Hallo zusammen,

A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. Wins Two Contracts Totaling $75.3 Million for Anhui Wenergy Co., Ltd.'s Biomass-Based Micro-Grid Electricity Generation Projects

A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. Reports Unaudited Financial Results for First Quarter of 2009

- Teleconference to Be Held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at 8:00 a.m. EDT -

SHENYANG, China, June 16 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall/ -- A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. (Nasdaq: APWR) ("A-Power" or "the Company"), a leading provider of distributed power generation ("DG") systems in China and a fast-growing manufacturer of wind turbines, today announced its unaudited financial results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2009.

Financial Highlights
-- Revenues were $31.2 million vs. $32.3 million in 1Q08
-- Gross margin was 12.6% vs. 11.9% in 1Q08
-- Cash flow from operations was $15.7 million vs. $2.8 million in 1Q08
-- Cash on hand at March 31, 2009 was $60.6 million vs. $43.5 million at
December 31, 2008
-- For the year 2009, A-Power raises its revenue guidance from $290
million to $320 million; and its net income guidance from $29 million
to $32 million

"The first quarter is typically slow for us due to seasonality and weather conditions in the northeast region of China," said Mr. Jinxiang Lu, A-Power's Chairman and CEO. "However, we managed to forge strategic partnerships, including with GE Drivetrain Technologies, improve our cash flows and strengthen our cash position during the slow winter months. As we are poised for expansion, we have also been closely monitoring our G&A expenses."

Mr. Lu continued, "During the second quarter, we are continuing to sign DG contracts and extending our track record in China's power market. And I am very pleased to announce that we have arranged the shipment of the first two units of the 2.7MW wind turbine, made with Fuhrlander's technology and main components from Europe. They are expected to be completed for delivery by the end of July. We are gradually ramping up our production to meet the growing demand for the larger, more advanced, and more reliable wind turbines, as more and more Chinese wind farm developers are looking to increase power generation capacity. And our existing relations with GE, Fuhrlander, Norwin and several domestic, emerging Chinese wind component makers like Jiangsu Miracle, plus our experience and relationships in China's power market in general, position us to benefit well from this emerging trend of bigger and better wind turbines in China."

First Quarter 2009 Results

For the three months ended March 31, 2009, A-Power's revenues were $31.2 million, compared with $32.3 million in the first quarter of 2008. Revenues were roughly flat because of seasonality and weather conditions in Northeast China.

Gross profit was $3.9 million, about the same as the first quarter of 2008. Gross margin was 12.6%, compared with 11.9% in the first quarter of 2008. Gross margin in 1Q09 was affected by seasonality. A-Power expects its long-term gross margin for its DG business to stay at 12%-14%.

General and administrative ("G&A") expenses were $2.6 million, compared with $1.0 million in the first quarter of 2008. G&A as a percentage of revenues was 8.2%, compared with 3.2% in the first quarter of 2008. A-Power incurred higher G&A as a newly listed company, including professional consulting fees, salaries, stock-based compensation, insurance, office rentals, and other miscellaneous costs associated with being a public company.

Operating income was $1.4 million, compared with $2.8 million in the first quarter of 2008.

Net income was $1.5 million, compared with $2.9 million the first quarter of 2008.

Diluted earnings per share were $0.04, compared with $0.14 in the first quarter of 2008. For the first quarter of 2009, the weighted average number of shares on a fully diluted basis was 34.7 million as compared to 20.3 million in the same period of 2008.

Balance Sheet Highlights

As of March 31, 2009, A-Power had cash and cash equivalents of $60.6 million, compared with $43.5 million at December 31, 2008.

Total shareholders' equity rose to $157.5 million at March 31, 2009, from $156.0 million at December 31, 2008.

As of March 31, 2009, the Company recorded no short-term or long-term bank loans.

Recent Developments

On June 16, 2009, A-Power announced it has signed an agreement with Jinzhou Jinxia New Energy Co., Ltd. to ship two units of A-Power's 2.7MW wind turbines, with technology licensed from Germany's Fuhrlander AG and main components sourced from Europe, by the end of July 2009. The turbines will be installed in Daxinglong Mountain Wind Power Generation Plant in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. These units will mark A-Power's first shipments in the wind turbine business.

On June 16, 2009, A-Power announced it was briefed on a Shenyang government plan to invest a total of $44 million (RMB 300 million) in seed capital in Shenyang Power Group ("Shenyang Power"), the newly formed local DG industry alliance spearheaded by A-Power and joined by power industry conglomerates to pursue large-scale electricity-generation projects both within and outside China. In addition, the Shenyang government will also appoint a local Chinese bank and a local guaranty company to participate in the Shenyang Power alliance. A-Power is the lead investor in Shenyang Power and now owns 60% after today's investment by the Shenyang government.

On June 16, 2009, A-Power announced it has signed a contract with Sanmenxia New Energy Bio-Electricity Co., Ltd. to build electricity-generation systems using biomass as fuel in Henan Province of China. The project is expected to be completed by October 2010 and the total value of the contract is estimated to be $14.1 million (RMB 96 million).

Business Outlook

A-Power adjusted upward its revenue and after-tax net income guidance for 2009. The Company expects its revenue and after-tax net income to be at least $320 million and $32 million, respectively, for the year 2009. The revenue and after-tax net income guidance was revised from $290 million and $29 million, respectively. These targets are based on the Company's current signed DG contracts, which are subject to change based on customer payment and construction schedules. A-Power expects that it will from time to time provide periodic updates as additional major DG contracts, and wind turbine sales, are confirmed. A-Power expects that it will from time to time provide period updates when additional major DG contracts and wind turbine sales are confirmed.

Mr. Lu concluded, "A-Power in the near term has a two-pronged approach to growing its business: with the strong support from the Shenyang government, we are working to fully utilize the resources afforded by the recently formed industry alliance, Shenyang Power Group, to pursue large-scale, technologically advanced and managerially sophisticated DG and micro-grid systems both within China and overseas. Secondly, we are focused on rolling out the largest wind turbine in China - the 2.7MW grade - and ensuring its performance and its timely delivery to our customers. While we execute our plans in these two growth areas, with the help of our newly appointed CFO and COO, we are also aiming to smooth our revenues from quarter to quarter and keep expenses under control."

A-Power: Enttäuschende Zahlen, Ausblick angehoben

Alfred Maydorn

Schlechtes Wetter, neue Partner

Hallo Zusammen

http://schaeffers-daily-market-blog.duedee.com/2009/7/10/A-P…

http://www.nasdaq.com/aspxcontent/shortinterests.aspx?symbol…

Vorbörslich in USA positive Tendenz (SK 8,22$ -> Pre-Market 8.32$).

Ende Juli will APWR die ersten Windturbinen ausliefern. Bin gespannt, was danach noch so passiert...

Ende Juli will APWR die ersten Windturbinen ausliefern.

Drittens:

A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. Signs MOU to Acquire Thin-Film PV Battery Developer EVATECH Co., Ltd. of Japan

SHENYANG, China, Aug 12, 2009 /PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: APWR) (''A-Power" or "the Company"), a leading provider of distributed power generation (''DG'') systems in China and a fast-growing manufacturer of wind turbines, today announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (''MOU'') to acquire 100% of EVATECH Co., Ltd. (''EVATECH'') of Kyoto, Japan, a 22-year-old designer and manufacturer of industrial equipment for LCDs (liquid crystal displays) and PDPs (plasma display panels). The all-cash transaction is initially valued at $50 million and is expected to be primarily funded through a combination of government subsidies and loans. Government subsidies are expected to amount to 40% to 45% of the total purchase price, and auditors in Japan are currently preparing a fairness opinion for the transaction. A-Power expects to sign a definitive purchase agreement with EVATECH by September and close the transaction by the end of November 2009.

''We are truly excited about the potential of adding EVATECH's advanced thin-film solar technology to our reservoir of expertise in the design, manufacturing and installation of clean energy systems,'' said Mr. Jinxiang Lu, A-Power's Chairman and CEO. "The timing is fortuitous for alternative energy developers in China. Our central government just last month announced the 'Golden Sun' project to subsidize up to 70% of the costs of building solar farms with a total capacity of at least 500MW by 2012, versus the country's current capacity of 80MW.''

Mr. Lu continued, ''EVATECH has more than 20 years of experience in developing thin-film products, and since 2006, it has begun producing production lines for thin-film PV batteries, with dedicated R&D centers in Japan. EVATECH's world-leading PV technologies include the 'atmospheric-pressure chemical vapor deposition' (AP-CVD) manufacturing technique and the 'transparent conducting oxide' (TCO) glass, which could significantly reduce thin-film battery production costs and enhance its photoelectric conversion rate, which with EVATECH's current technology, already stands at 8%. During EVATECH's restructuring process in the courts of Japan, it was seeking a strategic buyer with complementary product offerings. A-Power's initial plan is to keep EVATECH's two current R&D centers in Japan while moving the production of thin-film PV batteries and TCO glass coating to China, thus further reducing production costs by exploiting China's low-cost manufacturing advantage.''

Based in Kyoto, EVATECH currently has 85 employees and has branch offices in Tokyo, Shanghai and Taiwan. Its main manufacturing facility and its thin-film photovoltaic R&D center are located in Kyoto. It sells to customers in about 10 countries outside Japan, 46 of which are in China, which is EVATECH's largest overseas market. Due to certain financial difficulties with the operation of its business, EVATECH is currently undergoing a rehabilitation process in the courts of Japan related to its corporate and debt restructuring.

Hallo allen investierten,

Warum gehts nur mehr bergab?????
Habe ordentlich gekauft

A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. to Develop a 49.5MW Wind Farm in Inner Mongolia for Jihe Orient Wind Energy Co., Ltd.
A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. to Develop a 49.5MW Wind Farm in Inner Mongolia for Jihe Orient Wind Energy Co., Ltd.
-- $90.5M contract includes equipment, construction and installation ---- Project to begin October 2009 --

SHENYANG, China, Sep. 15, 2009 (PRNewswire-Asia-FirstCall) -- A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: APWR) ("A-Power" or "the Company"), a leading provider of distributed power generation ("DG") systems in China and a fast-growing manufacturer of wind turbines, today announced the Company has won a "full-responsibility" contract to develop a 49.5MW wind farm in the township of Saiwusu, Guba County, Inner Mongolia ("the Saiwusu Wind Farm"), for the Urat Rear Banner-based Jihe Orient Wind Energy Co., Ltd. ("Jihe Orient"). The total value of the contract is $90.5 million.

A-Power is to supply the wind turbines, the towers and the foundations, and oversee the construction, subcontracting and installation for this project. The estimated cost breakdown is as follows: equipment procurement $84.2 million; construction and installation $4.8 million; miscellaneous $1.5 million. The project is due to commence early October this year and the estimated completion time is June 2010.

The Saiwusu Wind Farm project, owned by Jihe Orient, has been approved by the National Resources Bureau of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the permit for transmission to the electricity power grid has been issued by the Inner Mongolia Power Co. Its feed-in tariff also has been approved by China's National Development and Reform Commission.

"We are truly excited to embark on our first wind farm full-responsibility project," said Mr. Jinxiang Lu, Chairman and CEO of A-Power. "Inner Mongolia as we all know has the most promising wind energy potential among all of China's provinces. Among the 787GW estimated exploitable wind power, only 1.6GW in capacity had been developed and installed as of September 2008, according to the Chinese Renewable Energy Industry Association. A-Power is very proud to set its foot in a region with such vast resources. We look forward to leveraging our superior wind turbine technologies, our engineering and construction expertise and our excellent relations with local governments, and making headways as a participant in the robust growth of the wind power market of China."

A-Power: Neue Kursziele nach Riesen-Auftrag

Alfred Maydorn

- Was weiss man denn schon über Folgeaufträge?

A-Power to acquire Japan's Evatech for $49.9M
A-Power Energy expands solar presence with planned purchase of Evatech for $49.9M

NEW YORK (AP) -- Chinese wind turbine manufacturer A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. said Wednesday it agreed to buy Japan's Evatech Co. Ltd. for $49.9 million.

Evatech makes industrial equipment for liquid crystal displays, plasma display panels and amorphous-silicon photovoltaic panels, letting A-Power expand into the solar market while taking advantage of Chinese solar subsidies.

Evatech employs 85 workers and has branches in Tokyo, Shanghai and Taiwan.

The deal, expected to close by the end of November, is expected to contribute an unspecified amount of revenue to A-Power in late 2010. A-Power said it will fund 55 percent of the transaction from the company's internal financial resources. The balance will come from foreign-investment grants from various levels of local government.

A-Power plans to move Evatech's manufacturing facility to Shenyang by year-end and start production and co-marketing of photovoltaic products with a local construction group sometime next year, the company said. Evatech's main facility and its thin-film photovoltaic research and development center are currently located in Kyoto, Japan. An A-Power spokesman said there are no current plans for layoffs.
Was meint ihr?

http://www.goldseiten.de/content/diverses/artikel.php?storyi…

A Big Upgrade for A-Power Energy Generation Systems
By Dave Mock
September, 28

Every day, the sun rises on Wall Street, and a plethora of professional analysts wake to issue new opinions on stocks. Here at the Fool, we use our "This Just In" column to examine some of these picks-- and the track records of the analysts behind them -- so individuals can make better investing decisions.

In addition to following professional banks, anyone can use Motley Fool CAPS to monitor the collective opinions of more than 140,000 members, many of whom demonstrate better investing insight than published analysts do.

After spending most of the past year at nothing better than a four-star rank, enough top-performing CAPS members have turned bullish on China-based A-Power Energy Generation Systems (Nasdaq: APWR) recently to upgrade it to the highest rating possible – five stars. A total of 660 members have given their opinions on the renewable energy company, with many of them offering analysis and commentary explaining the recent optimism.

China is on the verge of overtaking the U.S. as the largest energy consumer, and many CAPS members expect A-Power to play a role in the rapid growth as the country adds a massive amount of electricity-generating capacity. While U.S. growth in wind energy could be a boost for companies such as Zoltek (Nasdaq: ZOLT) and Xcel Energy (NYSE: XEL), China has big wind plans of its own that could benefit A-Power. The young company has begun securing customers for its wind turbines and expects its joint venture with General Electric's (NYSE: GE) GE Drivetrain Technologies to begin trial production by the second half of next year.

Investors got revved up recently over a $90.5 million contract for a wind farm in Mongolia, and the company plans to begin work next year on a $1.5 billion offshore liquefied natural gas project for Macau Natural Gas. And like Chinese solar players such as LDK Solar (NYSE: LDK), Suntech Power (NYSE: STP), and ReneSola (NYSE: SOL), A-Power looks to capitalize on China's solar subsidies. The company recently agreed to buy Japan thin-film solar company Evatech, which is expected to start adding revenue by late next year.

CEO of A-Power and CEO of SPG. "As both a supplier to the JV Project and an
equity-owner of SPG, A-Power will be able to export its wind turbines for the
first time and reduce its exposure to the intrinsic risks associated with such
a large-scale project. We like the tremendous opportunities in the United
States, which is the world's largest wind power country. We are cognizant of
the recent policy push by the Obama Administration in the renewable energy
sector, and a stabilizing financing environment for renewable energy projects.
And we are attracted to the track record of Cielo Wind, the largest privately
held wind power project development company in the Southwest United States,
with a 16% market share for wind power installation in Texas. In this JV
Project, and the sales we expect to make to the joint venture, all of
A-Power's previous investments -- in production scale, in foreign technology
licenses, and in alliance with other power plant service companies -- are
expected to come to fruition, and we look forward to entering into a sales
agreement with the JV Project and moving ahead with the production schedule as
set forth in today's JV Agreement."

Neues Energieprojekt

Senator Schumer Misses the Full Picture on A-Power's Joint Texas Wind Farm

Thursday, a report said Democrat Senator Schumer called to restrict the stimulus funds to be used in the 600MW wind farm joint venture in Texas, which is made up of A-Power Energy Generation (APWR), U.S. Renewable Energy Group and Cielo. A-Power owns 49% of the JV. The project is expected to get funding from the Commercial Bank of China (around $1.05B) and $450M from the US stimulus package. So Sen Schumer is supporting President Obama's policy to develop renewable energy, but assails the $450M being taken from stimulus. His reason is simple: the $450M will be used to create jobs in China, not in the US. Well, it looks that way, however, he ignores that $1.05B will be from China. China is financing the major part of the project! Let me list a few facts that prove Sen Schumer is not seeing the full picture here.

1. A-Power formed a joint venture with General Electric (GE) to develop wind turbines earlier this year. According to the announcement, GE owns a majority stake in the business that will serve as GE Drivetrain Technologies' Southeast Asia manufacturing center starting in mid-2010. Now it is clear that turbine shipped from A-Power is at least 50% owned by GE. In other words, China's $1.05B investment in the 600MW project is going to create jobs associated with GE.

2. Open your eyes wider Mr. Schumer and you'll see an even bigger picture as China recently granted First Solar (FSLR) a 2GW solar farm project when Chairman Wu Bangguo of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China visited the company. The four-phase 2GW solar power plant will receive total RMB$10B(~US$1.6B) from China's commercial bank according to a report. So again China is financing the project, and it's benefiting First Solar (creating jobs in the US).

3. It's all about free trade. If you restrict $450M to the wind farm project in Texas, why would China give this 2GW project to First Solar? China has better solar PV technology than the US. Companies such as Suntech (STP), Solarfun (SOLF), Trina Solar (TSL), JA Solar (JASO) and Yingli Green (YGE) all are capable of doing as good a job as FSLR. I do praise China for 9taking the first step to cooperate on renewable energy between the two nations. There is no reason the US should say no to A-Power's wind farm, especially when President Obama has been diligently promoting a renewable energy policy since he took office.

Disclosure: Long FSLR, SOLF and APWR.

A-Power’s Texas Windfarm Doesn’t Involve U.S. Funds (Update1)

By Bloomberg News

Nov. 6 (Bloomberg) -- A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd.’s $1.5 billion wind farm venture in Texas doesn’t “involve” U.S. stimulus funds, said Chief Operating Officer John Lin.

The project will be funded by Chinese banks through loans to be obtained by unit Shenyang Power Group, which owns 49 percent of the wind farm, Lin said by phone from Shenyang, the capital of northeast Liaoning province. The venture, whose partners are U.S. Renewable Energy Group, a private-equity firm based in Washington, and Cielo Wind Power LP, a closely held company in Austin, Texas, will create at least 1,000 jobs in the U.S., he said.

The Obama administration should bar the 600-megawatt wind farm from receiving U.S. government stimulus funds because most of the power turbines would be made in China, Senator Charles Schumer said earlier today. The Texas venture will be funded by Chinese banks and wills take advantage of financing through the U.S.’s $787 billion economic stimulus law, Cappy McGarr, managing partner of U.S. Renewable Energy, said last week.

“The project does not involve directly any U.S. stimulus funds,” Lin said. “The stimulus funds may only be involved if our U.S. partners apply for tax incentives, but that will only be after the wind farm goes online.” Lin said. He declined to name the Chinese banks involved in financing the project.

Tax Credit

An Energy Department spokeswoman, Stephanie Mueller, said any application for the Texas project to benefit from a tax credit program under the stimulus would have to be “evaluated by the Energy and Treasury departments to determine eligibility.”

“But no application has been received to date,” she said in a statement.

Schumer said he was “furious” when he learned that $450 million in U.S. economic recovery aid may be used to help build the wind farm and create as many as 3,000 jobs, mostly in China.

“He doesn’t understand the project. He thinks it’s not going to create job opportunities in the U.S. That view is wrong,” Lin said.

Cielo Wind Power estimates that the project will create 330 jobs in the U.S. for the company, Lin said. Maintaining and operating the wind farm will create at least another 800, he said.

Construction for the wind farm is expected to start in March 2010, Lin said. The companies are conducting due diligence on the project and they will announce a start-up date for the wind farm when they sign the final agreement, he said.

The joint venture agreement signed last month included the purchase from A-power of up to 240 units of 2.5 megawatt wind turbines to be delivered starting March next year. The 36,000 acre-wind farm is the largest Chinese-American investment in U.S. renewable energy, according to the project partners.

WASHINGTON, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Renewable Energy Group (US-REG) has signed a cooperation agreement with A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. under which both sides commit mutually to the development and construction of a new production and assembly plant in the United States that will supply highly advanced wind energy turbines to renewable energy projects throughout North and South America. The state-of-the-art facility is expected to be 320,000 square feet and produce 1,100 megawatts of wind energy turbines annually, enough to power 330,000 homes. Upon completion, the facility is expected to employ approximately 1,000 American workers and will create additional jobs during the construction process. In addition to production and assembly at the new plant, the plan calls for many of the key wind turbine components to be sourced from U.S. manufacturers, further expanding the number of jobs created in the United States.

This agreement marks the culmination of a long process initiated in 2007 during which A-Power conducted economic analysis and sought strategic partners to enter the U.S. wind power market. On October 29, 2009, Shenyang Power Group (SPG) and US-REG announced plans to develop a $1.5 billion, 600MW wind farm across approximately 36,000 acres in Texas, for which A-Power has been designated as the turbine supplier. A-Power is a shareholder of SPG. The construction of this production and assembly plant is an important step in the strategic partnership with SPG and A-Power to develop clean wind energy in the United States. The construction of the assembly and production plant is subject to further due diligence and the signing of definitive agreements between the parties, as well as various government approvals.

"US-REG and A-Power are combining investment, expertise, and resources to bring clean, reliable, and affordable renewable technologies to the marketplace," said Ed Cunningham, US-REG Managing Partner. "This planned investment will spur tremendous growth and allow many out of work Americans to re-enter the work force in the high-paying, renewable energy sector."

"We are committed to clean energy development and we are excited to partner with US-REG to build a production and assembly plant in the United States," said John Lin, A-Power's Director and COO. "A-Power sees great opportunities in renewable energy in America and this state-of-the-art facility will be our first major step towards bringing clean, renewable energy to the world's largest wind power country."

"The decision to construct this wind energy facility in the United States is the direct result of America's commitment to renewable energy and the strength and skill of the American workforce," said Cappy McGarr, US-REG Managing Partner. "This project expects to create thousands of American jobs and is further evidence that President Obama's goal of reducing our reliance on foreign oil and achieving energy independence is opening doors to increased investment and technological developments in the U.S. renewable energy market."

A-Power Rises to 5-Month High on U.S. Turbine Plant (Update2)

By Tian Huang

Nov. 17 (Bloomberg) -- China’s A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. jumped to a five-month high after announcing plans to build a factory in the U.S. to supply wind energy turbines for renewable energy projects in North and South America.

The facility will produce 1,100 megawatts of wind engine turbines annually including the machines for a $1.5 billion wind farm venture in Texas, and hire about 1,000 workers, according to a statement from the U.S. Renewable Energy Group, a private equity firm and A-Power’s partner in the project. The location of the U.S. plant wasn’t disclosed.

The decision to build the plant in the U.S. muted criticism from U.S. Senator Charles Schumer, who two weeks earlier said the Obama administration should bar the 600-megawatt wind farm in Texas from receiving U.S. government stimulus funds because most of the power turbines would be made in China.

“This is exactly what stimulus funding ought to do: create and strengthen green manufacturing jobs in America, even if that slightly slows renewable energy production as we play catch-up to countries like China,” Schumer said in a statement today.

A-Power’s announcement is “helping the stock today,” said Pavel Molchanov, a Houston-based analyst with Raymond James & Associates. “This further solidifies the project for investors.” He kept his “outperform” rating on the stock.

Liaoning, China-based A-Power’s shares climbed 17 percent to $13.56 at 4:02 p.m. in New York trading, the highest price since June 10. The stock has more than tripled this year.

The U.S. and Chinese companies made the announcement as President Barack Obama wrapped up his first trip to China today pledging to continue the strategic and economic dialogue between the two countries.

No Stimulus

The U.S. Renewable Energy Group, and Cielo Wind Power LP, a closely held wind developer in Austin, last month formed the Texas venture with China’s Shenyang Power Group, whose largest shareholder is A-Power. The farm marks the biggest Chinese- American investment in U.S. renewable energy, the companies said. It will be built in west Texas across 36,000 acres (14,569 hectares) and funded by Chinese commercial banks, they said.

“We still maintain no stimulus money should be used to manufacture wind turbines in China,” Schumer said in today’s statement.

A-Power Chief Operating Officer John Lin said Nov. 6 the venture would not “involve” U.S. stimulus funds.

The U.S. and China are the world’s fastest-growing markets for wind power. In the three-month period ended Sept. 30, total wind power capacity rose 5.4 percent to 31,040 megawatts amid higher demand for renewable energy. Texas, Iowa and Oregon led development of wind-power during the quarter, installing more than half of the U.S. total.

On the put side, the equity's out-of-the-money December 12.50 put has been most active, with close to 1,800 contracts traded. However, about half of the volume appears to be bullishly oriented, as 50% of the contracts have crossed at the bid price, suggesting they were sold.

Meanwhile, the stock's out-of-the-money December 17.50 call is most popular, with more than 2,800 contracts traded so far. Elsewhere, the in-the-money December 15 call has seen almost 1,950 contracts cross the tape, with at least one investor initiating a ratio backspread on APWR.

More specifically, a spread strategist bought 20 APWR December 15 calls for the ask price of $1.61. However, to help fund the purchase, the investor sold 10 deeper-in-the-money December 12.50 calls for the bid price of $3.32. Since the premium received from the 10 sold calls exceeds the premium paid for the 20 bought calls, the ratio spread was established for a net credit of $0.10 ([$3.32 x 1] – [$1.61 x 2]).

The objective of the call ratio backspread is for the shares of APWR to power higher ahead of December options expiration. The maximum risk on the strategy is limited to $2.40 (difference between strikes – net credit), and is incurred if the stock finishes right at the $15 level. In this scenario, all of the purchased December 15 calls will expire worthless, while the written December 12.50 call will cost $2.50 to buy back.

On the flip side, the maximum profit potential for the ratio backspread is theoretically unlimited, should the shares of APWR muscle past breakeven at the $17.40 level (bought call strike + maximum risk).

Technically speaking, after touching a new 52-week high of $16.68 earlier in the session, the shares of APWR are now flirting with the $16.15 level. Since the start of 2009, the equity has advanced more than 239%, and is now poised to close the month above its 20-month moving average, which, in conjunction with its 10-month counterpart, has confined the stock since June.

LIAONING, China (TheStreet) -- A-Power Energy Generation Systems(APWR Quote) hit a 52-week high of $16.68 on Wednesday morning, possibly related to rumors in the market that the stock was going to be added as a component of the IBD 100 Index.

While the rumors about the index addition could not be confirmed, news from the Chinese government could also be behind the surge: the government announced a doubling of its environmental budget to $454 billion through 2015.

A-Power stock was also trading above its average daily volume of 978,100, with more than 2.2 million shares trading hands a few hours into the trading day.

While A-Power had come back down slightly from the 52-week high it hit early on Wednesday, by mid-day it was still up more than 10% on the day.

Investors were reportedly spreading rumors about the IBD Index addition on Friday morning. The IBD 100 Index is recomposed every Friday morning -- and any changes released to the market at 5 p.m. on Friday -- ahead of official appearance in the Monday edition of Investors Business Daily.

The company's stock price has experienced some recent appreciation on the announcement of a wind project in Texas at the end of October, and also talk about developing a manufacturing site in the U.S., which sent the stock price up last week also. The company could not be immediately reached for comment.

China investiert 454 Milliarden Dollar in die Umwelt: A-Power, Yingli und Suntech profitieren
Alfred Maydorn

China's Green Stimulus: A-Power, First Solar May Get Big Chunk

Following President Obama's 17% CO2 cut by 2020, China pledged a 40-45% greenhouse gas cut by 2020, an astonishing number for most analysts. We know China is leading the green way to the future, its wind and solar energy technologies are leading the world. If you are an environmentalist, it is easy to understand why China has committed itself to the green technology. Thousands of people die in China from air pollution related diseases every day, the highest number in the world.

Speaking of the $454B green stimulus package, it is even larger than China's first $680B package because it is targeting the green energy sector only. The green stimulus will be used in a similar way to how the government injected the first stimulus money into their economy. Companies with government support will get a big chunk (over 20% of the first stimulus went to State-owned companies reportedly). In the wind energy sector, Goldwind technology is a major player in China, the company is listed in the Shanghai stock exchange, with a revenue of RMB6.5B in 2008, and expected to reach RMB10B in 2009. The newcomer in China's wind energy market is Shengyang's A- Power Energy Generation (APWR); the company has grown exponentially in recent years with support from local government. The company is targeting over 2GW capacity in 2010 to meet Chinese market demand. The company is also expanding overseas, in places such as North America and South America, Africa, the Mid-East and South East Asia. We would expect the two companies to get wind farm contracts of over $50B in the coming years.

The solar sector should also get a boost as well, First Solar (FSLR) already signed a 2GW contract in inner-Mongolia, this could be part of the $454B green stimulus. Chinese domestic names should also get a big chunk of the stimulus cash. In the next decade, we may see a few renewable energy companies from China going strong globally, much like we saw Google's (GOOG) growth in the early internet age.

"We would expect the two companies to get wind farm contracts of over $50B in the coming years"

= 2,5 Mrd $ Jahresumsatz. Den ca. 7 fachen
Umsatz.
1,30 $ Gewinn X 7 X 11 KGV = 100 $ Kurs in ein paar Jahren!

Ich finde, das sind gute Aussichten :)

A-Power: A Powerful Stock for an Option Trade

With the markets trading in the red on Black Friday, there were 9 stocks fighting the trend which will be posted in this article. As always, the first thing I do is scan the list for familiar names, such as stocks which have appeared on similar scans multiple times in the past week or two (most of these names are unfamiliar, so it saves a lot of time, especially with larger lists). This indicates there may be some real momentum behind the stock, and that it could trade higher in following sessions as well. Then (if and when any of the stocks I find are familiar to me), I take a look at the chart(s) to see if I can structure a potential option trade. As stated, in this post I will name 9 stocks, but will only write about one in detail and outline an option trade I may look at opening in the near future.

This method is just one of the ways I use to find stocks for potential option trades. The first part of this post will show the list of stocks which traded higher on above average volume. The second part of this post requires knowledge of stock options. To learn more about the option strategies outlined in this post, risks, pricing, calculations, other strategies, and options in general, click here.

The table below shows the company, ticker, per share percentage increase, and volume increase (percentage increased compared to 50 day average).
Company Ticker Price Change Volume Change
A-Power Energy Generation Systems (APWR) 7.98% 214.31%
Bioject Medical Technologies Inc. (BJCT) 115.38% 697.10%
EasyLink Services International Corp. (ESIC) 13.61% 100.25%
Kandi Technolgies Corp. (KNDI) 3.96% 40.10%
MGP Ingredients, Inc. (MGPI) 10.39% 130.84%
Reliv International, Inc (RELV) 5.44% 114.58%
RINO International Corporation (RINO) 3.89% 17.32%
Tri-Tech Holding, Inc. (TRIT) 5.36% 2.63%
Deer Consumer Products, Inc. (DEER) 7.43% 34.70%

UPDATE: First I will take a minute to note a quick update on RINO which appeared on my breakout list multiple times before writing a detailed option trade in a blog post on November 17. I have taken enough profits in the Vertical Call Spreads opened to have a realized gain even if the spreads currently open expire worthless (also known as playing with the houses money). I do believe RINO has a shot at trading even higher, but I needed to take profits ,as the stock has soared nearly 25% over the past few trading days.

One stock from the list above which has appeared a number of times in the past is A-Power Energy Generation Systems (APWR). This stock has been on a tear lately and it is worth it to note they haven't reported earnings yet, but according to AOL (AOL) money & finance they are scheduled to do so on December 3. First I will give a company profile from Google Finance below.

A-Power Energy Generation Systems, Ltd. is a renewable energy company in China, engaged in providing onsite distributed power generation systems and micro power grids for industrial companies. It is also engaged in the production of wind turbines. The Company is engaged in designing, constructing, installing and testing distributed power generation and micro power grids as stand-alone facilities and for various customers in the steel, chemical, ethanol, cement, and food industries. A-Power design projects, subcontract their construction and installation to approved third-party subcontractors under its project oversight, and conduct testing on completed projects prior to turning them over to its customers. The size of its projects range from 5 megawatt to 400 megawatt and allow its customers, which require heavy electrical input, to recapture previously wasted heat and gas from their manufacturing processes to generate electricity.

It is clear this stock has momentum behind it, so I certainly wouldn't mind getting long. Therefore, I will be writing a detailed option strategy about APWR in this post. Note that many of the stocks listed above will be good plays and many will be bad plays, I list them all to show possible breakout stocks and will write about a few of the ones I am interested in trading.

As stated APWR is scheduled to report earnings December 3, therefore I will be looking to open the option strategy discussed below closer to the date to take advantage of increased levels of implied volatility.

A-Power Energy Generation Systems Earnings Option Trade: As you can see from the chart above, support for APWR is near 15 a share, below that, some minor resistance comes in at 14, however if the stock sells of below 14 it could trade down to 12.50 or even 11. I do not expect APWR to sell off below these levels, however with a bad earnings report it easily could, with the amount the stock has risen in the past few weeks. Therefore I will structure an option trade around levels of support that takes advantage of the increased levels of implied volatility leading up to earnings. I have decided to be a seller of Vertical Put Spreads. This is a very easy strategy to open as it only has two different option contracts.

I would first look to sell December 15 strike put options, and purchase the December 12.50 strike put options with the cash received (1 for 1). Based on current pricing, this spread can be opened for a net credit of roughly $60 per option spread. **NOTE** Depending on where the stock is trading and how bullish I become by December 2, I may even look to sell the December 17.50 put options and purchase the December 15 strike put options and 20 strike call options with the cash received, however that is a bit more risky and complicated.

Profit & Loss: This trade will be profitable as long as APWR maintains a price of 14.40 a share (18.2% lower than current share price), and will return a maximum of $60 per option spread or 24% of margin requirement if APWR can hold above 15 a share by December 19. The maximum loss from this strategy is $190 per option spread and will result if the stock sells off significantly (by more than 29% by December expiration).

This is a bullish strategy and should not be considered if you think the stock will sell off in the near future. However if you feel the stock could move higher in the near future, this strategy could yield a nice gain. To get a better understanding of stock options and different option strategies please check out my Simplified Stock Option Trading E-Books. These are just examples and are not recommendations to buy or sell any security; if you're more bullish/bearish, you’ll want to adjust the strike price and expiration accordingly.

The reason option volumes have surged in the last five years is because they are a great way to hedge your portfolio as well as create income off of your shares (see chart here). Keep in mind when using this strategy it is essential that broker commissions are low enough to profit from the position.

Alternative Energy Losers: A-Power Energy
By Eric Rosenbaum 12/01/09 - 05:06 PM EST

LIAONING, China (TheStreet) -- Almost every stock in the Chinese alternative energy space was surging on Tuesday afternoon -- all but one: A-Power Energy Generation Systems(APWR Quote). A-Power also happens to be one of the last Chinese alternative energy stocks with an earnings report still to come this week, on Thursday morning.

ost of A-Power's Chinese peers -- primarily in the solar as opposed to wind-turbine area where A-Power is strongest -- had earnings stacked toward the end of the season. The general outperformance of the Chinese solar players has created a momentum atmosphere in sector. A-Power had benefitted from that momentum surge also, with a huge run-up in its shares to a 52-week high recently, and was up more than $5 in the past two weeks.

The momentum story was the same on Tuesday's trading day, with players like LDK Solar(LDK Quote) at close to a 5% gain, and up almost as much as A-Power was down.

A-Power closed with a 6% loss on the day and was trading down in after-hours also. With its earnings only two days away and every other stock in the sector flying toward the sun on Tuesday, what's behind A-Power's sudden fall from grace among investors?

Granted, the stock is still in heady territory at $16.16, much closer to its 42-week high of $18.70 than its low of $3. Still, the sell-off in the A-Power shares could represent two important trends: First, the momentum swing that has dominated among Chinese alternative energy players of late takes away gains as quickly as it generates them. Short interest in A-Power has been strong, as a result. Second, after several earnings misses in recent quarters, the market may not have the confidence in A-Power to deliver on Thursday morning when it reports.

The huge run-up around the recent earnings in the sector and the Chinese stimulus package could benefit these companies in the long-term -- but with A-Power, people get nervous around the quarterly numbers," said one sector analyst who did not want to be named when talking about A-Power's big talk, and little delivery in past earnings reports.

In the last several quarters they have missed their estimates by as much as $10 million to $20 million."

On the positive side, the Chinese market, where A-Power's business is primarily based, appears to be recovering. However, many of the big projects for which the company has received a great deal of recent press -- such as a wind-turbine farm in West Texas -- often take much longer to be developed than to simply announce.

"The Texas wind farm has not even been approved yet," the sector analyst noted.

What will it take for A-Power to reverse today's selling trend? On Thursday morning, A-Power may need to come up with a meaningful surprise in its earnings. Still, investors should not expect that even as they hope for it.

"With A-Power, there is always reason to be nervous," the analyst said.

We also started our DG project in Thailand in December."

Third Quarter 2009 Financial Results

The increase was primarily due to the higher revenues from more on-going DG projects during the three months ended September 30, 2009 compared with the same period of 2008. All revenues in the third quarter of 2009 and 2008 were from the Company's DG operations.

Gross profit was $12.6 million, compared with $10.5 million in the same period of 2008, reflecting a 20% year over year growth. Gross margin was 13.1%, a slight increase over 12.4% in the same period of 2008. The improvement in gross margin was mainly attributable to higher efficiency derived from cost- saving in labor as the Company undertook larger, 30MW-plus DG projects.

Selling, general and administrative expenses amounted to approximately $3.3 million for the three months ended September 30, 2009, an increase of approximately $1.3 million, or 66.7%, compared to approximately $2.0 million for the three months ended September 30, 2008. As a percentage of revenues, these expenses increased from 2.3% in the third quarter of 2008 to 3.4% for the third quarter of 2009. The increase in selling, general and administrative expenses in both absolute terms and as a percentage of revenues was mainly attributable to higher travel expenses associated with wind turbine business, compensation for the new management team, additional consulting fees and related expenses of being a public company listed on the NASDAQ. The year-over-year incremental share-based compensation was approximately $183,000.

Operating income was $9.4 million, compared with $8.6 million in the same period of 2008, reflecting a 9% year over year increase.

Non-GAAP net income was $9.8 million compared with $9.6 million in the third quarter of 2008. Non-GAAP diluted EPS was $0.28, compared with $0.28 in the third quarter of 2008, based on a greater number of diluted shares outstanding. GAAP net loss for the third quarter was $0.6 million, compared with a net income of $9.4 million in the same period of 2008. Diluted loss per share (EPS) was $0.02, compared with $0.28 in the same period of 2008.

For the third quarter of 2009, the weighted average number of shares on a fully diluted basis was 34.9 million as compared to 33.9 million in the same period of 2008.

Summary of Financial Results (Thousand US dollars except earnings per share) For the Three Months Ended September 30, 2009 2008 Total revenue $96,647 $85,371 GAAP Net income (Loss) (623) 9,406 Stock-based compensation 341 158 Accretion expenses on convertible debt 1,034 -- Loss on change in fair value of warrants 2,958 -- Loss on change in fair value of embedded derivative - related to convertible notes 6,028 -- Deferred Financing Cost 115 -- Adjustments to the Net Income 10,476 158 Non-GAAP Net Income 9,853 9,564 GAAP Earnings (loss) per share (0.02) 0.28 Adjustment to diluted EPS 0.30 -- Non-GAAP diluted EPS 0.28 0.28 Diluted avg. number of common shares 34,925,228 33,881,785

As of September 30, 2009, the Company had cash and cash equivalents and restricted cash totaling $97.6 million, compared with $47.1 million as of December 2008.

Total shareholders' equity rose to $168.4 million at September 30, 2009, from $156.0 million at December 31, 2008.

Outlook for the Full Year 2009

A-Power today reaffirmed its revenue and non-GAAP net income guidance for 2009 of $320 million and $32 million, respectively. These targets are based on the Company's current DG contracts, which are subject to change when the Company signs new DG contracts and/or recognizes revenues from wind turbine sales during 2009. A-Power expects that it will from time to time provide periodic updates when additional major DG contracts and wind turbine sales are confirmed.

Mr. Lu concluded, "Most of 14 ongoing DG projects progressed well in the third quarter and would likely to continue in the fourth quarter as well. Going into fourth quarter, we anticipate the payments will gradually funnel in, as many construction projects are advanced and some are near the completion. As our wind turbine facility is gathering speed on production, we remain cautiously optimistic on wind turbine shipment in the fourth quarter."

Use of Non-GAAP Financial Measures

We have provided third quarter 2008 and 2009 net income and earnings (or loss) per share on a non-GAAP basis, which is the GAAP net income adjusted by adding back share-based compensation, accretion expenses on convertible debt, loss on change in fair value of warrants, loss on change in fair value of embedded derivative related to convertible notes, and deferred financing cost. We believe both management and investors benefit from referring to these non-GAAP measures in assessing our business operation and financial performance. These non-GAAP operating measures are useful for understanding and assessing underlying business performance and operating trends. We expect to continue providing net income on a non-GAAP basis using a consistent method on a quarterly basis.

A-Power: Angst vor den Zahlen - Entscheidung in wenigen Stunden

Alfred Maydorn
