Hallo zusammen!

ist doch total pervers was da abgeht

@murmeltier,

http://www.worldfinancenet.com/content/companies/view-descri…
http://12.14.65.32/silicon?page=holders&compid=PBSC

Packard Bioscience Company (ticker: PBSC, exchange: NASDAQ) News Release - 13-Oct-2000
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Packard BioScience Receives Inkjet Printing Patent Enabling The Production of Protein Chips
MERIDEN, Conn., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Packard BioScience Company (Nasdaq: PBSC) announced today the issuance of U.S. Patent 6,112,605, entitled "Method for Dispensing and Determining a Microvolume of Sample Liquid." The 31 claims of this patent cover methods and devices to enable low-cost, industrial-scale manufacturing of protein and DNA microarrays by using robot-controlled, inkjet-style printing technology. This technology has been pioneered by Packard for the production of biochips, which are microarrays containing microspots of biomolecules such as DNA, proteins and cells. This new patent provides broad and fundamental coverage encompassing accurate dispensing of multiple droplets in a single microspot of a microarray, hence making possible the manufacture of high-quality protein chips where high sensitivity and assay specificity are key requirements.
While current methods for microarray production are limited to the synthesis or spotting of DNA or gene fragments, it is expected that Packard`s proprietary inkjet printing technology will remove many of the technical obstacles associated with the production of high-quality protein chips. Such protein chips are considered essential tools for post-genomic research. They are complementary to DNA and gene chips, and it is generally anticipated that the ability to analyze proteins on chips will lead to the ubiquitous use of biochips.
"The large-scale experimentation requirements of the post-genome era are causing a convergence of biology and nanotechnology. Biochips are expected to have wide commercial applications in areas such as drug discovery, diagnostics and eventually personalized medicine, and we are pleased that the Patent Office acknowledges our pioneering efforts in this fast-growing field," states Emery G. Olcott, President and CEO of Packard BioScience. "In addition to enabling the production of high-quality DNA and protein chips, our inkjet printing technology will be sold in combination with our proprietary biochip substrates, currently under development, and our newly acquired line of laser scanning equipment. Our goal is to package these proprietary technologies to the commercial market to significantly expand the research community`s access to biochips and microarrays."
Biochips containing microarrays of genomic and proteomic information promise to be one of the most important research tools in the post-genome era. They are one of the very few platforms that support the highly parallel analysis needed to exploit the explosive growth in genetic information resulting from the sequencing of the human genome. Initial applications will be in drug discovery, pharmacology and clinical research. The emerging field of pharmacogenomics, which explores an individual`s genetically determined response to drugs, is particularly expected to benefit from biochip analysis, eventually leading to mass diagnostic and personalized medicine applications. Other biochip applications will include forensics, toxicology and epidemiological research.

Packard Bioscience Company (ticker: PBSC, exchange: NASDAQ) News Release - 13-Oct-2000

Packard Bioscience Company Announces Third Quarter 2000 Results
MERIDEN, Conn., Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Packard BioScience Company (Nasdaq: PBSC - news) announced today its results for the third quarter ended
September 30, 2000. These results reflect the Board of Directors` decision to sell Canberra Industries and classify its results as discontinued operations in all periods
presented. These results do not include any benefit for the reduction in interest that would result from the disposition of Canberra or any results from the acquisition
of GSI Lumonics` Life Sciences Division. Cash loss from continuing operations was $.02 per fully-diluted share versus a cash loss of $.08 in the corresponding 1999
quarter. Normalized cash loss per share from continuing operations for the nine-month periods was $.04 in 2000 and $.09 in 1999.
Packard recognized a 4 percent organic growth in revenues on a pro forma constant exchange rate basis. Revenues from non-legacy products increased over 23
percent. Sample prep and automation products grew almost 30 percent in the quarter, fueled by new product introductions in liquid handling and automation systems
at CCS Packard. BioSignal Packard, the Company`s molecular biology subsidiary, grew 150 percent in the quarter, driven by large pharmaceutical company
acceptance of the ALPHA technology. Scintillation-based instruments, or Packard`s legacy products, dropped 18 percent during the quarter. This drop in the legacy
products was greater than expected in part due to strong Y2K sales in 1999 and the unfavorable impact of exchange rates, which had a greater effect on legacy
products. Service declined 4 percent during the quarter also due in part to significant Y2K business in the prior year. Chemicals and supplies declined 4 percent
largely as a result of the decline in legacy products.
Highlights of the Company`s third quarter include:
-- Introduced Fusion(TM), Packard`s new multimode microplate reader.
-- Formed Packard BioChip Technologies, consisting of the
recently-acquired GSI Lumonics` Life Sciences Division and Packard`s
proprietary biochip technologies such as HydroGel(TM) substrates and
the BioChip Arrayer(TM) non-contact microdispensing system.
-- Strengthened intellectual property estate with additional patents in
biochip and microarray production technologies.
-- Shipped biochip production devices to Motorola as part of Packard`s
strategic biochip technology transfer and licensing agreement, a
benchmark in the Company`s multi-channel distribution strategy.
-- Formed strategic collaborations with Agencourt Bioscience and Oxford
GlycoSciences to enhance Packard`s position in DNA purification,
biochips, and proteomics.
-- Refinanced the senior credit facility increasing Packard`s line of
credit to $100 million. The Company incurred a charge of
$0.6 million net of tax in connection with the refinancing which is
accounted for as an extraordinary item.
-- Entered into negotiations with selected bidders for the sale of
Canberra Industries and a closing within three months is expected.
-- Opening of a new office in Hong Kong to expand Packard`s sales and
service efforts throughout the Pacific Rim.
``We believe we will finish 2000 with pro forma revenues for the year in excess of $178 million, inclusive of our microarray scanning business. The steps we have
taken during this year should generate a revenue growth rate in excess of 15 percent for 2001, and in excess of 20 percent in 2002 and beyond,`` said Emery G.
Olcott, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. ``We anticipate that our Packard BioChip Technologies business should grow in excess of 50 percent as we integrate
these complementary technologies, and that our sample preparation and automation product lines will grow 20 percent in 2001, building on the excellent momentum
in 2000. Our relationship with Agencourt allows us to go to market with a full solution for DNA purification. This is one of many exciting application areas in sample
prep and automation. Interest in our new Fusion? multi-detection microplate reader has been high, giving us confidence in our forecasted growth of over 50 percent
for detection products. We believe BioSignal Packard, with its biology expertise, should continue to grow faster than 50 percent. Major screens are being run by
pharmaceutical companies with our ALPHA technology.``
``We anticipate that our legacy products, which made up 30 percent of pro forma product sales going into 2000 but will represent about 18 percent of product sales
in 2001, should continue to decline but at a lower rate than in 2000,`` continued Mr. Olcott. ``Service revenues, which were down in 2000, should rebound in 2001.
Our chemicals and supplies business, which includes our fast growing microplates and tips business, continues to be impacted by declines in our legacy business.
Nevertheless, this product line should grow in excess of 10 percent in 2001 with only the piece that supports our legacy business declining.
``We expect the sale of Canberra to close by year end or in early 2001 and a portion of the cash proceeds will be utilized to repay revolver debt. Although the sale
of Canberra will be dilutive to cash EPS for about $.07 per share, we are targeting to grow cash EPS to $.20 or more in 2001.``
Unless otherwise stated, references throughout this release are adjusted for constant exchange rates, the removal of charges related to the Company`s initial public
offering, the removal of certain 1999 revenues and expenses of Packard`s discontinued product lines and extraordinary items.
The Company will host a conference call on November 7, 2000, beginning at 9:00 a.m. EST, to discuss third quarter earnings. To listen to the call via a live audio

Packard BioScience Company Targets Microarray Business
MERIDEN, Conn., Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Packard BioScience Company (Nasdaq: PBSC - news) today announced its intention to aggressively target the
microarray industry in 2001. This will be the first full year of operations for the Company`s recently created subsidiary, Packard BioChip Technologies LLC. At the
recent JP Morgan H&Q Conference, Packard BioScience executives predicted greater than 30 percent annual growth for the suite of products offered by Packard
BioChip Technologies LLC.
Packard BioChip consists of Packard`s well-established biochip arraying, scanning instrumentation and broad intellectual property portfolio. The subsidiary is
pursuing strategies for value added biochip production, both internally and with third parties. It also operates aggressive research programs in various areas of
biochip technologies including advanced printing and scanning technologies, analysis software, and other aspects of biochip instrumentation.
Last year, Packard added three new U.S. patents(1) to its already extensive IP portfolio. The patents cover the Company`s ink-jet aspirating and dispensing
technology for microarray production. The technology is promoted through instrumentation sales as well as technology transfer and licensing agreements. To date,
Packard has over 20 installations of its first generation BioChip Arrayer(TM) system. This research tool targets the assay development community, while the
Company`s second generation system is designed to provide larger volume production of biochips and microarrays in a format optimized for a manufacturing
environment. The new system is expected to be commercially available mid year. In addition, the Company has successfully supplied its ink-jet technology to a
number of collaborators, like Motorola Life Sciences, for producing both gene and protein chips.
Another technology that Packard is actively developing is its HydroGel(TM) substrate. The Company believes that this three dimensional substrate may have
advantages over other available substrates for protein applications, and is currently investigating the product`s potential with one of its collaborators, Oxford
GlycoSciences plc. If trials support the Company`s opinion, the collaboration may lead to the subsequent development and sale of protein chips.
``Our goal is to become a leading manufacturer of instrumentation and software that spans the microarray process, from production through analysis`` emphasized
Emery G. Olcott, Chairman and CEO of Packard BioScience Company. ``In addition, we wish to be a major supplier of high quality biochips for drug discovery
research involving the use of protein arrays. Our strategy is to use our own portfolio of technologies in conjunction with transfer and licensing agreements to exploit
the vast market potential for biochips in functional genomics and proteomics. We believe we are well positioned to achieve this goal because we have a spectrum of
printing technologies, a proprietary substrate on which to print, as well as scanning instrumentation and software. To broaden our portfolio, we are actively seeking
partners who possess `content` or assay reagents for protein chips. We believe that these partnerships will enable us to make biochips available to the market.``
Packard BioScience is a leading global developer, manufacturer and marketer of instruments and related products and services for the drug discovery process. The
Company is primarily focused on providing products and services to the rapidly growing areas of drug discovery, functional genomics, and proteomics. By
developing integrated platforms built on its wide range of technologies, the Company is bringing the benefits of automation and ultra high throughput analysis to these
areas. Packard believes that it provides the most comprehensive integrated solutions for drug screening applications allowing its customers to increase speed, reduce
cost, improve data accuracy and enhance productivity. The Company has a portfolio of well-recognized brand names and a reputation for high quality, reliable
instruments and innovative reagents. It also has a sales and service department of over 400 employees and an installed base of over 25,000 instruments in more than
60 countries.
Certain statements contained herein are ``forward-looking`` statements which involve a high degree of risk and uncertainty, including, without limitation, the
prospective statements regarding the expected expansion of biochip applications and our ability to capitalize on such expansion, and may be identified by the use of
forward-looking words or phrases such as ``expected,`` ``expecting,`` ``anticipated,`` or ``predicted.`` Many factors could cause actual results to differ materially from
these statements including, without limitation, loss of market share from competition, our ability to successfully introduce new products and platforms, market
acceptance of new products and platforms, our ability to protect our intellectual property, not infringing on the intellectual property rights of others, changes in the
markets we serve and economic issues such as interest rate and foreign exchange fluctuations. These and other risk factors are discussed in detail in our filings with
the Securities and Exchange Commission.

hallo zusammen
