Die Ausgaben für das Glasfasernetz sind gewaltig. 75000 Euro pro Kilometer. Aber die Nachfrage
im Glasfasernetz wird stetig ansteigen. Über die stärkste Leitung können heute schon 225 Spielfilme
innerhalb einer Sekunde heruntergeladen werden. Schnelligkeit im Internet ist das Wichtigste und
KPNQwest liegt hierbei ganz vorne. Kpnqwest ist von der Marktbereinigung voll erwischt worden,
zu Unrecht. Die hohen Kosten werden bereits wieder eingespielt. Kpnqwest ist zur Expansion verpflichtet
und dies wird sich früher oder später auszahlen.Das Internet wird an Kpnqwest nicht vorbeikommen.
Aber die Kursziele der Analysten sind unrealistisch. 80 oder mehr. Realistisches Ziel: 45 - 50 Euro.

NEW YORK, Oct 24 (Reuters) - Dutch telecommunications company KPN Telecom NV KPN has no plans to sell its stake in KPNQwest NV KQIP, its European joint venture with Qwest Communications International Inc. Q, Qwest said Tuesday.

"KPN has told me they are strongly supporting KPNQwest," Qwest Chairman Joe Nacchio said in a conference call with analysts following the release of Qwest`s third-quarter results.

"The question has been, would they (KPN) monetize their stake because of their enormous financing needs, given their purported strategy to be a pan-European wireless player. And they have told me `no` directly," Nacchio said.

Qwest recently met with KPN and asked about its future plans for the data communications joint venture. Nacchio said Qwest could have helped KPN "figure out who to place some of those (KPNQwest) shares with if (they) want to do a private sale."

KPN, however, said it had no plans to sell its stake since the venture is a "key part of their strategy," Nacchio said.

"They`re staying in KPNQwest," he added.

Earlier on Tuesday, KPNQwest posted wider third-quarter losses but beat analysts` forecasts. It also forecast that it would break even a year earlier than expected due to a shift in strategy and booming demand in Internet Protocol (IP) data and hosting services.

Angeblich kauft Hewlett Packard IP/ATM-Services in Wert von zunächst 28 Millionen Euro bei KPNQwest ein. Eine Ausweitung der Geschäftsbeziehungen sei innerhalb des 3-jahres Kontraktes zu erwarten.

KPNQwest wächst damit immer mehr in die Rolle des europäischen Internet-Business-Enablers im B2B-Segment.
Das "Ausrollen" des KPNQwest-eigenen Glasfaser-Backbone (die sog. Euroringe) läuft nach Zeitplan. Der Euroring 3, der German Ring, ist seit Sommer diesen Jahres in Betrieb.
Ein weiteres Highlight bei KPNQwest sind die sog. Mega-Cybre-Center. Es handelt sich um Rechenzentren der modernsten Generation (ca. 12.000 - 17.000 Quadratmeter), die für B2B-Kunden eine Plattform für Hosting, ASP u. z.B. Streaming bieten. Das Cybre-Center in München wurde im Sommer eröffnet. Im Q1 2001 folgt ein noch größeres in Frankfurt a.M. Insgesamt entstehen 16 dieser Center in ganz Europa. Lt. unabhängigen Marktstudien ist der Bedarf nach diesen Einrichtungen enorm u. lt. KPNQwest sind die bestehenden Mega-Cybre-Center bereits mehrfach überbucht.

KPNQwest hat aus meiner Sicht die finanziellen Mittel, die Infrastruktur, Know-How u. mittlerweile auch die nötigen Kunden, um ein europäischer Big-Player im Markt zu sein.
