Prozessor-Hersteller Advanced Micro Devices erweitert seine Produktpalette für Billig-PCs: Ab sofort bietet Intels schärfster Verfolger seinen Duron-Chip auch mit 900 MHz an, der hauptsächlich in PC-Systemen unter 1000$ verwendet wird.

Zu den ersten Herstellern, die den neuen AMD-Chip einsetzen werden, zählen Compaq und Maxdata. Der Preis bei einer Abnahmemenge von 1.000 Stück liegt bei 129$. Gleichzeitig wird die Duron-Variante mit 850 MHz um 9$ billiger und kostet jetzt nur noch 111$.

Trotz Nachfragekrise bei Halbleiterprodukten ist die AMD-Aktie weiterhin gefragt. Seit Anfang des Jahres befindet sich das Wertpapier im Aufwärtstrend und konnte sich nahezu verdoppeln. Aktuell notiert die AMD-Aktie bei 26,56$.
