The outbreak centres on the northern town of Gulu
Ugandan health authorities are battling to contain an outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus which has killed at least 33 people in the north of the country.
The highly contagious disease, which broke out in the district of Gulu, causes its victims to bleed to death.
Eighty percent of those who come in tell you that they have lost people in their families

A total of 62 people are known to have contracted the disease but doctors fear that many in remote villages may have died before they could get medical help.
The health ministry, accused of not acting fast enough over the matter, has pledged a nationwide plan to battle the problem.
It is calling for people not to panic while it tries to contain the outbreak.
Experts fly in
Two experts from the World Health Organisation (WHO) have already arrived in the area and a team of WHO doctors and nurses are due to fly into the country on Monday.
Protective gear is being moved in as three nurses treating the victims have died after contracting the virus from patients.
Dr Matthew Lukwiya, medical director at Lacor, says there are 33 confirmed dead, but families are talking about many more relatives being ill.
"Eighty per cent of those who come in tell you that they have lost people in their families, five or six for every one that comes in," said Mr Lukwiya.
New cases of people infected continue to arrive at hospitals in Gulu.

Aber klingt echt nicht gut. Mein Bruder z.Zt bei "Ärzte ohne Grenzen" in Uganda - aber immer wo anders - ich versuch Kontakt zu bekommen.

Hab gerade Mail von meinem Bruder bekommen - er ist kein Arzt, macht das um einen Medizin-Studienplatz hier in München zu bekommen (also so was wie ein Zivi)- der Stab macht sich gerade auf den Weg dorthin -wahrscheinlich Ebola-Zaire -aber die haben dort noch weniger Infos als wir (er meint jedoch, daß deutlich mehr Menschen erkrankt sind)
Werde wohl keine Mail mehr bekommen - die fliegen jetzt dann los.
Vielleicht ist es ja nicht so schlimm, wie wir im Moment denken.

Für das was Du hier am Tag verfrisst, Energie und Wasser verbrauchst kann in Afrika locker ein kleines Dorf leben.
Denkst Du echt, nur weil diese Leute sooo weit weg und "Neger" sind - ist es egal??? - Das sind Menschen die sterben !!!
Vielleicht hätten sich ja Deine Eltern etwas um Geburtenkontrolle kümmern sollen (aber verpaßten Gelegenheiten soll man nicht nachweinen).
Und falls Dich das jetzt vielleicht doch getroffen hat, denk mal darüber nach, daß jeder Mensch der existiert nicht weniger Existenzberechtigung hat als Du.

Aid workers evacuate Ebola region
Doctors examine a child suspected of carrying the virus
International non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are pulling aid workers out of northern Uganda in fear of an Ebola outbreak that has killed at least 43 people.
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) has evacuated its international staff from Gulu to the capital Kampala, 225 miles away, and instructed its local staff to stay at home or leave the affected area.
Save the Children has also evacuated one of its workers, and local press reports say that the International Committtee of the Red Cross, Catholic Relief Service, International Organisation for Migration and Action Contre la Faim have done the same.
"We have to take measures to protect our staff," said Oddhild Gunther, head of the NRC`s International Department.
Outbreak spreading
The NGOs are pulling out as the disease appears to be spreading.
While the outbreak appeared to be confined to the town of Gulu at first, there have now been cases reported in neighbouring Kitgum district and in a suburb of Gulu.
Cases have also been reported in the Atiak and Amoru refugee camps.
"It will be very difficult if it has spread there, Ms Gunther said.
"They are piled together," she said of the people in the camps. "It will be a devastating experience."
International aid
Experts from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have been sent to Uganda to help fight the outbreak.
Germany, Ireland, Italy and Japan have pledged funds to pay for the rapid-response team.

But although the WHO has also sent medicine and protective clothing, hospitals in the region are overwhelmed.
Gulu district is one of the poorest areas of Uganda.
Uganda`s Ministry of Health has established a national task force to fight the outbreak.
Officials have said they can contain the outbreak and have asked people not to panic.
They have also established a public education programme to teach people how to avoid spreading the disease.
