Bruchteil an Strom verbraucht.
gute Stimmung gesorgt. Am 2. Mai ließ der Vorstand wissen, man stehe kurz
vor Bekanntgabe eines Vertragsabschlusses mit einem japanischen
Notebook-Hersteller.

wichtigsten Auftrag in seiner Firmengeschichte vermelden.
Transmetas Zuschlag.
Aktien, ;-)
gutes Geld damit gemacht.

Notebooks konzipierten Crusoe-Prozessor in Servern einsetzen.
Insgesamt will der
Hersteller so rund 750 Prozessoren pro Rack unterbringen, neunmal soviel

Systeme Intel-CPUs einbauen. (jk/c`t)

QuickBlade-Server sollen Transmeta-Pläne
durchkreuzen
0,13-µm-Prozess hergestellten Tualatin-Prozessoren sollen deutlich weniger
Außerdem will
man zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt auch Zwei-Prozessor-Serverchen liefern;

RLX Technologies Redefines Server Economics With Industry`s First High Density, Low Power Web Servers; Features New ServerBlade Design
Customers gain 8X density advantage - 5X-10X power savings
For Immediate Release
HOUSTON, TX, May 8, 2001 - Setting an innovative new standard for server design, density, energy efficiency and speed of deployment, RLX Technologies(TM) today announced that it is beginning shipments of its RLX System 324(TM) Web server solution. The RLX System 324 is a complete Web server solution, delivered with pre-loaded software for rapid deployment by both small Web Hosting facilities and Internet Data Centers. RLX is the first company to ship Transmeta Crusoe(TM) powered blade-type servers and the first company to ship a RLX Windows Powered Web Server solution based on the just-released Microsoft Server Appliance Kit 2.0.
RLX also announced agreements with IBM in which IBM will sell the RLX System 324 to its Internet Data Center customers and will supply components for the server, including IBM disk drives.
"We expect 2001 to emerge as the year server blades gain acceptance in the marketplace and while other hardware vendors have expressed interest in the emerging opportunity, RLX has moved quickly with the RLX System 324 Web server to address this growing demand," said John Humphreys of research firm IDC. "RLX`s management team has a history of success, and its new ServerBlade stands to make a significant mark on the industry. With its focus on Web Hosting companies and Internet Data Centers - and the fact that it alleviates the critical density and power issues facing these customers - RLX has positioned itself as a leader in the blade market."
The RLX System 324 features a unique RLX ServerBlade(TM) design that allows significantly higher numbers of servers to be installed in a single, industry standard server rack - up to 336 in a single rack. RLX engineers have designed energy efficient components around the low power, cool-running Transmeta Crusoe x86 compatible microprocessor, enabling these new servers to gain unprecedented density levels. The new RLX System 324 servers are unencumbered by the heat constraints of traditional servers and each server blade requires only 15 watts of power to operate, delivering five to ten times the power efficiency of previous products.
"The System 324 shatters today`s Web server density barriers and power usage requirements," said Gary Stimac, RLX Technologies CEO. "With our pre-loaded software solutions, our customers can have a Web server up and running in minutes. The impact of the new RLX ServerBlade design will be felt for years to come and will truly redefine server economics."
Note: For comparison purposes, today`s state-of-the-art web server is a 1U (1.75 inch high), server. A single 6-foot Data Center rack can house 42, 1U servers.
Elegant Design Innovation
o Density: 8x advantage
- Up to 24 ServerBlades in a single 3U chassis or 336 in a single rack
- Up to 20 Terabytes of primary storage per server rack
- Three Fast Ethernet connections per server blade
o Power Savings: 5x - 10x advantage
- Under the most demanding applications, each ServerBlade uses only 15 Watts versus 75 Watt requirements of traditional 1U servers
- Up to 80% less heat generated, reducing HVAC needs
- Up to 80% less power consumed
o Rapid Deployment: Customers add servers in minutes vs. hours or days
- Pre-loaded, Web server software: either RLX Windows Powered Web Server or RLX Linux Web Server
- Hot plug server design, and no tools required to add servers
- End-user Web administration tool
o Easy To Manage and Maintain: enabled system management
- Dedicated systems management network
- RLX Control Towerä management software
- Hot pluggable, redundant power supplies/ServerBlades
o Reliability
- Shared resources provide fewer potential points of failure
· 18:1 fan reduction
· 2 redundant power supplies shared across 24 servers
· 12:1 reduction in cabling - only 5 cables per 24 servers
- Simple blade design
"Today`s turbulent business environment intensifies the mandate for operations efficiency," said RLX Technologies President & COO Mike Swavely. "Both small Web Hosting facilities and larger Internet Data Centers are being severely impacted by the rising cost of energy and the overhead costs associated with deploying Web server solutions for new customers. With today`s introduction, we`re empowering Web Hosting companies and Internet Data Centers to take control and reduce the economic barriers to revenue and profitability growth. Our new ServerBlade solution maximizes Web pages served per square foot, minimizes operation costs and can be rapidly deployed in minutes," Swavely noted.
"Partnering with RLX will extend IBM`s range of offerings to our customers in the service provider and hosting segments," said Rod Adkins, General Manager, Web Servers, IBM Server Group. "As customers build out their e-infrastructures, super dense servers are an emerging technology that promises to play a significant role in the delivery of Linux applications to our customers."
RLX Redefines Data Center Efficiencies: 8x Greater Density; 6x Lower Operational Costs; 4x More Web Pages Served Per Sq. Ft.
By understanding the economic issues and business models of Web Hosting companies and Internet Data Centers, RLX Technologies applied high density, low power engineering efforts to increase customer`s revenue and profitability without increasing their power budgets or facilities/infrastructure costs.
In projecting facility power budgets for each industry standard 42U server rack, Web Hosting facilities and Internet Data Centers typically allocate either 2,400 Watts or 5,000 Watts. Products such as the Cobalt 4i, Cobalt 4R XTR, and Compaq DL320 can physically accommodate 42 1U servers in a standard rack while the RLX System 324 can fit 336 of its individual ServerBlades in the same size rack.
Using the industry`s broadly accepted ZD WebBench Peak Request Load Measure and the assumption of a 2,400 Watt power budget project, customers gain tremendous productivity advantages, in terms of Web pages served per second within that power budget, as demonstrated below.

RLX System 324 Cobalt 4i Cobalt 4R XTR Compaq DL 320

Schaut euch mal AMD dagegen an...

Transmeta Corporation "buy" Datum: 10.05.2001

AMD AND TRANSMETA ANNOUNCE COOPERATION ON FUTURE MICROPROCESSOR STANDARDS
Transmeta Licenses Two Next-Generation AMD Technologies:
x86-6(TM) and HyperTransport(TM) Technologies
For Immediate Release
SUNNYVALE, CA -- May 25, 2001 -- AMD (NYSE: AMD) and Transmeta Corporation (NASDAQ: TMTA) today announced that they have signed licensing agreements that promote industry standards for next generation microprocessors.
Specifically, Transmeta has licensed AMD`s x86-64 technology and AMD`s HyperTransport interconnect technology for their future x86 processors and technology initiatives.
HyperTransport interconnect technology is an innovative solution that moves information faster, enabling the chips inside of PCs, networking and communications devices to communicate with each other up to 48 times faster than with existing technologies. AMD`s x86-64 technology is a straightforward approach to 64-bit computing. It builds upon the x86 instruction set, and seamlessly integrates into the current 32-bit computing and support environment. Compatible with today`s 32-bit computing environment, AMD`s x86-64 technology approach will enable enterprises to transition to 64-bit environments while preserving the billions of dollars in 32-bit hardware and software investments.
"AMD`s x86-64 instruction extensions provide the best upward compatible path for adding 64-bit address capabilities to the x86 instruction set for the PC industry, and we applaud AMD for taking leadership on this issue," said David R. Ditzel, vice-chairman and chief technology officer of Transmeta Corporation.
"We also believe that the HyperTransport interconnect technology is the right choice for the next generation input/output bus standard. By cooperating together on these technologies, customers will be the winners," added Doug Laird, executive vice president of product development of Transmeta.
"Cooperative alliances such as the one we are announcing today with Transmeta yield tremendous benefits for the entire industry," said Fred Weber, vice president and chief technical officer for AMD`s Computation Products Group. "AMD welcomes Transmeta to the group of companies adopting HyperTransport technology and we look forward to them introducing products incorporating the technology. Transmeta`s endorsement of x86-64 technology demonstrates growing support as we move toward a new industry standard for 64-bit computing. We hope others in the industry will recognize the potential rewards from this collaboration and follow our cue as we advance these new computing standards."
"Transmeta`s move to license AMD`s x86-64 technology will simplify the lives of software developers, and increases the likelihood that the x86-64 architecture will attract the software support it needs for market success," observed Nathan Brookwood, principal analyst at Insight 64 in Saratoga, CA. "Similarly, Transmeta`s decision to adopt AMD`s HyperTransport technology adds to the momentum building behind that standard, and expands the market for HyperTransport-based I/O controllers."
About AMD`s x86-64(TM) Technology
The x86-64 technology approach to 64-bit computing builds upon the x86 instruction set, one of the industry`s most proven and widely supported technologies. Old PC applications will continue to run without a performance impact and new applications can take advantage of the larger address space. AMD x86-64 technology is designed to support applications that address memories as large as 2 to the 64th power, such as high performance servers, database management systems, and CAD tools. The x86-64 technology seamlessly integrates into the current computing and support environment, and is designed to enable enterprises to deploy high performance 64-bit capable systems that build upon the billions of dollars already invested in 32-bit software.
AMD enhanced the current x86 instruction set by introducing two major features: a 64-bit extension called long mode, and register extensions. Long mode consists of two sub-modes: 64-bit mode, and compatibility mode. 64-bit mode supports new 64-bit code through the addition of eight general-purpose registers and widens them all along with the instruction pointer. It also adds eight 128-bit floating point registers. Compatibility mode supports existing 16-bit and 32-bit applications under a 64-bit operating system. In addition to long mode, the architecture also supports a pure x86 legacy mode, which preserves binary compatibility with existing 16-bit and 32-bit applications and operating systems.
About HyperTransport(TM) Technology
HyperTransport interconnect technology is a new high-speed, high-performance, point-to-point link for integrated circuits. It was developed to enable the chips inside of PCs, networking and communications devices to communicate with each other up to 48 times faster than with existing technologies. Compared with existing system interconnects that typically provide bandwidth up to 266MB/sec, HyperTransport technology`s bandwidth of 12.8GB/sec represents up to a 48-fold increase in data throughput. HyperTransport technology provides an extremely fast connection that complements externally visible bus standards like the Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI), as well as emerging technologies like InfiniBand and 10Gb Ethernet. The HyperTransport connection is designed to provide the bandwidth that the new InfiniBand and 10Gb Ethernet standards require to communicate with memory and system components inside of next-generation servers and devices that may power the backbone infrastructure of the telecom industry.

Transmeta Corporation Updates Second Quarter 2001 Financial
Outlook
For Immediate Release
SANTA CLARA, California (June 20, 2001) — Transmeta Corporation (Nasdaq: TMTA) today announced
that it is updating its outlook for its financial performance for the second quarter ending June 30, 2001.
"We have achieved new design wins this quarter with key companies in our target markets including
Toshiba, Sharp and RLX, and we`ve seen continued introductions of Crusoe-based notebooks into the
U.S. and Europe. However, we are also seeing reductions in unit volume shipments to major customers
this quarter," said Mark K. Allen, President and CEO of Transmeta. "Our business is presently based
primarily in Japan, which now appears to be experiencing the economic weakness that affected other
parts of the world earlier this year. Accordingly, we are decreasing our revenue expectation for the second
quarter of 2001 by 40-45 percent compared with our revenue of $18.6 million for the first quarter of 2001."
"In conjunction with this projected revenue decrease and our planned transition to a new manufacturing
process for the second half of 2001 using 0.13 micron technology, we are also analyzing our inventory
levels of existing products and expect that we will take an inventory charge during the second quarter."
"We remain committed to the continued deployment of our family of Crusoe microprocessors targeted at
the notebook and Internet appliance segments of the Mobile Internet Computer market, as well as
ultra-dense, low power servers." Said Allen, "We remain committed to the continued deployment of Crusoe
into our target markets, including mobile computing, high density, low power servers, and information
appliances. We are pleased with the market reception of our Crusoe brand and the acceptance that our
customers are experiencing in the market. We are also pleased that our major customers are actively
working with our new 0.13 micron TM5800 processor. We believe that we are well positioned to compete
effectively and resume our growth plans as the economy recovers."

+++++++

TRANSMETA INTRODUCES LOWER-POWER, HIGHER-PERFORMANCE CRUSOE MICROPROCESSORS USING TSMC`S INDUSTRY-LEADING, 0.13 MICRON TECHNOLOGY
For Immediate Release
Santa Clara, California -- June 25, 2001...Transmeta Corporation (Nasdaq: TMTA) today announced new Crusoe microprocessors based on 0.13 micron technology that are up to 50 percent higher in performance and 20 percent lower in power consumption than the company`s previous generation of microprocessors.
The new Crusoe TM5800 and TM5500 microprocessors will be manufactured for Transmeta by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (NYSE: TSM) based on leading-edge, 0.13 micron process technology. TSMC is the world`s largest dedicated semiconductor foundry and provides the industry`s most advanced 0.13 micron process technology.
"Our relationship with TSMC is a key part of our strategy," said Mark K. Allen, president and chief executive officer, Transmeta Corporation. "Our confidence in TSMC has allowed Transmeta to convert 100 percent of production wafer starts to TSMC`s 0.13 micron manufacturing lines."
"In addition to our 0.13 micron logic and SRAM processes, TSMC is the first IC foundry in the world to begin volume production of a 0.13 micron high-performance CPU process," said Dr. Edward C. Ross, president of TSMC of North America. "Transmeta`s decision to use this technology for high-performance CPUs is a powerful acknowledgement of our IC industry leadership. We expect this relationship to benefit Transmeta`s customers as well as both of our companies."
The new Crusoe TM5800 and TM5500 microprocessors (512K L2 and 256K L2 cache memory respectively) provide increased performance, lower power and greater manufacturing economies than the previous 0.18 micron generation. Additionally, software-based Crusoe microprocessors gain both power and performance benefits from a new upgrade to Transmeta`s Code Morphing software. This dual level of power and performance improvement is unique to the Crusoe microprocessor due to its software-based design. The new Code Morphing software version 4.2 will be shipping in product introductions from system manufacturers in the next few months.
Crusoe microprocessors also provide state-of-the-art, on-chip double-data rate (DDR) DRAM and single-data rate (SDR) DRAM controllers. With DDR implementations, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) will have both lower power and higher performance parts. Both controllers can be used at the same time, or individually, giving Crusoe microprocessors the highest integration, richest feature set North Bridge functionality available to OEMs as they optimize performance, power and cost.
"The original Crusoe TM5600 microprocessor broke new ground for long battery life systems, and new Crusoe TM5800-based systems will raise the bar for leadership in low-power consumption and performance," said Jim Chapman, executive vice president of sales and marketing, Transmeta Corporation. "Now our customers can take advantage of Crusoe`s 0.13 micron power specifications, Code Morphing software improvements and the industry trend towards DDR memory, to build best in class systems that will lead the industry in the drive toward wireless productivity."
The Crusoe TM5800 and TM5500 microprocessors are immediately available and Transmeta expects customer product announcements based on the new chips throughout the balance of this year. The TM5800-800MHz is priced at $198 in 1,000-unit quantities. The TM5800 is also offered at 700, 733 and 766 MHz. The Crusoe TM5500 is available at 600, 667 and 733MHz. The TM5500-667MHz is available at $85 in 1,000-unit quantities. The 1GHz TM5800 is expected to be available in systems during the first half of 2002.
Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (NYSE: ASX), one of the world`s largest semiconductor packaging and test companies, will provide Transmeta with complete backend assembly and test services for the new Crusoe TM5800 and TM5500 microprocessors. The new chips will utilize ASE`s leading flip chip assembly process from wafer bumping, probing to packaging and final test.
Founded in 1995, Transmeta announced the software-based, energy-efficient Crusoe microprocessor in January 2000 and began shipping volumes to customers in September of that year. The company went public in November 2000 and less than one year after shipping its first microprocessors, a multitude of Crusoe-based notebooks, Internet appliances and ultradense servers have been introduced by major computer companies.

Klage gegen Chiphersteller Transmeta

Crusoe-Based Fujitsu Notebook Wins Best Of Show Award For All Products at TECHXNY; Two of Three Other Finalists Also Use Transmeta`s Crusoe Microprocessor
THURSDAY, JUNE 28, 2001 8:59 AM
- BusinessWire
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jun 28, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Transmeta Corporation`s (Nasdaq:TMTA) Crusoe microprocessors are inside three of the four notebooks recognized by CNET in the Best of Show category at this year`s TECHXNY (formerly PC Expo), including the Best of Show award winner, the Fujitsu FMV-Biblo Loox T.
"Transmeta`s Crusoe microprocessor continues to spur innovative notebooks," said Jim Chapman, executive vice president of Sales and Marketing, Transmeta Corporation. "This recognition of our customers` designs by CNET further validates the ultralight market segment and the notebooks coming from Japan."
Along with the winning Fujitsu notebook, the three Best of Show award finalists selected by CNET were the Crusoe-based NEC Versa DayLite, the Crusoe-based Cassiopeia Fiva MPC-206VL and the Compaq Evo Notebook N200.
In selecting four ultralight notebooks, three of which are Crusoe-based, as the only products in the Best of Show category this year, CNET stated in part: "Overall, one of the biggest trends we saw on the show floor was the prevalence and maturity of ultralight notebooks. Once a niche product for a small audience, they are now coming into their own for mainstream road warriors."

Warum wurde mein $100 thread gesperrt?
@man.
