Amnis Systems Announces Optivision`s First Quarter Revenues Up 33% Year to Year; New Customers Include MCI Worldcom, DaimlerChrysler, LG Group

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 9, 2001--Amnis Systems Inc. (OTCBB:AMNM), which has acquired Optivision, Inc., a leading global provider of networked streaming video systems, today announced that revenues for Optivision`s first quarter ending March 31, 2001 were up substantially from the same quarter last year.

Optivision`s total revenues for the first quarter were $1.33 million, a 33% increase from the same quarter last year reflecting revenue growth in all geographical areas. First quarter revenues were also up 14% from the prior quarter ending December 2000 reflecting continuing growth in the business.

"We are pleased with Optivision`s results for the first quarter as its expanded sales presence in Asia and Europe are beginning to show results. In addition, Optivision entered the second quarter with a strong backlog of orders from current and new customers," stated Michael Liccardo, Chairman, President and CEO of Amnis Systems.

Amnis Systems completed its merger with Optivision on April 16, 2001 and its financial results for the second quarter ending June 30, 2001 to be released in August 2001 will include Optivision financial data.

      First Quarter Highlights

      Expansion of Customer Base

During the first quarter, Optivision added several significant new customers. New enterprise customers include MCI WorldCom, DaimlerChrysler, LG Group, and the Tulsa Fire Department. These customers have adopted high quality streaming video as a key strategic network application for learning, training and communication functions. Optivision also continued shipments to existing customers such as Verizon, Hughes Network Systems and several unannounced accounts.

      New Product Features Added

In Q1, Optivision delivered the newest version of its LivePlayer(TM) desktop playback software. LivePlayer 1.2 allows an all-software solution for playing back high quality MPEG compliant streaming video over a broadband IP network. The software provides an easy to use user interface and installation for existing enterprise networks and enables network multicast viewing of MPEG1 or MPEG2 live streaming video for distance learning, training, telemedicine, surveillance and communications applications. In addition, it includes new integrated network and video protocol features for use in satellite delivery of video over IP to remote enterprise sites.

      Overseas Presence Intensified

In Q1, Amnis expanded its international market coverage in Europe and Asia. New sales offices were established near Munich and in Hong Kong to provide direct sales and market development focus for the European and Asia Pacific regions respectively. As a result, Optivision has signed several new system integrators which have already contributed to building a pipeline of new business opportunities in both regions. Additional customer service and support personnel are planned during calendar 2001.

Amnis Systems` network attached streaming media systems provide essential network infrastructure, hardware and software, for high quality streaming video applications. The interoperable components are optimized for network attached streaming video applications and enable enterprises to transmit, receive, play, and record live and stored video content that meets both the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG)-1 and MPEG-2 industry standards, without requiring costly modifications to network infrastructure. @ checker:

Schade .

      @xenia:

      danke für deinen offenen und "Amnis-kritischen" Diskussionsbeitrag;
      http://www.corporate-ir.net/ireye/ir_site.zhtml?ticker=PNWK.…
      9. How does Amnis Systems technology compare to Path 1`s TrueCircuit® technology?

Amnis Systems, like Minerva, Optibase, and VBrick, makes an MPEG-2 encoder + MPEG to IP encapsulator in a combined unit. The encoder that Amnis uses appears to be targeted for non-broadcast applications, as it does not appear to have the specifications that broadcasters generally require. Furthermore, while Network Computing reported that their encapsulator had better jitter tolerance than Cisco, GDC, Minerva and Optibase boxes, they do not measure whether the output MPEG-2 stream adhered to the strict 500-nanosecond jitter tolerance of the SMPTE ETR-290 specifications that broadcasters generally require. Their box also failed the duplicated packets test (see chart http://img.cmpnet.com/nc/1214/graphics/1214f2chart.pdf?ls=NC…).
An additional, but critical, measurement that was not provided was overall, end-to-end latency (or delay).

In brief, they appeared to target distance learning applications, while Path 1 has been targeting professional studio and broadcast applications, and we have developed special technology to handle these more stringent applications. Broadcasters generally have a number of constraints, such as 4:2:2 MPEG compression quality, latency of less than 1 second, and jitter of less than 500 ns, that differentiate their needs.

      Ansonsten:
"amnis eine tolle story mit hervoragenden aussichten"

kann ich von Path1 auch behaupten,
      bin aber in der Hinsicht gegenüber Path1 auch kritisch was die OTC-BB anbelangt;
I was a MM on the OTC . . ." etc.)
Schlange stehen.

Also: solange OTC . .

. .z.B. Info dazu:http://www.business2.com/articles/web/0,1653,16831,FF.html, High bei 9 us$,GMGC, WPKN: 894165), Superstory, Superaussichten, Supermeldung von Oracle dazu letzte Woche ( "Oracle Embraces Voice Technology Across All Product Lines" ) = Anstieg von ca 75 cent auf ca 1$, jetzt einige Tage später wieder bei knapp über 70 cent.

      Noch mehr Beispiele dazu?
      Micromuse,Muse,
      wird gerade abgeschlachtet,
jetzt bei knapp über 11 us§ (MK noch ca 850 mio $!)
      high bei 60 !!

Keynote (das "bessere"? Produkt zu Jyra`s, nein, das billigere)
      von ca 175
      auf jetzt 8 us$!!
