AmeriTrade sees rise in account closures - WSJ
NEW YORK, June 11 (Reuters) - Online broker AmeriTrade Holding Corp. (NasdaqNM:AMTD - news) reported a dramatic rise in the number of people closing their accounts in May, as customers appeared to balk at the company`s new maintenance fees, the Wall Street Journal reported in its online edition on Monday.

The newspaper reported that the Omaha, Nebraska-based AmeriTrade fared better in trading activity, with average trades per day showing only a modest decline.

About 12,000 customers closed their brokerage accounts last month, compared with just 5,000 in April, the newspaper reported. The attrition rage was the company`s highest since at least October 1998, the last month for which data were available.

In a bid to bolster its bottom line amid lackluster trading volumes, AmeriTrade said in April it would begin charging a quarterly fee of $15 on accounts that have less than $2,000 in total assets or make fewer than four trades in a six-month period, the newspaper reported.

Cisco to sell RealNetworks streaming software -WSJ
NEW YORK, June 11 (Reuters) - RealNetworks Inc. (NasdaqNM:RNWK - news) plans to announce on Monday that Cisco Systems Inc. (NasdaqNM:CSCO - news) will help sell its Internet audio-and-video broadcasting technology to businesses, the Wall Street Journal reported in its online edition on Monday.

Under the deal, which could strengthen RealNetworks` efforts to sign up more corporate customers to use its software, San Francisco-based Cisco will sell RealNetworks` RealSystem iQ software products -- used for ``streaming,`` or broadcasting audio and video over the Internet -- to clients such as Internet service providers and large businesses with wide-reaching corporate networks, the newspaper reported.

As part of the deal, Cisco will receive a portion of the proceeds from RealNetworks products it sells, though the companies declined to disclose further details, the newspaper reported.
