      Beitrag Nr. 1 ()
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Communications Technologies Inc. (ACT-USA) (OTC Bulletin Board: ADVC) today announced that the company`s research and development arm has successfully demonstrated the establishment of the World`s first mobile wireless phone call on a Software Defined Radio (SDR) platform using the CDMAone (IS-95B) protocol. The call was made to an off-the-shelf Qualcomm CDMA PCS handset, was processed on the company`s SpectruCell SDR base station, and perhaps most importantly, was made without the use of any protocol specific hardware or Qualcomm chipsets.

This successful demonstration is extremely significant for mobile wireless operators planning to rollout 3G (UMTS, WCDMA, IMT2000) services and other 2G (GSM, CDMA) based networks. The ability of the company`s SpectruCell SDR wireless base station to eliminate the need for Qualcomm`s CDMA chipsets to provide CDMA functionality on SDR has the potential to generate very significant savings in licensing fees for carriers seeking to roll-out 3G or 2G networks.

"Qualcomm has been reputed to have held a stranglehold on CDMA as far as network providers are concerned," said Roger May, Chairman of ACT-USA. "Until now there was no other way to provide a CDMA based service and network operators were bound to pay substantial license fees to Qualcomm for the use of their CDMA chipsets. By using a software radio technology instead of conventional hardware based network solutions, ACT`s SpectruCell SDR base station technology is able to complete these same processes in software which effectively by-passes the majority of Qualcomm`s patents on CDMA. Combined with SpectruCell`s software up-gradability, multiple protocol functionality, shared or virtual networking capability and distributed network architecture, the potential savings for network operators deciding to implement SpectruCell are extremely significant. The projected cost of a SpectruCell SDR multiple protocol wireless base station is expected to be 25% less than that of a current technology single protocol base station."

May continued, "ACT has lodged a number of patent applications over the core processes for implementing CDMA on a SDR platform. Given the shift towards SDR and the backing this exciting technology is receiving from the industry regulators like the FCC, we believe that this provides ACT-USA with a substantial asset capable of generating significant income and should position us in powerful competitive position, as other base station manufacturers seek to develop SDR base stations."

Video Clip of World First Demonstration of SDR based CDMA Support

The ACT engineers in Australia recorded the establishment of the CDMA call to a handset from the company`s SpectruCell SDR base station. It was filmed on-site at the R&D center in Melbourne, Australia and provides a demonstration of the processes for the call set up and an actual call being made to a Qualcomm CDMA PCS handset. The video can be viewed by downloading it from ACT`s web site at http://www.act-aus.net/video/scdemo.html (the video requires Quicktime 5, a download link for the program is provided on ACT`S website).

NITE is just sitting on us and holding the price back - they always have over the past few years, unless really strong
buying and volume holds them back - these are not 144 shares - I do not believe they have the shares - pure MM
manipulation. Very frustrating on such powerful news.

      Hallo Birger,

      Hallo an alle, Hallo Morchel,

RE: Shares held by Danson Partners, LLC

      NepeanGuy and all ADVC investors,

The recent Form 4 filings by Wayne Danson, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Advanced Communications Technologies, Inc. (ADVC) state that Mr. Danson currently and indirectly owns 974,316 shares of ADVC, through his association with Danson Partners, LLC.

The recent four(4) filings reflect the "acquisitions" of these shares. Mr. Danson and associates earned these shares for their past services to ADVC.

Also of note is that these, and past filings, reflect relatively few shares "disposed of" (sold) by Mr. Danson. This fact and the fact that Mr. Danson and his associates are willing to take and hold shares of ADVC in return for their work is a true vote of confidence in ADVC by a true "insider" to the workings of ADVC.

that patent and we expect to file that either Friday or Monday.

      Roger May:
I think it’s a very significant patent though, Paul, isn’t it?

      Paul Staugaitis:
It is indeed. Anybody else that is going attempt to implement CDMA on a Software Radio platform is basically going
to have to use our implementation if they are going to get the necessary cost efficiencies out of their Software Radio,
they need to get the thing profitable."

Today’s PR - SpectruCell and New SDR/FCC Regulations

ADVC related investor update as posted on PRNewswire today:

      ____________________________________________________

SpectruCell SDR In Line with New FCC Regulations for Implementing Software Defined Radio Network Technology

LOS ANGELES - October 1st, 2001-Advanced Communications Technologies today commented on the recently released FCC regulations for the implementation of software defined radio (SDR) applications into US mobile communications networks.

In March 2001, the FCC circulated a Notice of Inquiry requesting comments from key industry players on a number of issues related to software defined radios. They included the current state of SDR technology, how SDR could facilitate interoperability between radio services, how it could improve the efficiency of spectrum usage, and needed changes in the FCC equipment approval process.

ACT, long recognized as a world leader in the development of software defined radio, was as an important contributor to the FCC Inquiry. Accordingly, ACT provided the FCC with substantial information on the company`s experience with SDR applications together with other recommendations regarding the implementation of software defined radio into the US communications network marketplace.

Recently the FCC announced that it has instituted new regulations, based upon that Inquiry, that will now allow for software defined radio applications to be updated in the field via software modifications and upgrades. Previous regulations required manufacturers wanting to implement changes to the frequency, power or type of modulation for an approved transmitter to obtain a new approval for each update making it virtually impossible to take advantage of SDR`s extreme flexibility to dynamically reconfigure communications devices on-the-fly. Software defined radio is expected to be instrumental in the roll out of 3G services.

"The FCC`s support for SDR and its recent rule changes to accommodate its development and roll out in the US marketplace is a powerful confirmation of the many advantages SDR technology can offer the communications industry," said Roger May, CEO of ACT-USA. "ACT is proud to have its submission accepted by the FCC and to know that its comments have been considered to shape the new regulations for SDR deployment. The new FCC SDR regulations will provide much assistance in the implementation of the company`s SpectruCell SDR multiple protocol wireless base station into the US marketplace".

Complementing this high level support for SDR are several key announcements from the company which include an agreement for it to acquire all rights and intellectual property to the group`s SpectruCell software defined base station technology and the group`s successful demonstration of support for CDMA on the SpectruCell base station without the use of any Qualcomm chipsets. A video presentation of this world first is available at http://www.act-aus.net/video/scdemo.html The video requires Quicktime 5, a download link for the program is provided on ACT`S website).

      Hallo an alle,

Qualcomm out of the CDMA loop?
      By: Jørgen Sundgot, 26.09.01 11:59

For the first time, a CDMA call was placed using the CDMAone protocol without a Qualcomm CDMA chipset - which could mean significantly reduced costs for wireless operators.

If there`s one company that has been responsible for slowing down the development and implementation rate of wireless networks, it`s Qualcomm. Holder of numerous patents related to CDMA technology, Qualcomm has forced everyone who have wished to build wireless networks utilizing CDMA technology to pay hefty licensing fees to them - thereby effectively narrowing profit margins for wireless operators and causing a slowdown in the entire sector.

Now, however, Qualcomm might just be thrown partially out of the loop as a Advanced Communications Technologies (ACT) has announced that the company`s research and development arm has successfully demonstrated the establishment of the World`s first mobile wireless phone call on a Software Defined Radio (SDR) platform using the CDMAone (IS-95B) protocol. The call was made to an off-the-shelf Qualcomm CDMA PCS handset, was processed on the company`s SpectruCell SDR base station, and perhaps most importantly, was made without the use of any protocol specific hardware or Qualcomm chipsets.

The successful demonstration is extremely significant for mobile wireless operators planning to roll out 3G (UMTS, WCDMA, IMT2000) services and other 2G (GSM, CDMA) based networks, in that it eliminates the need for Qualcomm`s CDMA chipsets to provide CDMA functionality, and thus has the potential to generate very significant savings in licensing fees for carriers seeking to roll-out 3G or 2G networks.

By using a software radio technology instead of conventional hardware based network solutions, ACT`s SpectruCell SDR base station technology is able to complete these same processes in software which effectively by-passes the majority of Qualcomm`s patents on CDMA."

Mr. May also predicts that the projected cost of a SpectruCell SDR multiple protocol wireless base station is expected to be 25% less than that of a current technology single protocol base station, which would make the offer an attractive one for wireless operators.

However, ACT has also lodged a number of patent applications over the core processes for implementing CDMA on a SDR platform, and the company admits itself that the breakthrough positions the company in a powerful competitive position, as other base station manufacturers seek to develop SDR base stations. How the company chooses to use that power is up to them - hopefully, it will be in a manner that benefits the progress of the implementation of 2G and 3G networks.

With the worldwide marketing rights, the US arm will initially concentrate on marketing the technology in Europe, where carriers have bought radio spectrum to carry 3G mobile telephony and are building 3G mobile systems.
Another key focus will be China, tipped to be the world`s biggest mobile phone market by 2008.
For carriers, the attraction of SpectruCell is three-fold.
Multiprotocol SpectruCell base stations are expected to be 25 per cent cheaper than single transmission protocol base stations equipped with Qualcomm chips.
Also, their use does not require payment of licensing fees to Qualcomm and their software can be easily updated remotely to handle emerging mobile phone protocols.
In its Melbourne experiment on September 10, SpectruCell flawlessly handled a CDMA mobile phone call using specially developed software, ACT says.
The call was successfully routed via an Alcatel network emulator to a SpectruCell software-defined radio (SDR) base station and then to a standard Qualcomm chip CDMA handset using the CDMAone (IS-95B) transmission protocol.
ACT USA chairman Roger May says: "Using a software radio technology instead of conventional hardware-based network solutions, enables the SpectruCell SDR base station to complete processes in software, bypassing most of Qualcomm`s patents on CDMA.
"ACT has lodged patent applications over the core processes for using CDMA on SDR platforms.
"The shift towards SDR and the backing this exciting technology is receiving from industry regulators such as the US Federal Communications Commission provide ACT-USA with a substantial asset.
"It should give us a powerful competitive position as other base station manufacturers seek to develop SDR base stations," In recent months, ACT Australia has moved to boost its lead in multiprotocol base station systems.
It has signed a two-year $9 million research deal with Melbourne`s RMIT University to expand the capacity of SpectruCell to handle diverse, high-bandwidth traffic flows by developing smart antennas, digital signalling architecture and intelligent network management systems.
SpectruCell base stations, which will be commercially released early next year, will be protocol forward-and backward-compatible so they can handle existing and projected mobile phone transmission systems.
Last month, in a move to boost production of SpectruCell stations, ACT formalised a business alliance with RLM Systems, a joint venture owned by defence science firms Lockheed Martin and Tenix Australia.
RLM will initially supply 40 engineers for the project, and within 18-24 months may be supplying as many as 300 engineers.

If we chose to build in China we could hire 1600 workers for about $4,600.00 a day.
      At 12 cents per hour.
If we get orders for about 20,000 base stations a year for the next 10 years and if we make 1/3 on the mark up or about $50,000.00 per station, that would equal $1, Billion a year in profits from Basestation sales,
and if we can sell 10,000,000 remote meter readers a year for the next 10 years that alone would earn us $1.2 Billion a year in monthly fees, and If we assume we can make $50.00 per unit then that is = $500,000,000.00 a year in profits from the sales of the readers.
Total profit from meter readers sales is $500,000,000.00 per year + $1.2 Billion in monthly fees Compounded yearly. End of ten years $1.2 Billion in monthly fees X 10 = 100 million meter readers and = 1.2 Billion a Year in just monthly fees.

The Royalties from phone calls at only $10,000.00 per year per base station would equal another $200,000,000.00 per year compounded annually.
At the end of ten years we would have 200,000 base stations and if each generated only $10,000.00 in yearly fees that still is = $2Billion a year in Royalties from phone calls.

Profits from building the Basestations would equal $50,000.00 X 20,000 = $1Billion or $5.00 per share
Profits from manufacturing the remote readers 10,000,000 per year X $50.00 = Another $500 Million a year or $2.50 EPS.
Total from Meter Readers = $500 Million sales profits and $120 Million from fees compounded yearly.
First year $620, 000,000.00 second year $740,000,000.00 third year $860,000,000.00 fourth year $980,000,000.00
year six $1.100,000,000.00 year seven $1,220,000,000.00 year eight $1,340,000,000.00 year nine $1,460,000,000.00
Year Ten $1,580,000,000.00 in meter fees alone. Or $7.50 per share earnings from the monthly fees.
During the same time period we would profit $500,000,000.00 per year from the manufacturing or $2.50 EPS..

The potential for remote meter readers over the next ten years is a build up to $10.00 per share in earnings for year 10.

Basestations Building 20,000 per year = $1 Billion or $5.00 EPS
Royalties from Basestations at only $10,000,00 per year per station = $200,000,000.00 or $1.00 EPS per year
      Year Two = $2,00 EPS, 3=yr. 3 = $3.00 EPS., yr. 4 = $4.00 EPS ----- year ten = $10.00 EPS
Total Year One = $1.62 Billion or $8.10 EPS
Total Year Two = $1.74 Billion or $8.70 EPS.
Total Year Three = $1.86 Billion or $9.30 EPS
Total Year Four = $1.98 billion or $9.90 EPS.
I would like to think that these numbers are conservative due to the low royalties from calls placed on base stations.
I would think that the figures are very low and should really be at least 2 to 3 or even 4 times that amount.

And we will leave out all other product sales that may come along.
This is just one man`s opinion and the figures are not confirmed and should not be relied upon - This just a guess if all goes well.
If the numbers are close and a P/E of 20 then a stock price of $200 is conservitive. That means that the potential for this stock to rise is about 600 times higher than its current price.

Nichts!

Advanced Communications Technologies Inc. today announced that independent telecommunications experts, Gibson Quai Pty Ltd have completed a technical evaluation and review of the company`s SpectruCell software defined radio (SDR) multiple protocol wireless base station technology.

The report, which was completed over several months and required an in-depth analysis and working demonstration of the SpectruCell technology, found that the product is technically feasible and suitable for large-scale manufacture and licensing with a potential addressable market size in excess of $10 billion annually.

``Gibson Quai`s review conclusively confirms that ACT`s SpectruCell base station is a viable technology with substantial market applications``, said Roger May, CEO of ACT-USA. ``ACT is rapidly pursuing the commercialization phase of SpectruCell`s development and our achievements in respect to additional new development of the technology have increased exponentially in recent months. The assistance of Lockheed Martin subsidiary RLM Systems is especially significant in these efforts. Additionally, key patent applications, the worlds first completion of a CDMA phone call from a software defined radio using SpectruCell technology to an off-the-shelf mobile handset without the use of Qualcomm chipsets, prospective field trials and several other key events, all serve to prove that SpectruCell has unprecedented flexibility and application and is well placed to take a dominant position in the global wireless communications marketplace``.

The technical review of the SpectruCell technology was originally commissioned by one of the major investment banks in Australia earlier this year. An update of the report was recently sought by the Australian Government to validate progress and completed development milestones in connection with the $A13 million Government grant that has been awarded to Advanced Communications Technologies. This review was only recently completed and forms the basis of this latest report.

``ACT have made substantial progress in the development of the SpectruCell base station since our initial review. In particular, the company`s work on the development of a software based CDMA receiver is truly revolutionary. ACT has established itself as a leader in software defined radio technologies and this is reflected in what they have been able to achieve with the SpectruCell base station``, says Dominic Quai of Gibson Quai Pty Ltd.

Gibson Quai`s research indicates that the closest publicly known competitor to SpectruCell is AirNet. However, Gibson Quai noted that the AirNet technology is a hybrid with predominantly a hardware implementation to support GSM/EDGE protocols and that in contrast to SpectruCell, multiple protocols cannot be supported simultaneously on an AirNet BTS.

ACT`s success in SpectruCell development is complemented by its progress in establishing field trials with major mobile wireless carriers in the US, Europe and Asia.

May added, ``We have had substantial interest from numerous major carriers in all of the key markets and we are rapidly working towards finalizing agreements for field trials initially scheduled for the first half of 2002. Like Gibson Quai, many of the major global carriers have recognized the many advantages and exceptional flexibility that the SpectruCell SDR multiple protocol wireless base station can offer mobile infrastructure providers planning 3G network rollouts.``

An extract of the Gibson Quai review containing the key findings and an outline of the report`s methodology can be found on ACT`s website at http://www.act-us.net/GQreport.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow ugc noopener">http://www.act-us.net/GQreport.html .

      CEO CONFERENCE CALL

Roger May, CEO of Advanced Communications Technologies Inc will be holding a Q&A conference call for investors to discuss recent company events, including NASDAQ company merger efforts, as well as the many advances the company has made in the development and commercialization progress for the SpectruCell SDR base station. The call will be held next week with exact times and details to be provided in a press release as well as on the company`s web site http://www.act-us.net .

Advanced Communications Technologies Pursues Revenues with Automated Meter Reading and Mobile Information Manager Wireless Technologies
LOS ANGELES-October 22, 2001--Advanced Communications Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:ADVC) (ACT) today announced that it is implementing a targeted marketing campaign in the United States designed to generate revenues from sales of its Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and the Mobile Information Manager (MIM) wireless technologies.

The marketing campaign will operate from ACT`s California offices and involves the establishment of sales and distribution channels for the products, employment of key sales and marketing staff and a nationwide targeted media program. Sales of these two products will provide valuable additional revenue streams to support the company`s growth plans and the commercialization of its core product-SpectruCell, a software defined multiple protocol mobile wireless base station.

The initiation of the US campaign follows completion of successful trials of both technologies by the company`s affiliates in Australia and is designed to capitalize on the massive potential of the US marketplace. Both the technologies are proprietary to companies either owned or majority controlled by Advanced Communications Technologies.

"Our strategy has long been to use Australia as a test bed prior to marketing our technologies in the US", say Roger May, CEO of ACT. "While the residential market for the AMR in Australia is some 7 million households, in the US we can reach over 11 million households in California alone. Add to this the recent problems the US has been experiencing in terms of crippling blackouts and spiraling energy costs and you have an extremely significant opportunity for this energy management system. A similar situation exists in the case of the MIM. America`s trucking fleet numbers in excess of 20 million vehicles and each of these represents a potential customer for our technology".

As both the AMR and the MIM technologies appeal to distinctly separate markets, the campaign will be targeted towards the electrical utility and fleet transport markets respectively.

ACT`s AMR solution is a LonWorks-based device designed to allow electrical utilities to collect real-time data on their customers` power consumption over a wireless network. The AMR solution has been targeted at the residential portion of the electricity metering market with a projected installed price in the region of US$100 per household. Access to real time data and the unit`s LonWorks-based switching capabilities allows utilities to achieve massive efficiencies in power usage and accurate real time management of wholesale electricity purchasing. This ability can result in significant savings for the utility and its customers. The value of the highly innovative AMR technology has not gone unnoticed with ACT`s affiliate Australon Ltd, who supply the AMR device, recently securing field trials with major Australian-based electrical utilities.

The real world demonstration of the AMR solution provided by these trials will form an integral part of ACT`s marketing efforts in the United States and complements the existing trial of the AMR solution in place at Richmond, Australia. Importantly, and in addition to the field trials, a large multinational software integration company has expressed a high degree of interest in adopting and marketing the ACT AMR technology worldwide.

      AMR Demonstration

A demonstration of the current AMR trial, which details the advanced data collection and switching capabilities of the AMR unit can be viewed at http://www.australon.com.au/amr.html . Visitors to the site will be able to view real-time power consumption profiles for the properties serviced by the AMR unit in addition to being able to test the unit`s ability to remotely switch devices on or off via an internet connection.

      Mobile Information Manager (MIM)

Complementing the substantial sales potential of the AMR solution is ACT`s wireless MIM device. This dashboard mounted communications terminal provides an advanced interface between operators of fleet vehicles and their central control office. Offering features such as GPS tracking, engine management, voice communication and individualized software support the MIM represents a highly flexible and sophisticated means of managing fleet vehicles and operations. The MIM has also been designed to operate over a range of voice and data networks (MPT1327, TETRA, GSM, IDEN, etc).

May added, "Both these products have enormous appeal in the United States marketplace and this targeted campaign is designed to ensure we capitalize on this demand. While each of these products has its particular appeal, we know that the AMR in particular has tremendous application in California where the state has been afflicted by spiraling power charges and costly blackouts. In the case of the MIM, we see its combination of advanced features and highly competitive price point as being the key to success and initial investigations amongst US fleet vehicle operators have yielded highly encouraging results. We are confident that both these products will play a key part in generating revenues and securing returns to shareholders in the lead up to the roll out of ACT`s SpectruCell software defined base station in early 2002. We look forward to reporting positive results as the respective campaigns develop".

      June Quarter 10K Filing

The company wishes to advise that its Chief Financial Officer has indicated that the company`s June Quarter 10K will be filed by Friday October 26, 2001. It is anticipated that the company`s ticker symbol will return to ADVC shortly after the 10K is lodged with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

wie May sagt, wären große Investoren doch schon längst drin
und hätten Kurspflege betrieben. Zusätzlich kommt jetzt als
Ausweichmanöver die Sache mit AMR. Keiner der ehemaligen

Formal Patent Applications - Covering Technologies Essential for Implementing CDMA (IS-95) and CDMA2000 on an SDR Platform

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Communications Technologies Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: ADVC) (ACT-USA), today announced that Advanced Communications Technologies (Australia) Pty Ltd (ACT-Australia), has filed two key formal patent applications relating to the company`s software defined radio (SDR) multiple protocol wireless base station-SpectruCell.

The new filings cover technology that is integral to the implementation of the CDMA (IS-95) and CDMA2000 protocols on a SDR platform. More specifically they cover a method for long code generation and a software based method for implementing multi-channel quadrature modulation as used in CDMA cellular systems.

The filing of the applications consolidates the priority date established by provisional applications originally filed in Australia in late 2000. These latest applications, which confirm and update the provisional filings, were filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty, an international agreement that provides for patent protection in each of the Treaty`s 89 member countries.

"These filings are an important step towards consolidating and securing our competitive position in the global communications infrastructure marketplace," said Roger May, CEO of ACT-USA."Many of the technologies covered by these applications were utilized in ACT-Australia`s recent world-first demonstration of completing a CDMA mobile phone call on the SpectruCell SDR platform to an off the shelf CDMA handset, that was conducted without the use of Qualcomm CDMA chipsets." World First Demonstration

A video demonstration of the SpectruCell SDR base station completing a CDMA call to a Qualcomm CDMA handset in a laboratory environment can be viewed on the company`s website at http://www.act-aus.net/video/scdemo.html .

May added, "The recent initiatives by the FCC and other regulatory authorities clearly indicate that SDR based technologies are the evolving wave of the future and that they will become the primary foundation of evolving next generation (3G) mobile communications networks.

"The pressure on network providers globally, to rollout 3G infrastructure to facilitate utilization of recent multi-billion dollar 3G spectrum purchases places the company in an enviable position in relation to the expanded commercialization of the SpectruCell multiple protocol wireless base station. The commercial SpectruCell system currently being completed in Melbourne, Australia with the collaboration and assistance of the Lockheed Martin subsidiary RLM Systems, is due for initial release during the second quarter of 2002.

"ACT`s unique ability to secure the international intellectual property rights for key SDR technology, by virtue of a series of `blocking patents`, should create a powerful competitive marketing edge, thereby securing a substantial source of recurring revenue from licensing and other royalties. The company is currently planning to further strengthen its position with additional patent applications in the near future."

ACT`s other patent applications presently cover the core design of the SpectruCell software radio platform and additional methods for implementing both CDMA (IS-95) and GSM in a software radio environment. These applications will also be formally filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty in the near future using precedence dates set by ACT`s previously filed provisional patent applications. Ticker Symbol Change

The company wishes to advise interested parties that the Nasdaq - OTCBB has removed the `E` from the company`s ticker symbol and as of today the company will trade under the original symbol `ADVC`. CEO Conference Call

The company will be conducting a live conference call with its CEO, Roger May, on Wednesday 7 November, 2001 at 7pm EST to discuss recent developments and new initiatives with investors. Full details, including contact numbers will be provided by way of press release on Monday 5 November, 2001.

ADVC PR - New People at Irvine, Product Updates

SpectruCell Field Trials - New Executive Appointments Expand Sales and Technical Resources

LOS ANGELES - November 6th, 2001-Advanced Communications Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:ADVC) (ACT-USA) today announced that it has appointed Mr. Douglas Staite as Vice President of Strategic Alliances and Mr. Robert Hooper as Vice President of Network Marketing.

The appointments are directly related to the company`s recently expanded marketing and commercialisation campaign which is designed to introduce the company`s Australian developed technologies into the USA and global marketplace. The appointments will initially focus on the implementation of the company`s commercialisation strategy for its core product-SpectruCell, a software defined radio multiple protocol base station for mobile wireless networks.

New Strategic Alliances - SpectruCell Field Trials

The recent commercialisation activities for SpectruCell have involved ongoing discussions within several sectors including: several top five mobile network operators, multi-national semiconductor manufacturers and cellular wireless equipment manufacturers. Discussions with three large national carriers in the USA are progressing to the stage where field trials of SpectruCell should commence in 2002. Parallel discussions with one of the largest global semiconductor manufacturers are proceeding well and are revolving around establishing an official partnership to promote the SpectruCell wireless platform to equipment vendors worldwide as a rapid 3G application deployment solution.

Due to competitive business concerns, the corporations referred to have specifically requested that ACT-USA refrain from disclosing their identity at this time other than the fact that they are US based operators and corporations.

As negotiations with these large prospective partners in the USA proceed and field trials are planned for early 2002 deployment, it has become necessary to have high-level technical support and marketing resources on the ground in the USA as a direct liaison between the Australian based development team and the partnership engineers in the USA. To this end the appointment of Mr. Staite and Mr. Hooper brings a wealth of experience in software and telecommunications engineering and marketing to the US based operations of ACT-USA. Both executives have recently visited the Australian development centre.

      New Executives

Mr. Staite has over 30 years experience in software development and sales and for the last six years was employed as consultant to Dell Computer where amongst other software related duties he was responsible for setting up new large scale computerized manufacturing facilities in the southern states. Prior to this Mr. Staite was involved in a number of software companies where his executive roles included development and design of sophisticated software operating systems, high level contract negotiations and the establishment of sales support functions for various commercial ventures.

Mr. Hooper brings 25 years experience in international sales and senior management and specialist expertise in the manufacture and integration of advanced technical equipment and communications systems. Mr. Hooper holds the patent for the world`s first digital LAN based PBX and was most recently employed as Chief Executive Officer of Dynamic Voice Networks Inc. Mr. Hooper`s experience at Dynamic Voice Networks included the design and installation of international broadband, ATM and Frame Relay networks using both satellite and fibre technologies and the development of support services such as call traffic billing systems. Mr. Hooper also has substantial experience in the design and installation of smart building systems, LAN/WAN and softswitch technologies.

"It is a highly positive reflection of ACT`s potential that we are able to secure the services of such experienced high level executives", said Roger May, CEO of ACT-USA. "These appointments provide the perfect complement to our recently announced commercialisation activities and will help to ensure that we have the necessary executive power on-board to successfully complete our objectives. Our strategy to expand operations and commercialise our products globally is now well underway and we look forward to complementing our resources in the near future with additional new appointments".

      New Revenue Opportunities

Mr. Staite and Mr. Hooper will also be involved in the technical implementation and initial marketing efforts for the company`s Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) technology, the I-Enable Wireless Gateway, and the Mobile Information Manager (MIM) in the US market place. These products are expected to provide new opportunities for the early generation of substantial revenues prior to the commercial rollout of SpectruCell. A major multinational corporation in the back office support and integration market has recently signed a letter of intent to partner in the marketing and rollout of the AMR technology throughout its extensive world wide customer base, most likely under its own brand-name.

World First- SpectruCell - CDMA Voice Call-Two Way Support on SDR Base Station Platform

LOS ANGELES - November 14th, 2001--Advanced Communications Technologies Inc. (ACT-USA) (OTCBB:ADVC) today announced that the company`s research and development arm has successfully demonstrated the completion of the world`s first two way voice call on a Software Defined Radio (SDR) platform using the CDMAone (IS-95B) protocol. The voice call was made to an off-the-shelf Qualcomm CDMA PCS handset and was processed on the company`s SpectruCell SDR multiple protocol wireless base station. Perhaps most importantly, the call was made without the use of any protocol specific hardware or Qualcomm chipsets.

This successful demonstration complements the company`s recently demonstrated support for a CDMA data call on a SDR platform and expands the SpectruCell wireless base station`s CDMA capabilities to full two-way support for voice. Importantly in completing the voice call ACT has demonstrated the ability to combine the voice codec and CDMA chip rate processing into the SpectruCell multiple protocol wireless base station. Generally, this voice coding is not done at the base station but is conventionally conducted in separate transcoder units. Accordingly, this demonstration is a strong validation that with SpectruCell functionality, it is now technically possible to build more distributed networks through using software radio technology. The demonstration also convincingly confirms that software radio is able to handle CDMA chip rate processing and voice coding simultaneously on the same compact platform.

"ACT`s list of world`s first technical achievements continues to expand at a very rapid rate", said Roger May, CEO of ACT-USA. "These demonstrations prove that we have a viable and definitive solution for mobile carriers looking to implement CDMA and evolving 3G protocols in a SDR environment. Going forward, industry indications suggest that this will clearly be the preferred way to implement the CDMA protocol. Given that the system is software based, parameters such as the search space and user density can be easily updated in the field which gives the network operator tremendous flexibility. Existing hardware based implementations of CDMA do not provide an ability to allow for these changes without significant cost because of the potential for substantial network downtime due to the necessity for extensive hardware replacement upgrades to achieve such changes. Apart from the inherent flexibility SDR base stations will afford the mobile network operator, the fact that the SpectruCell SDR multiple protocol base station can provide this support without any Qualcomm CDMA chipsets provides significant potential to generate very substantial savings in licensing fees typically due to Qualcomm when rolling out CDMA networks".

Designed from the outset as a device capable of simultaneously supporting multiple communications protocols, ACT`s SpectruCell SDR base station will offer a myriad of cost savings and operational advantages for network operators. Perhaps most significantly, such advantages would include the ability to provide virtual or shared network support. Under this shared network configuration multiple carriers can share the one network infrastructure with the SpectruCell operating system handling multiple protocols and even different bands of spectrum all within the same base station/network infrastructure.

May added, "The potential savings expected to be generated by SpectruCell`s virtual/shared network capabilities are immense. By multiple carriers co-locating on the one SpectruCell network, individual carriers can eliminate costly duplication of network infrastructure thereby ensuring that each mobile network operators can still provide a distinctly unique SDR service with shared cell sites and infrastructure at a much lower establishment cost".

Video of World First Demonstration of CDMA Support on an SDR Platform

A video clip of the company`s latest achievement of two way CDMA voice support is available at http://www.act-aus.net/scdemo this video has been broken into four segments to aid downloading.

ACT`s original demonstration of the establishment of a CDMA data call to a handset from the SpectruCell SDR base station can be viewed in a video clip located at http://www.act-aus.net/video/scdemo.html (the video requires Quicktime 5, a download link for the program is provided on ACT`S website).

ACT has lodged numerous patent applications to protect its SpectruCell technology and has recently filed formal blocking patent applications covering the core operating system process for implementing CDMA on a SDR platform under the Patent Cooperation Treaty which provides patent protection in 89 member countries.

"Given the rapidly evolving recognition of the many advantages of SDR technology and the increasing support SDR is gaining from industry regulators like the FCC, it is becoming increasingly evident that the company is extremely well positioned to capitalize on the substantial asset of the protected Intellectual Property that is capable of generating significant income. This should place us in a "Qualcomm like model" powerful competitive position as other communications equipment and base station manufacturers seek to expand the integration of software defined radio technology into their product lines", said May.

Jason May Update for ADVC Investors

      ACT Questions and Answers
      Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the round of questions, I have abstracted the core issues and addressed them in the following:

      ACT Australia/ACT USA relationship

      - With all of the recent jostling by the ADVC Board of Directors and the new executive positions there has been a lot of conjecture about the future operations of ADVC and ACT in general that is nothing but ill-founded speculation and conjecture. The recent changes to ADVC executive positions does not affect the direction of the Australian company. Everything that was planned or in place prior to Gary Ivaska being appointed is still in place at ACT AUS and progressing as originally planned. The proposed IP transfer of the SpectruCell technology from ACT Australia to ACT USA is still progressing as per the press release announcement, and ADVC still has all of the North and South American licensing rights to the final SpectruCell product when completed.

The US operations were always envisioned as the marketing and sales operations. This is still the case. The SpectruCell development is still continuing in Australia, we are working closely with the US operations, Roger is still a director and major shareholder of ADVC. Roger has funded millions of dollars into both the US and Australian operations. We are not walking away, this is the next step in a globalisation plan. Roger has been endeavouring to step aside from the US operations for quite a while now, as evidenced by his attempts to bring in people like Gil Amelio and others. The company is getting to a stage now where it makes sense to bring in new operational people to run the US operations. Roger, and myself, are still 100% committed, we have invested a lot of money and time in this project and are not about to walk away.

In essence, this recent change allows Roger to focus more on the Australian operations with a higher level involvement in the US operations. Roger will be allowed to sleep at night and allow people on the ground in the USA to handle the day to day operations of ADVC. All of the development, strategic alliances and so forth in regard to SpectruCell are still continuing under Roger`s direct supervision.

      SpectruCell Commercialisation

      - The SpectruCell technology is still on track for commercial field trials in Q2 2002. The first production model of SpectruCell will support GSM and CDMA2000 simultaneously. I won`t go into great technical detail, but the upcoming US magazine article (Wireless Systems Design) goes into a lot more detail about capacity support, protocol support, system architecture, development tools, etc. I believe the magazine hits newsstands on December 12th.

The timeframes for field trials are directly linked to the delivery of our hardware. The SpectruCell technology can essentially be broken up into three distinct categories, hardware, middleware, and software applications.

There have been a few questions about the technical composition of SpectruCell, again there is not a lot to disclose publicly, but I have taken an excerpt from one of internal documents that gives a good technical overview of the system. This is available at http://www.act-aus.net/techoverview.pdf. Because I am posting this late in Australia, the link to the overview document will not be active until 5pm Eastern Standard Time December 6th. It is an acrobat PDF document, so you will need the acrobat viewer to read it.

      Revenue projections

      - The revenue projections from SpectruCell are not something that we would discuss in a public forum. However, if you take a look at some of the online resources to gain an insight into the total market size for basestation infrastructure, you will see that even a 1% market penetration is a very large number. The timing for revenues from SpectruCell is the 2nd half of 2002. This follows on from field trials and proving the technology.

      RLM Alliance (Lockheed Martin)

      - The RLM alliance is up and running, we have approximately 8-12 engineers working in house on the project. At this stage the work that is occurring is a combination of establishing internal processes for collaboration, defining technology integration paths and procedures into RLM, and actual development work on the project. We believe this number of RLM engineers will increase significantly in the first quarter of 2002.

The intention with the alliance with RLM has always been that when engineers roll off of the RLM JORN (over the horizon radar) project, the will come across to work on SpectruCell. This is still the case. The big jump in numbers is expected early next year (Jan/Feb) as JORN is delivered to the Australian military.

Needless to say, RLM is behind SpectruCell 100%, and is presently introducing ACT and SpectruCell to a range of opportunities in the Lockheed Martin family.

As per the alliance documentation, the relationship is a fee for service arrangement, which may be converted to an equity participation, once final agreements are completed in this regard in the near future.

      Patents

      - The patents filed by ACT are all surrounding overall software defined radio architecture (incorporating our middleware architecture) and specific software based implementations of cellular protocols and functionality. Some of the original US applications required a full application to be filed within 12 months of the priority filing date. This date occurred recently, and we filed the full applications to keep the process moving. The patent process is a long and complex one, if investors are concerned about the progress of patents, then they should do some research on the process. It is a long and complex one. The next round of new patent filings will begin to appear in late January 2002.

Maybe to bring another insight into the picture of IP protection it is worth explaining that traditionally in this field patents are used to trade with other companies to swap technologies. Patents are a last ditch effort at protecting you technology through litigation. A lot of countries worldwide do not place the same emphasis on patents as western countries.

Our philosophy at ACT is to gain IP protection both through patents, and through the design of our product. The key to our technology is the middleware (or operating system) that glues the hardware and software applications together. This is the real key to securing the future of ACT and the SpectruCell technology, not in patents and legal protection, but in the inherent nature of the product under development. The key component of the SpectruCell technology is the core operating system that is the glue between the processing hardware and application software.

The operating system is physically protected by:

      - Compiling a tailored version of the OS that is tied to only run on a specific processing farm, thus preventing a copied version of the OS running on another processor.

      - Run time keys are needed to unlock each application (Software level encryption keys to prevent copying applications).

      - The compiler needs run time keys that are provided by ACT.

Other factors protecting the SpectruCell technology include:

      - The level of domain knowledge required to reverse engineer the product makes it an inefficient process for a third party to attempt. This means that the cost of reverse engineering the product would be comparable to developing it from nothing.

      - The types of customers are not everyday general hackers. This is a high end product targeted at high end customers who are less likely to use or support illegally copied product than the everyday computer user.

      Also

      - Gilligan sent through a message asking about Lockheed using Chameleon technology and the possibility of RLM spying on us. Whilst the Chameleon technology is very good, and allows us to achieve functionality not seen elsewhere, it is just a component of SpectruCell. The broadband division of Lockheed is using the same component, because it is very good at chip rate signal processing. We are very careful about our technical disclosure, and in any case are protected by legal agreement with RLM and Chameleon.

Well I hope that starts to answer a few of your questions. I will have another post in the next day or so giving an overview of the strategic alliances we are currently constructing. I will also follow up with a post about the AMR technology and Australon. If you have any other questions I would like to hear them. Email them directly to me, jason@adcomtech.net, or give me a call in Melbourne 011 613 9672 8888.

      Hallo an alle,

      und hier die Textversion:

      Base Station Boosts Cellular Communications

      BY Cheryl Ajluni

Flanked By Hardware, Software, And Middleware, This Software-Defined, Radio-Based Platform Offers A Cost-Effective And Quick Means Of Migrating To 3G.

The migration to 3G functionality reveals a number of interesting obstacles for today`s wireless carriers, developers, engineers, equipment vendors, and network operators. How, for example, do you cost-effectively transition from a 2G or 2.5G network to a 3G one, while maintaining consistency and quality of service for cellular customers? To say the least, this has been a difficult issue to address. Work in the area of software-defined radios (SDRs) has opened the doorway to one potential solution: a base station that can dynamically support multiple cellular services or protocols. With this approach, network operators would be able to minimize changes to existing infrastructure while still providing the end user with quick access to new functionality.

While the concept of the SDR is compelling, its implementation has been slow in coming. Luckily, for today`s wireless engineers, a viable alternative has emerged. It`s based on an innovative view of the SDR, and it promises to enable rapid deployment of 3G wireless services and applications. Called SpectruCell, it hails from an Australian company called Advanced Communications Technologies (ACT).

SpectruCell is a proprietary and patent-pending SDR wireless base-station technology. A SpectruCell network is comprised of general-purpose signal-processing boards running software that defines cellular-protocol functionality. It`s deployed on an industry-standard Compact PCI platform, so operators can add or remove processing cards as needed.

A network operator might, for example, deploy a SpectruCell base station with only two or three processing cards in a cell site. As the number of customers grows, or if the operator wants to support multiple services/operators, it simply adds more processing cards. A management engine eases the burden of upgrading the hardware by eliminating the need for operator configuration. Instead, the SpectruCell operating system automatically recognizes the fact that a new card or cards are present. It just adds them to the pool of available processing power.

SpectruCell is targeted at mobile network operators and equipment vendors, wireless engineers, and application developers. In addition to supporting existing 2G and 2.5G net-works, it provides a viable migration path to 3G wireless networks, services, and applications. As a software-defined platform technology, the same SpectruCell infrastructure can support multiple protocols simultaneously. In other words, an operator can support GSM, CDMA, W-CDMA, 3G, and UMTS all on the same base station. Having such a broad customer profile will significantly reduce the cost of providing next-generation services. In fact, the network rollout cost is reduced by about 25% compared to current hard-ware base stations.

      JUST THE FACTS

SpectruCell is comprised of three main components: hardware, middleware, and software. The hardware component comprises high-speed signal-processing cards and tunable digital up-and/ or downconverters. What makes this hardware component unique is its SDR implementation. Unlike traditional SDRs, which are implemented using arrays of digital signal processors (DSPs), SpectruCell relies on a combination of DSPs and reconfigurable processors (RCPs) from Chameleon Systems ( http://www.chameleonsystems.com ). This combination culminates in an SDR platform for both chip-and symbol-rate processing

Each SpectruCell signal-processing card consists of four processing stripes. A stripe is defined as one DSP and one RCP. Every processing stripe can handle 2 Mb of data throughput, independent of the front-end air interface. The air interfaces are defined by application code that runs on each stripe. This code is managed by the SpectruCell middleware, which runs on a Linux operating system (FIG. 1). It is CORBA-based, and expands on initiatives set forth by both the JTRS and the Software Defined Radio Forum.A domain manager helps facilitate the registration of all hardware and software resources. It matches the applications to available processing resources and then loads them into the SpectruCell system.

The object-based application code, or software, that provides air-interface functionality makes up the last component of the SpectruCell system. ACT currently offers patent-pending implementation methods for cellular protocols like GSM and IS95 (CDMA) deployed on a SDR processing platform. Apart from those air-interface applications, and others like CDMA2000 and UMTS, SpectruCell supports management and billing interfaces.

As explained by Simon Cleary, Vice President of Research and Development at ACT, "An application developer may choose to develop a real-time fraud-detection application to sit at the base station. Or, as IP is pushed further out the network, more and more applications will reside in the base station. SpectruCell has been designed to facilitate this movement through the published API and development suite available in the SpectruCell SDK."

A suite of design tools currently being developed by ACT will make application development for the SpectruCell platform even easier. Included in this suite will be a simulator, emulator, reference design, high-level API, and source code. Scheduled for shipment in the first quarter of 2002, these development tools will allow application developers to focus on the higher-layer, application-specific functions of their development. They won`t have to worry about such things as the choice of operating system, device drivers, FPGA development, on-board switching integration, or digitization. All of this functionality will be supplied in SpectruCell through reconfigurable modules that the developer can include in their system-level design.

What does all of this mean? Essentially, the SpectruCell hardware takes a wide-band RF front end of 25 MHz, downconverts and digitizes it, and then feeds it into the SpectruCell processing farm. Once there, all tasks—such as linearization, filtering, and channelization—are defined in software. They may then be dynamically altered as needed (FIG. 2).

According to Jason May, ACT`s Chief Technology Officer, "Traditional hardware-defined solutions do not allow you the flexibility of, say, dynamically changing your CDMA search space once an application is deployed in the field. In this example, a solution using Qualcomm hardware-defined chip sets cannot change these characteristics once deployed. SpectruCell has been designed for this, and allows a developer to tweak their application once it is deployed."

      UNDERSTANDING ITS UNIQUENESS

There are many unique aspects to the SpectruCell offering, not the least of which is its role as a platform for seamless migration from 2G to 3G. With a flexible, software-based processing platform, cellular protocols can be uploaded to a base station as demand dictates. Because services can be deployed virtually instantaneously over existing infrastructure, operators are able to better maintain their investments. Network bugs, deployment parameters (performance tweaks), and diagnostic routines simply become software programs that can be remotely monitored, controlled, and deployed.

Wireless design engineers can use the company`s base framework as the vehicle from which to quickly deploy applications. Rather than spending time understanding the hardware subsystem, they can focus their attention on what they do best—develop software applications.

As an added benefit, the platform has been designed to focus on Quality of Service (QoS) delivery. This will become an especially crucial feature as mobile Internet Protocol (IP) services evolve. Aiding in this process is SpectruCell`s management engine, which partitions off sections of the base station to perform specific functions. Such a capability can be used to provide support for either multiple protocols or multiple network operators, the latter of which is referred to as mobile virtual-network operator (MVNO). A SpectruCell-based network can even deliver cellular services for more than one operator or spectrum licensee over more than one protocol.

      One of the main benefits of this platform is its cost effectiveness. The price of a SpectruCell-based system is comparable to competing hardware-based solutions. A fully populated Compact PCI Frame (4 IF cards, 8 signal-processing cards, 2 control cards, 1 network card, 1 management CPU) can be configured or reconfigured dynamically in one of the following ways: • 96 GSM channels (frequency reuse of 2) = 48 channels, 8 users/channel = 384 users • 16 CDMA 2000 carriers (120-Km cell size) = 16 carriers, 32 users/carrier = 512 CDMA 2000 users • 4 UMTS carriers = 4 carriers, 64 users/carrier = 256 UMTS users • 48 GSM channels (frequency reuse of 2) = 24 channels, 8 users/channel = 162 GSM users, 8 CDMA 2000 carriers (120-Km cell size) = 8 carriers, 32 users/carrier = 256 CDMA2000 users, 1 UMTS carriers = 1 carrier, 64 users/carrier = 64 UMTS users.

Given a fully configured CompactPCI rack, cost will be approximately $150,000 (US dollars) for the base-station components. This is for a scalable 2G-, 2.5G-, and 3G-capable system that allows for virtual networks and simultaneous multiple-protocol support. It also looks to be virtually future-proof. For a less powerful SpectruCell system, the cost is significantly lower. As a base entry point, an operator can deploy a SpectruCell micro-cell system and upgrade it to a macro by slotting in more signal-processing cards as demand requires.

Once services have been deployed for two or more operators over shared infra-structure, the cost of the network for each operator is dramatically lowered. For example, a shared network with three operators results in network ownership that costs approximately one-third of what they would spend to deploy their own network.

Of course, all of these benefits do not come without a price. Committing functionality in software, as is the case with the SpectruCell platform, means a speed sacrifice. A purely hardware-based solution, after all, will always be more efficient than a software one due to the effort in obtaining efficient use of processing resources. But the cost effectiveness and flexibility of SpectruCell, coupled with the recent improvements in compiler technology and processor speed, seem to minimize this concern. The platform`s real limiting factor is the RF spectrum, as newer technologies will seek to gain higher spectral efficiency from standards-based air interfaces.

While SpectruCell is a proprietary solution, the company is working within the confines of an emerging SDR Forum specification. Once the final specification gets approved, ACT plans to publish an interface to it. ACT will begin shipping pre-production hardware, along with software-development kits, in the second quarter of 2002. Live field trials with at least one major national operator are also set to begin in the second quarter. They will be conducted in the US.

      **ADVC Press Release**
SpectruCell SDR Multi-Protocol Base Station-Texas Instruments DSP Technology

Full duplex SDR CDMA call uses Texas Instruments high-performance DSP`s

LOS ANGELES - December 20th, 2001 - Offering a multitude of cost savings to network operators, Advanced Communications Technologies Inc. (OTCBB:ADVC) (ACT-USA) recently announced that the ACT-AUS development team has successfully demonstrated the completion of the world`s first two-way voice call on a Software Defined Radio (SDR) platform using the CDMAone (IS-95B) protocol.

The call was made using the SpectruCell technology, a SDR wireless base station capable of supporting simultaneous processing of multiple cellular protocols, which essentially eliminates costly duplication of network infrastructure, and provides a cost efficient platform for Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO).

The voice call was made to an off-the-shelf Qualcomm CDMA PCS handset operating in the 1900 MHz band and perhaps most importantly, the call was made without the use of any protocol specific hardware or Qualcomm chipsets being used within the basestation.

SpectruCell handled the CDMA call processing utilizing Texas Instruments (TI) DSPs from the high-performance TMS320C6000T platform. All call processing, including demodulation, channel decoding, speech decoding, control and signaling channel, speech encoding, channel encoding and modulation was implemented entirely in software running on TI`s C6000T DSPs within the SpectruCell technology.

This software defined functionality included the full chain of CDMA decode functions (rake receiver, search track, code generation, etc.).

Additionally, to demonstrate the flexibility of SpectruCell, ACT-AUS engineers implemented the voice codecs on the same TI DSP platform.
Generally, this voice coding is not done at the base station but is conventionally conducted in separate transcoder units.

"The ACT-AUS engineering team spent significant effort evaluating a range of DSP processors and software development tools before choosing TI`s complete
solution," said Simon Cleary, ACT-AUS Vice President of Research and Development. "TI`s suite of easy-to-use eXpressDSPT development tools and chipsets has made our engineering task much simpler. The ready support and
assistance that we have received from Texas Instruments has been invaluable to our middleware development efforts."

"We are pleased that our C6000 DSPs were chosen by ACT to implement the SpectruCell product" said Sandeep Kumar, Strategic Marketing Manager for TI`s wireless infrastructure business unit in Dallas. "The high speed clock rates and the innovative architectural enhancements of the C6000 platform result in significant power and cost per channel savings in the infrastructure."

"The demonstration of CDMA functionality is a strong validation of our decision to work with TI," said Roger May, ACT-AUS Chairman and CEO.

"Considering that we have been able to implement this functionality using currently available chips, we are very excited about the expanded possibilities that the next generation of TI chips will provide."

SpectruCell was designed from the outset as a device capable of simultaneously supporting multiple communications protocols. ACT-AUS`s SpectruCell SDR base station will offer a myriad of cost savings and
operational advantages for network operators. Perhaps most significantly, such advantages would include the ability to provide virtual or shared network support. Under this shared network configuration multiple carriers can share the one network infrastructure with the SpectruCell operating system handling multiple protocols and even different bands of spectrum all within the same base station/network infrastructure.

"The potential savings expected to be generated by SpectruCell`s virtual/shared network capabilities are immense," May added. "By multiple carriers co-locating on the one SpectruCell base station (MVNO), individual
carriers can eliminate costly duplication of network infrastructure. This will ensure that each mobile network operator can still provide a distinctly unique SDR based service with shared cell sites and infrastructure at a much
      lower establishment cost.``

A video clip of the SpectruCell SDR two way CDMA voice support is available at http://www.act-aus.net/scdemo. This video has been broken into four segments to aid downloading time.

      About Advanced Communications Technologies

Advanced Communications Technologies (ACT-AUS) is a world leader in the development of software-defined radio (SDR), an innovative technology that allows for exceptional flexibility in commercial and military wireless
communications. The Company`s flagship product - SpectruCell, is a SDR multiple protocol wireless base station consisting of hardware and software, that enables network providers to install a single base station and
configure it to any or all protocols (GSM, CDMA, UMTS, W-CDMA, etc).
Without SpectruCell, network providers would need to install separate base stations for each desired protocol. Several patent filings that bypass the large majority of Qualcomm`s patents on CDMA via hardware solutions support
      SpectruCell.

      The Universal Cell Phone

Mobile phones work only in some areas, and they become obsolete rapidly, as new features are developed. Flexible software in phones and wireless networks could change all that.

The great wireless revolution, which took off with the spectacular spread of cell phones in the 1990s, and which is supposed to bring broadband Internet to the gadget in your pocket, is in trouble.

Demand is soaring, forcing makers of wireless equipment and network operators to invest billions to meet humanity`s inexhaustible thirst for getting connected anywhere, anytime. Global sales of mobile phones soared from seven million in 1990 to 700 million last year and are projected to reach 1.7 billion in 2005. More and more users expect their phones to deliver very clear voice signals and to pick up their e-mail, albeit slowly.

But as frustrated callers know, communicating with mobile phones is tricky. The problem: today`s wireless networks use a maze of incompatible transmission standards, so road warriors aren`t guaranteed a dial tone when they travel. U.S. wireless operators alone use three competing standards, and just one of these is compatible with the leading standard in Europe, which itself has several variants. Most Asian wireless networks are built to another standard. This radio-wave Babel prevents most mobile phones in the United States from being viable elsewhere. It also limits U.S. manufacturers` economies of scale against foreign competitors.

The wireless revolution`s troubles go beyond conflicting standards. Consumers consistently expect more advanced features, so models that were state of the art in, say, 1995 will seem antique by 2003. By then, almost all new mobile phones will offer some form of Internet access. Millions of people in Japan, for example, snapped up i-mode, a service that lets them use cell phones to send text messages, buy stocks and check sports scores. Worldwide, companies are spending billions to build a new network, usually referred to as "third generation," or 3G, that is expected to bring broadband—detailed Web pages, music, even video—to your mobile phone.

However exciting for consumers, these advances carry a price, since there`s currently no easy way to upgrade mobile phones, or the base stations that carry their signals to the network, without changing hardware. Moreover, the wireless industry can`t predict which offerings will be winners; the consequences of failing to guess right can be devastating. Last year, European wireless operators spent heavily to offer phones equipped with a format known as Wireless Access Protocol, only to find the buying public impatient with their slow download speed. Demand was limp.

Small wonder that wireless companies are looking for ways to make their networks flexible, so as to avoid costly retrofitting as demand changes. A technology first developed by the military and now being pursued by several technology leaders could be the key. The technique is known to experts as software-defined radio, or SDR. ("Radio" refers here not to AM or FM, but to any equipment that communicates through the airwaves on radio frequencies, as cell phones do.) The advantage offered by this new approach is that it shifts the workload of wireless units from dedicated components to software that can be reprogrammed to work on a different standard or add applications. That`s entirely different from today`s mobile phones and base stations, in which virtually all signal processing is carried out by electronic circuitry designed to do one and only one thing.

The migration toward wireless networks that are adaptable due to their use of reprogrammable software "is one of the most important trends in technology today," says analyst Craig Mathias of MobileInsights in Mountain View, CA. James Gunn, of the Dallas-based consulting firm Forward Concepts, calls this trend the "revolutionary next step" that wireless technology needs.

Flexible software could also help solve another basic problem for the whole wireless enterprise: scarcity of spectrum (or bandwidth). As the demand for wireless communication explodes, there is an accompanying dearth of the necessary frequency channels. The Federal Communications Commission recently concluded that networks using reprogrammable software could ease that shortage because they could seek out and use temporarily unoccupied channels. Last December, the FCC proposed rules for its licensing of equipment and software in order to speed up U.S. adoption of the technology.

      More like a PC

The first cell phones relied on dozens of hardware components. In the past 15 years, programmable chips have been added, but their function is set immutably at manufacture. Today, dedicated, single-purpose chips do most of the work in mobile phone handsets and base stations; these chips are made as simple as possible to keep costs down.

Given the mishmash of conflicting standards and the uneven advent of the next generation of broadband wireless, manufacturers such as Motorola are starting to see dedicated components as a liability. A manufacturer that guesses wrong about the future standard will find itself with a lot of useless junk in its warehouses. As Ken Riordan, of Motorola`s Personal Communications Sector in Libertyville, IL, puts it, "If you commit your solution to hardware, and you get it wrong, then you`re going to be in a very jeopardized situation."

So more-general-purpose software that can be reprogrammed looks appealing. No one understands the trade-offs better than Joseph Mitola III, a radio engineer whom many insiders perceive to be the central innovator in the field. Early in life, Mitola became fascinated with computer code; he learned Fortran while attending high school in Providence, RI, in the 1960s. When he got to college—Northeastern University in Boston—he says he was "one of the few who knew how to program anything." Mitola had also tinkered with radios. Combining both interests led to a career creating top-secret radio designs for the military—including the first software-defined radios, which were for military use (see "The Military Seed"). Indeed, the commercial wireless industry learned of the technology in the early 1990s mainly through Mitola`s papers and lectures. His military bosses cleared these for public release, figuring the military could benefit if the commercial world pushed the technology further and brought costs down.

The problem Mitola was trying to solve was similar to the situation that would arise if you had to put a new circuit board in your PC every time you wanted to do a different task—say, switch from Web browsing to a spreadsheet. You`d eventually run out of space inside the box. The same holds true for cell phones. "If you want to cram in four more functions, it means each device has to be about a quarter the size it was before," says Mitola, now at the McLean, VA, office of MITRE, a nonprofit R&D consultancy. But, he adds, chips aren`t shrinking rapidly enough to make that possible, given the many standards and functions the wireless revolution demands.

If mobile phones and their base stations were computers, new software could download easily through their wires. But wireless communication is fundamentally different. Mobile phones must push signals across the airwaves at precisely the right power level and in the exact transmission format. They must be tuned to receive incoming, powerful signals from one or more channels. Antennas catch irregular analog signals traveling through space on "carrier" frequencies; incoming radio signals must then be converted to an intermediate frequency through combination with another radio wave produced inside the receiver. Then the carrier wave gets subtracted to put the signal in baseband—that is, a power level and speed that ordinary digital processors can handle. While the signal is in baseband, it is translated into a stream of binary ones and zeroes, which are in turn decoded, decrypted and formatted into voice or data.

The first operations to benefit from reprogrammable software are operations in the baseband. In one model of Motorola base station, for example, the software that performs the baseband coding and decoding is reprogrammable, according to Motorola`s Riordan.

Next, manufacturers would like reprogrammable software to handle the intermediate-frequency and radio-frequency parts of the job. That`s a more difficult technological challenge, in part because silicon—which is by far the most common and least expensive chip material—does not handle radio-wave signals well. Radio-frequency processing of broadband signals will most likely use gallium arsenide chips running 100 billion instructions per second, compared to the roughly 10 to 100 million instructions per second in single-purpose chips in present-day phones.

The rise in computing complexity is exacerbated by the push to send signals much faster. So-called third-generation broadband wireless service could move data at two megabits per second, a roughly hundredfold leap from the operating speeds of most of today`s wireless networks. All these demands mean chips will require lots more power; added power is far more easily obtained in a base station than in a small, lightweight mobile phone.

Still, Mitola says he would like to see a mobile phone that "digitizes the whole signal at the antenna" across widely spaced frequencies. "Then," he adds cheerfully, "other software can do whatever it wants with it." Such a flexible phone, he says, will be able to sniff out unused channels in the spectrum. Several U.S. chip makers, including big players Texas Instruments and Analog Devices, are pushing to develop the enabling technology. Small firms such as QuickSilver Technology of Santa Clara, CA, and Morphics Technology of Campbell, CA, are also vying for the prize.

To start with, however, manufacturers are putting reprogrammable chips mainly into base stations that relay signals from cell phones to the network. Unlike handsets, base stations have few space or power constraints. For instance, Lucent Technologies, second to Motorola as a supplier of wireless base stations worldwide, has new models that are "smart" (that is, they have a flexibility endowed by software) at the antenna. According to Paul Polakos, director of the company`s advanced wireless technology lab in Whippany, NJ, the new base stations can shift among multiple channels, assuming different "personalities" depending on which type of communication is called for—analog or digital voice transmission, high-speed data, or broadband.

Cramming this kind of software-derived flexibility into lightweight handsets will not be easy. Even Mitola admits that "truly breakthrough technology" will be needed for a lightweight handset to flex among three or four frequency bands and operational modes. Meanwhile, smart, software-programmable wireless sets will find their way into vehicles, which can accommodate larger and heavier systems than people`s pockets can. Indeed, one early use of flexible software radio technology will be in radios in police and fire vehicles: public safety agencies` wireless systems are notoriously incompatible. The FCC is encouraging public agencies to adopt this technology. Several firms, such as Vanu of Cambridge, MA, are developing equipment for this market.

      Future Phones—Smarter Still

Wireless devices that morph through different "personalities" on the fly would be a boon to their users. But at the same time they create policy problems, as new technologies that cross boundaries often do. Historically, the FCC authorizes each piece of equipment for a type of use and specific channel. How should the regulators license mobile phones and base stations that can readily be changed after they`re in use? How free should third parties be to load new software into your phone? How will it be possible to distinguish legitimate upgrades of the network from rogues trying subvert it?

The FCC decided that rules to cover these scenarios were not needed—yet. But it also concluded it should facilitate this technology`s evolution. A main reason is the lack of enough spectrum for third-generation wireless services in the United States at present. So equipment that sniffs out and utilizes unused swaths of spectrum could alleviate what the FCC calls the U.S. spectrum "drought."

To do this, however, will require both base stations and handsets to become supersmart—a leap to what Joe Mitola calls "cognitive radio." A cognitive device will not only scan its spectral environment; it will also have built-in memory and maps and positioning capabilities. Those will enable it to react intelligently to its environment.

Over the past two years, Mitola built a crude civilian version of a cognitive radio as a doctoral project for Sweden`s Royal Institute of Technology. When this device is outdoors, it configures itself to use the prevailing cellular phone protocol; when carried indoors it switches to the format of the building`s local area network. Mitola explains that a more advanced version could "know" that the person carrying it is in trouble and send a distress signal on the local emergency frequency to give rescuers its location.

But mobile phones that reorient to a new channel for temporary use would have to get permission to "rent" that spectrum for some period of time from the official licensee. In a paper that foreshadowed his doctoral thesis, Mitola proposed a payment system that would employ the signal protocols (see "Wireless Rent-A-Channel"). Using such a system, your intelligent handheld would scan the spectrum to find a channel that was not in use at the moment; for example, it might find one that the local fire department had the license to use but was offering for rent. Your radio would bid to rent the channel. The fire department`s radios, receiving the bid, could agree—or wait for other bids. But the instant the station`s bells rang and the firemen needed their channel back, their radios would bump the renter off. Mitola reckons the channel`s owner could regain control in 25 milliseconds—a delay that would be unnoticeable to human speakers. Your cognitive mobile phone would sign off, reckoning and paying a bill for time used, then start scanning for another open channel.

The FCC, in endorsing this vision, has joined forces with an unlikely ally: George Gilder, self-styled seer of the "telecosm" and critic of the FCC for holding back innovation. For years, Gilder has predicted that intelligence will grow at the edges of the wireless telecom network with the result that channels become fluid. Wireless devices and networks that employ flexible software, he says, will "transform the entire world of wireless communications," the way personal computers transformed wired networks.

The swaths of spectrum that are most commercially desirable are often referred to as prime beachfront property. But Gilder wants people to stop thinking of spectrum as some kind of ethereal analogue to physical land. "Smart radios suggest not a beach but the endless waves of the ocean itself. You can no more lease electromagnetic waves than you can lease ocean waves."

Making that ocean available to billions of people could be one impact of flexible software-based wireless networks. But even before we reach this nirvana of spectrum abundance, the technology could make wireless networks more cost effective and future-proof—and keep the wireless revolution rolling.

As Software-defined Radio (SDR) technology moves beyond the military arena, the first commercial venues are likely to be in the wireless base station market. For wireless carriers that must support multiple protocols such as GSM and CDMA digital mobile phones, today`s technology requires discrete cell sites with separate equipment for each protocol. Advanced Communications Technologies, however, has developed a multiple protocol wireless base station that the company claims can enable network providers to support all current and future protocols with the same equipment on the same network.

The Australia-based company`s SpectruCell platform consists of the required hardware and software for enabling network providers to install a single base station and configure it to protocols such as GSM, CDMA, UMTS, and W-CDMA. Without SpectruCell, claims ACT, network providers would have to install separate base stations for each desired protocol. ACT intends to conduct the first field trials of its technology right here in the USA beginning later this year.

An ACT development team already has successfully demonstrated what the company`s claims to be the world`s first two-way voice call over a Software Defined Radio (SDR) platform using the CDMAone (IS-95B) protocol. The call demonstration was conducted using SpectruCell technology coupled with an SDR wireless base station based on TI`s TMS320C6000 DSP platform.

TI bets $100 million on 3G
      By Carmen Nobel

      March 5, 2001

To accelerate software development on its new mobile device architecture, Texas Instruments Inc. is investing $100 million in next-generation wireless applications.

The Dallas company plans to disperse the money over the next 12 to 18 months to developers who write applications for its OMAP (Open Multimedia Applications Platform). The architecture will let applications take advantage of higher-speed networks that wireless carriers are supposed to start rolling out in the United States by the end of the year.

The initial upgrade to the networks is termed 2.5G, which refers to an interim step between the current networks that can`t handle data applications much more complicated than e-mail and the 3G, or third-generation, networks that will be able to handle streaming video applications.

OMAP supports Symbian Ltd.`s Epoc and Microsoft Corp.`s Windows CE operating systems as well as Sun Microsystems Inc.`s Java 2 Micro Edition.

Handspring Inc., Nokia Corp. and Ericsson Mobile Communications AB plan to build devices based on OMAP by year`s end. But the applications to run on those devices are still lacking.

In developing products for 3G, TI must first deal with the carriers, such as Sprint Corp., which decide whether and when to roll out the high-speed networks. TI does not have direct relationships with the carriers.

At the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, France, last month, many attendees referred to 3G as "overhyped," including Carl Yankowski, CEO of Palm Inc., in Santa Clara, Calif.

AusIndustry grants alone should answer your question. These have involved the independent evaluation of a highly respected company/analyst in order to receive the latest tranche of the largest grant ever awarded by that body, based on the attenuation of certain milestones in the development of SpectruCell within a given timeframe. There are also the working agreements with RMIT, TI and RLM. Add to that the filing of patent applications for the technology that essentially by-passes the CDMA hardware involved in the the transmission/reception of cellphone technology at the basestation level. The presentations of technical papers at major 3G conferences and the fact that members of the technological staff of ACT-Aus have been invited to these conferences to present these papers is also noteworthy.

DDInvestor has represented these hard working people to present their goals and accomplishments in, what we hope is, is an objective manner. We leave the decision process to each individual investor."

Since Jason and Simon are overseas, meeting with some major industry contacts I`ll make some comment on Alcatel`s release.

The work they`ve published in those releases relates to their prototype work, I`m expecting that they would get the same sort of results with that as that of the SpectruCell prototype. What they don`t say is what those results are and where they`re going next. We are already a long way down the road with our production model and operating system which differs in function and performance significantly from that of our prototype (and I expect, Alcatel`s). It also appears from their wording (so I`m taking a punt) that they don`t implement full protocol stacks on their device which could mean they`ve missed a lot of valuable SDR lessons, of course ACT has been there, done that...

I think their release is an indication that SDR is the cellular industry destiny predicted by ACT back in 1999. Alcatel now have got the hardware in place that we had over a year ago, and they seem to have a fairly unsophisticated software architecture. Needless to say we`ll be keeping our eyes and ears tuned to industry happenings, Alcatel being only one of players to watch.

Die komplette Abspaltung oder was ?

Ohne gute Beziehung zu ACT-AUS, kein S/C für ADVC,
      ohne S/C ... kein ADVC

      http://ragingbull.lycos.com/mboard/boards.cgi?board=ADVC&rea…

      PR - ADVC Company Direction

Advanced Communications Technologies, Inc. Outlines New Strategic Plan

Los Angeles–February 7, 2002–Advanced Communications Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:ADVC) (the Company) announced today that it has begun implementing a strategic plan designed to accelerate development of stable, long-term growth and value enhancement for the Company and its shareholders.

To date, the Company has focused its resources primarily on SpectruCell, a leading edge wireless infrastructure based on software defined radio routing technology. The Company currently owns the commercial rights to this technology in the North, South and Central American markets. It also owns a 20% interest in its Australian affiliate, Advanced Communications Technologies (Australia) Pty Ltd (ACT-Australia), the developer of SpectruCell. SpectruCell will be a key enabler for network providers to integrate multiple simultaneous protocols across a network infrastructure with the ability to be easily upgraded or re-configured, since it is software-based. This technology will reduce many of the limitations and expense that current hardware solutions require.

The Company recently entered into a $31 million financing agreement with Cornell Capital Partners, LP. The purpose of the financing was to provide the Company with the funds necessary to accomplish the following objectives: first, to complete the Company’s purchase of its 20% interest in ACT-Australia; second, to acquire SpectruCell from ACT-Australia if terms can be agreed; third, to enable the Company to broaden its focus to include operating businesses that will provide revenue and profits and an opportunity for equity growth; and last, to create a net tangible asset base that will qualify the Company to be listed on the NASDAQ or AMEX exchange. The Company is exploring acquisition opportunities in the communications technology sector and is currently conducting due diligence on prospective targets.

The Company will also be addressing the shareholders’ desire for information about the company. This will be accomplished through the development of a more comprehensive, easily accessible and effective system of communicating with investors, the market, and the public at large. One key component of this new system will be upgrading the Company’s website, which will be transformed into an interactive forum to provide access to the Company’s SEC filings, press releases and other pertinent communications, more in-depth information on the Company’s activities, as well as a "For the Record" area that will provide considered responses to investor’s questions and concerns. Work on this has already begun and will be completed in the near future.

The Company has reached a significant milestone in its development. Following the recent changes in its management, and the execution of a substantial financing agreement, the Company intends to implement a focused and committed plan of stable, long-term growth and value enhancement. The Company remains committed to SpectruCell, and is confident that it now has the financial ability and other resources necessary to realize SpectruCell’s full commercial potential. It will also focus on other profitable, synergistic opportunities.

Future communications will provide additional details about the Company’s direction and updates regarding the matters referred to shortly. For more information regarding Advanced Communications Technologies, Inc., visit http://www.actadvc.com/ .

      Hallo,

nur im nächsten Absatz steht dann: "The purpose of the financing was(...)first, to complete the Company`s purchase of its 20% interest in ACT Australia"

Und das, obwohl es sonst immer hieß, ADVC HÄTTE SCHON die 20% Beteiligung...die natürlich sowieso nicht die Mehrheit wäre, andererseits ja deutlich mehr als den Fitzelanteil, den unserereins so hat.

Advanced Communications Technologies, Inc. closes $1 million convertible debenture

LOS ANGELES---February 8, 2002-Advanced Communications Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:ADVC) (ACT or the Company) announced today that on January 29, 2002 it closed on its $1 million convertible debenture, which is part of a $31 million total financing commitment from Cornell Capital Partners, LP (Cornell Capital), a New Jersey-based domestic investment fund.

Commenting on the transaction, Wayne I. Danson, ACT`s VP and CFO stated, "The closing of this interim financing confirms Cornell`s commitment to the Company and confidence in current management. It provides us with the necessary funding to continue the Company`s business strategies until the $30 million structured equity facility is declared effective by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)". Danson then confirmed that the Company is in the process of preparing its S-1 Registration Statement, which is expected to be filed with the SEC this month, to register shares of the Company`s common stock. The Company is pleased with the outcome of this financing, as it provides immediately available funding in the form of a convertible security, as opposed to the previous proposal, which provided no immediate funding to the Company.

      PR - ADVC Obtains Injunction

Advanced Communications Technologies Inc. Obtains Injunction to Protect Interests

Los Angeles--February 11, 2002--Advanced Communications Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:ADVC) announced today that it recently filed suit to protect the interests of the Company and its shareholders in Advanced Communications Technologies (Australia) Pty Ltd (ACT-Australia), the developer of SpectruCell, a leading edge wireless infrastructure based on software routing technology. The Company owns 20% of ACT-Australia. It also has the exclusive rights to market and distribute SpectruCell in North, South and Central America under a License Agreement with ACT-Australia.

The Company commenced the litigation as a proactive response to unfounded demands and improper threats of hostile action by ACT-Australia and Roger May (the CEO of ACT-Australia) under the Stock Purchase Agreement pursuant to which the Company acquired its stock ownership in the Australian affiliate. These demands and threats immediately followed Mr. May`s recent dismissal as the Chairman, CEO and President of the Company.

At the initial hearing on this matter, the Supreme Court of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia issued a preliminary injunction against ACT-Australia and Roger May, CEO of ACT-Australia, restraining them "from transferring, dealing with, charging, diminishing, mortgaging, assigning or disposing of" the Company`s 20% stock interest in ACT-Australia. There will be a further hearing on February 20, 2002 at which time Court will decide whether to extend the injunction until a trial on the matter can take place. "We believe the court will extend the injunction because the facts, law and equities are in our favor", said Gary Ivaska, CEO and President of ACT Inc. Since the issuance of the preliminary injunction, ACT-Australia has initiated settlement discussions with the Company.

The Company recently obtained a major financing commitment from Cornell Capital Partners, LP that will provide the necessary funds to fulfill its remaining obligations to ACT-Australia under the Stock Purchase Agreement. (A separate press release has been issued regarding the details of the Cornell Capital Partners, LP funding agreement.)

"We remain committed to marketing and distributing SpectruCell in the Americas under our License Agreement. Concurrently, we are working to conclude on-going negotiations to acquire all remaining rights to SpectruCell from ACT-Australia. This will put us in the best possible position to cohesively ensure the timely, marketable completion of SpectruCell and the maximum realization of its potential in the marketplace," stated Ivaska. "Cornell Capital is committed to the Company and if we reach an agreement to acquire SpectruCell, initial funding will be provided through our financing arrangement with them".

The entire Board of Directors has requested Mr. May and Allen Roberts resign as directors of the Company due to conflicts of interests resulting from their relationships with ACT-Australia. Thus far, Mr. May and Mr. Roberts have declined to do so. Notwithstanding this, the Company is taking appropriate measures to ensure that on-going dealings with ACT-Australia are conducted in a manner that protects the interests of the Company and its shareholders.

There will be further information about the outcome of the upcoming court hearing after it takes place.

      servus,

      ITEM 5. OTHER EVENTS.

Advanced Communications Technologies, Inc. reported the resignation of Gary Ivaska and new developments in its ongoing litigation with Advanced Communications Technologies (Australia) Pty Ltd, Advanced Communications` Australian affiliate ("ACT-Australia"). A description of these developments is set forth below.

      MANAGEMENT CHANGES.

Effective April 30, 2002, Gary Ivaska resigned as President and Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Communications. At the time of his resignation, Advanced Communications and Mr. Ivaska agreed to payment terms regarding past due compensation. Under the agreement, Advanced Communications will pay Mr. Ivaska four monthly installments of $10,000, commencing on May 31, 2002, and continuing until August 31, 2002.

On May 2, 2002, Advanced Communications` Board of Directors appointed Mr. Wayne I. Danson, Advanced Communications` Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, as interim President effective April 30, 2002.

      NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN ONGOING LITIGATION.

On April 26, 2002, the Supreme Court of Victoria at Melbourne, Australia issued an interim order against ACT-Australia and Mr. May in connection with the ongoing litigation between Advanced Communications and ACT-Australia. The interim order prohibits ACT-Australia and Mr. May from violating the terms of the License and Distribution Agreement dated as of July 5, 2000. This license agreement grants Advanced Communications the exclusive right to market and distribute the SpectruCell technology in North, South, and Central America. Based on a press release issued by ACT-Australia, ACT-Australia is seeking to license the SpectruCell Technology to another entity in Advanced Communications` territory. On April 26, 2002, the Australian court entered the interim order. On May 7, 2002, Advanced Communications received a notice from ACT-Australia alleging a breach of the License Agreement. Advanced Communications believes the allegation is without merit and intends to protect its legal rights. On May 8, 2002, the Court extended its April 26, 2002 order through May 14, 2002, further restraining ACT-Australia from "acting upon or taking any further steps in reliance upon" the notice of breach until May 14, 2002 when this matter will be heard by the Court.

A complete description of the litigation proceeding to date is provided below.

On December 6, 2001, Mr. Roger May, as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ACT-Australia, sent a letter to Advanced Communications demanding full payment of all amounts due under the Stock Purchase Agreement between Advanced Communications and ACT-Australia (the "STOCK PURCHASE AGREEMENT). This letter was dated six days after Mr. May was removed by the Board of Directors from all executive capacities including as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. May sent additional demand letters on December 11, 2001, and December 21, 2001. These demand letters threatened to exercise the rights granted to ACT-Australia under its constitutional documents, which include exercising ACT-Australia`s lien over the shares registered in the name of Advanced Communications or declaring that those shares be forfeited. Advanced Communications believes that it has fully met its obligation under the Stock Purchase Agreement, which states that payments are only required to be paid to ACT-Australia from those funds remaining after deduction of reserves needed for current operations, working capital and the development and expansion of its operations and the operations of its subsidiaries as determined by its Board of Directors. At this time, Advanced Communications does not have sufficient funds available to pay to ACT-Australia. On January 23, 2002, Advanced Communications filed suit against ACT-Australia and Roger May in the Supreme Court of Victoria at Melbourne, Australia to protect its investment.

On January 23, 2002, the Court issued an interim order effectively enjoining and prohibiting ACT-Australia from "transferring, dealing with, charging, diminishing, mortgaging, assigning or disposing of" Advanced Communications` stock in ACT-Australia. Although the court order had already been extended twice, it was again extended by the court on February 20, 2002, until a final determination is made at trial. ACT-Australia declined to contest the court orders sought by Advanced Communications. ACT-Australia filed its Answer to the suit and the parties are currently conducting discovery of material documents.

      - 2 -

On March 15, 2002, ACT-Australia issued a press release stating that EntrePort Corporation ("EntrePort"), an AMEX listed company, executed "definitive documents" whereby EntrePort would acquire a minority interest in ACT-Australia and ACT-Australia would purchase a majority interest in EntrePort. Further, on March 14, 2002, ACT-Australia entered into an Acquisition Agreement with EntrePort (the "Acquisition Agreement") which stated that ACT-Australia "now plans to locate and establish a base of operations in the United States for the continued development, marketing and distribution of the SpectruCell product in the USA and Canada. Such base of operations will involve the establishment of engineering facilities, research and development, sales, marketing and distribution." The Acquisition Agreement also stated that EntrePort`s name would be changed to "Advanced Communications USA, Inc." Mr. May resigned from Advanced Communications` Board of Directors one day before entering into the Acquisition Agreement.

Advanced Communications believes that the transaction with EntrePort as described in the Acquisition Agreement is inconsistent with the rights granted to it by ACT-Australia in the License and Distribution Agreement dated July 5, 2000 pursuant to which Advanced Communications received the exclusive rights to market and distribute the SpectruCell technology in North, South and Central America. Advanced Communications therefore instructed its Australian lawyers to write to ACT-Australia requesting an undertaking that it would not appoint EntrePort or any other person to market and distribute the SpectruCell technology in the exclusive territory in breach of the license agreement. ACT-Australia refused to provide the undertaking sought by Advanced Communications and, accordingly, Advanced Communications applied to the Court for an order restraining ACT-Australia from breaching the terms of the license agreement. On April 26, 2002, the Court issued an interim order on the following terms:

"Until the determination of the plaintiff`s [i.e., Advanced Communications`] summons filed on 23 April 2002 or further order, the first defendant [i.e., ACT-Australia], whether by itself or by its officers, employees, agents, attorneys, or any of them or otherwise, be restrained from appointing or agreeing to appoint in any way whatsoever EntrePort Corporation or any other person to distribute, sell, offer to sell or supply or otherwise deal in or with the wireless or terrestrial multi-protocols communication network technology known as SpectruCell (`Product`) (incorporating the software which enables the Product to perform to its specifications, consisting of a set of instructions or statements in machine readable medium, and any enhancement or modification of that software (`Software`) and related hardware performing part of the base station controller which processes and transmits mobile communications protocols such as AMPS, CDMA, TDMA GSM, W-CDMA, UMTS, 3G & Voice IP) in the United States of America, the North American and South American Continents (`Exclusive Territory`) without the prior written consent of the plaintiff."

EntrePort was added as a defendant to the proceedings.

On May 7, 2002, Advanced Communications received a notice alleging a breach from ACT-Australia stating that Advanced Communications had breached its obligation under the License Agreement. Advanced Communications believes that the notice of breach is without merit and it is taking the necessary legal actions to prevent ACT-Australia from terminating its rights under the License Agreement.

On May 8, 2002, the Court extended its April 26, 2002 order through May 14, 2002, further restraining ACT-Australia from "acting upon or taking any further steps in reliance upon" the notice of breach until May 14, 2002 when this matter will be heard by the Court.

      Hallo Sushi,

bin kein Experte der ADVC- ACT-US + ACT-Aus- Firmenverschachtelung. Fakt scheint mir aber zu sein, dass der liebe Roger May nun einen Firmenbankrott hingelegt hat.
Der Kernsatz der weiter unten stehenden Presseveröffentlichung ist:

"ACT is actively participating in ACT Australia`s bankruptcy process"

Tja, der Roger, nun also endgültig als Gauner enttarnt. Dragon vom Raging Bull hatte also Recht.

Advanced Communications Technologies, Inc. Announces the Relocation of its California Office and Other Cost-Saving Measures
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 1, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Advanced Communications Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:ADVC - news) (``ACT`` or the ``Company``) announced today the relocation of its El Segundo, CA office to 420 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY 10170, effective August 1, 2002, as part of various cost-saving measures that the Company has implemented. In a further effort to reduce costs, Jason Webster will no longer hold the position of the Company`s Investor Relations contact. For future inquiries, investors may refer to public web announcements, SEC filings or contact the Company directly at 310-416-1270.

``We appreciate Mr. Webster`s commitment and past services and wish him well in his future endeavors,`` said Wayne I. Danson, ACT`s President and CFO. ``Although we are extremely positive and expect to maintain our exclusive rights to market and distribute SpectruCell, we are taking an aggressive approach to curtail our operating costs. Relocating our office to a more cost-effective location and consolidating monthly expenses are reasonable measures that the Company is taking to minimize its overhead.``

ACT is actively participating in ACT Australia`s bankruptcy process. ``We (ACT) have been well represented throughout the litigation (with ACT Australia) and are pleased with how things are progressing,`` remarked Danson, who continued by saying, ``We are optimistic that the outcome of ACT Australia`s bankruptcy will result in the Company having a more meaningful, on-going role in the ownership, development and marketing of the SpectruCell technology. We are particularly heartened by the significant interest in SpectruCell from prominent Australian and U.S. public and private companies.``

Randall Prouty, the Company`s Chairman, commented, ``We have received a tremendous amount of support from our Board of Directors, attorneys and ACT supporters throughout the litigation (with ACT Australia) and are encouraged that all of these efforts will result in our being able to fulfill our goals and objectives of marketing and distributing SpectruCell in the military and commercial marketplace in the near future. There are still some significant issues to be resolved in the ACT Australia bankruptcy proceeding and we expect to have a much clearer picture of where we stand by the end of August.``

Advanced Communications Technologies (Australia) Pty Ltd Announces Dismissal of Unmerited Legal Action Against It By U.S.-Based Advanced Communications Technologies, Inc

NEW YORK, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- ADVANCED COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGIES (Australia) Pty Ltd ("ACT AUS") today announced the discharge and termination of all temporary Court injunctions previously brought against it on August 23rd, 2002 by the U.S.-based Advanced Communications Technologies, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: ADVCE) ("ADVC"). This termination destroys the whole basis of the ADVC press release of November 6th, 2002, and the legal actions previously initiated by ADVC.

As a result, ACT AUS is completely free to deal in its proprietary SpectruCell SDR technology in the United States, and throughout the North and South American region, without restraint or further hindrance from ADVC.

The orders that were discharged arose out of legal proceedings brought by ADVC earlier this year. Those proceedings sought to restrain ACT AUS from exercising its contractual right to cancel the License and Distribution Agreement it had granted to ADVC, that ACT AUS had terminated for material breach of that Agreement on May 7th 2002.

ACT AUS had also cancelled an Equity Purchase Agreement for non-payment of the purchase price by ADVC, after several written demands for payment were not responded to.

Mr. Justice Habersberger had previously given ADVC additional time to provide evidence of solvency. However, ADVC had filed no financial statements since March 31st 2002, and had made no attempt to provide more current financial information to validate that it was not insolvent to the Court. This despite several written requests by ACT AUS to Randall Prouty, Chairman of ADVC.

As of today, ADVC has still not filed its SEC 10K 30th June 2002 financial statements that were due 30th September 2002.

License and Distribution Agreement & Equity Purchase Agreement Terminated as of October 25th 2002.

As a result of the court orders dismissing the temporary injunctions, ADVC`s proposed Equity Purchase Agreement, and the License and Distribution Agreement for SpectruCell in the North and South American region, have now been officially and irrevocably terminated. The Court allowed for the License and Distribution agreement granted to ADVC to be finally cancelled on October 14th 2002 on the grounds that ADVC was insolvent. ADVC was given additional time to provide evidence of solvency to the Court. However, no submissions or evidence in this regard were provided by ADVC, instead they filed a motion for "leave to discontinue" and withdraw from the Court proceedings, which they had initiated, without any explanation.

The Court refused the motion of ADVC for "leave to discontinue" the action, and is still to consider the amount costs and damages to be awarded against ADVC. Further Court hearings are scheduled in this regard.

Accordingly, all business relationships of any nature between Advanced Communications Technologies (Australia) Pty Ltd (ACT AUS) with Advanced Communications Technologies, Inc (ADVC) have now been officially terminated by Court consent, and are of no further effect or validity. Favorable Outcome - Administration

The management of ACT has also confirmed that the Administration of ACT (similar to US Chapter 11) was terminated effective September 26th 2002 when a Deed of Company arrangement was unanimously accepted that would provide 100% payment to all recognized creditors. The formal Deed was executed on October 17th 2002, and control of ACT formally returned to the Directors at that time. SDR Communications Technologies Pty Ltd

ACT AUS advised that it will not continue as the primary developer of the "SpectruCell" technology, and that all IP and development rights are currently being assigned to SDR Communications Technologies Pty Ltd (hereinafter "SDRC").

SDRC is also currently exploring the most viable option available to establish and fund an operational base in the United States intended to provide technical assistance with the implementation and provision of "technology demonstrator" units for commercial and military applications of the SpectruCell SDR technology, via a merger with a U.S.-based public company. SDRC is also evaluating an opportunity to establish a joint venture operational base with a US company, although no formal proposal has been finalized at this time. ACT files US$320 million Conspiracy Law Suit against Directors of ADVC

Management of ACT AUS also confirmed that they are aggressively pursuing a lawsuit filed in the California Superior Court against the current Board of Directors of ADVC and some senior management of ADVC. The lawsuit was filed in the California Superior Court on May 10th 2002 and alleges seven causes of action including "conspiracy to cause financial harm" and claims US$320 million in damages for harm caused ACT AUS and Roger May by the willful actions of the Directors of ADVC. The lawsuit alleges that documentary evidence received by ACT AUS confirms such a conspiracy between ADVC and an Australian company and several other individuals. Legal action is also currently being initiated in Australia against several individuals regarding their involvement with the U.S. Directors of ADVC.

The ACT AUS law suit against ADVC in California alleges that the Directors of ADVC planned and orchestrated a campaign designed to force ACT into liquidation in order that ADVC could acquire the assets of ACT at a "fire sale" price. This campaign against ACT AUS included the distribution and circulation of false and misleading information about ADVC rights to the U.S. client base of ACT AUS that has caused serious financial harm to the ongoing business of ACT AUS.

Vieleicht würde doch ein Einstieg wieder lohnen.???

NEW YORK, Oct. 15, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Advanced Communications Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB:ADVC.OB - News) (``ACT`` or the ``Company``) announced today that it is in line with its strategic plan to restructure the Company, and has already taken its first proactive step towards turning ACT into a valuable operating business.
The Company`s access to capital under its equity line of credit facility with Cornell Capital Partners, L.P. (``Cornell Capital``), which became available on July 31, 2003 when the SEC declared its registration statement effective, has enabled the Company to begin restructuring its outstanding debt with creditors and clean up its balance sheet. ``We have either settled or are in the process of settling a majority of our debt obligations with our creditors,`` said Wayne Danson, ACT`s President and CFO. Danson continued, ``Our objective is to have the company`s obligations significantly settled and discharged by the end of the year. While this goal may be aggressive, management is working conscientiously towards attaining this result.`` The Company has settled over $800,000 of debt obligations with creditors since September.

As part of ACT`s overall reformation, the Company is actively pursuing the acquisition of one or more operating businesses with a proven product and dynamic management. This process has just begun and the Company does not anticipate any meaningful transactions until the first quarter 2004. ``We need to restructure the company`s financial picture before we aggressively pursue our expansion plans,`` said Danson. Cornell Capital voiced their support and offered their availability to assist ACT in finding appropriate business expansion opportunities.

Management is also considering the possible future spin-off or sale of its rights to the SpectruCell product, which include the exclusive marketing and distribution rights throughout the North and South American markets. ``We are actively considering these possibilities as well as other options in an effort to provide multiple sources of growth for the company and value to our shareholders``, said Danson. The potential spin-off or sale of the rights to the SpectruCell product is consistent with management`s vision of a new and diverse Company.

The Board of Directors expressed excitement about the future possibilities and new direction of the Company.
