Kennt jemand Commscope?

Hickory, North Carolina, Aug. 14 (Bloomberg) -- CommScope Inc., a maker of fiber-optic and other communication cables, said third-quarter earnings likely will miss estimates because sales have been weaker than expected.
The company, based in Hickory, North Carolina, expects to earn 38 cents to 43 cents a share, less than the 45-cent average estimate of four analysts polled by First Call/Thomson Financial.

CommScope blamed ``difficult`` pricing patterns and lower- than-expected sales of Local Area Network and wireless and other telecommunications products. Together, those products account for about 25 percent of the company`s business.
CommScope shares fell 2 9/16 to 25 7/16 on Friday. They have declined 37 percent this year

Shares of CommScope fell 2 9/16, or 10 percent, to 22 7/8 in early trading. They have fallen about 43 percent this year.
On Wednesday, CommScope shares fell 20 percent as Josephthal & Co. analyst Lawrence M. Harris said he is ``more cautious`` about the cable maker`s third-quarter earnings. He cited falling industry prices, tight supplies, slow progress in developing products and insufficient manufacturing capacity. Today, he cut his rating on the stock to ``hold`` from ``buy.``
The company, however, said demand for its cable-television and video products remains strong and that it still expects to achieve revenue growth of 20 percent to 25 percent in the second half of 2000. These products provide the remaining three-quarters of CommScope`s revenue.
CommScope said its ability to meet the demand for cable TV products will be helped by a new supply agreement for bimetal center conductors, which are used to make coaxial cables. By mid- 2001, CommScope said it plans to have manufacturing capacity of $1 billion for hybrid-fiber coaxial cable and wireless products.
