Amnis Systems Updates Financial Outlook; Long Term Opportunities for Video Security and Surveillance
BusinessWire, Monday, October 08, 2001 at 21:16
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 8, 2001--Amnis Systems
Inc. (OTCBB:AMNM)(Frankfurt: ANI), a leading global provider of
networked streaming video systems, today provided an update on its
business outlook and revised its financial outlook for the third and
fourth quarters of year 2001.
Amnis Systems believes that the recent events related to the
terrorist attacks have further weakened an already deteriorating
worldwide economic environment resulting in significant delays in
orders. As a result Amnis revenues fell in the third quarter ending
September 30, 2001 in the range of $400,000 to $500,000. Visibility
for the fourth quarter is limited due to the poor economy and
continued delays in new orders but Amnis expects revenues in the range
of $400,000 to $500,000.
"On a more positive note we have seen new long term opportunities
in the video security and surveillance market with the receipt of
recent orders." said Michael Liccardo, chairman, president and CEO of
Amnis. "Over the course of next year the increased spending on
homeland security could benefit our business significantly."
Amnis has provided its streaming video over IP solutions for
numerous security and surveillance applications in government,
military and corporate applications. Amnis products have been used in
unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to provide reconnaissance in support of
military operations and in a variety of ground and shipboard
applications. Traffic surveillance, street surveillance, harbor
surveillance, water treatment plant surveillance and other enterprise
applications have also been deployed with Amnis products since 1998.
"The challenging economic climate clearly has impacted our
results," stated Liccardo."We are taking the steps necessary to align
our costs and staffing with our revised revenue outlook."
