Healtheuniverse, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: HLUN), a diversified biotechnology development firm specializing in the development and commercialization of patented biopharmaceutical and biomedical products, announced today that the Company's fat based stem cell technology is moving to clinical trials without the use of human embryonic stem cells. The Company is preparing to submit an application through an Independent Institutional Review Board to pursue our clinical trial for the utilization of fat based stem cells. Using this approach provides the promise of stem cell medical breakthroughs while avoiding the controversy surrounding destruction of embryos.
Adipose tissue, also known as fat, is an abundant source of stem cells and other regenerative cells that can contribute to the repair and healing of damaged tissue. Clinical trials will be focused on growing different cell types from adult stem cells utilizing a proprietary process. Therapies utilizing this process have varied applications for use in plastic, reconstructive, orthopedic, vascular, and cardiac surgery. The clinical trials using adult stem cells are important because they provide the promise of significant medical advancement in the stem cell field while avoiding the controversy of using stem cells from embryos.
