      Hallo Community,

Warum? Stabile politische Verhältnisse, junge Bevölkerungsstruktur, größte Volkswirtschaft in Lateinamerika und weltweit bereits an 10. Stelle und v.a. keine große Exportabhängigkeit, sondern enorm großer Binnenmarkt ... Und dann kommen noch die weltweit größten Sportevents (Olympia und WM) in den nächsten Jahren nach Brasilien und alle Welt schaut auf die Copacabana. Wie also investieren?

      http://www.stock-world.de/ac_analysen/Ausland/1989294-Net_Se…

Net Servicos de Comunicacao S.A. 1Q10 Earnings Release

SAO PAULO, April 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ Net Servicos de Comunicacao S.A. (BM&FBOVESPA: NETC3 and NETC4; Nasdaq: NETC; and Latibex: XNET), the largest cable company in Brazil and one of the largest in Latin America with integrated services that include Pay TV ("NET"), Digital Video ("NET Digital"), High Definition Digital Video ("NET Digital HD"), bidirectional broadband internet access ("NET Virtua") and Voice ("NET Fone via Embratel"), announces today its results for the first quarter of 2010 ("1Q10").

NET is a pioneer in the launch of HD, and this year one of its main objectives is to expand the number of subscribers with access to high definition (HD), taking advantage of the opportunity presented by the World Cup. As a result of its efforts, NET has become the leading Pay TV operator in the HD segment in Brazil and enjoys the highest recall among operators offering this service, based on the survey conducted in February this year by TNS Research International. With various packages featuring channels that truly spark the interest of consumers, NET continues to expand its leadership.

In partnership with the Sao Paulo state government, in December 2009, NET launched the low-income internet service "Internet Popular" in 47 of the state's municipalities, including the state capital. Sales of this service have had a positive impact on results, since it not only helps fuel Broadband sales in Sao Paulo state, but also expands internet access to a larger share of the state's population.

The Pay TV subscriber base ended 1Q10 with 3,776,000 clients, up 13% from 3,347,000 at the end of 1Q09. The Broadband Base totaled 2,988,000 clients at end 1Q10, up 22% from 2,452,000 in 1Q09. Lines in service at end 1Q10 stood at 2,662,000, up 29% from 2,058,000 lines at end 1Q09.

Net Revenue climbed from R$ 1,082.2 million in 1Q09 to R$ 1,260.6 million in 1Q10, representing a 16% increase, basically due to the expansion in the subscriber base for all services offered.

Operating Costs rose from R$ 515.8 million in 1Q09 to R$ 601.4 million in 1Q10, representing a 17% increase. As a percentage of net revenue, operating costs were stable at 47.7%. The increase reflects the higher costs with programming, broadband usage and call center operations fueled by the expansion in the customer and product base. On the other hand, the Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) agreement to use Embratel's transmission capacity reduced operational costs by R$ 41.4 million.

Selling, General and Administrative Expenses were R$ 275.1 million in 1Q10, up 4% from R$ 265.3 million in 1Q09. As a percentage of net revenue, these expenses fell from 24.5% to 21.8%. Selling Expenses in 1Q10 increased 17% from 1Q09, mainly reflecting the launch of the marketing campaign "Eu quero e mais", and remained stable at 9.8% as a percentage of net revenue. G&A Expenses increased 7% from 1Q09, due to higher expenses with systems monitoring services in the field and with base and billing management. As a percentage of net revenue, these expenses declined from 12.4% in 1Q09 to 11.4% in 1Q10.

EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization) was R$ 369.2 million in 1Q10, expanding by 30% from R$ 284.2 million in 1Q09. Meanwhile, EBITDA margin stood at 29% in the quarter, in line with the Company's expansion strategy.

In 1Q10, Capex was R$ 161.0 million, 24% lower than in 1Q09. The lower investment reflects the lower expenses with home installations. Of the total invested, the variable portion represented 72% and was mainly allocated to home installations, purchases of digital and high-definition decoders and infrastructure adjustments.

Investors should increase holdings in banks and real estate companies, including PDG Realty SA Empreendimentos e Participacoes, which are showing “attractive valuations,” Pactual wrote. The Rio de Janeiro-based bank, which forecasts the Bovespa will rise to 86,000 in the next 12 months, a 41 percent jump from yesterday’s close, recommended buying airlines including Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA and pay-TV cable company Net Servicos de Comunicacao SA.

      PERFORMANCE REPORT - CONSOLIDATED 2Q10

      OPERATING PERFORMANCE

The Pay TV subscriber base ended 2Q10 with 3,883,000 clients, up 12% from 3,480,000 in 2Q09. Net additions in the quarter totaled 107,000 clients, showing that the measures being taken by the Company have been effective in recovering additions to approach previous levels. The Digital Video base reached 1,100,000 clients, up 16% from 2Q09 and representing 28% penetration in the overall Pay TV base.

The Broadband Base ended the quarter with 3,100,000 subscribers, up 19% from 2,605,000 at the end of 2Q09. Net additions totaled 112,000 in the quarter. Penetration in the Pay TV base came to 80%, but represented only 34% of households in bidirectional areas.

The number of Fixed Lines in Service totaled 2,765,000 in 2Q10, with net additions of 103,000 lines in the quarter. As a result, NET ended 2Q10 with 10,847,000 Revenue Generating Units (RGUs), an increase of 16% over the 9,323,000 RGUs recorded in 2Q09.

The churn rate (disconnection rate) for the Pay TV subscriber base in the last 12 months declined to end 2Q10 at 15.2%. The Company believes this improvement is due to specific initiatives to retain clients.

Consolidated average revenue per user (ARPU) was R$135.44 in 2Q10, up 2% from R$132.54 in 2Q09, chiefly due to the expansion in the NET Digital HD subscriber base.

      FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE
Net revenue in 1H10 was R$2,570.5 million, an 18% increase from the R$2,183.4 million in net revenue in 1H09, which is basically explained by the expansion in the client base for all services provided by NET.

July 20 (Bloomberg) -- Net Servicos de Comunicacao SA, Brazil’s biggest cable-TV provider, said second-quarter profit fell 69 percent because of higher costs and currency losses.

Net income declined to 56 million reais ($31 million) in the three months ended June 30 from 180 million reais a year earlier, the Sao Paulo-based company said today in a regulatory filing. Profit missed the 73.3 million reais predicted by analysts, the average of six estimates compiled by Bloomberg. Sales advanced 19 percent to 1.31 billion reais.

Operating costs rose 11 percent to 620.1 million reais in the quarter as it paid more for programming, call-center services and Internet bandwidth, according to the filing. A decrease in the value of the real against the U.S. dollar led to a loss of 15.9 million reais on Net’s dollar-denominated loans, compared with a 133.1 million-real gain a year earlier.

“Net additions for broadband and voice came in a bit below expectations,” Banco BTG Pactual SA said in a note to investors. “Client-base penetration in both cases is already very high, which justifies the numbers.”

The company ended the quarter with 3.88 million pay-TV subscribers, up 12 percent from a year earlier. Its broadband client base grew 19 percent to 3.1 million customers. Average revenue per user grew 2 percent to 135.44 reais per household.

Net rose 0.2 percent to 18.18 reais in Sao Paulo trading at 9:16 a.m. New York time. The shares had dropped 24 percent this year before today, while Brazil’s benchmark Bovespa index has fallen 8 percent.

Slim Saving Money for Net as Bid May Boost Rating

      July 26, 2010, 6:49 PM EDT

By Gabrielle Coppola and Ye Xie

July 26 (Bloomberg) -- Speculation that billionaire Carlos Slim will buy Net Servicos de Comunicacao SA, Brazil’s biggest cable-TV provider, is driving down the company’s borrowing costs relative to America Movil SA from a record high.

The gap between the yield on Net’s 7.5 percent bonds due in 2020 and 5 percent notes maturing the same year sold by Slim’s America Movil shrank 50 basis points, or 0.5 percentage point, in the past two months to 200, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

The difference will narrow further because Sao Paulo-based Net may have its credit rating upgraded should America Movil increase its current 49 percent share and take a controlling stake, according to Credit Suisse Group AG. An America Movil unit said in a May 26 regulatory filing that a law change allowing foreign companies to control Brazilian cable-TV operators would give it the right to boost its Net stake to 51 percent through a local subsidiary.

“The bond has significant potential in terms of moving up the credit curve,” said Luz Padilla, who manages developing- nation debt at DoubleLine Capital LP in Los Angeles. “The fact that it has Carlos Slim in the capital structure is obviously a plus.”

Net, which aims to offer packages of mobile, home-phone, video and Internet service to customers, is rated BB+ by Standard & Poor’s, one step below investment grade, and an equivalent Ba1 by Moody’s Investors Service. Mexico City-based America Movil, Latin America’s largest wireless carrier, is rated A-, four levels higher, by S&P and A2 by Moody’s, a difference of five grades.

Bovespa Fluctuates on Rising U.S. Jobless Claims, Net’s Gain

Aug. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Brazil´s Bovespa stock index fluctuated from gains to losses as initial jobless claims in the U.S. increased unexpectedly, offsetting a rally for Net Servicos de Comunicacao SA.

[...] Net Servicos rose the most since October 2008 after Embratel Participacoes SA said it plans to buy all the preferred shares of the cable-TV operator.

      [...]

Net surged 14 percent to 22.74 reais. Embratel will offer 23 reais per share, or 23 percent more than Net’s average share price in the past 30 days, the Rio de Janeiro-based company said in a regulatory filing today.

Embratel, controlled by billionaire Carlos Slim, is boosting its stake in Net after Telefonica SA agreed to pay 7.5 billion euros ($9.9 billion) for Portugal Telecom SGPS SA’s stake in the company that controls Vivo Participacoes SA. The Portuguese telephone operator agreed on July 28 to buy a stake in Telemar Norte Leste SA, known as Oi, for 8.44 billion reais.

Brazil's Embratel Offers To Buy Net ADSs For $13.11 Each

SAO PAULO (Dow Jones)--Brazilian long-distance telecommunications provider Embratel Participacoes SA (EBTP4.BR) said Tuesday it will extend a public tender offer to buy all preferred shares of local cable-TV provider Net Servicos de Comunicacao SA (NETC, NETC4.BR) to holders of the company's America Depositary Shares.

Embratel said it will offer $13.11 per Net ADS. NET shareholders must manifest their intention to sell shares via the public tender offer by Sept. 28.

Earlier this month, Embratel postponed the date to hold a public tender offer to buy all preferred shares of Net to Sept. 29 from Sept. 9 after the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission demanded the company provide more details about the operation.

The operation, if completed, will amount up to 4.58 billion Brazilian reals ($2.6 billion), considering Embratel's offer of BRL23.00 per NET share.

Embratel said it is planning to increase its stake in NET given its confidence in the expansion of the cable TV market in the next few years. Embratel is controlled by Telmex Internacional (TELINT.MX).
