Hallo Leute,
Was meint ihr?

The live webcast, featuring four live camera feeds, will be available only as a subscription service-marking what is believed to be the first streaming entertainment content subscription package offered by a U.S. network.
CBS and RealNetworks will offer a free trial subscription immediately following Big Brother 2`s broadcast tonight that will be available through Sunday night (July 8). Effective July 9, fans may view the entire three-month broadcast run of Big Brother 2 on the official CBS Big Brother site for a one-time fee of $19.95, or they may choose to subscribe to RealNetworks` GoldPass for $9.95 per month which will feature the Big Brother 2 season, as well as exclusive RealNetworks` programming, content, games and software downloads. However, those events will be made available to subscribers via on-demand clips on the website following the live broadcast.
``The online community played such a vital role in the popularity of the first installment of this convergence television program,`` said David Katz, Vice President, Strategic Planning and Interactive Ventures, CBS. ``We are pleased to once again make `Big Brother` available to our online fans 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with an online experience that promises to be a rich, interactive companion to `Big Brother`s` three weekly broadcasts.``
``Big Brother 2 is a testament to the powerful ability of the Internet to complement and even enhance traditional media,`` said Mark Hall, vice president, Programming, RealNetworks, Inc. ``Our live, on-line subscription offering provides a richer experience for fans while enabling new ways for our partners to generate revenue. We at RealNetworks are thrilled to play such a critical role in making this happen, and excited to offer great programming from CBS to our RealPlayer Gold Pass subscribers.``
CBS/Endemol Entertainment will provide the content from the house, while Real Broadcast Network(TM) (RBN(TM)), RealNetworks` Content Delivery Network division will deliver the 24/7 live streaming webcast feed
Other components of the official Big Brother 2 website will include detailed summaries of all the events that happened during each broadcast, a live 24/7 chat room, popularity polls, opinion polls, a three dimensional tour of the Big Brother 2 house, descriptions of the week`s challenges, voting history pages, exclusive video clips, photo galleries and a houseguest section with complete profiles.
CBS.com has produced notable official websites for ``Survivor,`` ``Late Show with David Letterman`` and ``CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.``
The second U.S. edition of the one-hour reality series Big Brother premieres Thursday, July 5 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET/PT) and will continue in that time period three nights a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday) throughout the summer.

Also Ohren steif halten

RealNetworks Reports Second Quarter Results
RealNetworks` Online Subscription Services Gain Momentum as GoldPass Subscriber Base
Surpasses 300,000, as of July 10
RealNetworks Demonstrates Commitment to Universal Platform and Open Standards With Launch
of RealSystem Media Commerce Suite, Groundbreaking Platform For Secure Internet Media
Delivery and Commerce
SEATTLE, July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- RealNetworks®, Inc. (Nasdaq: RNWK - news), the global leader in Internet media
delivery, today announced results for the quarter ended June 30, 2001.
Net revenues for the quarter were $47.9 million, compared to $62.7 million in the second quarter of 2000. The Company
reported pro forma net earnings for the quarter of $2.4 million, or $0.01 per diluted share, compared to pro forma net earnings of
$10.6 million, or $0.06 per diluted share, in the second quarter last year. This was the Company`s eighth consecutive quarter of
profitable pro forma operating results and thirteenth consecutive quarter of pro forma positive cash flow from operations.
For the six-month period ended June 30, 2001, net revenues were $98.2 million, compared to $116.2 million for the comparable
period in 2000. Pro forma net earnings for the six-month period ended June 30, 2001, were $5.9 million, or $0.04 per diluted
share, compared to pro forma net earnings of $19.4 million, or $0.11 per diluted share for the same period in 2000. Including
non-cash goodwill and acquisition-related charges and certain other charges, net loss was $19.2 million, or ($0.12) per share for
the quarter, compared to net loss of $27.2 million, or ($0.18) per share for the second quarter of 2000, and $43.6 million, or
($0.27) per share, for the six month period ended June 30, 2001, compared to a net loss of $46.0 million, or ($0.30) per share,
for the six months ended June 30, 2000. Pro forma financial results exclude goodwill and acquisition-related charges, other
charges associated with an accrual for excess space and a write-down of certain equity investments, and reflect the results of
MusicNet using the equity method of accounting as if the Company`s ownership was reduced to 40% on January 1, 2001, versus
the actual date of April 2, 2001.
``In the second quarter, RealNetworks continued to execute on the strategic initiatives that have enabled us to build a proven
business model for sustainable long-term growth. We introduced a secure universal platform that will unleash the commercial
potential of the Internet media delivery, extended our leading technology to even more consumer devices, established additional
partnerships with leading content providers and developed even more innovative ways to help our partners make money through
Internet media delivery,`` said Rob Glaser, chairman and CEO, RealNetworks, Inc. ``While the current and near- term market remains challenging, RealNetworks is
strongly positioned to capitalize on the tremendous long-term growth opportunities ahead of us.``
RealNetworks` Online Subscription Services Gain Momentum
RealNetworks also announced today that RealPlayer® GoldPass(TM), the premium Internet subscription service launched by RealNetworks in August 2000, now
counts more than 300,000 paying subscribers. In March, RealNetworks signed an agreement with Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM) making
RealNetworks the exclusive platform for a broad range of MLBAM`s online services, including live audio webcasts of all MLB games.
``Based on the strong growth of our GoldPass subscriber base in just ten months, and the upcoming launch of our online music subscription service, we continue to
feel optimistic about the ability of RealNetworks to build growing, profitable subscription services on the Internet,`` said Larry Jacobson, president and chief
operating officer, RealNetworks, Inc. ``By leveraging our global base of hundreds of millions of unique, registered RealPlayer users, our technology leadership in
building a universal platform for secure Internet media delivery, and our strong relationships with leading content providers, we are in a unique position to establish a
sustainable leadership role in what we believe will become the next great communications medium.``
RealNetworks Demonstrates Commitment to Universal Platform and Open
Standards
RealNetworks continued its pioneering role in developing a universal Internet media platform with the launch in June of the RealSystem® Media Commerce Suite, a
platform offering the most complete and flexible commerce solution available for the secure licensing and delivery of digital media. Built on RealSystem iQ, the
RealSystem Media Commerce Suite enables rights holders to distribute movies, music and other digital content to hundreds of millions of unique, registered
RealPlayer users. The RealSystem Media Commerce Suite was launched with support from an array of major media companies and rights holders, and will provide
the security for MusicNet, the online music subscription platform being developed by RealNetworks, AOL Time Warner, Bertelsmann and EMI.
The RealSystem Media Commerce Suite will be based on a proposed new open XML-based language, known as the eXtensible Media Commerce Language
(XMCL), which is designed to establish industry-wide standards for Internet media commerce. XMCL will enable rights holders to bring to the Internet existing
media business models, such as rental, subscription and purchase, and take advantage of new commerce opportunities enabled by digital media. RealNetworks, in
conjunction with a host of industry leaders including Adobe, IBM, InterTrust, Sony and Sun, intends to submit the XMCL proposal to the appropriate standards
organization, and will work with other industry leaders to ensure the initiative evolves into a widely accepted standard.
``Our development of the RealSystem Media Commerce Suite and support of the XMCL initiative demonstrates RealNetworks` deep commitment to providing a
universal media delivery platform that offers both security and ease of use,`` said Rob Glaser, chairman and CEO, RealNetworks, Inc. ``The RealSystem Media
Commerce Suite will help unleash the true commercial potential of Internet media and generate tremendous benefits for rights holders and artists by providing
standard business rules for secure digital distribution.``
RealNetworks Expands Internet Media Delivery on Broad Array of Devices and
Platforms
RealNetworks reached major agreements with several device makers and network infrastructure companies in the second quarter as part of its strategy to enable
consumers to enjoy their favorite Internet media from any device and on any platform.
RealNetworks reached a strategic content networking agreement in June with Cisco Systems to incorporate RealSystem iQ within Cisco`s content networking
product family. The integration of RealSystem iQ, a robust, standards-based network media delivery system that enables peer-to-peer media delivery networking,
into Cisco`s Content Distribution Manager and Content Engine Appliances, will provide enterprise customers with a highly scalable and reliable solution for Internet
media delivery.
In May, RealNetworks announced a strategic alliance with Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. to embed RealPlayer 8 and other RealNetworks client technologies
on Sony`s PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system enabling more than 10 million users of PlayStation 2 to enjoy their favorite Internet media, including sports,
breaking news and entertainment, through RealPlayer. In June, RealNetworks announced that it will integrate RealPlayer 8 into Sony`s new eVilla Network
Entertainment Center, an easy-to-use yet powerful new non-PC device that will retail for approximately $500 and enable consumers to take advantage of the best
the Internet has to offer.
RealNetworks` Product User Base Expands in Size and International Reach
Today there are hundreds of millions of unique registered RealPlayer users and international reach continues to rapidly grow. Over the past year, the RealPlayer
unique registered user base outside of the U.S. has grown over 65%. Data from independent analysts confirms that RealPlayer continues to extend its leadership in
user reach, usage frequency and loyalty, and has increased its reach among home users to record margins over all other competing media players. Jupiter Media
Metrix reported that in May, RealPlayer was used by 29.5 million US Internet home users, a one-month increase from April 2001 of 2.3 million users. During this
same period, RealPlayer usage at work also increased to an all-time high of 11.2 million users.

This press release contains forward-looking statements that involve risks and uncertainties, including those relating to RealNetworks` ability to (a) continue its
leadership position in the streaming media and media delivery markets; (b) obtain new content and consumer acceptance for GoldPass; (c) successfully launch and
obtain customer acceptance for new initiatives such as MusicNet and RealSystem Media Commerce Suite; (d) anticipate MusicNet launch dates for RealNetworks,
AOL and Napster;(e) gain acceptance of XMCL by standards organizations, rights holders and industry participants and the benefits of the RealSystem Media
Commerce Suite to rights holders and artists; and (f) plan uses of RealNetworks` technologies by RealNetworks` partners. Actual results may differ materially from
the results predicted. Factors that could cause actual results to differ from the results predicted include the risks associated with the development of new technologies
and the sustained adoption and use of RealNetworks technology and services by customers, factors impacting our partners` businesses that may impact the timing of
their adoption of or their use of our technologies or the launch of the MusicNet platform, the lack of predictability of the actions of standards organizations,
competitive risks and the risks associated with macroeconomic trends. More information about potential risk factors that could affect RealNetworks` business and
financial results is included in RealNetworks` annual report on Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2000, and from time to time in other reports filed by

The Company
reported pro forma net earnings for the quarter of $2.4 million, or $0.01 per diluted share, compared to pro forma net earnings of

period in 2000. Pro forma net earnings for the six-month period ended June 30, 2001, were $5.9 million, or $0.04 per diluted
share, compared to pro forma net earnings of $19.4 million, or $0.11 per diluted share for the same period in 2000. Including

the quarter, compared to net loss of $27.2 million, or ($0.18) per share for the second quarter of 2000, and $43.6 million, or
($0.27) per share, for the six month period ended June 30, 2001, compared to a net loss of $46.0 million, or ($0.30) per share,
for the six months ended June 30, 2000.

Worldwide Wireless Leaders Working With RealNetworks` Mobile Digital Media Technology
AT&T Wireless, Sonera, StarHub Mobile and Telefonica Moviles Espana Conduct Trials Using RealNetworks` Mobile Technology
SEATTLE, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- RealNetworks®, Inc. (Nasdaq: RNWK - news) today announced that worldwide mobile operators AT&T Wireless, Sonera, StarHub Mobile and Telefonica Moviles Espana are conducting wireless digital media trials using RealNetworks` technology and content over their next-generation 2.5G data networks. These data networks, using a technology called GPRS (General Packet Radio Services), allow an always-on Internet connection in addition to substantial increases in bandwidth for mobile users.
RealNetworks` mobile technology, which is based on RealSystem® iQ media delivery architecture and includes support for Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) standards, is designed to increase both customer satisfaction and revenue by satisfying consumer demand for digital audio and video services on their mobile devices. RealSystem iQ, a robust, standards-based, OS-independent, media delivery system provides the technical foundation to deliver more than 50 data types from any platform to any device. RealNetworks is in the unique position to be the only company providing wireless carriers with the end-to-end technology for deployment of commercial mobile media services complete with extensive licensed content solutions.
``We are excited to see RealNetworks, a leading media delivery technology company, turn its attention to the challenges of mobile multimedia solutions,`` said Rod Nelson, chief technology officer for AT&T Wireless. ``With RealNetworks` mobile technology, RealNetworks and its partners are moving toward support of new mobile business models and innovative service opportunities for carriers and applications providers alike. We think that RealNetworks efforts to support 3GPP standards for media content are particularly encouraging because of the carrier`s need to provide ubiquitous capabilities across the entire range of wireless devices.``
``Worldwide mobile industry leaders such as AT&T Wireless, Sonera, StarHub Mobile and Telefonica Moviles Espana understand that multimedia delivery to mobile devices is the next logical step for wireless services,`` said Daniel Sheeran, vice president, Media Systems, RealNetworks, Inc. ``Because RealNetworks` content partners already generate thousands of hours of new content every day, wireless carriers are well positioned to utilize and test this technology today and envisage the new mobile multimedia revenue businesses of tomorrow.``
``Sonera is excited about the future of mobile delivery of digital media,`` said Jukka Helin, Head of Sonera Plaza Medialab. ``We are delighted to be working with RealNetworks, as we are developing our portal towards a true multi-access service with a strong emphasis on mobile services.``
``StarHub is always on the lookout for innovative products and services to delight our customers. Video-streaming is one good example. As such, we are very excited to be amongst the first in the world to test the capability of RealNetworks` technology over our GPRS network. We look forward to cooperating with RealNetworks for this exciting technology,`` said Chan Kin Hung, vice president, StarHub Mobile.
Continuing Momentum for Mobile Media Delivery
RealNetworks launched the RealPlayer® Mobile last year with the Nokia 9210 Communicator. Since then, RealNetworks has continued to reach significant agreements with wireless industry leaders to equip mobile handsets for media delivery. Earlier this year RealNetworks formed an alliance with Symbian to offer the Symbian operating system for RealNetworks` mobile player. Additionally, RealNetworks and Texas Instruments recently announced a deepening of the agreement to fully optimize the RealPlayer Mobile on TI`s highly successful line of DSP OMAP710 and OMAP1510 processors leading to maximum performance for digital media playback on mobile devices.

Compaq PCs to Include RealNetworks Software
SEATTLE (Reuters) - RealNetworks Inc. (Nasdaq:RNWK - news) said on Wednesday Compaq Computer Corp. (NYSE:CPQ - news), the world`s No. 2 PC maker, will include its software on new computers, giving the Internet media company an important outlet to consumers as it builds steam behind its online subscription service.
New consumer PCs from Compaq will include Real`s RealOne software, which can be used for playing video and audio over the Internet as well as recording and storing music on a computer, Real`s Chief Operating Officer Larry Jacobson said.
The deal also calls for Compaq to include icons and promotions for the RealOne online subscription service, which lets users get exclusive sports, entertainment and other content for a monthly fee, Jacobson said.
Such deals with PC makers are key for Real to get its software in the hands of consumers as it competes against cross-town rival Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq:MSFT - news) for dominance in the digital media industry. Microsoft`s software, the Windows Media Player, is given a prominent place in its Windows XP (news - web sites) operating system, which ships on virtually all new PCs.
``We`ve widened the gap in terms of leadership in Internet media delivery because we`ve aggregated all this content. Through these types of arrangements we can take an even more aggressive lead through the (PC maker) channel,`` Jacobson said when asked about competing with Microsoft.
The RealOne player will also be the default software for playing CDs and MP3 music files on Compaq PCs. Moreover, an ``entertainment`` button on the Compaq keyboard will direct users to the RealOne site, Jacobson said.
``We have all this great content now with RealOne that we can use in a promotional way,`` Jacobson said. ``This is the deepest-reaching relationship we`ve ever had.``
Jacobson declined to say how many new subscribers Real hoped to get out of the multiyear deal, which includes revenue-sharing provisions with Compaq.
``Needless to say it`s a huge opportunity because if we get any sort of attach rate for our membership, that`s great,`` Jacobson said.
However, RealOne will not be shipped on new Compaqs until next March, when a final version of the software is released. In the meantime, Compaq will ship the latest versions of the RealPlayer and RealJukebox programs, Jacobson said.
