Houston Metro Transit Authority (MTA) Police to Deploy BIO-key's PocketCop(R) Software

(OTC Bulletin Board: BKYI - News), a leader in finger-based biometric identification and wireless public safety solutions, announced today that it has been awarded a contract with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in Houston, Texas to equip its police officers with 59 PocketCop® enabled Blackberry® handheld devices. PocketCop is the first handheld application that provides law enforcement agencies with a fully integrated mobile data system Using Nextel's public wireless infrastructure, PocketCop will provide MTA police officers with mobile, access to local, state and national criminal justice databases for information on persons, vehicles, and weapons.

Many of the 1200 law enforcement agencies across the county that make up BIO-key's user base have started implementing this new technology, sites such as the Houston MTA and the US Postal Police to name a few. The need for data and information for first responders anytime, anyplace, anywhere is experiencing significant growth.
