      Daten:
      Vignette (WKN 919207/ VIGN)
      Aktueller Kurs: 6,64 USD
      Marktkapitalisierung: 1,6 Mrd. USD
      EPS 2001: - 0,05 USD
      Umsatz 2001: 360-380 Mio. USD

      Aktuelle Analysteneinschätzungen:
      Robinson Humphrey (20.07.)
VIGN: upgrade from LT buy to buy - we view the recent pullback in stock as a buying opportunity for short term investors, company`s risk/reward ratio is compelling, management team has been enhanced and cost cutting initiatives have been made, company to report 2Q on July 25

      Salomon Smith Barney (24.07.)
VIGN: reit outperform / high - TGT $12; will report 2Q01 EPS after the close on 7/25; we are forecasting 2Q01 rev & EPS of $83MM & ($0.04), which is in line with consensus

      Kurzportrait

VIGN: reit hold - we are encouraged that the company is in the middle of a major turn-around, we still believe it is too early to change our view of the shares

Vignette, IBM in multimillion-dollar IRS project
(adds byline, stock price, background, additional information, quotes)
      By Ilaina Jonas

NEW YORK, Aug 27 (Reuters) - Software maker Vignette Corp. (NASDAQ:VIGN) has won a deal from IBM that could be worth up to $100 million over three years as part of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service`s massive plan to upgrade its technology, people familiar with the deal said on Monday.

Vignette has already received $18 million from International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM), the sources said. However, IBM has not yet signed a deal with the IRS as details are still being worked out, an IRS representative said.

Neither IBM nor Austin, Texas-based Vignette would comment on the matter.

Vignette and IBM will work together on one project involving IRS employee Web sites and on another to create a Web site to serve professional tax preparers, such as H&R Block, the sources said.

IBM is slated to host both sites. Vignette will supply the software used to track, tag and manage the content on Web pages.

Last month in his quarterly conference call with analysts, Vignette Chairman and Chief Executive Greg Peters said the company had signed a deal with the federal government. The deal, he said, would account for at least 10 percent of the revenue Vignette expects to generate in the third quarter

In a third deal, Vignette also will be involved with consulting firm Accenture Ltd. (NYSE:ACN), the world`s largest consulting firm, in a $33 million project announced last week to overhaul the IRS` public Web site, IRS.gov. Last year, the agency`s public Web site got 2.5 billion visits.

Accenture declined to reveal how much Vignette would be paid.

The Web site projects are part of the IRS` Business Systems Modernization program to upgrade all of its technology. Congress has given the IRS $432 million this year and is expected to kick in another $390 million for fiscal 2002. The upgrade, involving a private consortium led by Computer Sciences Corp. (NYSE:CSC), is expected to take about 10 to 15 years to complete.

PeopleSoft Inc. (NASDAQ:PSFT), also is involved in the IRS tax preparers` site, under a $10 million deal for its customer relationship management software.

The customer relationship management software will enable certified tax preparers to securely gain access to their customers` records. The site is intended to help accelerate the agency`s goal of getting more people to file electronically, said Ron Sullivan, vice president and general manager of PeopleSoft`s Federal Group.

The IRS could expand the deal with PeopleSoft as it determines how to conduct more of its business over the Web, Sullivan said.

"It`s a journey that they`re undertaking," Sullivan told Reuters. "The movement on this is a statement of intent as opposed to a final act."

Shares of Vignette traded at $7.24 a share, up 37 cent, or more than 5 percent in early morning trading on the Nasdaq. Meanwhile, IBM shares were up 29 cents, or less than a percent, to $107.28 on the New York Stock Exchange.

      So,

(as)

Industry Analyst Firm Lists Vignette as a Leading Content Management Vendor
Vignette Listed in Magic Quadrant for Broad Range of Technology, Expansive Vision
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 30, 2001--Vignette Corp. (Nasdaq:VIGN - news), the leading provider of integrated content management applications, today announced that Gartner Inc. has recognized it as a leading Web content management (WCM) provider.

Gartner, a research and advisory firm based in Stamford, Conn., recently completed its report, ``The Web Content Management Magic Quadrant for 2001,`` in which it evaluated and positioned 40 vendors in the Web content management market. Based on this analysis, Vignette secured a dominant position in the Leaders section of the quadrant.(a)

``To be listed as a leader in the Web content management market by one of the world`s top research firms is a tremendous honor and recognition of our focus on integrated Web content management applications,`` said Greg Peters, chairman and CEO of Vignette. ``Vignette was an early leader in content management, and in the past six months we`ve significantly extended the gap between Vignette and our competitors by focusing on our customers, delivering a set of comprehensive applications and achieving strong financial results in a challenging economic climate.``

In addition to releasing new versions of its comprehensive suite of content, integration and analysis applications, Vignette also achieved the following company milestones over the past several months:

In the first two quarters of 2001, Vignette significantly increased its lead over the rest of the content management market and is surpassing its competitors in the following categories: content management license revenue, international revenue, new customers and live customer sites. For example, Vignette added 51 organizations to its marquee list of customers, which includes UBS PaineWebber, Daimler-Chrysler, The Wall Street Journal and AMD. Vignette outpaced its competitors in financial performance as well with $173.8 million in revenues for the first half of the year.
With its recent launch of three packaged applications, Vignette is expanding into new markets and providing organizations with out-of-the box Internet applications that can be quickly deployed. The Vignette® Enterprise Application Portal, Vignette® Merchant Suite and Vignette® Financial Advisor Suite leverage Vignette`s content management, personalization, integration and analysis capabilities and experience in deploying Internet applications for more than 1,000 organizations around the world.
Vignette set a new standard in its market for an open, standards-based application platform after releasing the industry`s first integrated content management application suite with full support for both the Sun J2EE(tm) and Microsoft .NET application development environments. In addition, Vignette delivered early support for both market-leading application servers, BEA WebLogic and IBM WebSphere.
      (a) Gartner`s Magic Quadrant positions vendors in a particular market segment based on their vision and ability to execute that vision. Leaders are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market. Gartner does not advise enterprises to select only those firms in the Leaders segment. In some situations, firms in the Visionary, Challenger or Niche Player segments may be the right match for an enterprise`s requirements.

Gartner`s permission to quote its Magic Quadrant should not be deemed to be an endorsement of any company or product depicted in the quadrant. The Magic Quadrant is Gartner`s opinion and is an analytical representation of a marketplace at and for a specific time period. It measures vendors against Gartner-defined criteria for a marketplace. The positioning of vendors within a Magic Quadrant is based on the complex interplay of many factors. Well-informed vendor selection decisions should rely on more than a Magic Quadrant. Gartner research is intended to be one of many information sources, and the reader should not rely solely on the Magic Quadrant for decision-making.

Vignette sees third-quarter core loss, job cuts

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct 12 (Reuters) - Software maker Vignette Corp. (NASDAQ:VIGN) said on Friday it expects to post a third-quarter core loss and will cut 20 percent of its work force after the Sept. 11 attacks hurt the timing of sales and service implementation.

Vignette expects to report total revenue of $70.5 million and a core operating loss of $15.5 million and a core net loss of 5 cents per share, excluding one-time charges, for the quarter.

Core results generally exclude charges for amortization of deferred stock compensation and intangibles, purchased in-process research and development and acquisition-related and one-time charges. One-time charges in the quarter will include severance, facilities consolidation and equity investment write-downs, the company said.

Analyst third-quarter estimates range from a loss of 6 cents per share to a loss of 1 cent per share, with a mean loss of 3 cents per share, according to research firm Thomson Financial/First Call.

"As a result of the tragic events of Sept. 11, the timing of certain sales and anticipated service implementation in the past few weeks was affected," said Greg Peters, chairman and chief executive, in a statement. He also said the company is focusing on its cost structure and will cut 20 percent of its work force.
