Global Crossing is suffering from the poor economic environment and from the worse problems of the telecommunications and technology sectors. But it is holding up well against telecom and broadband peers, while reducing second half guidance - and declining to comment on 2002 - is par for the course. The market`s reaction looks harsh.

The disappointment in the second-quarter results was the lower than expected share of recurring revenues from telecoms services, and the greater share of low growth/low margin wholesale capacity sales. The proportion of data revenues - expected to drive growth - was also less than expected. Global`s revenue mix is hard to predict. Together with the grim industry outlook, this creates uncertainty over its growth prospects. Longer term, pricing pressures hang over the whole industry.

Greater uncertainty surrounding revenues, off a lower base, means that liquidity concerns again rear their head. But Global`s liquidity position looks relatively comfortable, certainly more so than its peers. Some competitors have already gone bust. Global looks well positioned, with its world network built, capital spending peaking, $2bn of cash plus its bank facility. Global now trades on about 2 times 2001 revenues, at a discount to the sector average of 2½ times, according to Deutsche Bank. Level 3 (in the middle of changing its business plan) and TyCom (which does not have a network) both trade at a premium. Global Crossing looks less exposed - though the sector is probably worth avoiding altogether.

Das letzte Tief ist vom RSI und MACD nicht mehr bestätigt worden. Daher sollte der Kurs kurzfrisig bei 5,50 den Boden gefunden haben.

Interessant ist noch der hohe Anteil geshorteter Aktien: 86 Millionen oder 10 % der Gesamtzahl. Bei einem Tagesumsatz von 10 Mio Aktien ergibt das eine Nachfrage - das Short Ratio - von fast 9 Tagen. Bei Kursen unter 5 $ dürfen Privatanleger nicht mehr shorten. Ich denke daher , daß der Kurs nach unten relativ gut abgesichert ist. Bei einem Short Squeeze könnte der Kurs schnell auf 10 Dollar steigen.

Global Crossing verliert Großauftrag wieder


Global Crossing ist ein führender Telekomcarrier. Das Glasfasernetzwerk des Unternehmens deckt die großen Wirtschafts- und Ballungszentren Europas, Nordamerikas und Asiens ab. Das in Bermuda ansässige Unternehmen hat heute verkündet, dass ein Auftrag, den es vom amerikanischen Verteidigungsministerium erhalten habe, zurückgezogen werden müsse.

Es habe nach Angaben von Regierungskreisen möglicherweise Form-Fehler bei der öffentlichen Ausschreibung und Vertragsschließung gegeben. Ursprünglich sollte Global Crossing im Rahmen eines drei Jahres Vertrages ein virtuelles Netzwerk zwischen den USA, Puerto Rico, Guam and anderen Standorten errichten und betreiben. Ein virtuelles Netzwerk ist ein Netzwerk, das dem Benutzer wie sein eigenes Netzwerk vorkommt und er dementsprechend einfach handhaben kann, dass aber über die Glasfaserleitungen von Global Crossing geschaltet wird und dort parallel mit anderen Daten verarbeitet wird. Das Volumen des Auftrages wurde mit bis zu 450 Mio. Dollar beziffert.

Die Aktien von Global Crossing verloren zu Handelsbeginn massiv auf im Tief 4,34 Dollar. Aktuell notieren sie wieder knapp unter der 5 Dollar Marke und damit etwa 5 Prozent leichter.

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 17, 2001--Notice is hereby given that Johnson & Perkinson has filed a class action lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, 500 Pearl Street, New York, New York, on behalf of purchasers of Global Crossings Ltd. (``Global`` or the ``Company``) (NYSE: GX - news) stock between August 13, 1998 and December 6, 2000, inclusive, against certain of the officers and directors of Global, and its underwriters Goldman Sachs & Co.; Morgan Stanley & Co.; Credit Suisse First Boston Corp.; Lehman Brothers, Inc.; Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Inc.; and Salomon Smith Barney, Inc.

The complaint alleges that defendants violated the federal securities laws by issuing and selling Global common stock pursuant to Global`s August 13, 1998 initial public offering (``IPO``) without disclosing to investors that certain underwriters, in exchange for excessive commissions, allocated Global shares to customers at the IPO price. To receive allocations at the IPO price, the underwriters` brokerage customers had to agree to purchase additional shares in the aftermarket at progressively higher prices. The requirement that customers make additional purchases at progressively higher prices as the price of Global stock increased (a practice known on Wall Street as ``laddering``) was intended to (and did) drive Global`s share price up to artificially high levels. This artificial price inflation enabled both the underwriters and their customers to reap enormous profits by buying stock at the IPO price and then selling it later for a profit at inflated aftermarket prices.

If you purchased Global securities during the class period, you may request that the Court appoint you as lead plaintiff by September 25, 2001. Bin leider noch mit 800 zu 2,20€ drin und sehe keinen Boden,nach riesigen Prozentualen Verlusten 4Tage in Folge sind meine Aktien fast nichts mehr wert.Die Frage jetzt noch raus zu 0,60€ oder nachkaufen?Habe irgendwie den Verdacht es geht noch unter 0,10€.Erst die Gewinnwarnung und dann als Krönung noch der Rausfall aus dem S&P und das alles 2Tage nachdem Goldman Sachs die Aktie emfohlen hat(Danke G.S.)der ist fast noch besser als Förtsch!
