Today at MEC 2001, Microsoft`s essential infrastructure planning and deployment conference in Orlando, Fla., IXOS SOFTWARE AG (Nasdaq:XOSY)(Neuer Markt:XOS), announced that its product, IXOS-eCONserver for Microsoft Exchange 2000, in conjunction with Hewlett-Packard Company`s archival storage products, won the MEC Awards 2001 for the "Best Infrastructure Product" category. IXOS, the global leader in eBusiness document management solutions for inter-enterprise environments, built its award-winning solution on Microsoft Exchange 2000. Features include support for Exchange store technology and direct integration into the Microsoft Management Console (MMC). The solution helps customers archive e-mails, attachments and other documents quickly and easily -- ensuring fast retrieval and enabling up to 90 percent reduced load on Exchange servers.

IXOS and HP were selected for the award because of the successful implementation of their products at the United States Air Force Air Mobility Command (AMC). IXOS staff will be showing IXOS-eCONserver for Exchange at the IXOS Booth No. 660 for the duration of the conference, September 30th - October 4th at the Orange County Convention Center. IXOS and HP will be demonstrating this award winning solution in HP`s Booth No. 101 during the conference.

IXOS-eCONserver helped AMC save costs and time during the process of migrating 65,000 e-mail users from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000. Currently, AMC is using IXOS-eCONserver in conjunction with HP Surestore 2200mx magneto-optical (MO) jukeboxes. IXOS-eCONserver is used to index and archive e-mails and attachments, which are then stored in HP jukeboxes. HP jukeboxes are capable of storing up to 2.2 terabytes of data nearline, and an indefinite amount of offline data. For AMC e-mail users, the solution is seamless -- the only difference between an archived e-mail and a regular e-mail is that the archived e-mail has a small cd icon next to it. Retrieval of the archived e-mail is simple and fast -- upon clicking on the cd icon, the e-mail or attachment instantly appears.

In addition to routine messages and attachments, orders and invoices are increasingly mailed electronically -- which can result in a strain on server capacity.
