Karnalyte Resources is a potash company. The Company, incorporated in 2007, is engaged in the business of exploration and development of high quality agricultural, industrial potash and magnesium products. Karnalyte’s primary objective is to become a leading low-cost producer of high quality potash using proprietary improvements to a known solution mining process, with minimal environmental impact. We plan to produce high quality, low sodium, uniformly sized granular potash pellets for the agricultural market and industrial grade potash compacted flakes.

Company: Karnalyte Resources Inc.
Project: Wynyard
Location: 2.5 kilometres south of Wynyard
Est. Resource: 242 million tonnes (indicated and inferred resource)
Est. Mine Life: 28 years
Est. Production Start: 2013
Advantage: Solution mining
Karnalyte CEO Robin Phinney is in the habit of speaking excitedly about his company's Wynyard project.
After recently celebrating the addition of Karnalyte's shares to the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX: KRN), he's used to explaining the company's plan to be the first new potash producer in Saskatchewan in decades.
"If I get my way (we) sure will be, yes. We're full speed at it right now, that's what we're doing," Phinney said.
The company's biggest advantage is its plan to mine potash using the solution method, which sees brine injected to the potash level, dissolving the mineral. The potash-laden solution is then brought to the surface where it is dried and the nutrient is extracted.
Phinney said a solution mine will cut construction time and costs for Karnalyte's potential Wynyard mine.
"We don't have to spend long periods of time developing an underground," he explained.
"(Also) we'll be able to take advantage of everything that's in the current industry from the logistics of the rail, the roads -- everything that's right across our property. We couldn't be luckier to find a deposit with so many logistics in our favour."
Karnalyte, he added, won't just be mining potash from its property. The Alberta-based firm is after a mineral called carnallite, which contains both potassium chloride -- the form of potash fertilizer producers require -- and magnesium. For every five tonnes of potash produced at the site, the company also expects to produce two tonnes of high-grade magnesium-oxide.
"We're the only ones that have a magnesium kicker, if you want," he said. "Everything is high-grade in this deposit too, that's what's so very special about it."
Production at Wynyard could begin as early as 2013, perhaps to the dismay of competitors.
"I think we just popped ourselves into the front of the race, and they're not going to be happy about it, I don't think," Phinney said.
Alles sehr vielversprechend!

KARNALYTE RESOURCES INC. SELECTS ENGINEERING FIRM TO CONDUCT FEASIBILITY STUDY ON THE WYNYARD CARNALLITE PROJECT
CALGARY, Jan. 19 /CNW/ - Karnalyte Resources Inc. ("Karnalyte" or the
"Corporation") (TSX: KRN) today announced that it has selected a subsidiary of
Foster Wheeler AG's Global Engineering and Construction Group ("Foster
Wheeler") to perform a feasibility study on the Wynyard Carnallite Project.
The NI 43-101 compliant feasibility study will consider the initial
construction of a 500,000 tonnes per year facility and includes a ramp up to a
2 million tonnes per year facility within five to six years.
The contemplated feasibility study is expected to include:
-- selection of the location and drilling of additional surface drill holes
in the area investigated with 3D seismic to increase the confidence
level of the resource estimate;
-- further geotechnical and solubility testing of drill-core samples;
-- advancement of the environmental impact study;
-- completion of regulatory permitting, and more detailed marketing
studies;
-- front-end engineering and design work on the surface facility;
-- laboratory test work on deposit samples to further optimize the solution
mining operation; and
-- detailed design work on cavern and brine field as well as on the brine
processing facilities.
"The selection of Foster Wheeler, to perform the feasibility study, is an
important step forward in the advancement of our development plan for the
Wynyard Carnallite Project," said Robin Phinney, President and CEO of
Karnalyte Resources Inc. "The results of the feasibility study should provide
us with the necessary information to make additional project development
decisions. We are confident that the study results will support the compelling
data we have collected to date."
Under the terms of the contract, Foster Wheeler will also coordinate
preparation of the overall Environmental Impact Statement, which will advance
concurrently with the feasibility study. GeoEngineers Inc. ("GeoEngineers")
will perform environmental and geotechnical engineering services for the
study. ERCOSPLAN Ingenieurgesellschaft Geotechnik und Bergbau mbH
("ERCOSPLAN") of Erfurt Germany will perform mining engineering services for
the underground mining portion of the study. Karnalyte anticipates the total
cost of the feasibility study to be approximately $9 million, which includes
all third party components of the study and additional owner's costs and
contingencies.
Karnalyte anticipates the completion date of the feasibility study prior
to December 31, 2011 and the results will support a final decision on whether
to proceed to the construction of a solution mine and surface facility for
subsequent production.
