Was macht Centra Software?

      INVESTools: Centra Software kaufen (04.01.2001)

Quartal 2002 den Break Even Punkt überschreiten werde.

Mal sehen...

addition, another recent report, published by notable industry analyst Brandon Hall, ranked Centra`s virtual classroom application "Best in Class."

Significant growth in the size of Centra`s international
customer base, on the strength of expanded direct and indirect distribution channels. As of December 31, 2000, Centra had more than 90 customers across Europe and the Pacific Rim.

direct sales and service to customers, as well as support for our resellers, in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Austria. In the fourth quarter, Centra also announced distribution agreements with Adesoft in France, a leading provider of time management software solutions for companies and universities; Appcon, a leading distributor of eLearning solutions in Australia and New Zealand; and Micropower, a leading provider of learning solutions in Brazil.

The introduction of Centra`s innovative Knowledge Object
Studio, which provides easy-to-use tools for real-time
capture, editing, indexing, streaming, and playback of
recorded "knowledge objects" derived from live online Centra
      events and training sessions.

Centra Announces Record First Quarter Results
      LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 12, 2001--

-- Strong ROI Value Proposition Drives Demand for eLearning Solutions Worldwide --

-- Revenue Increases by 139% Year Over Year --

      --Loss Narrower Than Expected --

Centra (NASDAQ: CTRA), the world`s leading provider of software infrastructure and ASP services for live eLearning and Internet business collaboration, today announced results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2001.

Revenue for the first quarter ended March 31, 2001, was $9.1 million, a 139 percent increase over the same period last year, and an increase over the $8.3 million to $8.5 million range that the Company had expected to report for this period. Product license revenue, which accounted for 80 percent of total revenue for the quarter, was $7.2 million, a 129 percent increase over the same period last year. On a pro forma basis, excluding non-cash stock-based compensation expense and a one-time non-operating charge of $772,000, or $0.03 per share, related to losses from short-term investments, net loss for the first quarter was $2.8 million, or $0.12 per share, narrower than the Company`s anticipated pro forma net loss range of $3.4 million to $3.6 million, or $0.14 to $0.15 per share. This compares to a pro forma net loss of $3.2 million, or $0.15 per share, reported in the first quarter of 2000.

"Since Centra`s initial public offering in early 2000, the Company has consistently delivered results that exceed expectations," commented Leon Navickas, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "We achieved record revenue through a combination of new customer additions and particularly strong follow-on sales. Existing and new customers alike recognize the powerful communication platform that Centra delivers and the cost savings that can be generated through dynamic real-time collaboration features such as Web meetings, integrated voice/data-over-IP, and record-playback-archive ability."

In the first quarter, 71 new accounts signed on to use Centra`s products, bringing the total customer base to 511 and the user base to over 1.3 million. Among the customers added in the first quarter were BJ`s Wholesale Club, Central Parking, COR Therapeutics Inc., DaimlerChrysler, First Union, Hewlett-Packard, Johnson Controls, Korea Polytech, Liberty Life, Merant, Micro General Corporation, Nihorn University, Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, Southern States Cooperative, and Sprint. The average sales price for licensed software to new customers in the first quarter was approximately $130,000, a 76 percent increase over the same period last year.

Navickas added, "Looking ahead, we continue to work with our customers to maximize their utilization of our products, demonstrating increased cost-savings and a rapid return on investment, and giving our enterprise customers an advantage in an increasingly competitive marketplace. Following an initial Centra engagement, customers are seeking to expand their use of our products because of its cost and time effectiveness. Our penetrate and propagate sales strategy has created a compelling operating model that has consistently delivered gross margins in excess of 80 percent. As a result, we remain confident in our ability to achieve profitability in the fourth quarter of 2001."

      Centra Software to Acquire MindLever
      LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 12, 2001--

Integrated Product Line will be the First to Provide "Blended" eLearning Solution for Rapid Deployment of Mission-Critical Business Knowledge

Centra (NASDAQ:CTRA), the world`s leading provider of software and ASP services for live eLearning and business collaboration, today announced an agreement to acquire MindLever, a provider of management systems for learning content. Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, MindLever pioneered the first, standards-based solution for creating, storing, and delivering live and self-paced learning content in the form of personalized eLearning programs. Centra intends to integrate MindLever capabilities into its market-leading infrastructure for live eLearning and real-time collaboration, enabling customers to increase the effectiveness of their live eLearning programs with personalized and on-demand access to rich multimedia content. The terms of the cash and stock agreement were not immediately disclosed.

"Customer experience has confirmed that the most powerful and cost-effective learning strategies are the ones that blend live interactive sessions with access to self-paced, task-specific content, such as streamed recordings, simulations, and presentations," said Leon Navickas, CEO of Centra. "This combination positions Centra to define and deliver the next generation of eLearning solutions, and further underscores our commitment to help organizations achieve measurable business results through the accelerated delivery of knowledge across the extended enterprise."

      Strong, Complementary Offering

Since delivering its first product in 1997, Centra has achieved market leadership by offering comprehensive solutions to customers worldwide, helping them to achieve top-line results and rapid return-on-investment through the acceleration of key business processes such as new product introductions, software training, and customer-oriented applications. The combination of Centra`s live eLearning capabilities - including the ability to easily capture, edit, store and re-use content and interactions derived from live online sessions - with MindLever`s functionality for creating and managing content components, also known as learning objects, will enable organizations to target the appropriate mix of content and learning formats for a specific audience or business task.

"Delivering the right content in the right format is the key to eLearning success. There is an imperative market need for applications and methodologies that help to organize the development and deployment process," said Harvi Singh, MindLever Co-Founder and Chief Learning Technology Officer. "That is why content creation, management, personalization, and delivery have become such important, strategic issues in eLearning today, and why we strongly believe that the integration of Centra and MindLever products and services will create a superior solution to the challenges that many companies face today."

MindLever`s software and ASP solutions enable people to teach, learn, collaborate, assess, and organize their knowledge assets without the cost of complex IT infrastructure and support. These solutions include a set of "Composer" tools that can be used to index business content for easy retrieval, add learning-specific extensions such as testing, learning games and simulations, and output this content in industry-standard (SCORM-compliant) formats. Classified in the emerging category of Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS), MindLever functionality is highly complementary to the value delivered to organizations by Learning Management Systems (LMS), such as those from Saba and Docent, which are designed to provide enterprise-level management of users, training activities and resources.

Click2learn and Centra Integrate Flagship Learning Technologies, Expand Product Integration Program
      BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 13, 2001--

Ingenium Learning Management System Delivers, Tracks and Manages Symposium`s Virtual Classrooms; Century 21 Launches New Technology

Click2learn (Nasdaq:CLKS) and Centra (Nasdaq:CTRA) have completed the integration of Click2learn`s learning management platform, Ingenium, and Centra`s flagship virtual classroom technology, Symposium.

The move enables Click2learn and Centra clients to use Click2learn`s learning management solution, Ingenium, to deliver, track and manage Centra`s synchronous learning events -- including live, instructor-led Internet classes, focus groups and real-time peer-to-peer group sessions. By combining these industry-leading technologies, Click2learn`s integrated solution provides companies with the ability to create blended learning programs, incorporating both synchronous and asynchronous events to maximize the effectiveness of their learning initiatives.

The two companies are rolling out the seamless service to enterprise-level clients worldwide. Among the first to benefit from the integration is Century 21 Real Estate Corporation, which is using Click2learn to manage its learning programs for 100,000 real estate agents and brokers worldwide.

"Click2learn`s integration with Centra delivers unprecedented capabilities for companies seeking to manage the corporate knowledge process. Century 21 now is able to schedule, track and assess all our learning programs -- from traditional instructor-led classes, to virtual classrooms to personalized online courses -- from a single operating system," said George Selix, VP and Chief Learning Officer training for Century 21 Real Estate Corporation.

"This integration enables us to make our learning opportunities more affordable, more frequent, more accessible, and of higher quality. And we can now better track the intersection of learning and performance. Simply put, this takes knowledge management to a new level."

With the integration, Centra events can be fully incorporated into training curriculums managed by Ingenium. Besides tracking learners` attendance in Centra events, Ingenium also records students` performance in the virtual classroom, including their scores on real-time quizzes or participation in lab exercises and small group discussions.

That ability to track performance in virtual classrooms makes it possible for Centra events to be fully integrated into Click2learn`s skills assessment and certification system. Using Ingenium, companies can work with their employees to analyze an individual`s skills. From there, they can identify any gaps in the skills they need to do their current job or to advance their career, and assign specific courses to gain those skills.

In addition, Click2learn and Centra are pursuing further integration of additional learning technologies within their respective product lines.

"Enterprise-level corporations are clamoring for a single, robust solution to manage all their learning events, including everything from traditional classes, to asynchronous online courses, to live, real-time virtual classrooms. Click2learn and Centra have completed a fully integrated system that delivers it all, from a single platform," said Kevin Oakes, President and CEO of Click2learn. "Centra is a recognized leader in synchronous training -- representing nearly half of that current market -- and we`re looking forward to working with them to further integrate our solutions."

"Some of Centra`s most advanced customers have selected Click2Learn as their learning management solution," said Chris Reed, Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Centra. "The completion of the integration of Ingenium with Centra enables them to continue to innovate and provide users with a seamless solution for managing both self-paced and live e-Learning."

"This morning, Centra reported another solid quarter, raised its guidance and reiterated its profitability target of Q4:01 - an impressive position to be in given the current environment for technology companies," said Hatstadt. "Centra announced the acquisition of MindLever, a small but strategically important company in the content-management space. The deal is valued at roughly $6.5 million and is a stock-cash transaction. Final details have not yet been disclosed. While the company has raised its
guidance slightly, we believe it is prudent to hold our estimates at current levels, in light of the uncertain economic environment. Further, we are cautious about the gross margin line given, what we believe to be, an unstable pricing environment for its ASP platform. We expect the stock to be plagued by near-term volatility but view Centra as an attractive stock to own for investors looking to participate in the rapidly growing market for eLearning and knowledge solutions. Demand for its products remains strong and we believe that its expanding product line lies at the heart of the point of pain for businesses today."

University of Calgary Revolutionizes Distance Learning Program With Live eLearning Software from Centra

LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 17, 2001--Centra (NASDAQ: CTRA), the world`s leading provider of software and ASP services for live eLearning and collaboration, today announced that the University of Calgary has selected Centra for the delivery of live eLearning to students across Canada. Since 1995, the University`s Teacher Assistant Certification Program has utilized traditional teleconferencing to deliver education programs to distance learners. As the number and popularity of these courses increased, the University`s ability to meet demand using teleconference technology became more difficult, creating a significant wait list for attendance. Turning to the integrated, voice-over-IP and shared workspace capabilities of Centra`s virtual classroom software earlier this year, the University of Calgary has been able to address demand, reduce the wait list, and expand its distance education programs and services.

Since adopting Centra Symposium(TM), University instructors have observed that online group interactions made possible by Centra are extremely useful given that many students reside in remote villages and small towns throughout Alberta and the NorthWest Territory. In addition to integrated IP audio, Centra provides easy-to-use tools for sharing content and applications, allowing educational assistants to communicate and share knowledge effectively with other students regardless of location. Unlike traditional teleconferencing technologies, Centra also gives instructors the ability to immediately detect and respond to specific student needs and concerns, and interact in a confidential manner to resolve them online.

According to Shelley Griffen-Hein, a University of Calgary online student, "Centra`s online virtual classroom allows me to attend class from the privacy of my living room using my PC dialed into a Centra server. Working from home enables me to concentrate more on what is being taught, and less on the external interruptions that can distract you in a physical setting."

The University of Calgary`s Teacher Assistant Certificate Program has immediate plans to shift all of its program courses into an online environment powered by Centra. According to Program Specialist, Jodie Retzlaff, "We are cultivating a growing body of students from all over Alberta and hope to include British Columbia and Saskatchewan over the next two years. With Centra, we can easily accommodate this growth without sacrificing the quality of education we deliver."

Software Infrastructure for Live eLearning and Collaboration

Already used in over 500 companies and universities worldwide, Centra`s Web-based enterprise products and services share a common collaboration framework, and are optimized to address the full range of real-time business interactions necessary to accelerate internal and market-facing business processes. Every product features Centra`s hallmark voice-over-IP capabilities, shared online workspace, and intuitive user interface to enable live conversation and interaction over low-bandwidth network connections. Centra`s products include Centra Symposium for virtual classrooms, Centra Conference(TM) for Web conferencing and large-scale events, and Centra eMeeting(TM) for online meetings and team collaboration.

The University of Calgary Teacher Assistant Certificate Program

The University of Calgary has developed a unique part-time certificate program designed to increase Teacher Assistant skills and broaden their knowledge base. The nine core courses are designed to enhance Teacher Assistants para-professional development through on-the-job-training as their responsibilities change from year to year to meet the specific needs of the students in their schools. The Danish Confederation of Trade Unions Revolutionizes Member Services With Live eLearning and Collaboration Software from Centra

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 23, 2001--Centra (NASDAQ: CTRA), the world`s leading provider of software and ASP services for live eLearning and collaboration, today announced that the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions, the largest association of public and private sector trade unions in Denmark, has selected Centra`s real-time collaboration software to give their members access to information and skills on new technologies through live, Web-based training programs. As part of a special, two-year initiative to offer value-added services to their nationally dispersed membership, the Confederation will expand their use of Centra to facilitate improved communications through live, interactive Web conferences and online meetings.

The unionisation of the Danish labour market is at a very high level compared to most other European countries. It is characterized by a relatively large public sector, partly to the fact that several tasks which in other countries are handled by the private sector, are managed within the public sector in Denmark. With more than 2.8 million people in the Danish labour force today, over 85% of all wage-earners are currently affiliated with unions. And, as in other industrial countries, the service and high technology sectors have experienced gradual expansion while the number of workers in traditional industries continues to decline.

"We provide training for thousands of Union representatives each year. This training normally takes place at Union schools or Union offices, but we are experiencing an increasing demand for providing part of this training over the Internet," said Kenneth Lovholt, a representative for the Confederation of Danish Trade Unions. "Many of our participants are living very busy lives handling their jobs and families along with the position as Union representatives, and they sometimes hesitate enrolling in the week long courses. Centra helps us deliver training to them wherever they are located, and without taking them away from their jobs and families. The ability to connect with educators and fellow representatives live over the Internet is a significant advantage which in many courses will enable us to expand the learning period beyond the days the representatives are assembled."

According to Lawrence Whittle, Centra`s Vice President of Operations for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), "It is the objective of the association to protect the interests of wage-earners in this new global economy. Yet, the achievement of this goal places greater demands on trade unions at a national level to help members stay current on new technologies and business processes. By deploying Centra for live eLearning and collaboration, the Confederation has not only been able to accelerate the delivery of job-critical training, but has revolutionized its ability to communicate, collaborate, and interact with more than a million members country-wide."

Software Infrastructure for Live eLearning and Collaboration

Already used in over 500 companies and universities worldwide, Centra`s Web-based enterprise products and services share a common collaboration framework, and are optimized to address a full range of real-time business interactions. Every product features Centra`s hallmark voice-over-IP capabilities, live application sharing, an intuitive user interface, and support for rich multimedia to enable live conversation and interaction over low-bandwidth network connections. Centra`s products include Centra Symposium(TM) for virtual classrooms, Centra Conference(TM) for Web conferencing and events, and Centra eMeeting(TM) for meetings and team collaboration. Fully localized versions of Centra`s products and services are available today in Danish, French, German, Greek, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish.

I/Tech Uses Centra`s Web Conferencing ASP Service to Extend Reach and Effectiveness of Marketing and Recruitment Programs
      LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 26, 2001--

Web-Based Infrastructure for eLearning and Collaboration Provides Real-Time Knowledge Delivery Platform for E3 Learning Portal

Centra (NASDAQ:CTRA), the world`s leading provider of software and ASP services for live eLearning and collaboration, today announced that I/Tech Services, Inc., a leader in IT training and workforce development programs, will employ Centra Conference(TM) through Centra`s convenient business ASP, to deliver online information sessions in an effort to increase the effectiveness and reach of the company`s marketing and enrollment campaigns. The informational sessions, delivered live over the Internet using integrated, IP-based voice and video conferencing, are designed to answer inquiries from prospective students on programs, course hours, costs, financial aid opportunities, and the IT industry outlook.

I/Tech partners with educational institutions in the United States to provide students with the training tools and learning environments necessary to succeed in today`s competitive high technology market space. In addition to utilizing the Centra`s Web Conferencing ASP service to support informational marketing efforts, I/Tech will use Centra to power the organization`s Extended Education Environment (E3) Learning Portal, designed to deliver IT training programs online, and provide free access to virtual meeting rooms, which enable class participants to collaborate outside of the physical classroom.

"Centra Conference and the E3 Portal help us to deliver live training events through our college partners more effectively," said Jim Hemgen, Director of Education Programs for I/Tech Services. "Students can now take advantage of virtual office hours, online seminars, and other related IT training events from any location. Using the Centra Conference ASP service, we can take advantage of the benefits of live, Web-based collaboration and learning to grow our business without significant IT investments of our own."

Centra Conference is also being utilized by I/Tech`s corporate office for national product roll-outs and to conduct conference calls with college partners across the United States. Instead of traveling to over 100 meetings per year, I/Tech is now able to conduct live, interactive meetings with large groups of employees and partner liaisons over the Internet. Additionally, I/Tech`s corporate offices are using Centra Conference for internal training. With a staff of more than 65 full-time employees around the country, Centra Conference has allowed I/Tech to communicate effectively and conduct successful online training events.

Teaching Matters, Inc. Selects Centra`s Virtual Classroom Software To Extend Coaching and Professional Development Services Online
      LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 3, 2001--

@School Anytime Initiative Combines the Best of High Touch and High Tech

Teaching Matters Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering technology-related professional development services to teaching professionals, has selected virtual classroom software from Centra (NASDAQ: CTRA), the leading provider of software and ASP services for live eLearning and collaboration, to extend its consulting services online. Using the powerful, real-time collaboration features of Centra Symposium(TM), Teaching Matters is able to reach out to new clients over the Internet without sacrificing the highly interactive learning methods of its on-site training programs.

Funded through philanthropic endeavors, Teaching Matters evaluated various online technologies to meet the growing challenge of reaching new clients without significantly increasing their cost of operations. Offering integrated voice-over-IP audio conferencing, live application sharing, breakout rooms and other features for hands-on learning, all over low-bandwidth network connections, Centra was the only solution that could adequately replicate the customized and personal features of Teaching Matters` coaching and consultation programs. Through Centra`s functionality for session recording and play back, Teaching Matters is able to capture and archive live sessions for users to review at their convenience.

The innovative @School Anytime program, designed to train new teachers and principals on how to use the Internet in the classroom, was launched in February. Participants sign up for four face-to-face sessions and eight Centra delivered online sessions. To accommodate teacher`s schedules, the online follow-up sessions are scheduled at multiple times over a six-week period. Teaching Matters expects to expand use of the Centra technology to include peer-to-peer training and online support groups and to include principals and other school leaders.

According to Lynette Gustaferro, Teaching Matters` Director of Planning and Distance Learning, "One of the reasons teachers have responded so well to the @School Anytime program is that it gives them easy access to coaching and consultation services, delivered direct to their desktop, in the convenience of their own homes. Much of what makes this possible is the Centra software that enables us to accommodate the reality of a teacher`s schedule, which limits their availability for on-site training."

Software Infrastructure for Live eLearning and Collaboration

Already used in more than 500 companies worldwide, Centra`s Web-based enterprise products and services share a common collaboration framework, and are optimized to address the full range of real-time interactions necessary to accelerate internal and market-facing business processes. Every product features Centra`s hallmark voice-over-IP capabilities, robust collaboration tools, and intuitive user interface to enable live conversation and interaction over low-bandwidth network connections. Centra`s products include Centra Symposium for virtual classrooms, Centra Conference(TM) for large-scale Web conferencing and events, and Centra eMeeting(TM) for meetings and team collaboration.

      About Teaching Matters, Inc.

Teaching Matters was founded to promote excellence in teaching and learning through technology. Working with teachers and principals, Teaching Matters creates innovative lesson plans that use computers, the Internet, and other technologies. The organization has provided technology planning and professional development to more than 500 public schools across the country.

Motorola University Selects Centra to Deliver Live Expert-Led Training via the Internet
      LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 15, 2001--

Electronics Giant Speeds Time to Market for New Products, Reduces Cost of Classroom Training

The Asia Pacific Division of electronics giant Motorola (NYSE:MOT) has selected Centra (NASDAQ:CTRA), the world`s leading provider of software infrastructure and ASP services for live eLearning and collaboration, to dramatically improve return on training investments and to accelerate the introduction of new products in 14 Asian countries. Using Centra`s live virtual classroom software over the Intranet, Motorola University Asia Pacific, a subsidiary of Motorola Electronics Pte. Ltd., has been able to lower the cost of delivering hands-on product training to company employees across China, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, by virtually eliminating travel-related expenses.

Following the traditional classroom training model, Motorola would normally gather participants from around the region at a central location to attend job-critical training, or send an instructor to the various offices across Asia to conduct the training, if a local instructor was unavailable. It was also common for the company to send an expert instructor from the United States to Singapore, and have the regional participants gather there for two or three days.

Working with Pantropic Online Pte. Ltd., a leading distributor of software products in Southeast Asia and Centra`s exclusive partner in Singapore and Malaysia, Motorola University selected Centra Symposium(TM) to replicate the interactivity of a traditional classroom online. Offering integrated voice-over-IP audio conferencing, live application sharing, whiteboards, and breakout rooms, Centra enabled Motorola to deliver high quality, expert-led training to users everywhere over low-bandwidth network connections. This functionality allowed the organization to accelerate time to market, eliminate the scheduling complexities of traditional training methods, and reduce travel expenses across the region.

"One of Motorola University`s key drivers is to become a catalyst for change in support of the corporation`s business objectives. This is the reason we chose Centra for our live eLearning initiatives," said Mr. K. L. Cheah, Director of Motorola University Asia Pacific. "Using Centra to accelerate key business processes over the Intranet not only improves the bottom line by reducing costs, but ensures end-user competency on new products and skills that can directly impact customer relationships and revenues."

Software Infrastructure for Live eLearning and Collaboration

Already used in over 500 companies worldwide, Centra`s Web-based enterprise products and services share a common collaboration framework, and are optimized to address the full range of real-time business interactions necessary to accelerate internal and market-facing business processes. Centra`s products include Centra Symposium for virtual classrooms, Centra Conference(TM) for large-scale Web conferences and events, and Centra eMeeting(TM) for meetings and team collaboration.

"Centra`s groundbreaking technology is helping Motorola University contribute directly to the productivity of its employees and customers by offering them a cost-effective solution for knowledge transfer and training," said Tony Mark, President and COO of Centra. "In the current business climate, more and more global companies are turning to Centra to help accelerate business processes, improve productivity, and reduce operational costs."

Nation`s Largest Waste Management Company Embraces Leading eLearning Infrastructure to Increase Business Effectiveness and Lower Costs

Centra (NASDAQ:CTRA), the world`s leading provider of software infrastructure and ASP services for eLearning and business collaboration, today announced that Safety-Kleen, the nation`s largest industrial and hazardous waste management company, has selected Centra`s real-time collaboration software for the delivery of live, online training to its dispersed North American workforce. Using a combination of Centra`s virtual classroom and Web conferencing software products, Centra Symposium(TM) and Centra Conference(TM), Safety-Kleen is able to accelerate the delivery of job-critical information and skills to employees in 250 facilities while significantly reducing training-related travel and communications costs.

Serving more than 400,000 customers across the United States and Canada, many of Safety-Kleen`s numerous branch and facility locations are in remote areas, making on-site training programs and company presentations cost-prohibitive. Using the Intranet to facilitate the delivery of live, interactive communications, Centra`s solutions enable Safety-Kleen to interact more frequently and effectively with branch and facility locations, creating a stronger corporate community and closer links to the customer. And, by reducing the time and cost burdens of travel typically associated with classroom training, Safety-Kleen has been able to provide training to more employees and tackle issues that previously could not be addressed. Safety-Kleen offers a curriculum that averages 10 Web-based sessions per month.

"Safety-Kleen`s ability to communicate business-critical information to thousands of employees quickly is crucial to our success," said Dawn Potter, Director, Training and Development for Safety-Kleen. "With Centra, we saw an important opportunity to take many of our training initiatives online. With an estimated $60,000 saved on travel and overhead costs for one software application training course alone, Safety-Kleen has already realized an enormous return on its investment since implementing Centra last fall."

Software Infrastructure for Live eLearning and Collaboration

Already used in over 500 companies worldwide, Centra`s Web-based enterprise products and ASP services share a common collaboration framework, and are optimized to address the full range of real-time business interactions necessary to accelerate internal and market-facing business processes. Centra Closes MindLever Acquisition
      LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 2001--

Company Strengthens and Extends Collaborative eLearning Infrastructure; Raises 2001 Revenue Estimate and Reiterates Path to Profitability by End of Year

Centra (Nasdaq: CTRA), the world`s leading provider of software and ASP services for eLearning and collaboration, today announced that the Company has completed the acquisition of MindLever, a provider of management systems for learning content.

Under the terms of the agreement, Centra has acquired MindLever by issuing approximately 500,000 common voting shares and paying approximately $3.5 million in cash, including acquisition costs. The transaction is being accounted for using the purchase method. Additionally, Centra is providing revised financial guidance for 2001 and 2002 related to this acquisition.

Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, MindLever pioneered the first, standards-based software solution for creating, organizing, managing, and distributing enterprise knowledge assets. Centra intends to integrate these capabilities into its market-leading eLearning infrastructure known as CentraOne(TM), and re-introduce this product to market early next month as the Centra Knowledge Server(TM). This natural extension to Centra`s product line will uniquely complement existing capabilities for real-time eLearning and collaboration, enabling customers to increase the effectiveness of their live eLearning programs through on-demand access to rich multimedia content in the form of personalized learning programs.

"This acquisition is another step forward in our strategy to integrate key enabling technologies into a single platform for the accelerated delivery and management of knowledge across the extended enterprise," said Leon Navickas, Chairman and CEO of Centra. "We are delighted to complete this strategic acquisition and strengthen our leadership position in the eLearning category as we diversify our product set, broaden our technology resources, and create significant new up-sell opportunities."

Through this transaction, Centra adds customers such as Charles Schwab & Co., eGain Communications, Option Care, TRW, and Portal Software to its existing base of more than 500 leading corporations and universities. These companies are using learning content management strategies to address a wide range of strategic business initiatives including accelerated product introductions, improved call center support, and field sales training. Centra will continue to support them with high-quality customer care and new products and services.

In addition to an expanded customer base and strengthened product offering, Centra has added 30 employees and expects to benefit from the industry expertise of MindLever co-founders, Rajesh Rao and Harvi Singh. Rao will oversee Centra`s new Research Triangle Park division as General Manager of Operations and Product Development, and Singh will assume the role of Centra`s Chief Learning Technology Officer.

      Business Outlook

In 2002, this acquisition is expected to be accretive on a cash earnings per share basis by a minimum of $0.02 to $0.03.

For the year 2001, revenue estimates have been increased to the range of $46 to $50 million. Net loss per share for 2001, excluding non-cash stock-based compensation expense, non-cash expense items related to the acquisition and a one-time non-operating charge in the first quarter of $772,000, or $0.03 per share, related to losses on short-term investments, is estimated to be in the range of $0.38 to $0.41 per share. As previously stated, Centra expects to achieve profitability on a cash basis in the fourth quarter of 2001.

For the second quarter of 2001, the Company expects the net loss per share, excluding non-cash stock-based compensation expense and non-cash expense items related to the acquisition, to increase due to ongoing operating expenses related to the acquisition, to the range of $(0.14) to $(0.15).

Centra Participates in Conformance Testing for Next-Generation SCORM Specification at ADL Plugfest 4
      LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 30, 2001--

ADL Co-Lab Brings eLearning Leaders Together to Advance Multi-Vendor Interoperability Through Development of Industry Standards for Web-Based Learning

Centra (NASDAQ: CTRA), the leading provider of software infrastructure and ASP services for eLearning and business collaboration, today announced its participation in compliance and performance testing for the final version of SCORM specification 1.1, which is designed to advance the interoperability of technologies and content formats for Web-based learning. As a participant of the ADL Plugfest 4, taking place today through Friday, June 1 in Alexandria, Virginia, Centra will demonstrate the SCORM-compliance (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) of its enterprise solutions for real-time virtual classrooms, learning content management, and content composition.

Centra and MindLever, a company recently acquired by Centra, have been working with the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) initiative since the U.S. Department of Defense founded it in 1997. As early adopters of the SCORM specification, Centra and MindLever have been instrumental in the development and widespread adoption of open, industry standards to ensure interoperability between enterprise learning systems. Through the establishment of standards like SCORM, organizations will have far more flexibility and choices in buying content for their online learning systems - enabling them to leverage Web-based technologies and content to develop sophisticated learning programs at a much faster rate.

"Centra has been a champion of the learning standards movement and, having been the first eLearning provider to comply with all SCORM interoperability specifications, we are firmly committed to working with our industry partners and developing standards-based products to keep this evolutionary process moving forward," said Harvi Singh, Chief Learning Technology Officer for Centra. "One of the most important elements in enabling a rich, collaborative eLearning experience is giving users easy access to more learning resources and content being developed across the extended enterprise and beyond."

Through various on-site tests of interoperability and conformance, Centra and other industry vendors will participate in providing input into the final specifications for SCORM Version 1.2. This Conference represents an important opportunity to validate the SCORM specification and synchronize the evolution and convergence of commercial authoring tools, learning management systems, and Web-based courses with an evolving open-architecture.

At the Conference, Centra will demonstrate the ability of its products to:

--Output and re-use SCORM-based learning objects,
--Catalog, index, launch, and track SCORM-based learning objects,
--Import packaged, third-party content in compliance with the
Instructional Management Systems (IMS) and SCORM specifications.

      About ADL

The Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) initiative is a collaborative effort between government, industry and academia to establish a common framework that permits the interoperability of learning tools and content on a global scale. The Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Department of Labor and the National Guard have established the ADL Co-Lab as a forum for cooperative research, development and assessment of new learning technology prototypes, guidelines and specifications. After extensive cooperation with the IMS Global Learning Consortium, Inc., the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the Aviation Industry Computer-Based Training (CBT) Committee (AICC), and the Alliance of Remote Instructional Authoring and Distribution Networks for Europe (ARIADNE), ADL released SCORM Version 1.0 in January 2000. Over the past year, ADL has conducted several Plugfests with industry, academia, the military services and international standards groups to assess the viability of the initial SCORM specifications. Centra Extends eLearning Infrastructure with Powerful New Products for Content Management and Blended eLearning
      ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 2001--

Leader in Live eLearning Introduces Standards-Based Centra Knowledge Server(TM)to Facilitate Creation, Management, and Sharing of Knowledge Assets Across the Enterprise

Centra (NASDAQ: CTRA), the world`s leading provider of software and ASP services for live eLearning and collaboration, today unveiled a powerful new software solution for the capture, storage, delivery and centralized management of proprietary knowledge assets and third-party learning content.

Announced today at the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) Conference in Orlando, Centra Knowledge Server(TM) is the first standards-based learning content management system that enables organizations to personalize and re-use knowledge assets in the form of "prescriptive" learning programs - blending live events and recordings with self-paced content - to accelerate time-to-performance, lower costs, and increase revenue.

"The evolution of the knowledge-based economy, shortened product cycles, globalization, and greater demand for new skills and re-training are all factors emphasizing the importance of effective eLearning strategies in business today," said Leon Navickas, Chairman and CEO of Centra. "To optimize the value of content and knowledge, organizations need learner-focused solutions that enable the extension and re-use of critical resources. The introduction of Knowledge Server is another step forward in our strategy to integrate key enabling technologies for the accelerated delivery of knowledge across the extended enterprise."

Using Centra Knowledge Center(TM), a Web-based client interface, individuals can view their personally prescribed learning tracks and activities. Centra Knowledge Center also provides access to a searchable, online catalog of organizational learning resources - or knowledge objects - which may include documents, presentations, Web content, simulations, discussion groups, role-plays, live events and recordings. By engaging users in a series of pre- and post-activity assessments and surveys, business leaders and training professionals can tailor learning programs to each user`s knowledge gap or job requirements. Comprehensive features for tracking and reporting generate personal transcripts for each user, and can be easily integrated with the customer`s Learning Management or Human Resource Management system.

      Software Infrastructure for Blended eLearning

Already used in over 500 companies and universities worldwide, Centra`s compatible enterprise products and ASP services are developed on a robust and extensible thin-client architecture known as CentraOne(TM). In addition to offering a framework for the Centra Knowledge Server, CentraOne provides a platform for the award-winning Centra Collaboration Server(TM), which is optimized to support a full range of live, group-oriented interactions - including voice- and video-enabled virtual classrooms, Web conferences, and eMeetings - over low-bandwidth network connections.

Through the CentraOne framework, the capabilities of Centra Knowledge Server can be easily combined with Centra`s products for live eLearning and collaboration. By offering an integrated eLearning environment, organizations can increase the overall effectiveness of their eLearning programs, targeting a combination of live and self-paced learning formats and activities for each audience or business task.

"As companies move to align their corporate eLearning strategies with business objectives, there is critical pressure to deploy a solution quickly and widely," said Elliott Masie, President of The Masie Center, a leading eLearning research firm. "The ability to address a wide range of learning experiences, such as those provided by the CentraOne platform, gives an organization choices on how best to accelerate the delivery and management of knowledge for maximum business advantage."

Everyone is an Author, Leader and Learner

In addition to capabilities for continuous, blended eLearning, Centra Knowledge products empower business professionals across the organization to collaborate in the learning process as subject matter experts, teachers, and contributors. Through easy-to-use knowledge object "composer" tools available in the Centra Knowledge Center, any user can quickly create and publish editable, standards-compliant knowledge objects, surveys, FAQ`s and other Web-based content developed with familiar desktop applications such as Microsoft PowerPoint.

Using Centra`s software for real-time collaboration, individual users can also create and lead live, interactive presentations, and record them as "knowledge objects" in industry standard media formats that can be archived for later playback.

Unprecedented Support for Content and Technology Standards

Centra Knowledge Server is compliant with all of today`s popular content standards and specifications, including SCORM (Shareable Courseware Object Reference Model), AICC (Aviation Industry CBT Committee), and Microsoft LRN (Learning Resource Interchange). Through support for these industry-standard formats, Centra enables users to access, combine, and re-use knowledge objects - lowering development costs, ensuring content portability, and giving customers choices when buying content for their online learning system. Additional support for the IMS (Instructional Management System) meta-data specification streamlines the process of describing and indexing organizational learning resources in the system.

      Pricing and Availability

Centra Knowledge Server will ship later this month. Available as packaged software for on-premise deployment, server prices start at $50,000 (U.S.) with variable client pricing based on user configuration and options. Centra Knowledge Center can also be accessed by users from Centra`s full-service ASP.

Centra Knowledge Server uses standard relational databases, such as Microsoft SQL, and is compatible with leading Learning Management Systems (LMS). To facilitate planning and rapid deployment, Centra and its partners offer a complement of professional consulting and education services.

Centra Signs Partnership Agreement with AchieveGlobal, The World`s Largest Soft Skills Training Company
      ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 2001--

Centra`s eLearning Infrastructure to Power Live, Interactive Courses on MyAchieveGlobal

Centra (NASDAQ: CTRA), the world`s leading provider of software and ASP services for live eLearning and collaboration, announced today at the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) Conference in Orlando, that it has signed a partnership agreement with AchieveGlobal, the world`s largest soft skills training company.

As business partners, AchieveGlobal will standardize on Centra`s live eLearning delivery infrastructure to augment its extensive catalog of classroom and computer-based training programs with live, Web-based education programs on topics ranging from sales performance and customer service to leadership and management training.

Beginning this summer, AchieveGlobal will deliver its popular training curriculum to learners at home or in the office using Centra`s virtual classroom software to power live, instructor-led classes over the Internet. This new capability will allow AchieveGlobal to extend the breadth and depth of its offerings on MyAchieveGlobal, a site dedicated exclusively to providing Web-based training and assessment tools to customers in the form of personalized learning tracks. Later this year, AchieveGlobal plans to expand this program internationally, employing various language editions of Centra`s virtual classroom software.

"As the demand for business skills continues to grow at an unprecedented rate, we are continuously looking for new ways to increase the number of training programs we can bring to market," said Joe Trueblood, Vice President of Sales Operations for AchieveGlobal. "Our decision to become a Centra Partner was the result of an extensive evaluation of collaborative learning solutions. Our analysis proved that Centra is far-and-above the best choice for our business needs. This partnership not only shows our commitment to customers across the globe, but demonstrates our belief that live, online learning is a viable alternative to traditional classroom training methods."

Software Infrastructure for Live eLearning and Collaboration

Already used in over 500 companies and universities worldwide, Centra`s Web-based enterprise products and services share a common framework, known as CentraOne(TM). Optimized to address a full range of real-time interactions necessary to accelerate internal and market-facing business processes, every product features voice-over-IP capabilities, a shared online workspace, and intuitive user interface to enable live conversation and interaction over low-bandwidth network connections. Centra`s products include Centra Symposium(TM) for virtual classrooms, Centra Conference(TM) for Web conferences and large-scale events, and Centra eMeeting(TM) for online meetings and team collaboration. By integrating these experiences with Centra Knowledge Server(TM), a standards-based learning content management system that enables users to catalog, personalize and re-use knowledge assets - including live events, recordings, and self-paced content - organizations can increase the overall effectiveness of their eLearning programs and accelerate time-to-performance through blended eLearning strategies.

"Centra is honored to welcome AchieveGlobal to its growing ecosystem of strategic eLearning partners," said Alan May, Vice President of Strategic Alliances for Centra. "There is tremendous benefit for both of our companies and for our customers by working together to deliver education and training to business professionals - wherever they are, however they need it. Using the Internet to enable the effective delivery, measurement, and tracking of critical skills is a distinguishing factor in the achievement of organizational goals and competitive advantage."

      Hallo wolfgang2000,

Bin aufgrund Deiner
Informationen eingestiegen und bin nun etwas ratlos.

Wieviele Deiner Empfehlungen sind eigentlich im Plus?

      @akiba

First Consulting Group Drives ROI and Increases Employee Retention Through Centra-Powered eLearning Initiative
      LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 19, 2001--

Implements Unique "Knowledge Friday" Program to Accelerate Knowledge Transfer

Centra (NASDAQ:CTRA), the world`s leading provider of software and ASP services for eLearning and collaboration, today announced that First Consulting Group (FCG), a leading provider of consulting, integration and management services to healthcare and pharmaceutical firms, has standardized on Centra to power eLearning initiatives designed to lower costs and maximize the productivity of its consultants. Using Centra Symposium(TM), Centra`s enterprise-class virtual classroom application, First Consulting Group connects employees online for effective and time-efficient software application training, new hire orientation and weekly product and services updates.

According to Mark West, FCG`s Director of Professional Development, who spearheaded the Centra project, "the initial use of Centra was to enable rapid deployment of topical knowledge to our associates. Early success with the software led to our using Centra to facilitate new employee orientation. With hundreds of new hires - each year, the ability to deliver information quickly is a must." West added, "Centra is a critical component to our eLearning strategy. Capabilities for real-time application sharing, online interactivity, and integrated voice-over-IP enable us to train associates more efficiently than we could through traditional classroom methods."

      "Knowledge Fridays"

By using Centra to interact, collaborate and learn online, FCG has implemented an innovative program that gives field-based associates the unique opportunity to exchange current information with peers and subject-matter experts. Weekly Centra sessions, called "Knowledge Fridays" provide 45-minute interactive discussions on topics that range from new regulatory developments in healthcare and pharmaceutical industries to new technology and HR, training and billing procedures. FCG estimates that time critical information is distributed to associates three times faster than before. Knowledge Friday Sessions are led by practitioners and thought leaders in the company. Centra`s record and playback capabilities allow associates who cannot attend a live session the opportunity to view recorded sessions at their convenience.

      Rapid Return on Investment

To measure return on investment, FCG focused on cost reductions that resulted from eliminating travel for its learners and instructors using standard T&E rates of $380 per person, per day. Total savings were calculated assuming a conservative estimate of six training days per year per associate. Based on these numbers alone, FCG`s investment in Centra paid for itself in less than one year with a return on investment of 215%. In addition to direct cost savings, FCG realized strategic benefits from increased billings and a 1% increase in associate retention.

"During this period of significant transition in the healthcare industry, First Consulting Group has achieved strategic advantage through forward-thinking approaches in accelerating knowledge transfer while lowering the expenses related to getting the right information to the right people at the right time," said Tony Mark, President and Chief Operating Officer of Centra. "As a leader in their field, FCG provides another great example of how eLearning initiatives can be fundamentally critical to business success."

      Software Infrastructure for Blended eLearning

Used in over 500 companies, government agencies and universities worldwide, Centra`s enterprise products and services are based on CentraOne(TM), a robust and extensible thin-client architecture for eLearning and collaboration. By leveraging the core capabilities of the Web-based CentraOne platform, Centra is the only company to offer a full range of compatible eLearning and collaboration solutions - from voice-enabled virtual classrooms, Web conferences, and online meetings to powerful products for content management, personalized eLearning, and standards-compliant authoring.

      STOCK-WORLD
      Centra Software Potenzial Datum: 15.06.2001

      Kaufempfehlung Nr. 2:

      STOCK-WORLD

      Centra Software kaufen Datum: 06.06.2001

International Organization Uses Centra`s Live eLearning Platform to Deliver HIV/AIDS Education to Remote Healthcare Workers in Africa
      LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 3, 2001--

Virtual Classroom Enables Doctors and Researchers Around the Globe to Expedite the Latest Information and Training to Healthcare Professionals in Sub-Saharan Africa

Centra (NASDAQ: CTRA), the world`s leading provider of software infrastructure and ASP services for eLearning and collaboration, today announced that the International Association of Physicians in AIDS Care (IAPAC) is using Centra`s real-time virtual classroom software as a platform for the I-Med Exchange Program - an innovative initiative that brings connectivity, remote support, and delivery of HIV/AIDS education to healthcare workers across the Southern Africa region over the Internet.

As widely reported in the media, HIV/AIDS is having a catastrophic impact in Southern Africa. According to the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS, estimates suggest that up to 25 percent of the population in Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, and Swaziland is HIV positive - making this one of the most widely affected regions in the world. Even more startling, many doctors and heath professionals lack the basic skills and know-how to provide the most advanced quality care that can help mitigate suffering and prolong life.

Effective education and knowledge on how to manage HIV that can quickly be put into practice is a key element to combating the AIDS epidemic. The I-Med Exchange Program is taking the lead in bringing knowledge and training to the people who need it most, relying on Centra to help them deliver online classroom training and Web conferences to participating physicians in real-time over the Internet. Utilizing Centra`s capabilities for integrated voice over IP and high- performance over dial-up network connections, healthcare workers in remote areas of Southern Africa are able to collaborate online with world-renowned AIDS experts, exchanging ideas, sharing documents, and receiving training on the latest medical developments and therapies.

According to Dr. Shaun Conway, Executive Director for Southern Africa at IAPAC, "The use of Centra is crucial to the success of the I-Med Exchange program, which was expressly designed to bring together the best that medicine, expertise, and technology can offer and deliver it in the most effective, easy-to-use method for people that desperately need access to these resources."

The first virtual meeting using Centra in South Africa took place last month, with a task team of the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC), who, according to Conway, "were very impressed by their online experience and how incredibly easy to use the software is."

Software Infrastructure for eLearning and Collaboration

Used in over 500 companies, government agencies and universities worldwide, Centra`s enterprise products and services are based on CentraOne(TM), a robust and extensible thin-client architecture for eLearning and collaboration. By leveraging the core capabilities of the Web-based CentraOne platform, Centra is the only company to offer a full range of compatible eLearning and collaboration solutions - from voice-enabled virtual classrooms, Web conferences, and online meetings to powerful products for content management, personalized eLearning, and standards-compliant authoring. Through this integrated environment, organizations can increase the overall effectiveness of their eLearning initiatives, targeting the appropriate mix of live and self-paced learning formats and activities for each audience or strategic business task.

"One of Centra`s key advantages for customers is that we can deliver feature-rich, easy-to-use, and highly collaborative eLearning quickly over the lowest Internet connections - which makes Centra an ideal and much desired solution for users in regions with less advanced communications infrastructure," said Leon Navickas, Chairman and CEO of Centra. "We are pleased to provide technology to IAPAC, which is helping impact one of the most serious social and medical challenges facing the world population today through education and the rapid dissemination of information."

IAPAC plans to make I-Med Exchange the main AIDS information service for health workers in Sub-Saharan Africa. If successful, I-Med Exchange will bring together the knowledge and experiences of dispersed healthcare workers and researchers to create a strong and supportive connected community that can better treat the AIDS population and battle the epidemic.

"In addition to an increased number of new accounts over the first quarter of this year, we continue to harvest opportunities within Centra`s extensive installed base, which accounted for 41 percent of total revenue in the second quarter," added Navickas. "Completing the acquisition of MindLever in late April, we broadened our product portfolio, created significant new cross-sell opportunities to our existing customer base, and took another step forward in our strategy to integrate key enabling technologies into the most comprehensive platform for the accelerated delivery and management of knowledge across the extended enterprise.

"Leveraging this extended product suite and a strong cash balance, we are well positioned to pilot what we believe will be the inevitable industry consolidation driven by increased market demand for integrated eLearning solutions. We enter the balance of the year with a healthy pipeline, productive global distribution channels, and market-leading products and services that enable organizations everywhere to lower costs and improve the efficiency of their business processes. Moreover, we remain confident in our ability to reach profitability, on a pro forma basis, for the fourth quarter of 2001."

      Second Quarter Highlights

      - In late April, Centra completed the acquisition of MindLever,
a leading provider of standards-based software solutions for
capturing, organizing, managing, and distributing learning
content and proprietary knowledge assets. Under the terms of
the agreement, Centra acquired MindLever by issuing
approximately 500,000 common voting shares and paying
approximately $3.5 million in cash, including acquisition
      costs.

      - The Company announced and delivered Centra Knowledge Products
      - a suite of learning content management and authoring
products and ASP services based on MindLever technology.
Through integration of these new capabilities with Centra`s
software for live eLearning and real-time collaboration,
customers can experience the benefits of a total "blended"
eLearning platform, combining the online delivery of live and
self-paced content formats in personally prescribed and
      on-demand learning programs.

      - Leading global service firms, EDS and the education services
division of HP Europe, selected Centra`s software
infrastructure for the delivery of eLearning services to
corporate customers. They join a growing number of solution
ecosystem partners, including Cisco Systems, Microsoft,
PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Deloitte Consulting, who are
driving demand for Centra`s products and services worldwide.

      - Centra significantly expanded its distribution capabilities in
the Asia-Pacific region, signing Hong Kong-based New Modern
Technology to resell products throughout China and Taiwan. In
addition, Centra reaffirmed support for its growing
international customer base with new Italian and Danish
language editions, as well as second-generation releases of
      Kanji and Spanish.

      - AchieveGlobal, the world`s largest soft skills training
company, and Azlan, a leading pan-European IT training
company, joined the growing number of traditional "bricks and
mortar" training companies standardizing on Centra to extend
their reach to millions of new customers through
Centra-powered "clicks and mortar" business initiatives.

      Financial Outlook

Management is maintaining its previously raised target revenue for 2001 in the range of $46 million to $50 million, reflecting the acquisition of MindLever in the second quarter. Gross margins for the year are expected to remain in the range of 81 percent to 83 percent. The Company expects to report a pro forma net loss for 2001, excluding non-cash stock-based compensation expense, loss on investment and the write off of acquired in-process research and development, amortization of goodwill and other intangible assets related to the MindLever acquisition, in the range of $9.1 million to $9.5 million or $0.38 to $0.41 per share. As previously stated, Centra expects to achieve profitability on a pro forma basis (excluding items noted above) for the fourth quarter of 2001.

For the third quarter of 2001, Centra expects to report revenue in the range of $11.7 million to $12.1 million. The Company anticipates a pro forma net loss, excluding non-cash stock-based compensation expense and amortization of goodwill and other intangible assets, for the third quarter of 2001 to be in the range of $0.11 to $0.12 per share.

The above targets represent the Company`s current revenue and earnings goals as of the date of this release, and are based on current conditions. The Company does not undertake to update these targets in any way or for any reason.

In conjunction with this release, Centra will host a conference call today at 5:00 pm EDT. The call will be simultaneously Webcast over the Internet. To access the Webcast go to www.centra.com/investorrelations.

Overseas Transportation Giant APL Standardizes on Centra to Deliver Live eLearning and Collaboration to Global Workforce
      LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 2001--

Centra`s Virtual Classroom Helps APL Employees Manage, Track, and Optimize Cargo Delivery

Centra (NASDAQ:CTRA), the world`s leading provider of software and ASP services for eLearning and collaboration, today announced that APL, one of the world`s oldest and largest global container transportation companies, has selected Centra to deliver education and training to its global workforce over the Internet. With a fleet of containerships that services a broad array of routes covering the trans-Pacific, trans-Atlantic, Latin America, Asia-Europe, and intra-Asia trade lanes, timely employee education is critical in managing the movement and delivery of more than 450,000 containers deployed worldwide. Using Centra, APL delivers effective training to its dispersed workforce on job-critical sales and financial systems, and other enterprise applications such as Seibel, deployed on the desktops of more 800 sales representatives worldwide.

Beginning last year, APL began a transition from traditional training methods to online learning as a strategy for staying ahead of technology growth, globalization, and customer demand. Since completing their initial implementation of Centra`s virtual classroom software, APL has already realized enormous benefits through dramatically improved employee productivity and performance.

"With Centra, our staff have fast access to the training and knowledge they need to quickly resolve critical business issues, enhancing our ability to react swiftly to market changes and promote customer satisfaction," said Sigrid Peterson, Corporate Dean of NOL Global Campus, the corporate university of Neptune Orient Lines (NOL), APL`s parent company. "We have also been able to save hundreds of thousands of dollars in travel-related training costs. While we still actively use physical classrooms, we are able to streamline our training and reach a much larger audience more quickly - which is critical when you consider the millions of dollars at stake when delivering, tracking, and costing the time-critical transportation of goods."

Today APL is using the real-time collaboration capabilities of Centra`s comprehensive eLearning platform to connect subject matter experts with employees online, help new trainers collaborate with remote colleagues to develop course content, and more rapidly identify and correct technical and human errors over the Internet. The versatility and richness of Centra`s eLearning experience has also enabled APL to overcome significant cultural barriers and has provided opportunities to motivate employees.

"Many APL employees actively use the record and playback feature of Centra`s product to review material at their own pace. This greatly enhances our employees` understanding of business language, empowering them to communicate more effectively on the job," commented Nicole Hackman, Finance Process Manager for APL. "Centra`s technology also enables us to share the expertise of employees around the world, regardless of where they are or any access problems they might have. Next month, for example, we plan to have a woman trainer use Centra to virtually instruct employees in the Middle East on our finance and accounts receivable system."

The success of APL`s initial roll out has already generated increased demand from within the company. According to Tony Mark, President and Chief Operating Officer of Centra, this is a common theme among large organizations such as APL. "Many times, customers only realize the power that eLearning can bring to their organization after it is implemented in one department or for a particular project. The immediate success and return on investment of one business application starts a domino effect throughout the organization that leads to larger implementations. APL is a perfect example of this."
