Corels Situation - 500 Beiträge pro Seite

Ich halte schon seit einiger Zeit einen ansehnlichen Anteil von Corel Aktien. Nach den teilweise verständlichen Kursrückschlägen in den letzten Monaten, besteht momentan ein - für mich- unerklärbarer Aufwärtstrend. So hat es die Aktie z.Zt. in Frankfurt wieder auf einen Wert von 5,10 Euro geschafft. Trotz ausgeweiteter Suche konnte ich keine Neuigkeiten ausmachen.

Könnte mir jemand evtl. News mitteilen oder vielleicht erklären, wieso dieser Trendwechsel eintrat, bzw. womit man in Zukunft rechenen kann.

Corel Announces Details of Cost-Restructuring Plan: Engineering Operations in Dublin to be Consolidated to Corporate Headquarters in Canada

OTTAWA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 6, 2000--Corel Corporation (NASDAQ:CORL)(TSE:COR.) today announced that it has identified the components of the previously-targeted US $40 million in expenditure cuts, designed to realign the company`s costs with its expected achievable revenues.

As part of this plan, the company is announcing its proposed consolidation of its engineering operations, based in Dublin, Ireland, to its corporate headquarters in Ottawa, Canada.

Under the overall cost-restructuring plan, Corel expects to reduce expenditures by approximately US $40 million on an annualized basis. The cost reductions are being implemented across all departments, including $18 million in salaries, benefits and third-party contract expenditures, $12 million in advertising, marketing and market development costs, $5 million in cost of sales and product-related expenses and $5 million in other general and administrative costs, including facilities, travel, corporate sponsorships and depreciation on capital expenditures.

"We have reached an important milestone in an ongoing process Corel needs to follow to closely scrutinize its expenditures and align those with its expected achievable results," said John Blaine, chief financial officer of Corel Corporation. "With this sharpened focus and discipline, we are taking the necessary steps to put the company on a more solid financial footing."

The proposed consolidation of Corel`s Dublin-based engineering teams is a strategic step, designed to improve the fiscal outlook of the company`s operations worldwide. A total of 139 positions at Corel`s Dublin facility will be affected as a result of the move. There will be opportunities for some of the affected employees to relocate to Canada and work at the corporate headquarters.

"We appreciate the invaluable contributions our Dublin-based employees have made to Corel over the years and we intend to assist them, as much as possible, in finding alternative employment in Dublin`s booming high-tech sector or at Corel`s Ottawa headquarters," said Derek J. "The decision to consolidate our engineering operations in Canada was by no means an easy one, but it`s a necessary step to streamline our costs and development efforts and part of a broader strategy to support the company`s long-term growth. A core team comprised of professional services, manufacturing and distribution will remain at the Dublin facility to support Corel`s international customers. Manufacturing for international distribution will continue to be outsourced in Ireland.

Corel beats 3Q forecasts

Corel (Nasdaq: CORL) beat analyst estimates in its first
post-Cowpland quarterly report.

After market close Wednesday, the vendor of graphics
software, office productivity suites and Linux
distributions reported a fiscal third quarter net loss of
$10.7 million, or 15 cents per share. That figure
includes $6.2 million in one-time charges that include
restructuring costs, and $4.5 million in pre-tax
investment gains.

First Call`s survey of two analysts predicted a loss of 28
cents per share for the quarter ended Aug. 31.

Shares of Corel traded at 3.875 in afterhours activity on
the Island electronic communications network, following
the release of quarterly results. Corel stock closed
Wednesday`s regular Nasdaq trading at 3.59375, down
0.03125 for the session.

Der kanadische Software- und Linuxspezialist Corel wird heute abend nach Schluß des US-Handels die Zahlen für das abgelaufene Quartal bekannt geben. Analysten erwarten einen Verlust von 36 Cents je Aktie.
Der Aktienkurs hat seit dem Hoch bei 44,5 Dollar deutlich verloren und steht aktuell nur noch bei ca. 3,5 Dollar. Corel stand vor kurzem noch kurz vor dem finanziellen Aus und hat auch weiterhin noch finanzielle Probleme.

Quartalszahlen bei Corel

Das US-Linux-Unternehmen Corel legte seine Zahlen für das abgelaufene Quartal vor und konnte die Erwartungen der Analysten deutlich übertreffen.
Während sich die First Call Schätzungen auf einen Verlust von 28 Cents je Aktie beliefen, meldete Corel nun tatsächlich einen Q3-Verlust von 15 Cents je Aktie. Im Vorjahresquartal wurden noch 26 Cents je Aktie verdient.

Die Umsätze beliefen sich auf 36,4 Millionen Dollar nach 71,3 Millionen Dollar im Quartal des Vorjahres.

Corel in Q3 mit 10,7 Mio USD Verlust nach 17,6 Mio Gewinn im Vorjahr
OTTAWA (dpa-AFX) - Der kanadische Softwareanbieter Corel hat im dritten Quartal einen Verlust von 10,7 Mio. USD erwirtschaftet nach einem Gewinn von 17,6 Mio. USD im entsprechenden Vorjahreszeitraum. Ursache seien hauptsächlich Restrukturierungskosten, teilte das Unternehmen am Donnerstag mit. Den Umsatz bezifferte Corel mit 36,4 Mio. USD nach zuvor 71,3 Mio. USD. Der Verlust pro Aktie liege bei 0,15 USD nach 0,28 USD im Vorjahr.

In den Ergebnissen des dritten Quartals sind laut Corel einmalige Abschreibungen in Höhe von 6,2 Mio. USD im Zusammenhang mit der Neuorganisation des Unternehmens enthalten. Darin seien auch diverse Abfindungszahlungen enthalten.

Die Kostensenkungsmaßnahmen zeigen nach Einschätzung von Finanzvorstand John Blaine erste Wirkungen. Der Umsatz habe sich im Vergleich zum Vorquartal behauptet präsentiert und das Unternehmen befinde sich weiter auf Weg zur finanziellen Genesung./cs/bl/ms
