AMNIS SYSTEMS (FORMERLY OPTIVISION) SELECTED BY DAIMLER-CHRYSLER FOR STREAMING VIDEO APPLICATION

Amnis network attached video products to be deployed for broadband communications and training

Palo Alto, Calif., April 10, 2001- Amnis Systems, Inc., (formerly Optivision, Inc.), a leading global provider of networked streaming video products, today announced that DaimlerChrysler has selected the Amnis network attached video products for use in its broadband corporate network.
The worldwide broadband network will support full motion, broadcast quality video multicasts of live or pre-recorded communications from DaimlerChrysler headquarters to multiple worldwide sites.

"We are truly impressed with the broadcast quality and network compatibility of the Amnis product line," commented Frank Brune, Director of Information Technology of DaimlerChrysler`s IT group. "So often one hears the phrase `plug and play` used incorrectly, as many network devices require significant debugging time to operate properly. But with Amnis products we achieve both IP network compatibility and broadcast quality MPEG streaming video capability in an easily configurable platform."

DaimlerChrysler has the infrastructure available to accommodate Amnis` network attached systems with its Cisco Catalyst 5000-powered network. For one of its first transmissions, DaimlerChrysler has selected a manufacturing plant in Brazil, to which the company can send management updates, education and information on how to install or assemble the company`s products.
The company will transmit multi-cast MPEG-2 streaming video to the site with the Ethernet compliant NAC(TM)-3003 live streaming server. The video streams are received at multiple locations in the plant with NAC-4001 network attached receivers, which produce video and audio outputs and distribute the signal to a series of television monitors in various manufacturing areas throughout the plant.

"We are very excited by this design win," said Michael Liccardo, President and CEO of Amnis Systems, Inc. "We are proving that streaming MPEG video over IP based enterprise networks is a viable application today, and one that is ready for major global companies to use."

Amnis Systems` network attached streaming media systems provide essential network infrastructure - hardware and software - for broadcast-quality streaming video applications. The interoperable components are optimized for network attached streaming video applications and enable enterprises to transmit, receive, play, and record live and stored video content that meets both the Motion Picture Experts Group (MPEG)-1 and MPEG-2 industry standards, without requiring costly modifications to network infrastructure.
Amnis` modular plug-and-play platform allows fast deployment and offers organizations the scalable tool they need to easily exploit the full potential of their existing broadband networks to enable a full range of collaborative multimedia applications, including distance learning, corporate communications, content distribution, e-commerce,telemedicine, and surveillance.
