NEWS:
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 12, 2001--Echelon Corporation (Nasdaq:ELON) today announced its acquisition for cash of the privately-held ARIGO Software GmbH, a Beckum, Germany-based developer of LonWorks(R) hardware and software products. Founded in 1996, ARIGO specializes in LonWorks power line devices, gateways, and Web-enabled connectivity products.
"ARIGO`s experience and expertise in LonWorks power line designs and Internet connectivity expands Echelon`s development teams in these core areas," said Ken Oshman, Echelon`s chairman, president and chief executive officer. "The acquisition of ARIGO gives us a world-class LonWorks engineering team that strengthens our European development resources as well as a suite of products that complements Echelon`s existing offerings. The addition of these expert resources underscores our focus on our customers and partners across the European community."
"We are very excited to add such a high-caliber group of engineers to our team," added Peter Mehring, Echelon`s vice president of engineering. "ARIGO`s engineering group includes some of the best power line and software design engineers available. They have the knowledge and experience to work with Echelon`s existing engineering team to create high-volume, robust products for the residential, commercial, and industrial markets."
Echelon does not believe that the acquisition will have a material impact on full year 2001 reported earnings per share.
This press release may contain statements relating to future plans, events or performance. Such statements may involve risks and uncertainties, including risks associated with uncertainties pertaining to the ability to integrate ARIGO`s development team with Echelon`s engineering group, the success of these development groups in designing and developing Echelon`s products and services, the development of demand for Echelon`s products and services in Europe, the impact of the acquisition on Echelon`s financial results, and other risks identified in Echelon`s SEC filings. Actual results, events and performance may differ materially. Readers are cautioned not to place undue reliance on these forward-looking statements, which speak only as of the date hereof. Echelon undertakes no obligation to release publicly the result of any revisions to these forward-looking statements that may be made to reflect events or circumstances after the date hereof or to reflect the occurrence of unanticipated events.
