CD, disk or print.

The company said revenue generated from delivery of the services would be shared with Access1. ACC recently announced a similar agreement with Telstra.

DVT closed 1 cent stronger at $1 whilst ACC jumped 10 cents to 80 cents.

Es vergeht fast kein Tag, an dem nicht über ACC berichtet wird.

mal wieder ACC News:
Die Musikdownloadgeschichte finde ich sehr interessant (auch wegen der
Downloadgeschwindigkeit per Satellit), die Idee allerdings,
ein paar Outbackaussies per Satellit an ACC zu binden - ich weiss nicht.
Die Masse machts, denke ich mir, und die Outbackmasse ist weiss Gott
klein. Wird wohl auch eine Frage des Preises sein.
Kurz und gut, ich bin teils begeistert, teils eher skeptisch... schaumerma !

establish a subscription music download business.

"We are implementing a service to stop the Napsterisation of the
music business," said IAM CEO Chris Gilbey. "We intend to offer
artists and record companies a new method of promoting their music,
distributing samples to interested users and providing the ability to
buy and receive that music instantly."

"The challenge today is to deliver a more personal service than
radio, to more people, regardless of their location, and to enable
them to purchase what they want instantly," said ChaosMusic CEO Rob
Appel. "It is our intention to do so."

The proposed business will provide a weekly subscription based
download facility of music tailored to the interests of the user,
offering sample downloads of releases from around the world,
including music, audio-visual and book extracts. The business will

Access1 today also announced that the BigFatRadio service would be
distributed on the Access1 broadband satellite network. BigFatRadio
will be available free of charge to those receiving AccessTV content,
potentially including Telstra`s 40,000 broadband customers and
Davnet`s corporate customer base. AccessTV customers will receive the
same programming as narrow band audiences but with the added benefit
of receiving CD quality stereo audio and full motion video -
something that is not possible with a dial up ISP connection.

Chris Gilbey, Co CEO of InterActive Media Network Pty Limited (IAM)
said "the distribution agreement with Access 1 means we can now
provide subscribers with CD quality music via the web - we`ve just
moved the web from AM technology to FM technology. BigFatRadio
features Big music, Big names and Big websites - and all that
requires Bandwidth," said Mr Gilbey in announcing the deal.

Mr David Spence, Executive Chairman of Access1, said this agreement
adds a new dimension to the content already aggregated by Access1.
"With C7 Sport, the Olympics and Bloomberg Television we are
providing the type of content long promised by the Internet, in
TV-like quality. Now BigFatRadio brings to our PC sounds in CD-like
quality,` said Mr Spence. "The web will never sound the same again."

The web tours are provided to the Access 1 audience in a multicast
format with a fully interactive unicast option for the audience to
interact with any web site that is featured while still listening to
the audio stream. The audience can rejoin the live tour at any time
by clicking on the streamcast button within the player. The audience
can undertake other activities on their PC`s while running
BigFatRadio in the background. The key result for audiences is that
they will receive the best in web entertainment without burning
bandwidth.

Napster ist die Company, die grade ein Riesenverfahren wegen
Copyrightverletzungen am Hals hat und ihre Seite dichtmachen
mussten. Die haben MP3 files zum download angeboten,
und da ist die gesammelte US Plattenindustrie Sturm gekaufen.
