High allocations to accruals in the AG due to burdens in the past
As a result of high accrual costs in the AG, expenditure in connection with implementing the successfully initiated restructuring measures, and consistently high costs of personnel and materials, the company generated earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of -11.7 million Euro in the first half-year 2001.
At 14.2 million Euro, revenue was also below budget during the period under review. The subsidiary companies in the USA and Southeast Asia, in particular, failed to meet revenue expectations, and have not yet reached break-even point.
As at 30.06.2001, the Group had an order volume of 19.4 million Euro on its books.
From July 2001 onwards, the Group expects the overall situation to improve noticeably. Significantly lower personnel expenditure will reduce the burden on the company by approximately 1.5 million Euro each quarter. In the course of restructuring, production was centralized in Ireland, a step that is now showing first positive results. An addi-tional inlay production line has enabled the company to increase production by cur-rently 90 % at full capacity utilization in three shifts.
