      (July 29, '09, 8:11 Edahn Golan)

      http://www.idexonline.com/portal_FullNews.asp?id=32705

Diamond valuation results of Lucara Diamond Corp.’s Lesotho bulk sample give the goods a high $437 per carat tag price. Shlomo Tidhar of Galaxy Diamond Expertise SA did the valuation of the 3,890 carat parcel in June.

Lucara is an African focused diamond exploration and development company seeking to become a mid-tier diamond producer. One of its projects is the Mothae project in Lesotho.

According to Galaxy, the high valuation of the Mothae diamonds is highly influenced by the presence of large, high value stones. One of them is a 24.59 carat diamond valued at more than $320,000. “The presence of stones of this type is highly unusual given the small size of the sample and demonstrates the potential for exceptionally high value stones.”

Galaxy noted that six diamond fragments totaling 45 carats were recovered from an initially greater than 60 carat diamond. It estimated that if the diamond had remained intact, the overall diamond parcel would have been increased by $400,000, raising the average value of the parcel to $540 p/c, with a modeled value of $684 p/c.

William Lamb, president and COO of Lucara said the valuation has confirmed the presence of large high value stones at Mothae. Coupled with diamond grade of 4.7 carats per hundred tons, the results “provide sufficient encouragement to continue our development on the Mothae project.”

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Nov 10, 2009 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Lucara Diamond Corp. ("Lucara" or the "Company") (LUC) is pleased to announce that it has entered into a Sale Agreement to acquire a 70.268% interest in Boteti Exploration (Pty) Ltd. ("Boteti"), which holds a 100% interest in the AK6 project, from De Beers Prospecting Botswana (Pty) Limited ("De Beers"). The AK6 project is an advanced diamond development project located in the Orapa district of Botswana, the largest diamond producing region in the world.

A mining license was awarded to the project in October 2008. The development of AK6 is planned as an open pit operation. Detailed design work will commence as soon as the feasibility study has been updated, which is expected to be completed in the first half of 2010. It is expected that the AK6 mine will be in production within 18 months of completion of the feasibility study update, subject to approval from the Government of the Republic of Botswana. In addition, the Company expects to prepare an NI 43-101 technical report on the property within four months following the closing of the transaction.

There is excellent infrastructure within a reasonable distance from the AK6 deposit including paved roads, water and power from the national grid. The project is proximal to some of Botswana's largest diamond mines. The AK6 body comprises three intersecting pipe-shaped lobes of diamond-bearing kimberlite with similar geology to the nearby diamond mines.

Botswana has one of the highest credit ratings in Africa (A+), a democratically elected government since independence in 1966 and internationally recognized transparent mining regulation. It maintains one of the highest and most consistent economic growth rates in the world.

Mr. William Lamb, President and COO of Lucara, commented, "We are extremely excited about this acquisition and are looking forward to working with African Diamonds on the development of the AK6 project. The Company's mission since inception has been to build a leading African-focused diamond production and development company. With this acquisition, we are well on our way to achieving that goal. We have the Mothae project in Lesotho going into pre-production test mining next year and now the AK6 deposit in Botswana expected the year after. AK6 adds another strong asset to Lucara's growing portfolio.

Lucara Produces 54-Carat Stone From Mothae

      Quote
Lucara Diamond reported finding a 53.5-carat, type IIa diamond during its first week of production at the Mothae mine in Lesotho. Kimberlite processing commenced this week. William Lamb, the president of Lucara, said that producing such a large stone during the mine's initial start-up phase represented a huge win for the company.

Lucara Diamond initiated production there in May and expects to achieve its plant capacity within 45 days. The first tender from Mothae is expected to be held during the fourth quarter of 2010.

In related news, Nyakallo Mpatuoa was appointed managing director of Mothae Diamonds, the operating subsidiary of Lucara's Mothae mine, this week. Mpatuoa is a geologist with 30 years of experience in mineral exploration. She most recently served for nine years as Lesotho's commissioner of mines.

Lucara Announces African Diamond Acquisition Closed

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, Dec 21, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX News Network) --

Lucara Diamond Corp. (TSX VENTURE: LUC) ("Lucara" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that the acquisition of African Diamonds PLC ("AFD") has closed. The acquisition was carried out by way of an English court-approved Scheme of Arrangement. All court and regulatory approvals have now been received and AFD has ceased trading on the AIM exchange.

Pursuant to the Scheme of Arrangement, Lucara has acquired all of the issued and outstanding shares of AFD on the basis of 0.80 of a common share of Lucara for each AFD common share (see news release dated October 4, 2010). Lucara now holds a 100% interest in the AK6 project, an advanced, high-value diamond development project located in the Orapa/Letlhakane kimberlite district of Botswana.

William Lamb, President and CEO, commented, "This acquisition consolidates ownership of the AK6 project, benefiting all shareholders, and creates a new premier diamond developer in Africa. Development of the AK6 mine is continuing at a rapid pace and is one of the few new diamond mines coming into production in the near term. AK6 is known for its high quality stones and is expected to have a long life mine of 12+ years with substantial expansion opportunities from additional resources at depth."

The AK6 project development is on schedule for commissioning in Q4 2011. Site earthworks, which commenced in September, are well advanced with all major plant terraces being established. The civils contract has been awarded and site establishment will be completed for initial concrete pours by end January. Off-site, the mine access road upgrade is progressing well. The re-alignment is done and the first completed section of the road is open to traffic. Engineering progress is advancing in support of the major contract awards and the construction schedule. A full update will be provided early in the New Year.

Lucara Expects Commissioning of AK6 by 4Q

Lucara Diamond stated that commissioning of their AK6 diamond development project in Botswana will commence by the end of this year and full production could be expected in early 2012. The mine is expected to deliver 400,000 carats of high quality diamonds in its first year of operation. Project execution is on target and on budget with commissioning scheduled to start in the fourth quarter.

On an unrelated note, Lucara will carry out a non-brokered private placement of up to an aggregate of 60 million common shares at $1 each. Net proceeds of the private placement will be used towards the development of the AK6 mine and at its Mothae diamond mine in Lesotho. Common shares issued, pursuant to the private placement, will be subject to a four-month hold period.

      Lucara Secures $50M in Financing
Jul 8, 2011 10:28 AM By Jeff Miller
Comment Email Print Facebook Twitter Share

RAPAPORT... Lucara Diamond secured a $50 million credit facility from Zebra Holdings and Lorito Holdings, each an investment company owned by the Adolf H. Lundin trust. The facility has a maturity date of December 31, 2013, and requires quarterly repayments of principal commencing September 30, 2012. No interest is payable during the term of the facility, but an interest rate of 5 percent will accrue if the facility is not repaid by the maturity date or there is an event of default. The facility was secured by a pledge of shares in the subsidiary that controls the mining company's AK6 diamond mine in Botswana.

Lucara has been working for some time to secure a round of funding and this debenture provided the highest value to shareholders, according to the statement. ''The debenture provides certainty of funds, greater flexibility and reduced financial risk for the company, as it continues to rapidly develop and construct the AK6 mine in Botswana with ongoing trial mining, in Lesotho, at Mothae."

William Lamb, Lucara's president, explained that this $50 million debenture demonstrated "the robustness" of its AK6 project. ''The funds are the final piece in the puzzle allowing Lucara to fully finance the construction of AK6 and allow the company to take advantage of an ever improving rough diamond market."

Construction of the process facilities and associated infrastructure is on schedule, and was sufficiently complete at the end of Q1 2012 to allow for commissioning activities to commence in April.

All sections of the process plant have been individually operated with run-of-mine ore with a number of these sections having already been run at or above design capacity. To date, as part of the commissioning process, more than 5,000t of ore has been processed through the front-end of the plant. Lucara Reports Excellent Karowe Sales Results

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 10, 2012) - Lucara Diamond Corp. (TSX:LUC)(BOTSWANA:LUC)(NASDAQ OMX First North:LUC) is pleased to report results of the Karowe diamond sale completed on September 10, 2012. A total of 48 lots were put up for sale containing 52,231 carats of diamond. All lots were sold, including the 741 carats withheld from the previous sale for an average price of $257 per carat yielding gross proceeds of $13.4 million. The highest value stone sold was a 16.44 carat diamond which sold for $460,484 or $28,010 per carat.

The diamonds were sold on tender with pre-sale viewings in Gaborone and Antwerp. Viewings in Antwerp were held at the offices of Bonas-Couzyn. The large size of the diamond parcel sold results in part from the 7 week operating period since the close of the most recent sale in July, as compared to the normal 5 week sales cycle.

Mr. William Lamb, CEO of Lucara, noted, "We are pleased with the results of the third sale of Karowe diamonds. The excellent value obtained confirms the high quality of the Karowe production. This is especially significant in the current depressed state of the rough diamond market. The success of the sale complements the ongoing successes at Karowe. For the month of August, design capacity through the process plant was achieved, exceeding our forecast. Infrastructure projects previously reported remain on track and are also contributing to the advances being made on the mine."

The Company expects carat production at Karowe to meet or exceed the previously published forecast for 2012. To ensure consistency of sale parcels, the Company has decided to hold fewer sales of larger sales volumes over the remainder of the year. It is anticipated that two more sales of Karowe diamonds will take place in 2012 with the next sale being held in November.

While the rough diamond market remains challenging, we are pleased with Karowe's pace and stage of development and we continue to improve production while maintaining our outstanding safety record with zero lost time injuries this year."

      Starker Rebound.

Schade, dass es mit dem Jahresendkurs von 3$ nichts mehr werden wird.

Da war ich wohl zu gierig.

Die 2$ dürften aber in den nächsten 3-6 Monaten wohl machbar sein.

      Jedenfalls kein Verkauf darunter.

      Lucara Provides Exploration Update

      http://www.juniorminingnetwork.com/junior-miner-news/press-r…

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Oct. 14, 2015) - Lucara Diamond Corp. (TSX:LUC)(BOTSWANA:LUC)(NASDAQ OMX Stockholm:LUC) ("Lucara" or the "Company") is pleased to provide an update on its new exploration assets located on trend with the Company's Karowe Mine in Botswana. The Company was awarded two high-potential exploration licences in 2014. These licences host at least three known diamondiferous kimberlites, BK02, AK11 and AK12.

Approval has been received from the Botswana Department of Environmental Affairs ("DEA") for the extraction of samples from the BK02 kimberlite. A bulk sample plant has been constructed and commissioned. It is expected that exploration sample processing will commence during November 2015 with initial results being achieved before the end of the year. Contracts for the extraction and transport of the 5,000 tonne sample are in place and it is expected that the earth moving equipment will be mobilized to the BK02 kimberlite within the next two weeks. Initial work will involve overburden removal and trenching to determine the optimal sample areas prior to sample extraction.

Applications are in progress for the material extraction from the AK11 and AK12 kimberlites along with the required permits to allow drilling on the respective sites.

Lucara Announces the Payment of A Special Dividend

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - July 19, 2016) - Lucara Diamond Corp. ("Lucara" or the "Company") (TSX:LUC)(BOTSWANA:LUC)(NASDAQ OMX Stockholm:LUC), is pleased to announce that the Board of Directors has approved the return of Canadian $172 million to shareholders by way of a special dividend of Canadian $0.45 per share to the holders of the Company's common shares. The special dividend will be paid in addition to the Company's existing progressive 2016 quarterly dividend of Canadian $0.015 per share.

A total dividend payment of Canadian $0.465 per share is hereby declared and will be paid on September 15, 2016 to holders of record of the Company's common shares at the close of business on September 2, 2016.

      Lesedi La Rona

The 1,109 rough diamond is discovered November 2015 by Lucara Diamonds (LUC.to).

It is put up for auction in 2016 in an auction which, if successful, would break the stranglehold of diamond cutters on the market.

In June last year at Sotherby's the bids go to U$61m, but it fails to make reserve of U$70m. The Lesedi La Rona is withdrawn, LUC and Lamb lick wounds.

And now, September 2017, it sells for U$53m

U.S. adds Russian diamond sanctions after loophole complaints

By Jael Holzman | 04/13/2022 01:26 PM EDT

The U.S. government has taken additional actions to clamp down on Russian diamond imports in an attempt to stop the gems from evading sanctions related to the war in Ukraine.

After Russia invaded Ukraine in February, President Joe Biden sanctioned Russian state-backed diamond miner Alrosa and its CEO, Sergei Ivanov, and issued more general sanctions on Russian diamonds. The maneuver was targeted at blocking gems that potentially helped fund Russia’s invasion from entering the U.S., but an apparent loophole in existing customs rules allowed many Russian diamonds a way to legally enter the United States (Greenwire, March 24).

Last week, the Treasury Department further cracked down on Russian diamond imports by adding Alrosa to its list of sanctioned “specially designated nationals,” meaning any of its assets in the U.S. could be blocked and seized by the government.

      Klasse Ergebnis von Lucara.
      19 Mio. USD net profit.
