      OpenTV "Strong buy"
      Suntrade

Also denkt an meine Worte Kaufen!!!

      who knows?

MATAV CABLE: Matav Israel selects OpenTV for the launch of broadband cable interactive TVOpenTV secures second broadband cable contract in Israel

London, Apr 26, 2001 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- Matav Cable Systems Media

platform for the launch of interactive TV to its 320,000 subscribers. Matav is
providing an electronic programme guide and video on demand and plans to launch
a range of additional interactive applications including email and games. This
is the second broadband cable operator to deploy OpenTV technology in Israel,
making OpenTV the clear leader in the Israeli market.

OpenTV (NASDAQ and AEX: OPTV), the world`s leading interactive television and
media solutions company, has now deployed interactive TV on eight broadband
cable TV networks. Previous announcements include ntl France, Primacom in
Germany, Cablevision and MediaKabel in the Netherlands, E-Vision in the United
Arab Emirates, Golden Channels in Israel and USA Media. Each network is using or
is planning to use OpenTV`s third generation operating system, EN2, to implement
      two-way connectivity.

"OpenTV`s experience in deploying real, working, broadband interactive cable TV
made it an obvious choice as a technology partner. Interactive TV will be a
major part of our efforts in using our broadband cable network to expand our
business, other initiatives will include internet and voice communications,"
said Meidad Katz, chief technology officer, Matav Cable.

Matav Cable is one of three cable TV providers in Israel, collectively reaching
1.2 million of the nation`s 1.6 million households.

James Ackerman, OpenTV CEO, said, "Israel has become one of the prime advanced
interactive TV markets based on its position as the most cabled country in the
world. We are delighted to be working with Matav Israel to support its business
objectives as a pioneer in broadband cable TV."

      OpenTV`s Shanghai Cable Deal
Makes It First in Chinese Market
      By Michael Flagg
Staff Reporter of The Wall Street Journal

HONG KONG --Inc. will become the first interactive-TV company to crack the China market, as one of the world`s largest cable-TV systems picked the Mountain View, Calif., company to set up functions such as e-mail for one million of its subscribers.

The deal with Shanghai Cable Network, which OpenTV announced Monday, will create China`s first interactive television system -- a big step for Asia`s broadcasting industry. Like the U.S., Asia has lagged behind Europe in enabling people to talk back to their television sets.
These services are supposed to bring television channels and cable systems new sources of profits from businesses such as e-commerce, where viewers can, for example, buy a dress that they admire on an access in a television program, or gamble over their television.
Those new profits would be especially important in Asia, where many regional channels still aren`t profitable after years of operation. Cable companies cheat them out of revenues by underreporting subscribers, according to people in the industry; advertisers are reluctant; and the channels have incurred unexpectedly heavy costs to produce local programming when local viewers proved surprisingly resistant to warmed-over U.S. content.
OpenTV, which bid for the deal against three other companies, would not disclose how much Shanghai Cable is paying it, but people familiar with the deal say the sum is "substantial" for a company of OpenTV`s size. OpenTV had $63 million in revenue last year.
Shanghai Cable has 3.2 million customers, one million of whom have just been upgraded to broadband cable, giving them enough capacity to access the Internet and interact with television programs in what analysts say is one of the world`s most advanced cable systems. The system is expected to start this year.
OpenTV makes so-called middleware that, when installed in subscribers` set-top boxes, lets them interact with their television by enabling the broadcaster`s computers to talk to the television`s operating system.
One service might be to let viewers call up additional footage of news stories in which they are especially interested, said people familiar with the deal. As part of the deal in Shanghai, China`s largest city, OpenTV will also help set up the system.
The deal will put China alongside Japan and Australia in leading Asia in interactive television. But while e-commerce is expected to be big in Japan and Australia, where lots of people have credit cards, simple Internet access may be one of the more popular uses in the less developed China.
In other Asian countries the business is hampered by lack of broadband access and low incomes that put set-top boxes and cable fees beyond the reach of most households.
OpenTV posted a loss of $131 million for the first quarter on revenue of $22.4 million. The six-year-old company, which first sold stock to the public in 1999, has some huge investors, including AOL Time-Warner Inc., the world`s largest media company.

Silicon Valley, Calif., May 22, 2001 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- Philips
Semiconductors, a division of Philips Electronics (NYSE:PHG, AEX:PHI), and
OpenTV (NASDAQ and AEX:OPTV), the world`s leading interactive television and
media solutions company, today announced their intention to port OpenTV`s
interactive television (iTV) middleware to the Philips Semiconductors` Nexperia
Home Entertainment Engine line. The integration of OpenTV`s proven iTV
middleware solution with the Nexperia Home Entertainment Engine platform is
expected to empower service providers to deliver interactive television

Was laeuft denn da eigendlich mit Premiere in Deutschland ???
Habt ihr da irgendwelche Informationen was da so laeuft ??

      @hallo open-fans

      Press Release
OpenTV and Predictive Networks Partner to Manage and Deliver Targeted Advertising to Interactive Television Applications

      :D::D::D::D::D:
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. & CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 2001--OpenTV (Nasdaq:OPTV <http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=optv&d=t> - news </n/o/optv.html>; AEX:OPTV), the world`s leading interactive television (iTV) and media solutions company, and Predictive Networks, creator of anonymous, behavioral models of user preferences and affinities for iTV, today announced a partnership to empower network operators, content providers and advertisers to understand and reach individual TV viewers with unprecedented levels of precision, while adhering to strict user-privacy standards.
The partnership is expected to enable the management and delivery of highly targeted and personalized advertisements into interactive applications from OpenTV and its partners.
The partnership incorporates Predictive Networks` ad management and targeted ad delivery tools to OpenTV`s Service Platform Suite, an integrated software solution designed to provide operators with the ability to manage the operational and transactional demands of a full-featured, revenue-generating interactive TV service. Predictive Networks is also developing a set of APIs for application developers to ``advertising-enable`` their applications running on OpenTV`s Service Platform Suite.
OpenTV`s Service Platform Suite offers a turnkey solution for cable, satellite or digital terrestrial network operators that want to quickly launch an iTV service with a full range of applications. Operators can deploy these services across multiple operating systems, middleware and set-top box platforms.
      Who is the Viewer?

Predictive Networks` technology solves a major problem facing the iTV industry: who is the viewer -- and what do they want? As the creator of artificial intelligence-based Digital Silhouettes(TM), the company has developed more than 1 million highly detailed and accurate, yet anonymous, profiles of individuals, based on their behavior, preferences and affinities on iTV, as well as Internet and wireless networks.

Viewer privacy is protected by using only random ID numbers -- not personal information -- by discarding all clickstream data after analysis, and by advancing beyond ``opt-in`` approaches to provide viewers with complete control over their identities. The partnership between OpenTV and Predictive Networks comes at a time when many industry analysts are projecting a huge boom in iTV.
According to a report by Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown, iTV is poised for growth because:

Much of the digital broadcast infrastructure is in place, with lower server costs driving broadcasters to compete by delivering more and better content, with vastly increased choice and services
Television is the preferred platform for consumer entertainment and information, and is in much wider use and has a richer user interface for commerce than the PC
E-commerce content and infrastructure built for the Internet is largely complete, and can be easily adapted to iTV

``OpenTV`s Service Platform Suite, enhanced with Predictive Networks` solutions, provides network operators, programmers, and advertisers with the tools to understand their viewers and manage the delivery of ads through interactive television applications on a personalized basis,`` said James F. Brown, OpenTV executive vice president and general manager, OpenTV Interactive.

``This solution is a key link in the interactive TV value chain for OpenTV and is synergistic with the work we are doing with other partners such as Digital Adco`s SpotOn. With Predictive Networks` technology as part of OpenTV`s Service Platform Suite, we believe that interactive television providers will be able to easily add managed revenue-generating advertisements to their services.``
``Deployed worldwide in more than 16 million set-top boxes, and the leader in interactive television on both today`s and tomorrow`s next generation set-top boxes, OpenTV is the ideal partner for Predictive Networks as we strive to deliver technology that will help drive the business of iTV to the next level,`` said Devin Hosea, Predictive Networks president.

``We`re extremely pleased to be selected as a preferred partner for advertising and interactive media technology, and we`re looking forward to applying our technology to further enhance the OpenTV user experience.``

AT&T stellt interaktives Fernsehen vorerst ein

(daa/c`t)

bestimmt keine schlechte nachricht für open, soviel ist sicher.übrigens.was at&t sucht ist genau das was open-tv liefern könnte.jetzt müssen sie also nur noch schauen wie sie aus dem knebelvertrag mit billy wieder rauskommen, dann scheint alles möglich.

OpenTV to Release Device Mosaic 5.0, Designed to Deliver the Most Advanced Embedded Web Browser Technology Available
Fully Internet Standards Compliant, Device Mosaic 5.0 Expected to Empower Next Generation Interactive Services For Interactive Television and Internet Appliances
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- OpenTV (Nasdaq: OPTV; AEX), the world`s leading interactive television and media solutions company, today announced it will release Device Mosaic 5.0, the latest version of its embedded browser solution, in September, 2001.

The new release, unveiled today at NCTA, is being designed to feature a number of improvements, including a more advanced TV-centric display formatting capability, support for Netscape plug-ins and Internet relay chat facility, reinforcing Device Mosaic`s position as the most advanced embedded browser technology available today.

``As digital set-top boxes become more powerful, demand for interactive television (iTV) with HTML-based content is growing. OpenTV`s Device Mosaic 5.0 is ideal for iTV platform developers who need a proven, widely-adopted embedded Web browser that supports the latest Internet standards. We believe that it will be the most fully-functional, stand-alone set-top browser available on the market,`` said Anup Murarka, OpenTV`s vice president of strategy and product marketing. ``With more than seven million Device Mosaic browsers currently deployed worldwide in a variety of digital set-top boxes, televisions and Internet appliance platforms, Device Mosaic offers the best combination of features, customizability, performance and customer support.``

As the availability of interactive services continues to accelerate through iTV and Internet appliances, a high-performance, proven Web browser is a critical component to support next generation products. Industry leaders such as PowerTV, Sony, Motorola, TiVo and Telecruz realize this and have adopted OpenTV`s Device Mosaic due to its mature and stable architecture, support for the latest standards, and extensibility.

Device Mosaic supports the latest Internet standards including HTML 4.0, CSS, JavaScript 1.4, SSL 2.0 & 3.0, and ATVEF 1.1. In addition, Device Mosaic`s highly tunable and customizable architecture optimizes performance on embedded devices by accommodating variances often found in CPU speeds, network transmissions and content offerings.
Device Mosaic 5.0 will mark the first major release of Device Mosaic since the merger of OpenTV with Internet industry pioneer Spyglass. With a combined development time of seven years, Device Mosaic 5.0 represents the most mature and robust embedded Web browser architecture available on the market today. Device Mail, a customizable, embedded Internet e-mail client, is offered with Device Mosaic.

Fantasy Sports Hits a Home Run With OpenTV as They Partner to Provide The First-Ever U.S. Interactive Television Fantasy Baseball SeriesMajor League Baseball Players Association and STATS, Inc. Team-Up with OpenTV

      MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jun 11, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- "Batter Up!"
OpenTV (Nasdaq: OPTV; AEX), the world`s leading interactive television and media
solutions company, announces the first-ever interactive television (iTV) fantasy
sports series with the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA),
offering the estimated 30 million U.S. fantasy sports fans the opportunity to
interact with their television on a whole new level. The new iTV fantasy sport
games are initially intended for U.S. broadcast and will be available through
OpenTV`s service providers -- including USA Media Cable Group by fall 2001.

OpenTV`s iTV fantasy sports line-up will be inaugurated with the launch of its
baseball application called "Big League TV by MLBPA." On cable or satellite
networks, enthusiasts will use the interactive application on their set-top box
to view baseball statistics, real-time scores, player profiles and relevant news
and standings from STATS Inc., the nation`s leading sports information and
statistical analysis company. Additionally, interactive fantasy baseball games
can be played either on dedicated game channels, or while the viewer is watching
      a television program.

"Partnering with OpenTV literally opens up a whole new distribution outlet for
the MLBPA. We`re excited to be a part of the future of fantasy sports, which we
expect will be a hit among enthusiasts," said Judy Heeter, MLBPA`s director of
licensing and business affairs. "With TV remote-in-hand, our fans will now have
real instant access and can get even closer to their favorite players."

"Big League TV by MLBPA" will be rolled out in three phases over the course of a
year. In July 2001, viewers will be able to play interactive fantasy baseball
games and retrieve statistics and information. The second phase will empower
viewers to interact and compete nationally with millions of other iTV users.
Finally, t-commerce functionality will be added in phase three, enabling
consumers to purchase their favorite sport items through their television.

"We`re proud to be the first iTV company to launch a fantasy sport series. This
further underscores OpenTV`s commitment to provide our network operators
superior iTV content by creating innovative applications," said OpenTV CEO James
Ackerman. "Partnering with heavy-hitters like the MLBPA and STATS, Inc. that
understand the rapidly evolving digital interactive marketplace demonstrates our

Linux to challenge Microsoft on TV

      By Reuters

Some of the largest makers of chips and interactive television software have teamed up to design Linux-based software for set-top boxes that deliver TV programming into homes, aiming to create a lower-cost product than one from software giant Microsoft.

Motorola and Pace Micro Technology (LSE: PIC.L - news) represent the set-top box makers in the 24-member venture, dubbed TV Linux Alliance.

By creating a standardised framework for Linux-based television software, the alliance hopes to bring the technology to market more quickly and with lower development costs and fewer integration issues than by working alone. "The current operating systems were not particularly built to foresee such developments" as increased processing power and memory capacity, particularly when manufacturers begin adding more networking interfaces and peripheral devices to set-top boxes, said Mitchell Kertzman, chief executive of Liberate Technologies at a news conference.

The alliance includes Microsoft`s rivals in the interactive television market, such as Liberate Technologies, OpenTV and ACTV, in addition to chipmakers like STMicroelectronics, Conexant Systems and Broadcom.
Other participants include network computer manufacturer Sun Microsystems; personal video recorder makers TiVo and ReplayTV; high-speed Internet company ExciteAtHome, whose investors include cable operators AT&T, Comcast and Cox Communications; and Lineo, a developer of Linux operating systems.

Jerry Krasner, executive director of Electronic Market Forecasters noted that the alliance "should keep competition at the operating system layer thriving".
Microsoft, the biggest maker of personal computer software, formally launched its interactive TV software in Portugal earlier this month.

Under the acquisition agreement, OpenTV will acquire all of Static`s privately-held stock in a combined stock and cash transaction. PlayJam currently reaches more than 9.0 million homes across digital television networks in Europe, including BSkyB, ntl, Telewest, TPS and Canal Satellite. PlayJam also currently runs on several iTV platforms, including those provided by OpenTV, Vivendi`s Canal Plus Technologies
      , and Liberate

``I am very excited about this acquisition, as it demonstrates OpenTV`s commitment to move up the iTV value chain,`` said OpenTV Chief Executive Officer James Ackerman. ``With the acquisition of Static, OpenTV gains the world`s most successful interactive entertainment and games channel, immediate recurring revenue streams, an award-winning broadcast design team, and a world-class iTV application development team with proven multi-platform experience.
``The iTV games category has proven to be an early `killer app` in the interactive television arena. We expect to continue distributing PlayJam through multiple iTV platforms while leveraging PlayJam and Static`s iTV expertise through OpenTV`s experienced technology and sales teams.``

Jasper Smith, chief executive officer of Static, said: ``We are very excited to join the worldwide leader in the iTV industry. Highlights of Static`s PlayJam iTV entertainment and games offerings include the following:

To date, Static has developed and offered, via PlayJam, 55 iTV games across multiple iTV platforms.
Popular iTV games include arcade-style action games, trivia, word puzzles, and sports-based games of skill such as golf and darts. PlayJam is fun and rewards players through a variety of high-value prizes.
PlayJam generates recurring revenue streams via premium-rate telephone calls that allow players to store their game points in order to vie for prizes, through advertisements placed on the games and via branded game sponsorships.
PlayJam successfully attracts the 16 to 34 year-old TV viewing demographic coveted by advertisers. vielelicht sollte man hier nochmals nachlegen, oder ist hier besser abwarten gefragt. die amis verkaufen doch zu ihrem urlaub teilweise ihre shares. vielleicht bekommt man optv dann noch etwas günstiger. ich habe heute einen fehler gemacht, mir noch ein paar c1 ins depot zu legen. ich dachte, der boden sei erreicht. das geld hätte ich lieber hier angelegt. da kann man halt nichts machen.

OPENTV: OpenTV and ACTV complete integration of software for interactive applicationsACTV`s Interactive TV products available on OpenTV enabled set-top boxes

London, Jun 27, 2001 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- OpenTV (Nasdaq and AEX:
OPTV), the world`s leading interactive television and media solutions company,
and ACTV Inc. (Nasdaq: IATV), a digital media company specialising in
interactive television and enhanced media technologies, announced today that
ACTV`s proprietary technology has been integrated into OpenTV`s interactive
      television platform.

OpenTV`s interactive television middleware for both today`s and tomorrow`s next
generation set-top boxes is expected to include support for SpotOn(tm), the
targeted advertising solution that is jointly marketed by ACTV, OpenTV and
Motorola through ACTV`s Digital ADCO subsidiary; One to One TV, ACTV`s
individualised programming technology; and HyperTV(, ACTV`s system for
synchronising television programming with online content.

The integration provides ACTV`s enhanced TV and individualised programming
solutions to be available through digital set-tops that use the OpenTV
middleware. The initial integration effort is on the Pace Set-Top Box, and the
companies plan to integrate their combined technologies on additional set-top
boxes over the next several months. OpenTV`s interactive television middleware
is currently deployed in more than 16 million cable, satellite, and digital
terrestrial set-top boxes, and enjoyed by over 40 million viewers worldwide,
including subscribers of EchoStar in the U.S., BSkyB in the United Kingdom, ntl
in France, and DIRECTV Latin America.

The integration of ACTV technology is expected to create new revenue-generating
opportunities for service providers. For example, with SpotOn(tm) targeted
advertising, advertisers can target messages seamlessly to individual set-top
boxes, allowing viewers to watch television commercials that match their needs.
Neighbours watching the same programme can see different commercials based on
      their demographic information.

on the current population of digital set-top boxes while positioning us for
growth on future interactive platforms," said ACTV President and CEO David

OpenTV and Pace Micro Technology Extend Global Agreement; OpenTV Technology Selected for High-End Broadband Cable Home Gateway

LONDON, Jun 28, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Pace Micro Technology (LSE:PIC), the
world`s largest dedicated developer of digital home gateway technology, and
OpenTV (Nasdaq: OPTV) (AEX:OPTV), the world`s leading interactive television and
media solutions company, have signed an agreement to jointly develop high-end
      digital cable technology worldwide.

Pace will port OpenTV`s industry leading broadband offering onto its advanced
Di4000 cable home gateway, which is fast becoming the de facto digital cable
platform in Western Europe. OpenTV`s broadband portfolio includes its
interactive TV Middleware, EN2, integrated with Device Mosaic(TM), a
standards-based HTML browser specifically developed for the TV market and
already deployed in more than seven million television receivers world-wide.

OpenTV`s EN2 Middleware enables full two-way connectivity between a network
operator and the viewer`s set-top box. EN2 has already been selected by eight
broadband cable TV networks world-wide. Device Mosaic(TM) enables Internet on TV
and allows system operators and/or their developers to produce simple iTV
applications in HTML that can be delivered either over the open Internet or in
      an Intranet-based Walled Garden.

The Pace Di4000 offers cable operators the ability to provide many advanced
interactive TV services, including video on demand, high-speed Internet service,
and Voice over IP (VoIP). The Di4000 represents the latest broadband generation
of Pace`s successful Di1000/2000 product series, as deployed in the UK by NTL
      and Telewest.

"Pace is leveraging its proven OpenTV expertise by porting OpenTV`s broadband
technology onto Pace`s Di4000 - the world-leading cable home gateway. By
selecting Pace, OpenTV has again allied itself with the industry leader, and
shown that its technology is suitable for both satellite and cable broadband
networks," said Neil Gaydon, Pace Micro Technology director of sales.

Pace and OpenTV have worked together since 1996, creating home gateway solutions
for network operators and broadcasters worldwide. Open TV also utilises Pace
home gateway technology for its OpenTV Target Decoder, the programming reference
      for OpenTV developers worldwide.

James Ackerman, OpenTV`s CEO, said, "We have a long-term relationship with Pace.
This new partnership will see us work together to develop new high-end digital
cable television products. OpenTV middleware is already being used in 16 million
set-top boxes world-wide. This new broadband platform allows us to integrate our
market-leading HTML technology, which has already been deployed on 7 million set
tops as a standalone browser. The combined offering is expected to be the most
advanced broadband set top solution we`ve offered to the market. We look forward
to extending our leadership position by making advanced interactive TV services
      a reality on any network."

The Di4000 will support both NTSC and PAL broadcast standards, has a 175 MIPS
processor, an integrated DOCSIS cable modem, USB and Ethernet connectivity and
will offer a pioneering interactive remote control support.

OpenTV and BigBand Networks Team to Provide Bandwidth-Efficient Interactive TV Content for Cable OperatorsJoint Solution Expected to Minimize Transmission Bandwidth and Capital Equipment Costs for Efficient Delivery of Interactive Local TV Content

FREMONT & MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jul 11, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- BigBand
Networks Inc., provider of the Broadband Multimedia- Service Router (BMR(TM)),
and OpenTV (Nasdaq: OPTV)(AEX:OPTV), the world`s leading interactive television
and media solutions company, today announced a strategic technology integration
and cooperative marketing agreement to provide cable operators with an
integrated, cost-effective solution to deliver interactive TV content.

Using the combined product offering, cable operators can insert interactive TV
content at master or local head-ends, while minimizing capital equipment costs
and optimizing transmission bandwidth to provide these services. Cable operators
can more efficiently manage their transmission bandwidth requirements. As a
result, TV consumers can view high-quality, local interactive TV content,
without impacting the bandwidth required for quality video and audio delivery.

Using OpenTV`s OpenStreamer and middleware software with BigBand Networks` BMR,
a new class of router based on NativeMedia(TM) architecture that uniquely routes
and integrates video, audio and data in their native formats, cable operators
will have an opportunity to deploy interactive TV content. The combined solution
provides complete scalability and interoperability for networks with multiple
equipment manufacturers and video on-demand (VOD) vendors. In addition, the
combined solution is expected to enable cable operators to save on capital
equipment costs required to incorporate redundancy and fault tolerance, and to
enable efficient broadcasting of channel line-up data to digital set-top boxes.

"This agreement highlights the compelling value-proposition of the BMR platform
in enabling cable operators to easily and cost-effectively deliver new,
interactive content and services," said Amir Bassan-Eskenazi, president and
chief executive officer of BigBand Networks. "We are pleased to team with the
worldwide leader in interactive television, OpenTV, to provide our mutual
customers with a solution that allows them to build out their infrastructures to
      deliver scalable, converged services."

"BigBand Networks has developed advanced network routing technology that makes
the delivery of interactive TV content far more cost effective," said James
Ackerman, CEO of OpenTV. "This partnership enhances our commitment to network
operators to provide the most cost- efficient, superior interactive television
solution that allows for immediate deployment of interactive content."

Viel Erfolg!

      PARIS & FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. & LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 22, 2001--

DIRECTV Latin America to use interactive TV services based on consumer magazines to target subscribers and build new revenue streams

OpenTV (NASDAQ and Euronext Amsterdam: OPTV) and Lagardere Active iTV are collaborating to provide DIRECTV Latin America with eight turnkey interactive television information services on the themes of beauty and fashion, cookery, wine and horoscopes (four in Spanish and four in Portuguese).

It is expected that the services will be delivered to more than 800,000 DIRECTV Latin America subscribers between the end of 2001 and the beginning of 2002 and will be delivered under the sponsorship of ELLE, one of Lagardere`s most successful editorial products.

The announcement stems from the partnership between OpenTV, the world`s leading interactive TV company, and Lagardere Active iTV, a fully owned subsidiary of the international media giant, to create, develop and market interactive television (iTV) services to network operators.

``By providing interactive access to content from some of the world`s best known consumer and lifestyle magazines we are making DIRECTV even more attractive to both existing and target customers. We intend to build a rich set of iTV applications to make our services even more compelling while opening up new revenue opportunities through advertising,`` said Kevin N. McGrath, Chairman of DIRECTV Latin America.

Lagardere Active iTV will handle the design, editing and content update of each themed iTV service, with technical development and operation to be handled by Static 2358, a wholly-owned subsidiary of OpenTV.

``Interactive TV offers us a major opportunity to deliver our huge base of existing content in a new format, reaching new audiences. By partnering with OpenTV we believe we can manage and edit content in much the same way as we would approach our magazines, books and other digital media,`` said Pierre Boucaud, President & CEO of Lagardere Active iTV.

OpenTV Publisher enables applications to be built around customised templates, which then provide the basis for automatically formatting and constantly updating internet based information for delivery to an interactive TV audience.

James Ackerman, CEO OpenTV, said, ``Lagardere Active`s position as a global publishing powerhouse means that we can offer network operators a complete iTV package, handling every aspect of service delivery from custom design to management and delivery. This is a great opportunity for us to help DIRECTV continue use interactive TV to achieve its business objectives.``

Deloitte & Touche Names OpenTV Among Silicon Valley`s Top 50 of the Fasting Growing Technology Companies
OpenTV is the Sole Interactive TV Company on the List
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 16, 2001--Deloitte & Touche, one of the nation`s leading professional services firms, selects OpenTV (Nasdaq:OPTV - news; Euronext Amsterdam:OPTV), the world`s leading interactive television company, for its prestigious ``2001Technology Fast 50`` Program for Silicon Valley, a ranking of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the area.

OpenTV is the only interactive television company to be recognized on the top 50 list for Silicon Valley. Rankings are based on the percentage of growth in revenues for the five-year period from 1996 to 2000.

OpenTV Chief Executive Officer James Ackerman credits the company`s strong growth in deploying in more than 18 million set-top boxes and having been selected by 48 cable, satellite and terrestrial operators worldwide. ``OpenTV has long been at the forefront of the `interactive TV revolution` and it is a tremendous honor to be recognized in this manner for our work.``

``In an era where technology companies come and go like shooting stars, making the Deloitte & Touche Fast 50 is a testament to a company`s leadership and its ability to not only have the right solution for that moment in time, but also the vision that allows growth over five years,`` said Roy Avondet, managing partner Deloitte & Touche. ``We at Deloitte & Touche feel that OpenTV has proven that its leadership has the right stuff to succeed, and salute their accomplishments.``

OpenTV`s increase in revenues of more than 6,100 percent over the five-year period from 1996 to 2000 resulted in a Top 50 ranking overall in the Fast 50 for Silicon Valley.

To qualify for the Fast 50, companies must have had operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 1996 and $1,000,000 in 2000; must be public or private companies headquartered in the Silicon Valley; and must be ``technology companies,`` which are defined as companies that produce technology, manufacture a technology product, or devote a high percentage of effort to research and development of technology.

Winners of the 22 regional Fast 50 programs in the United States and Canada are automatically entered in the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500 program, which ranks North America`s top 500 fastest growing technology companies. Und wieder 3 millionen mehr OpenTV Kunden. Insgesamt jetzt 21 millionen. Der Hauptkonkurrent Liberate hat gerade mal 500.000!
LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 24, 2001--The world`s most successful interactive TV games channel, PlayJam(TM), is making its debut in the US.

Static 2358(TM) (Static), a wholly-owned subsidiary of OpenTV (NASDAQ and Euronext Amsterdam:OPTV) has entered into agreement with Cablevision Systems Corp. to offer PlayJam to customers of Cablevision`s iO: Interactive Optimum digital service. Cablevision serves 3 million customers in the New York Metro area. PlayJam offers viewers the chance to use their television to play entertaining games and, eventually, to win prizes. Popular games include arcade-style action games, trivia, word puzzles, and sports-based games of skill such as golf and darts. Revenues associated with PlayJam are generated from advertising, prize registration and pay-to-play games.

The agreement underlines Static`s position as a leader in its field. PlayJam has achieved significant market penetration in Europe with over 1.2 billion games played in a nine-month period. The company has amassed a large library of games across every major digital interactive television middleware platform and the channel reaches over 9 million homes across digital television networks, including BSkyB, ntl, Telewest, TPS, and Canalsatellite.

Audience measurement by the Broadcast Audience Research Board (BARB -- Nielsen equivalent) has regularly registered PlayJam among the top ten digital TV channels in the UK. Each week around 1.8 million individual viewers tuned in to PlayJam an average of 4 times each for over 30 minutes a session on BSkyB`s digital platform.(a)

In addition, PlayJam has provided interactive marketing campaigns built around game-sponsorship for a number of brands including Dominos Pizza, Aquafresh, Mars and Evian.

``We believe that interactive TV`s ability to capture viewers` attention for several minutes at a time and allow interaction with the advertiser`s brands is becoming increasingly important for marketers,`` said Jasper Smith, CEO of Static.

``I am very excited about PlayJam`s move into the American market through its inclusion in the ground-breaking launch of Cablevision`s advanced digital offering,`` Smith continued. ``Our experience has shown that interactive games have enormous appeal for digital TV viewers, and we are looking forward to promoting our service in the US. We aim to leverage our substantial expertise to attract new customers in a potentially huge market. We now have a large team developing and marketing PlayJam in the US and I hope that the channel will become a household name as the penetration digital services increases.``

OpenTV and Matsushita Form Strategic Alliance to Develop Interactive Television Solution for Japanese MarketOpenTV`s HTML and Matsushita`s BML Technologies to Develop Interactive Digital Broadcasting Platform for the Second Largest Economy in the Wo

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov 13, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- OpenTV (Nasdaq: OPTV) and
(EURONEXT:OPTV), the world`s leading interactive television company, today
announced that it has formed a strategic alliance with Matsushita Electric
Industrial Company Limited, the world`s largest consumer electronics company
best known outside Japan by its Panasonic brand name, to develop jointly an
interactive solution that supports the current Japanese digital broadcasting
      standards.

Matsushita has selected OpenTV`s HTML technology, Device Mosaic, to develop a
new solution-- an integrated browser comprised of HTML and BML technology-- for
enhanced on demand interactive applications that are BML compliant. BML is
Japan`s standards mark up language for the digital broadcast industry.

"OpenTV is honored to have been selected by Matsushita, respected around the
world as a leading consumer electronics manufacturer, to develop jointly an
interactive television solution for Japan that we feel will accelerate the
deployment of interactive TV," said James Ackerman, OpenTV CEO. "We believe the
Japanese market with 50 million television households made up of consumers who
are adept at responding to new technologies will respond very positively to the
opportunity to enhance their digital television viewing experience."

Mr. Fujio Nakajima, Director of the DTV Network Solution Center, AVC, Matsushita
Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., commented, "Through this alliance, we will
jointly develop software optimized for the Japanese market by integrating
OpenTV`s latest HTML technology and Matsushita`s latest BML-related technology,
and plan to convert industry standard technology into products ahead of other
companies. This alliance builds on an existing relationship in which OpenTV and
Matsushita have already joined forces in developing interactive TV solutions for
UK`s BSkyB and for a DVB/MHP solution, a new digital broadcasting standard in
      the European market."

Jeff Brown, Asia Pacific Managing Director of OpenTV, commented, "OpenTV has
been active in adapting its technology to meet Japanese standards since March
2000 when we joined ARIB. OpenTV has joined forces with Matsushita to develop a
new technology based upon the HTML engine Device Mosaic. We believe this is an
important first step, providing Japanese operators with our complete end-to-end
iTV solution. We look forward to continuing to develop our relationship with
Matsushita in Japan and throughout the world."

Through this strategic alliance, the two companies will integrate OpenTV`s
latest HTML technology and Matsushita`s BML technology to develop jointly data
broadcasting-related software, including a browser that can be used in BML
digital satellite broadcasting technology stipulated by the Association of Radio
Industries and Businesses (ARIB), the next 110-degree CS broadcasting
technology, and the cumulative type data broadcasting offered by ep Co., Ltd. in
which Matsushita has a stake. They expect to provide TV and set-top box
manufacturers that produce products for digital satellite broadcasting,
110-degree CS broadcasting, and ep Co., Ltd. with software and middleware
solutions by March 2002. ep Co., Ltd. is headquartered in Chuo-ward, Tokyo and
is headed by President Chosaku Toda.

      Press Release
      SOURCE: OpenTV
OpenTV and Panasonic Launch Interactive Television in Germany
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 15, 2002--A new advanced digital set-top box powered by OpenTV (Nasdaq: OPTV - news; Euronext Amsterdam: OPTV), the world`s leading interactive television company, and manufactured by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (MEI), one of the leading electronics manufacturers for consumer, business and industrial use, aims to kick start interactive television in Germany, Europe`s largest television market.

The Panasonic-brand TU-DSF41 universal set-top box, which launches in Germany next week, has been developed for the satellite platform F.U.N. (Free Universe Network) and incorporates both OpenTV`s core interactive TV platform technology and the company`s embedded HTML browser.

The OpenTV HTML Package for the OpenTV Core middleware allows network operators to add HTML and JavaScript capabilities to set-top boxes. It is based on OpenTV`s Device Mosaic(TM) technology, the world`s most widely deployed iTV-centric HTML engine. The HTML Package enables access to web content, as well as applications such as electronic program guides, email and games, and support for secure t-commerce transactions, in a manner specifically designed for television.

Major German commercial networks such as RTL and public broadcasters ARD and ZDF, as well as Internet service providers and other companies, are already developing a wide array of applications for the new set-top box. These include electronic program guides (EPG), online channels including sports scores, weather, news, email, SMS and interactive game shows.

The new set-top box also includes innovative features such as a JPEG viewing application. By inserting SD-Memory Cards into a common Interface slot, viewers at home will be able to see their digital photos on TV.

Lothar Kerestedjian, Manager Business Development, Panasonic Marketing Europe said:

``Panasonic and OpenTV have responded to demands by German consumers` for easy-to-use interactive services. Viewers don`t want walled garden portals or monthly subscription fees. But they want to be able to access information, email and TV-based shopping with the press of a button on the remote control or a custom keyboard. OpenTV`s HTML solution is the most advanced embedded browser technology available today and is a key solution in bringing TV-based commerce and web content into the living room. Both Panasonic and OpenTV are leading the way in television and Internet convergence.``

Regis Saint Girons, OpenTV`s Managing Director and Senior Vice President Sales, Europe said:

``Our leading OpenTV Core interactive TV technology platform, together with the HTML Package, simplifies the entire business of developing iTV services. They offer manufacturers and network operators one of the best solutions for delivering advanced applications and content to television audiences. The support of the world`s biggest consumer electronics company is strong evidence of the power of this proposition.``

Integral to its development of the HTML Package has been OpenTV`s commitment to open standards. This commitment has resulted in a targeted browser that supports the latest Internet and iTV standards, including support for HTML 4.0 tags and attributes:

      CSS 1.0 and 2.0
      DOM 1
ECMAScript compatible engine, JavaScript 1.4, with improved Script Object Model and Event Handling
      SSL 3.0
      HTTP 1.1
      Basic Authentication and Cookies
The new box is also equipped with a Common Interface slot, allowing viewers to upgrade to pay TV services.
