Update on Status of Operations
MINING ACTIVITIES
The diamond drilling programme at Reward Deeps and Conviction has
been successfully completed on time and under budget. The programme
has confirmed the presence of significant mineralisation in both
deposits. A feasibility study has commenced on mining the deposits by
underground methods. Mining of these deposits would measurably
increase the life of existing operations with consequent revenue
benefits.
At Highway, cracks were observed in the west wall and haul road of
the pit in late August, indicating that a partial wall collapse could
be developing. The state of the wall has been monitored on an ongoing
basis since that time. It now appears that a failure of the wall
could occur, and mining activities at the base of the pit have been
temporarily halted.
Both the Reward and Highway pits have a history of this type of
failure and consequently a second access to the pit using the Reward
access ramp was developed as part of the mine plan. Track access to
the pit will be available within a week via this ramp.
Planning is underway to rectify the problem and maintain production
from the pit. Several options are being evaluated including a cut
back of the wall, which would allow access to all current ore
reserves. There are currently sufficient stocks of ore on surface to
maintain 18 days production and ore in the pit for a further 20 days
production.
FINANCIAL SERVICES TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM
The cash flow generated from the Company`s mining operations are
being used to fund the development and marketing of a financial
services technology platform. During the last 3 months significant
emphasis has been placed, and additional associated costs incurred,
on accelerating the development of the prototype platform.
The first phase of the development process, comprising a share
trading front end and content management products, is in final
testing. Following completion of testing, efforts will be directed
towards installation of the products with third parties.
As a result of the effective completion of this labour intensive
first phase, and taking into account business risks associated with
the development and implementation of new technology products and the
cash flow available for operations in the short term, operating
expenses are being adjusted and transitioned to an estimated range of
$500,000 to $600,000 per month.
OTHER MATTERS
All disputes with a previous director of a subsidiary acquired during
the year, Mr Derek Condell, have been fully settled. Kristine Condell
and her company Austin Condell Pty Ltd have made a claim for
commissions for certain contractors provided during her tenure as a
director of the same subsidiary. This claim has been disputed by the
Company on legal advice. The amounts requested are defined and are
not material.
CASH POSITION
The developments at Reward Deeps and Conviction have the potential of
increasing revenues and extending the life of the involved mines.
However, some time delays are anticipated in revenue receipts in the
short-term as a result of the likely pit wall failure.
The company has current cash reserves of $4.4 million with sales
revenues of approximately $3.1 million expected to be received in
September/October 2000.
The directors remain confident of the Company`s strategy.

Davy on (02) 9251 8966.

Hallihallo!

Viel Erfolg Groucho
