OpenTV Solidifies Interactive Television Leadership in Asia
MANILA, Philippines--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 10, 2001--OpenTV (Nasdaq:OPTV - news; AEX:OPTV), the world`s leading interactive television and media solutions company, has been selected by Philippine Multi-Media System Inc. (PMSI) to provide PMSI`s subscribers with OpenTV`s interactive television (iTV) technology.
PMSI is the first and only digital direct-to-home (DTH) operator in the Philippines. Its DTH services, marketed under the brand name ``Dream,`` are capable of reaching the country`s 13.8 million television households, which are spread out over hundreds of islands.
``We are delighted to have the opportunity to take part in the first commercial deployment of interactive television technology in the Philippines with PMSI,`` said Jeff Brown, managing director of OpenTV Asia Pacific.
