The military operation of the United States and its allies against terrorist bases in Afghanistan will start no earlier than October 10, military experts have said.
Preparations in Pakistan to take in humanitarian aid from international organizations and nations and to tackle the refugee problem will be over by that date, they noted.
"American representatives in Islamabad have unofficially recommended nations that have offices in Pakistan to partially evacuate members of their staff and their families before October 10," a diplomat told Interfax on Thursday.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld will finalize his trip to the Middle East and Central Asia by that date, he said. Rumsfeld will visit American military units stationed in those regions, in particular in Oman and Saudi Arabia, to inspect their readiness for the campaign.
Meanwhile, the United States and its allies are reinforcing their units in the Persian Gulf zone and at the Diego Garcia air base on the Chagos Archipelago in the Indian Ocean. About 4,000 American servicemen and more than 2,000 tons of cargo have been shipped to the region since September 15. The Americans are also reinforcing their units at the Diego Garcia base.
At present the forces of the United States and its allies in the Gulf zone consist of about 340 warplanes and over 40 warships and submarines, experts say.

Zu dieser Zeit wird auch der Flugzeugträger "USS Kitty Hawk", der als Einsatzzentrale dienen soll, im Einsatzgebiet eintreffen, der etwa 10 Tage von Japan kommend benötigt.
