IRW-PRESS: Canada Nickel Company Inc.: Canada Nickel Company kündigt Entdeckung

vielversprechendsten Palladium-Platin-Abschnitts - 2,6 g/t Palladium + Platin

- Zweite Nickelentdeckung - Zone East.

TORONTO, 19. Mai 2020 - Canada Nickel Company Inc. (TSX-V:CNC) ("Canada Nickel"
oder das "Unternehmen" -
https://www.commodity-tv.com/play/canada-nickel-company-rece…

aufrichtigen Dank aussprechen.

Neue Nickel-Entdeckung - Zone Ost

As demand from the electric vehicle (EV) space continues to accelerate, nickel sulfate supply will struggle to meet demand, with output expected to peak in 2027, according to Wood Mackenzie.

The research firm predicts that production of the raw material could rise from 211,000 tonnes in 2019 to a peak of 450,000 tonnes in 2027. The EV sector could drive demand to reach 800,000 tonnes by 2035.

Nickel sulfate is a key element in the cathodes of the lithium-ion batteries used to power EVs, but it has historically been used in solution as the electrolyte in nickel plating. As a more minor application, nickel sulfate is used to manufacture catalysts.

Timmins Could be Hosting a Monster Nickel Deposit

Poised for a nickel rush, Canada Nickel is confident its Crawford nickel-cobalt sulphide project could be a global-scale producer

Does nickel in Timmins have the glamour of gold?

There have been significant nickel finds in the rock formations around the famed northeastern Ontario mining camp but the production results always fell short of expectations.

Canada Nickel Company's Crawford nickel-cobalt sulphide project could quickly be changing that narrative.

Helmed by one of the world's foremost nickel experts, company chair and CEO Mark Selby believes the 4,900-hectare property, 40 kilometres north of Timmins, has the potential to be a world-class, district-scale deposit.

"We're looking at something where this could become the largest nickel sulphide mine in the world," said Selby to Northern Ontario Business, "short of one mine in Russia."

With two rigs turning this summer to complete a drill program on the property's Main and East Zones, Selby is brimming with confidence that Crawford could rival the annual output of Vale and Glencore's production in Sudbury and Raglan, Que.

"First phase (of mining) we'll be producing 30,000 to 35,000 tonnes initially, with more than enough resource there to double up production."

The Toronto-based mine developer started a preliminary economic assessment (PEA) in June of Crawford, due out by year's end, and then proceed to feasibility study and complete that by the end of 2021.

Earlier this year, the fledgling nickel company turned some heads in proclaiming it was sitting on the world's 12th largest resource of nickel sulphide with less than half the property drilled off and five nearby option properties yet to be tapped.

Drilling off the East Zone last spring led to a separate discovery of a zone of palladium group metals followed in June by more encouraging drill results from the Main Zone in grades and thicknesses, which only boosted the project's economics.

More recently, after finding some nickel-bearing intersections in some historical drilling and geological data, Selby announced in a July 13 news release that they are "just scratching the surface" in realizing the "large-scale potential" of the property.

"New nickel sulphide discoveries are really rare and new palladium-platinum discoveries are also pretty rare," said Selby in an earlier interview. "It was exciting on both fronts."

Canada Nickel and Crawford are a cornerstone project situated within a more than 70,000-hectare land package known as Project 81, and held by Noble Mineral Exploration.

The area yields good geological genetics as it's just north of Glencore's Kidd Creek copper-zinc, the world's deepest best metal operation.

It's a mineral-rich environment with multiple deposits and showings of gold, cobalt, copper and base metals that has Noble receptive to securing more development partners.

The underexplored area had been owned by a forestry company until Noble acquired it in 2011.

The last time Crawford had such a systematic workup was in the mid-1960s after the Kidd Creek discovery, said Selby. INCO flew airborne surveys over huge swaths of Northern Ontario, charting every big magnetic anomaly, then punching one or two drill holes into each one.

Those results didn't amount to anything impressive, so it sat for decades until Noble came onto the scene decades later.

Past exploration efforts, Selby said, just clipped making a discovery. They now have a better understanding of the geological picture than even a decade ago.

Before hauling in the drill rigs in 2018, Noble and its partner, Spruce Ridge Resources, applied a full suite of geophysics to zero in on the "meatier parts" of the property, said Selby.

That preparatory work made every metre count, as the first drill holes at the end of 2018 helped crack the discovery open, "and we've run with it since then."

The drilling results were encouraging enough to warrant the creation of Canada Nickel as a spinoff company with Selby selected last fall to advance the discovery.

Selby had some familiarity with Crawford from his 2001 to 2007 stint with INCO in a strategic planning capacity.

The assay results he viewed in 2019 looked more promising than the western Qubec nickel project he just left that summer.

Selby, the former president-CEO of RNC Minerals (since renamed Karora Resources) shepherded the Dumont nickel-cobalt project near Amos, Que. from an early-resource stage to the world's second largest nickel reserve, fully permitted and ready for development.

Unlike the tighter spacing one would use to drill off a streaky high-grade gold zone, Selby explained Crawford contains "large slugs of rock" with consistent mineralization over several hundred metres enabling them to use a wider spacing to calculate and publish an inferred resource in short order.

"The combination of geophysics and the nature of the deposit itself allows you to create a big resource very quickly."

Thirteen hundred metres of drilling later, Canada Nickel posted Crawford's maiden resource estimate in February with a measured and indicated nickel resource of 600 million tonnes, grading 0.25 per cent nickel, with inferred resources of 310 million tonnes, grading 0.23 per cent.

The company is currently running an infill drilling program on its Main and East Zones at Crawford in anticipation of posting a resource update by the end of this month.

Finding deep nickel sulphide deposits are exceedingly rare, said Selby, maybe with one or two found per decade, Vale's Voisey's Bay mine in Labrador being one.

"You don't find good, big ones very often."

High-grade nickel sulphide deposits are fairly small, and companies can burn through a lot of capital going after them.

"No one's finding multi-million-tonne, high-grade nickel deposits anymore," Selby said. The trend is toward mining lower-grade, big-tonnage deposits, which can be very profitable.

"We think we've got one here."

Compared to laterite nickel deposits, usually found closer to surface, Selby said there are better downstream processing benefits with ore from a nickel sulphide mine, which can be converted into a concentrate where the material is a much higher grade than the original ore.

With nickel prices hovering around US$13,480, the timing is right for this discovery.

After some short-term pain and constricted metal demand due to the global pandemic, Selby firmly believes nickel is poised to go on a big run, led by China, which jumpstarted the last commodities supercycle in the mid- to late 2000s.

Coming out of COVID-19, world governments are looking for ways to jumpstart their economies.

In China, Selby said, that stimulus always comes in the form of construction infrastructure spending.

"It's already happening in the last couple of months. We're starting to see the metrics come through."

Back in 2005, China commanded 20 per cent of the demand for most metals. This time, it's 60 per cent.

In Europe, Selby said politicians view this pandemic recovery period as an opportunity to "reshape" their respective economies with a lower carbon footprint and electric vehicle incentives.

By weight, nickel is the primary metal used in electric vehicle batteries.

The societal shift toward buying electric cars is a corporate promotional message Selby wants to latch onto with Canada Nickel.

Another big advantage of sulphide deposits is the waste rock and tailings naturally absorb CO2 when exposed to air. When it comes to processing, laterite nickel operations burn excessive amounts of coal in processing to make the final product.

"We've got the potential for a very low-carbon footprint operation when combined with the fact that all the electricity in that part of (Northern) Ontario is hydroelectric," said Selby, in mulling over their processing options to produce a low-carbon nickel.

Selby concedes the financing environment for exploration firms remains tough. But the company privately raised $6.5 million in December, then cashed up with almost $4.5 million during the height of the April pandemic, enough to take them through the completion of the preliminary economic assessment.

To fund the final feasibility study next year, they'll go hunting for $10 million and $20 million.

For the remainder of this year, the plan is to drill off the remainder of the structure on Crawford and their option properties, finish the PEA, then continue to step out over the reset of the property over the next 12 to 24 months to assess other targets.

Selby said one of the globe's largest multinational miners, BHP, has publicly stated it needs more future-facing metals like nickel and copper.

"That's going to be the fun part of this decade. The big players are all interested in nickel now and how to get exposure to it, and we think we've got one of the few projects that's got the scale that can really attract the right kind of players to develop it effectively."

"We're looking at something where this could become the largest nickel sulphide mine in the world," said Selby to Northern Ontario Business, "short of one mine in Russia."

Canadian Nickel Miner Reports 162% High-Grade Increase

Nickel has seen an increasing demand in recent years and Canada Nickel Company Inc. (TSX-V: CNC, OTCQB: CNIKF, Forum) its Crawford nickel-cobalt sulphide project near Timmins, Ontario right alongside that demand ….

In late October 2020, CNC released an updated mineral resource for the project which more than doubles mineral resources in both Measured and Inferred resource categories. According to the estimate, the total measured and indicated resources now stand at 657 million tonnes grading 0.26% nickel for 1.7 million tonnes of contained nickel.

A significant increase:

This marks a 9% increase from the previous estimate, while inferred resources jumped by 121% to 646 million tonnes grading 0.24% nickel for 1.6 million tonnes of the metal. This resource adds upon the Main Zone, as well as an initial resource for the East Zone, which the Company discovered back in May 2020.

In a media release for investors, Canada Nickel Company’s Chair and Chief Executive Officer, Mark Selby stated that this latest drilling phase did an outstanding job of delivering on both of its key objectives – better defining and increasing the Main-Higher Grade Zone and establishing an initial resource in the East Zone.

“With a 162% increase in the Measured High Grade Zone nickel content, a 121% increase in total inferred resources, and an initial East Zone resource, this resource update puts us in excellent position for the delivery of a Preliminary Economic Analysis (PEA) by year-end. I look forward to continued drilling results as we explore several highly prospective nickel and PGM targets at Crawford, and to completing the remaining metallurgical and engineering testing for the PEA. With the recently completed financing, the Company is well-positioned to aggressively advance Crawford towards a Feasibility Study expected by year-end 2021.”

Why this matters:

CNC reported that the higher-grade portion in the Main Zone’s measured category rose to 153 million tonnes (+162%), averaging 0.32% nickel for 485,000 tonnes nickel, and the initial inferred resource for the East zone totalled 213 million tonnes at 0.24% nickel for 505,000 tonnes nickel. The East Zone has more than 40% (2.8 km) of straight length yet to be to be drilled, while the Main Zone is still open to the west.

Growing its resource:

Canada Nickel Co. followed up this impressive news with another release soon after stating that after drilling four new holes, it had discovered previously unknown mineralization occurrences outside the Main Zone.

Assays are still pending, but the four drill holes (across a width of 800 metres and a strike length of 425 metres) intersected mineralized dunite which is consistent with mineralization seen in the Main zone.

The Company’s Crawford Project is located at a glacial lake in the same area as the Dumont Project under Waterton in the Abitibi region.

The Company’s share price has steadily been growing in value since the Company went public at the end of February, as well, having grown from around $0.90 around $0.90 six months ago hovering just under $2 a share.

Und dann noch dieses Interview, veröff. heute, 28.10.2020

Advancing the next generation of nickel-cobalt sulphide projects is Canada Nickel Company Inc.
(TSX-V: CNC, OTCQB: CNIKF, Forum).

There is a demand for nickel and cobalt to feed the growth of the electric vehicle and stainless-steel markets. The Company’s flagship Crawford Nickel-Cobalt Sulphide Project is located in the heart of the prolific Timmins - Cochrane mining camp, where the Company released the final results from infill drilling at the Main Zone earlier this month.

We are joined by Canada Nickel’s Chief Executive Officer Mark Selby to find out more ….

Transcription:

SH: Thank you for joining us. To begin, let's find out about your recent to resource upgrade.

MS: Yeah, I know it's very exciting. So, we put out our first resource at the end of February, just as we were going public. And at that point we're already one of the 12 largest nickel sulfide resources globally with a total in all categories of just over 2 million tons of contained nickel and most with, with a higher-grade core. This last resource update had really two main objectives and we sure shot the lights out on both of those objectives. First was in terms of increasing the overall scale of the resource, which we did.

So, we're now well over 3 million tons and well into the list of the top 10, a nickel sulfide resources globally. And then the second thing, and this leads into, you know, a key thing for our PA or preliminary economic assessment, which we expect to complete at the end of the December is focusing on upgrading and increasing the size of the higher grade core of the ore body.

And we did that very, very well. So, we had before 96 million tons in this high-grade corridor about 0.3, 4% nickel. We've now more than doubled that to over 200 million tons, you know, at 0.3, 4% nickel, which is about a one third higher than our average grade. You know, why that's so important is that, you know, when you build a large-scale mining project of which, you know, we hope Crawford will be one day. If you're able to fill that mill with three, five, seven years of higher-grade material, particularly one third higher grade, your costs are fixed. So, all that incremental grade comes through as incremental cashflow in the project. And that's why this project was just discovered just over two years ago, we took it over a year ago and started drilling at that point. And so the reason we're going right into a PA, which you expect to have done by the end of the year is to be able to really demonstrate the economics of what we think we've got here.

SH: Everyone's talking about it. So, in your opinion, why is now a good for nickel?

MS: The key thing with nickel is it's always been a very high growth metal. If you look historically, it's grown at four to 5% a year, which is about double the growth rate that you've seen in, in copper and zinc. And that's been driven primarily by the growth in the stainless-steel markets today. You know, obviously there was a, the Tesla battery day presentation and, and the focus on electric vehicles, you know, and, and the great thing about that Tesla battery day presentation has really highlighted sort of what an important role nickel will have in being a key metal to deliver the batteries that the electric vehicle revolution is founded on. Robert Friedland summed it up pretty nicely. Now, when he called Nickel “The new gasoline” for cars. It's going to be the key ingredient in terms of powering cars going forward.

To be able to develop a new, new nickel sulfide project, which there are very few of these days is we think exceptionally well timed in the market where you have a great investment return are when you a have a great project, but then you're able to deliver a great project, you know, during a very promising market timeframe. And we really think, you know, we're in a very interesting, you know, nickel period right now, and nickel goes through super cycles, you know, every 15 to 20 years because of this high growth demand or supply struggles to catch up for a few years, we went through one in the late sixties.
We went through another one in the late eighties and another one in the mid 2000’s. Given this extra overlay of nickel demand from electric. So on top of already strong demand growth from the stainless-steel market, we think being able to advance Crawford, to be in a position to start delivering nickel, by some time in the middle part of this decade, we think will be very, very well done.

SH: Speaking of Tesla, Elon Musk, publicly asked mining companies this past summer to mine more nickel and even took notice of your company on Twitter.

MS: He talked about it on his quarterly results call the end of July. And what was interesting is, is he made a couple points. One was, you know, miners, please make more nickel. And then two, please do it in an environmentally friendly and environmentally sensitive way. So, and it really highlighted two things. One is there's very few new nickel projects outside of vendor in Asia. And so, for European and North American automakers to have local sources of supply, there's very few places they can go to be able to get that. So, a new nickel project like ours in a place like Timmins with all the infrastructure in place and in Canada is a big advantage. The second thing is around that environment, like friendly environmentally sensitive way through the challenge with, with nickel supply from Indonesia is the bulk of it's been, you know, more than 100% of the growth in supply over the last five years and will be very important if not the bulk of supply growth over the next five years, but because it's a type of nickel that is extremely energy intensive, so you need a lot of electricity to process it.

It's unfortunately in areas where there's, there's very little renewable energy. And so as a result, they end up burning 25 to 30 tons of coal per ton of nickel to be able to produce the nickel that they do that obviously creates, you know, 85 to 90 tons of CO2 emissions per ton of nickel, you know, and I'm pretty sure you'll on Musk when he decided to embark on the electric vehicle revolution was on key wasn't keen on strapping, you know, a pile of CO2 in the battery pack into every car that he's going to produce. So, we're in the very, very fortunate position with our deposit. And we created a, what we call it, we've called is our net zero metal subsidiary. We have a unique set of costs and unique set of circumstances that we believe will allow us to, to deliver net zero carbon nickel to the market, which we think will be in demand.

One is the host rock that makes up the bulk of the mineralization of our deposit is made up of a mineral that when it's exposed to air, it naturally absorbed CO2. It is as a way to soak up CO2. The second thing is we're in an area that is all hydroelectric based, which is zero carbon. And so all the electricity that we need to do the mining and the milling part of our process will be all zero carbon hydroelectricity, you know, and the third, the third part of it is Timmins is an area that's very supportive of downstream processing. And so the ability to, to co-locate some processing plants in close proximity to our tailings and waste rock, where we can capture the off gas and route it and capture all the CO2 is the unique combination of those three things will allow us to be, we believe, that a net-zero carbon producer going forward, which all consumers are interested in, and going forward … even more.

SH: Let’s find out a little bit more about you for investors who are new to your story. Canada nickel hasn't been around very long but has already made a big impression.

MS: We formed the company literally just over a year ago, the deposit had had four holes drilled in the prior 12 months. And from those, I saw that there was the potential for a very large nickel deposit, similar to a project I had advanced in a past life. We formed the company privately last September, we raised $6 million. We completed the initial resource in just six months where it was already one of the 12 largest sulphide deposits globally since raised subsequent capital, to be able to allow her, to allow us to deliver this most recent a resource upgrade, which again took the scale of the resource up by another 50%. But most importantly doubled the size of that high-grade core, which we think is going to be the key piece from a value perspective. We're going to continue to advance it aggressively. So, we'll have a PA in place by year end, we'll have a feasibility study done by the end of 2021. And again, you know, we're pushing this hard, because of our experience, which allows us to be able to do it. And then secondly, we, you know, we want to be in a position to be able to deliver that nickel for what we think is going to be a very exciting nickel market. Come the middle part of this decade.

SH: You mentioned the potential of being an environmentally friendly mining Company that can produce nickel with zero carbon emissions. Can you tell us more?

There was the combination of the host rock that hosts our deposit is made up of a mineral that naturally absorbs CO2 when it's exposed to air, but you can Google carbon sequestration using ultra may rocks, you know, by, by mining the material, we'll be able to create material that will absorb CO2 and, you know, create carbon offsets for us. The second part is the, you know, the electricity in the region, use for the mining and milling, there's all zero carbon hydroelectricity, and then we'll have process plants locally where we'll look at capturing the off gas from those plants and rewriting those out to our tailings to be able to produce what we believe will be the first net zero carbon, you know, nickel, cobalt, and iron

SH: On nickel being cyclical. Global demand is surging. What are your thoughts on this? Where is the market today? And where is it headed?

MS: Those similar growth rates in the use of stainless steel, which is new consumes about two thirds of, of overall nickel consumption. What's interesting, again, is, you know, the expose of growth that's expected from the electrical vehicle sector. So when you overlay that on top of the already strong growth from the stainless steel market, you know, we expect that you're going to have to double nickel supply by 2030 versus, you know, what was produced in 2018. Outside of Indonesia, there's very few projects that are ready. And so again, we think we're in a very fortunate position that we're going to be one of the few nickel projects out to be able to deliver large quantities of nickel, you know, in what we think is going to be very, very attractive nickel market by the middle part of this decade.

SH: We've been speaking with Mark Selby, CEO of Canada nickel company, creating on the TSX venture exchange under the symbol CNC. One of the few Canadian miners ready to meet the accelerating demand for battery metals, as the EV revolution gathered speed. Investors are reminded to do their own due diligence before making any investment decision. Thank you for listening.

Canada Nickel (CNC) - Now Trading on OTCQB Market Under Ticker CNIKF
By Charlie Hancox
October 27 2020, 18:20 GMT
Canada Nickel Company

TSX-V: CNC Shares Outstanding: 80M Share price C$1.95 (27.10.2020) Market Cap: C$150M

The story of Canada Nickel Company (TSX-V: CNC, OTCQB: CNIKF) is a story that combines futuristic potential with strong corporate leadership. The nickel explorer and developer is led by nickel veteran, Mark Selby.

We have previously outlined how the higher-grade core in the Main Zone had the potential to transform the economics of this bulk-tonnage story, and this was recently proved correct with Canada Nickel doubling its M&I resource and making a third major discovery at Crawford.

According to Selby, there are “nowhere near enough” nickel projects in the pipeline to satiate lofty projections like a 50% increase in battery-grade nickel demand by 2030. Canada Nickel is hoping to leverage this growing supply-demand gap and the favourable mining code of Ontario to generate accretive growth for the benefit of both shareholders and insiders.

One of latest major pieces of news to come out of the nickel junior regards its new listing on the OTCQB Venture Market: an American financial market providing price and liquidity information for almost 10,000 over-the-counter securities, with a primary focus on early-stage and developing U.S. and international companies. This listing became effective on October 14, as Canada Nickel graduates from the OTC Pink Sheets. What could this new listing mean for nickel investors and Canada Nickel shareholders?

Let’s start with Selby’s take on this latest move. He commented, “Trading on the OTCQB will make the Company accessible to a much broader range of U.S. investors and assist in our goal of increasing liquidity and visibility in the U.S. We look forward to introducing our Crawford nickel-cobalt sulphide project, located in one of the world’s best mining jurisdictions, to this new group of investors.”

This appears to be another clear indication of Selby’s confidence in both the nickel macro story and the quality of Crawford as an asset. Crawford is now the 7th largest nickel sulphide resource on the planet; it isn’t in the small leagues anymore. With potential major strategic partners like Tesla making all the right noises regarding increased clean nickel production, and with nickel up well above $7/lb, Selby appears to be pulling the trigger for aggressive exploration and development, as evidenced by recent drill results and plans for future drill programmes. With a PEA due by the end of the year, is he timing this to perfection? Will Canada Nickel hit the next cycle at the right time? We’d love to hear what EV and battery metal investors think about this listing.

Selby has previously explained to us that the CVE is a great exchange for exposure to Canadian investors: a large proportion of which are amenable to the idea of an EV revolution and the economics surrounding it. However, he seemed acutely aware of the limitations of this single listing. The EV narrative is gathering pace in North America, and the huge number of nickel investors will now be able to invest in the company more easily. Moreover, Canada Nickel’s presence in the U.S. will be strengthened, and liquidity should be enhanced.

Having just explained Canada Nickel’s aim to create an accelerated monetisation event, let’s look at another recent development that was highly indicative of this strategy. Canada Nickel has been going out to the market regularly in recent months. On September 10th, the company closed a private placement financing worth $1,774,500, upsized from $1.5M due to “strong market demand.” By September 14th, Canada Nickel announced that it had increased the size of the previously announced bought deal offering from c. $6.5 million to c. $13 million: another demonstration of the market’s interest in the nickel player.

These financings were conducted against a backdrop of strong drill results, and by September 30th, Canada Nickel had closed the first tranche of its bought deal private placement to the tune of $8M worth of units. By the 15th of October, with $5 in flow-through shares, the company closed the second tranche of the $13M financing.

Public offerings generally result in dilution, but because of Crawford’s increasing promise, Canada Nickel has managed to raise capital on favourable terms whilst continuing to provide growth where it counts: its share price.

This flurry of recent financings appears to show that Canada Nickel is working quickly, confidently and intelligently. The company is aware of the level of investor interest, and with this latest listing, seems keen to strike while the iron is hot.

What do you make of all this? Is Canada Nickel a desirable investment proposition? What would you like to see the management team do next? Comment below and we will ask Selby the next time we speak to him.

New high-grade intercept of 2.5m at 6.6% Ni in a new channel at Cassini North (MDD350 – estimated true width 2.5m and 260m vertical depth) • Represents the first ore grade intercept in an exciting new channel position north of Cassini Main • MDD350 is the first hole drilled following an update to Mincor’s geological model for the area • Intersection is approximately 700m to the north of the planned infrastructure at the Cassini Main Ore Reserve (1.2Mt @ 3.3% Ni for 40,100 nickel tonnes) • Recent down-hole EM (DHEM) indicates a conductor down-plunge from this hole
